Reading Radio Network and the Community Radio Network. Welcome to
the audio description presentation of Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight.

S2 (00:46):
And it's a very hello and very warm welcome and
a hello to Vision Australia radios Carols by Candlelight audio
description I'm John Westlund and with me is Susie Hill
and Ian Easton, and will be bringing and shining a
light on the festivities at the Sydney Myer Music Bowl.

(01:07):
All the music and the fun and let's say hello
to Susie Hill. Good evening describer.

S3 (01:14):
Welcome, everybody.

S2 (01:15):
And, uh, Susie, we are fortunate. We're in a very
warm environment. We're actually protected from the elements. But it
does look as though tonight there might be a bit
of weather about for the poor people at or for
the for the people who are out at the Sydney
Mine Music Bowl.

S3 (01:32):
I hope they're well prepared. You can't really use trolleys, but,
you know, waterproof coats, blankets, all of those things helps.

S2 (01:39):
All of those sort of things will help. But anyway,
they'll be in for a great night of entertainment, great
night of music and entertainment all the way through. Uh,
for Carols by Candlelight, it's an opportunity for you to
donate to Carols to Vision Australia. Uh, to all of
those people who are blind or have low vision. And

(01:59):
you can donate to, uh, Vision Australia by calling one
842 2077. That's one 842 2077 or online at Give
to carols.com. That's online at Give to carols.com. What are

(02:20):
you looking for most tonight Susie.

S3 (02:22):
I'm not sure. Like I love some of the old
traditional carols, and I love hearing people like Sylvie Paladino sing.
But then there's also the joy of seeing some of
the big music theatre shows coming in and singing things.
So there's a whole range, and I think from a
vision perspective, I loved seeing the families and the children.
I just the joy, the joy.

S2 (02:45):
Joy, the little family groups, the joy of the family
groups really is spectacular. And as you say, we have
the old favorites who have been here many times before.
We've got plenty of new performers who are performing for
the first time. Sarah Abo is is presenting for the
very first time this year. That will all make something

(03:05):
special for tonight's Carols by Candlelight. So from Vision Australia Radio,
we should be crossing to Carols by Candlelight very shortly. Um.
I see we're getting some vision right now for the
Sydney Myer Music Bowl. And here we come. What a
spectacular sight. Here we go. Carols by candlelight from the

(03:28):
Sydney Myer Music Bowl for Vision Australia.

S4 (03:56):
Oh come all ye faithful.

S3 (04:02):

S4 (04:04):

UU (04:05):
And true. Important.

S4 (04:10):
Oh call me. Oh, call me too. Bethlehem.

UU (04:25):
Let me hold him on the beam of angels. Oh,
cos I. For him. Old cars are for him. Oh, come.

(04:49):
Let us adore him. Come. I asked the Lord. Hard. See.

(05:09):

(05:37):
Ready to go. Me in my. Against. Oh, come, let
us adore. Oh, come. On him? Of course. Jim Crow.

(06:22):
Iced the Lord. Your degree is for me. Something for me,

(06:43):

(07:09):
us adore. Him. Oh, come. So. Oh, him. Oh!

S3 (07:57):
Sylvie in a flame orange evening gown. John Foreman conducting
the orchestra and the mass choir in blue robes.

S5 (08:07):
And David Campbell.

S3 (08:17):
They're in a blue gown. David in Red cut.

UU (08:34):
Wow. Sylvie Palladino. Stop the show. You did it again,
my friend. This is you. Something else. God, that was.

Christmas Eve tradition. Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight, proudly presented
by Amy. And for the first time, please welcome to
the lectern, local girl.

UU (09:16):
Make good Sarah abo. I mean, he's such a great honour.

S3 (09:25):
Being a Melbourne girl and being one who was raised
in Greensboro, I might add. But, David, I'll have you. Yes,
we've got some Greensborough folk.

S5 (09:32):
In the crowd. How good is this representative?

S3 (09:35):
There they are. But you know what, David? This actually
isn't my first carols. Oh, really? It was about 30
years ago today. That little Sarah was somewhere up there
on the lawn, looking onto this stage. So it's kind
of hard to believe that I'm actually up here.

S5 (09:48):
Can't believe you just told everybody you're 32 years of age.
That is. I know I look good for 32 die tonight.
By the way, we can acknowledge the fact that Melbourne
has really turned on all the weather today. It was
sunny to start with, but it's a little bit cloudy.
There might be a bit of rain around, but we
are going to have the best night in any way,
am I right? It's not just about us, but it's

(10:10):
about everyone at home, too. We've got a huge, huge
show tonight. Let's not forget the legendary Paul Kelly is
in the house tonight. First time.

S3 (10:20):
Ever. I can't believe it's actually his first time at Carol's.
And he's going to be performing two songs tonight. Of course,
the classic Gravy and Silent Night.

S5 (10:28):
Yeah, but before all of that, and I know you
all here want to do this as well. Please, can
we give Sarah an official Carol's welcome with a big
merry Christmas. Sarah. After me on three. Ready? One. Two. Three.

S3 (10:44):
Thank you everyone. Merry Christmas to all of you as well. Beautiful.
I love it.

S5 (10:48):
We love being here. It's such a privilege and honor
to be here and to share this with you. This
historical place that you were here before in the audience.

S3 (10:55):
I know it's pretty incredible. And Carols by Candlelight. The
family here is immense, and we'd love to acknowledge the
traditional owners on the land on which we meet tonight.
There were Andre. We were wrong people, and we pay
our respects to their elders, past and present.

S5 (11:07):
It's a fantastic space, a fantastic space, and the music
you'll hear perform tonight is a wow right across the board.
We have so many incredible artists. Mitch Tambo, G flip
is going to be here tonight.

UU (11:19):
Marsha Hines, His Royal Highness of Christmas, Dennis.

S5 (11:23):

S5 (11:29):
David, love that show. Big fan of that show.

S3 (11:33):
Okay, not too scary for you.

S5 (11:34):
Not too scary at all.

S6 (11:36):
What about the ending? How did you feel about that?

S5 (11:39):
Emma? Mama's also here tonight. Everybody. How about I'm a
member for the kids here? So good. Very good.

S3 (11:45):
And how about this? Someone even bigger than all of
those huge names is also paying us a visit with
his reindeer.

S5 (11:52):
Yeah, I like this ending because he brings goodwill and
happiness to everyone here and everyone at home. Kids. Who's coming?

S3 (12:03):
Of course it's going to be here tonight. Absolutely. So
to help Santora, we thought maybe we could divide the
crowd into who's been naughty and who's been nice. What
do you reckon, guys? Hands up if you've been nice. Nice.
Just about everyone. Actually, I.

S5 (12:17):
Think the guys have it. Uh, we all have a
chance to either make up or to be good tonight.
And girls, Carols by Candlelight is the one major fundraiser
for the year for Vision Australia. It's why we're all
here tonight.

S3 (12:30):
And tonight is our chance to light up lives this
Christmas and support children who are blind or have low vision.

S5 (12:35):
All funds raised direct go directly to Vision Australia's Children's Services,
supporting the children and their families to live the life
that they choose brighter together.

I call you uncle? Is it? Yes. Good, good. All right.
He's ready to rock.

S5 (13:20):
All right, let's go.

S3 (13:22):
Let's do this. Our next act had to sit out
carols last year after giving birth four days before the event.

S5 (13:28):
Although she still probably wanted to perform. Am I right
to believe it? Absolutely.

S3 (13:32):
And her return tonight also allows her dream follows her
dream wedding last month to her soulmate, Sam. She has
a lot of reasons to sing this next song.

S5 (13:41):
Yeah, with a fantastic version of Joy to the world.
Please welcome back to the stage, Bonnie Anderson.

S4 (13:58):
The Lord is God.

UU (14:05):

northern gospel choir. So nice to see her again, isn't it?

S5 (17:17):
Congratulations. And also thank you to the Melbourne Gospel Choir.

S3 (17:25):
All right, DC, we are away. The show has officially begun,
so let's keep the roll call going on. Next performer's
debut album recently won the Aria for Best Children's Album
of the year. She and her friends navigate challenges and
adventures using sign language, choreography, singing and craft. It is
pure bliss.

S5 (17:43):
Yeah, she is absolutely amazing. It's a new generation of communication,
spreading it through the younger generation. Appearing as part of
the Twilight at Taronga Zoo in February. She's very, very special.
My kids are very, very excited that I've met her.
I mean, it's very, you know, you feel a little
bit cooler once you know you've met her too.

S3 (18:03):
As we solutely isn't it special when we've got amazing
AMA member as well?

Everybody relax. Settle down. Everyone's allowed to have their. They're
allowed to have their moment. They have their time. The sun.
But we did have kids here. So we want to
make sure those kids are safe. They're going to come
back out in a second. It is a very hard
time in this world. It's a hard time for us
all to come together on a night like this, too.

(18:59):
When there's a lot of pain out there, a lot
of people are experiencing that. So we're just going to
settle everything down for a second. Yeah, and we're all
going to be fine.

UU (19:09):
And I think it is. Incredible work here by the
team as well.

S5 (19:21):

(26:34):
to the Sydney Myer music problem.

S5 (26:36):
Everyone want to hear the ball.

S3 (26:40):
Grand vision of the huge crowd. Lights beginning to dim.

S5 (26:44):
Sleigh bells.

S3 (26:46):
What was that? Oh, I'm sorry, that was just my Fitbit. Oh, really?

S5 (26:49):
30,000 more steps. I just closed a ring before, but
someone very special is arriving. Not on foot, but in
a big red sleigh.

S3 (26:59):
And the person in charge of greeting our visitor in
the sleigh has never done the job before.

S5 (27:05):
It is. You haven't been here before, so it's such
a big honor.

S3 (27:09):
It is the biggest responsibility tonight, for sure.

S5 (27:12):
Well, I'm sure he's been planning for this moment for months,
so please welcome your master of ceremonies, Mr. Bobby. Oh.

S3 (27:25):
It. Red armchair on the stage.

UU (27:27):
Sparkling Christmas tree.

S5 (27:32):
No. Bobby. Bobby. Fox.

S3 (27:42):
Still no. Bobby.

S11 (27:43):
Bobby. Fox.

S5 (27:45):
Bobby! I'm here, I'm here, I'm here. And he runs on.
I'm here. Over here, I'm here. I'm keeping things.

S3 (27:50):
On the stage.

S5 (27:51):
Thank you so much. Thank you. Bobby. I'll take it
from here.

S3 (27:54):
Lots of pages of music.

S2 (27:56):
Everything's fine.

S5 (27:59):
Guess who's arriving a teeny bit.

S2 (28:03):
Earlier than I.

S5 (28:04):
Thought. About 3 to 4 hours earlier than I thought.
And he guesses. I'll give you his initials. It's Santa Claus. Yeah. Oh,
I thought it took him longer to get here. I mean,
look at his normal flight path. We've got starts in
the North Pole.

S2 (28:19):
Obviously.

S5 (28:20):
And then down through the Netherlands, Namibia, Newfoundland screen now
and again, going through all the countries. And then normally
a nice little Noel nibble at Nando's. So not long
now until the man with the van arrives. And we
have got a lot of things to do to make
it perfect for him. The number one thing that we've
got to do, and I need your help for this,

(28:41):
everybody is we've got to sing. Who's up for a
song for Santa? Are you up for a song for Santa?

UU (28:48):
Yeah. I'll let me hear you. Who's up for a
song for Santa? I need your help.

S5 (28:56):
Nothing's going to stop us now. Lots of children in
the audience. You want.

S3 (29:01):
Hats?

S5 (29:01):
Ponchos? I want you.

S12 (29:02):
To give me the music. The music?

S5 (29:05):
Whoops. Can I see the whole lagoon? Yes. My bad.
Absolutely my bad. Look, I have got a ton of
music in there for you.

S3 (29:12):
Drops music in front of John Foreman. Goes everywhere.

S5 (29:16):
I'll give you a minute, shall I?

S12 (29:17):
If you don't mind. Okay.

S5 (29:19):
All right. Let's shake off all the nerves, shall we?
Just before we start singing. Yeah. All right, big inhale.
Everybody with me and.

S13 (29:28):
Oh, shake it off. John Foreman, are you ready?

S5 (29:36):
One. Two.

UU (29:38):
Three. Four. Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer. Oh, I don't know
this person. Hey, Johnny. Johnny. Hey, uh.

S5 (29:54):
Let's do something a bit more traditional. I think there's
some bubbly in there.

S13 (29:58):
Right. Okay. One. Two.

UU (30:00):
Three. Go! On the air. I think all the similarities
are the jingle. Jingle bells. Jingle bells, jingle bells. Put
your hands up. Ho ho! Hands up! Hup hup hup hup!

S5 (30:17):
I'm having too much fun. No time for this. Hey, Roscoe.
Stage manager. Are you there? Yeah. Hope for Bobby. Hope
for Bobby? Yeah. Can you do me a favor? Can
you keep these guys entertained while I nip out to
the garage? Just got a few Christmas CDs and stuff
out there. I know singing's not your thing, but. Hey, look,
there's an orchestra there. There's a crowd there.

UU (30:42):
You're already wearing your microphone.

S5 (30:44):
I believe in you, buddy. Knock em dead.

S3 (30:49):
Jay. Ligaya.

S14 (30:51):
Okay. All right, all right. Let me have a think.
Let me have a think. What would Rob Mills do? Um, okay.
Got an idea? My favorite Christmas song. Do you know
a song about a reindeer with a glowing nose? Yes.

UU (31:04):
What's the number? Song. Would you like to sing it
with me? Out. Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer had a very
shiny nose. And if you ever saw it, you would
even say, if the Lord. All of the other reindeer.

(31:29):
I used to laugh and call him names, but they never. Rudolph.

S3 (31:35):
Reindeers dancing on the screen.

UU (31:39):
But then one foggy Christmas. Santa came to say. With
your nose so bright. Won't you got my sleigh tonight then?
All the reindeer. Great indeed. You'll go down in history.

(32:06):
I've got one. Foggy. Hey, hold it off with your nose.
All right. Won't you got my sleigh tonight? Then how? Quickly.

(32:26):
Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer. You. In his story. You. Roscoe.

S7 (32:41):
Bobby's back.

UU (32:43):
Ah, you gave it a good crack. Give it a
good crack, didn't you? Boys and girls. Look, all I.

S5 (32:50):
Can say is practice makes perfect. You know, hard work, dedication.
You could be in the biz for 40 years. You
never know. Even book a Star Wars movie to mention that. Look,
you've been such a great help. Thank you so much.
But it's my turn to say fantastic.

S14 (33:08):
May the force be with you.

UU (33:16):
Mr. Bobby Fox.

S15 (33:18):
You dropped your ID pass. Is this you? Oh.

S5 (33:20):
Thank you. Oh, I see the confusion. The day that
the photo was taken, I was looking particularly good.

S3 (33:29):
Women in uniform. Hey.

S5 (33:31):
Oh, this next song would be, uh, incredible with some dancers.
What do you say? Bit of fun.

S15 (33:40):
We're security people, Mr. Fox. We don't do fun. Well,
what if, um.

S5 (33:47):
Well, what if I need some security in case things
get out of hand?

S15 (34:01):
What if I need some security in case things get
out of hand? Is my middle name. Go on, your
little ragamuffin. Give us a song. Yeah. This one's for Santa.

UU (34:10):
Boys and girls hit a job.

S5 (34:16):
Just hear those sleigh bells ringing. And ting ting ting.

S16 (34:19):
A ling to.

S13 (34:22):
Dances behind Bobby a sleigh ride together with you outside.

UU (34:27):
The snow is falling and friends are calling you. It's
lovely weather for a sleigh ride.

S16 (34:34):
Together with you.

UU (34:38):
We know our cheeks are nice and rosy and comfy.
Cozy are we? It was held up together like two
birds of a feather. Should be. Let's take. Before us
and Singapore is here to. Come on. It's lovely weather
for a sleigh ride.

S16 (34:58):
Together with you.

UU (35:00):
Ding dong ding. For security officers. Hey.

S7 (35:10):
John, said Bobby.

S3 (35:13):
The guy comes forward. Not so dexterous. Dancer.

UU (35:18):
Tick tick tick. Into. Come on. It's lovely weather for
a sleigh ride together with you. Outside the snow is falling.
And friends are calling you to. Come on. It's lovely
weather for a sleigh ride together with you. We. Give

(35:51):
it up for the security guards. Pretty amazing. All right,
back to work.

S15 (36:00):
We thought that we might stick around. Maybe just just
in case, you know, in case something else happens. Something crazy,
like the choirmaster goes troppo or, you know, a child
runs at you with a finger bang. Standard stuff.

S13 (36:13):
Um, I.

S16 (36:14):
Think that you enjoyed hanging around and dancing for Santa.

S5 (36:17):
Marta. Not at liberty to say. Fair enough. Hands up.
Who can't wait for Santa to arrive? Oh, hey, it's
almost 90 o'clock. Um, I need someone to come up
on stage to sing a song while I get some
things ready for Santa's reindeer. Yes.

S3 (36:36):
And one up here, gentlemen, in the audience. I would
have thought to be those people who.

S5 (36:41):
Didn't want to come up and sing for Santa. Just here.
Nobody wants to come here.

S3 (36:47):
Just here. Sign saying choose me. I know David Hobson.

UU (36:52):
Nobody. Oh. Just here. Okay. Right here.

S5 (36:57):
Hang on, hang on.

S13 (36:58):
Just here. What, uh.

S16 (37:01):
What what what are you doing? What?

S15 (37:03):
I was going to put this carrot under the tree.
Was going to be my dinner, but I'm on a
keto thing, so I.

UU (37:07):
Thought Blitzen might like it. Hey, thank you so much.
Thank you.

S15 (37:13):
Women supporting women are beautiful.

S16 (37:16):
It's a beautiful heart. I mean, that's lovely. But I
was going to do that.

S15 (37:20):
It's not a competition. I'll be all right, you know. Well,
you've really turned the tone of this evening. You know,
it's Christmas. Wow. Well, Sarge is sad now.

S16 (37:29):
I got one of them. Oh. I'm sorry. You're right.
Thank you. Sorry.

S15 (37:33):
Thank you. That's so kind.

S14 (37:35):
Thank you. Bobby. Oh. 50 minutes away, huh?

S16 (37:38):
Oh, hey. Audience I need.

S5 (37:40):
Who wants to come up here and be in charge
of welcoming Santa?

UU (37:43):
Anybody want to up the back? Who do we need?
Someone up there. Someone up there. Did you see someone
waving up the back there? Hey, maybe we just got
to be more gusto.

S3 (37:53):
Sign saying pig. Hang on a second.

S7 (37:57):
It's here somewhere.

S5 (37:58):
Find the right person for me. This job. Who might
it be?

S3 (38:04):
Colin Lane, no arms waving around everywhere.

S5 (38:07):
Bit busy. Hey.

S14 (38:08):
Bobby, do you mind if I guide Santa in with
my new turbo twin marshaling indicators?

S16 (38:16):
Do you mean the ping pong bat?

S14 (38:20):
Yeah, the ping pong bats.

S16 (38:21):
Sure. All right. I need a.

S15 (38:23):
Big, tall glass of milk for Santa. What did you say, Bobby?
Did you say that the audience wants to hear a
song from stage? One of a decidedly festive nature.

S16 (38:36):
I know, I said a glass of milk.

UU (38:38):
Oh, well, if you insist in it, don't put. Routinely agree.

S3 (38:46):
With the security.

S7 (38:47):
Guards.

UU (38:48):
The Christmas tree and the Christmas party. Heart and soul
go on where you can't see. Every couple tries to stop.
Rockin around the Christmas tree. Let the Christmas spirit ring. Later.
We'll have some pumpkin pie. And we'll do some carols.

(39:16):
When you hear voices singing, let. It's. I mean, deck
the halls with boughs of holly. Rocking around the Christmas
tree at the Christmas party. Mistletoe hung where you can't

(39:38):
see every couple of trucks and stuff. Around the Christmas tree.
Have a happy holiday. Everyone dance in their. Me in
a new old fashioned. Okay. All right. Bring it in.

(40:07):
Bring it in. Watch out for that cloud. No, no, that.
That's very slightly off to the side. I'm gonna stay
like that. Wait. We're gonna do it on the car, sir.

S14 (40:20):
Santa is coming.

UU (40:21):
Back. Oh my God. They're the family. Pedals being used.

S7 (40:32):
Santa's on his sleigh.

S5 (40:37):
Slide with elves behind.

S3 (40:39):
Reindeer in front. Sleigh packed with presents.

S14 (40:43):
Merry Christmas, boys and girls.

UU (40:47):
Merry Christmas. Everybody.

S7 (40:57):
Sorry, security sergeant's.

S3 (40:58):
A bit excited.

S16 (41:01):
I might have panicked a bit. Oh, Bobby. Bobby! Bobby!
What's all the fuss?

S5 (41:06):
Tell old Sergeant I messed up. These guys aren't even
part of the act. They're just ring ins and security
guards and and stage managers.

S15 (41:15):
Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, Santa. Any chance could I. Could
I get an autograph, please?

S16 (41:18):
But everybody is welcome, Bobby.

UU (41:21):
It's Christmas. Ha, ha. We're his. And we didn't even
get any.

S5 (41:26):
Gifts for each other or.

S16 (41:27):
Anything, but you just shared the greatest gift of all
your talents. Your dancing, your singing.

S17 (41:37):
Your creativity.

S15 (41:39):
Cool, cool. Great chat. Is there any chance could I
get an answer about the autograph?

S13 (41:43):
Ah, yeah.

S16 (41:44):
So I'm on my way.

S3 (41:46):
Sanderson's autograph for Virginia guy.

S16 (41:50):
Even. Isn't that right, boys and girls? Everyone's welcome. Even Colin,
who I was purposefully ignoring just before the crowd. Even Colin.

S5 (42:02):
Where? Where is he? Colin.

S3 (42:13):
Much carrots being brought in.

S7 (42:16):
Colin Lionel Manning.

S15 (42:17):
Security guard on the other competition or.

S3 (42:20):
Anything Colin has signed. Wow. Either side. Hi, mum.

S18 (42:25):
Sorry about before call.

S1 (42:27):
That's all right, Mills.

S5 (42:30):
Oh, yeah. That's fine. Look at this.

S16 (42:32):
It's awesome, isn't it?

S5 (42:33):
They should do this every Christmas Eve. What do you reckon?
It's awesome. And sorry, Santa, I tried to make it
perfect for you, but.

S16 (42:42):
I was all just got crazy. But for me, it.

S17 (42:45):
Is the perfect Christmas. All we need is each other.

S14 (42:49):
Hey, Santa, can Bobby choose the final song as a
way of saying thank you? Oh, absolutely.

S17 (42:56):
It's your day, Bobby. Go ahead.

S5 (43:00):
Guys, thank you. So cool. Um, well, I just have
to find one. Oh, there's a bunch of music that
I gave to John just before Jingle Bells.

UU (43:08):
It is. That's my favorite song. Come on, let's talk about.
Let's go. Jingle bells, jingle bells. Jingle all the way. Oh,
what fun it is to ride a one horse open sleigh. Hey,
jingle bells, jingle bells jingle. In all the forest you

(43:31):
ride in a one horse open sleigh. Dashing through the
snow in a one horse open sleigh. Oh, that gives me.

S7 (43:41):
Candlelight.

S3 (43:42):
Waving in the audience.

UU (43:46):
Making spirits. One part and is to sing the same
song tonight. Oh, jingle bells. Jingle. Jingle all the way. Oh,
what fun it is to ride a one horse open sleigh.

S3 (44:03):
Santa's back in snow. Go down. Elves pushing him off.

UU (44:08):
To the left. All the while to ride a one
horse open sleigh. Does everybody. Everyone has some ideas, Karen.
The one thing they care. Everybody. Money, handshake, line work.

(44:30):
Come on everyone. Everyone is not taking anything. Any of
your photos? Come on, get your hands off!

S7 (44:36):
Take security guards.

S3 (44:39):
Take the power of off stage.

S2 (44:45):

You know he invite you.

On the Vision Australia radio network. VA radio digital. Online
at VA radio and on stations around Australia through the
Reading Radio Network and the Community Radio Network. You're listening
to the audio description presentation of Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight.

S2 (47:27):
And John Westlund and Susie Hill, bringing you the audio
description of Carols by Candlelight from the Sydney Myer Music Bowl.
And a couple of times in that last break, they
flashed to the crowd, many people dressed in ponchos and, well,
rugged up for the weather.

S3 (47:44):
Very sensible. And Melbourne really any time of the year,
particularly tonight.

S2 (47:48):
Exactly, exactly. But we also had a great show there
from particularly led by Virginia. Virginia Gay was as the
security security guard, the wanting to be an all singing,
all dancing security guard. It was very entertaining. And also
the others with Santa and Santas now exited stage left.

(48:10):
So coming up in the next half hour, we'll have
the the CBC choir, which will be something to look
out for with, I think with the 12 Days of Christmas,
which will be pretty special for us.

S3 (48:23):
Fantastic.

S2 (48:25):
You're listening to the Vision Australia radio audio description of
Carols by Candlelight coming from the Sydney Myer Music Bowl.
And now we go back. We've got some you should.
And here's the CBC choir.

UU (48:38):
This is not a city. This is a lake. I know,
great for the industry, Princess Suzette. And the voices in
of every. Yes. Now wasn't that.

S3 (49:04):
Special? Give yourselves all a round of applause at home.
You've never been here to the ball on Christmas Eve.
You really have to do it. Because DC, can you
just see all these people?

S5 (49:14):
Oh, it's so glorious.

S7 (49:14):
Now to sing your heart out.

S3 (49:16):
It's amazing.

S5 (49:17):
Why the candles to everybody at home?

S3 (49:18):
Look how glorious and glorious. But you know what? Santa
was also here.

S5 (49:24):
Santa was just here. Did he notice you?

S3 (49:26):
Oh my goodness. In this dress.

UU (49:28):
What do you think? I mean, let's get a have
a look at this. Look at this, look at this.

S3 (49:34):
Blue shiny fabric laundry.

S5 (49:36):
He just said, you slay.

S3 (49:39):
And he doesn't hate you. No. I have to thank
the wonderful Sonia Palazzo for this incredible creation. Sonia, you
always work magic, especially at Christmas. Thank you.

S5 (49:48):
It's glorious. Oh, we also quickly like to thank Jay Ligaya. Yep,
the Jenny guy and Bobby Fox for their performance before.
How fabulous is that actually? And Colin.

S3 (49:57):
Lane for upstaging them all, I have to.

S5 (49:59):
Say. All right kids, that's it. No, not. Santa is
on his way. Good night.

UU (50:04):
Good night. Yeah.

S3 (50:08):
Well, I mean, if Santa blew you away just then,
just you wait. Because this next lady, she's one of
the greatest live performers we have in this country. Online.
She's heard in 151 different countries. But this is where
you want to see her live. If you think she's
a triple threat, you just double that. Because currently she's
starring in the hit musical and Juliet, which is about

(50:30):
to open in Perth, followed by Sydney.

S5 (50:32):
And with her mega take on Santa Claus Is Coming
to Town, though what the only Casey Donovan.

UU (50:44):
You better watch out. You better not. Hi.

S4 (50:55):
You better not pout, I'm telling you.

UU (51:04):
She. He's coming here.

S4 (51:13):
So.

UU (51:14):
To close. He has come. And.

S4 (51:30):
You better watch out. You better not cry. You better
not pout. I'm telling you why. Santa Claus is coming.

UU (51:39):
How? Missed checking it twice. He's gonna find out who's
naughty or nice Santa Claus. Coming to town. He sees
you in your sleep. He knows when you're awake. He.

(52:02):
So be good, for goodness sake. You better watch out.
You better not cry. You better not pout. I'm telling
you why. You sit up close to me. Town.

S3 (52:23):
A navy purple and silver gown. Sleeveless gathered skirt.

UU (52:29):
He sees you in your sleep and he knows when
you're awake. I think you'd be mad on your show. Me. Good. Oh, good.
Stay cool. You better watch out. You're better now crying.
You better not pout, I'm telling you. Santa Claus coming

(52:53):
to town. Coming to town. Center Grove is coming. A
two time. Sam. What do you got, everyone? He's coming.
I'll see you here, Mr. Johnson. Mr.. I'm so sad

(53:17):
to say. Are. At home. I can't. He saved me, Mary.

S3 (53:50):
She likes to leave the stage.

UU (53:52):
Amazing. Very good. Thanks, guys.

S5 (53:57):
I think the former has helped build this event into
what it is today. In fact, I actually think he
helped build this actual venue back in 1958.

S3 (54:05):
In 1958, do you think he did? I mean, you're
not far off. He was you know, he for a while,
he's been sharing Christmas Eve with Australians since 1971, actually, David.
And he continues to dominate evening radio on Melbourne's three A.W.,
along with an almost endless list of singing, recording, corporate commitments.
He's your favourite. He's our favourite. He's of course Dennis Walter.

S23 (54:37):
Hello there. One little Christmas tree was standing all along.

S3 (54:46):
In black tux.

S23 (54:47):
For someone to come by. One little Christmas tree had
never grown. Cried as he looked up to the sky. Oh, please, Mr.
Tallest Tree, the greatest of all. I'm so afraid and

(55:09):
so alone.

UU (55:12):
Could. One little Christmas tree. Paul. Some joy.

S23 (55:45):
One little angel was riding on a star. Cried as
she looked down to the tree. Oh, please. It's the
tallest tree. Can I give him the star? Give him
the star you gave to me. Then from the heavens.

(56:08):
Was a voice from afar.

UU (56:11):
A voice you could hear. Throughout the world. Go on
a little. Let's start tonight. Here. Hello. They wait for

(57:08):
the highway. Thank you very.

S23 (57:49):
Much. Wonderful to be here. And I've been lucky enough
to be on this stage over 40 times from around 1972,
and it's wonderful to be here. And someone asked me
on on three where I work. Uh, just in this
last two weeks, I said, what's it like? What's the
experience like? And I said, well, it's exactly the same

(58:10):
as when you watch your favorite movie over and over again.
It's the experience is the same. It's marvelous. But the
one thing I love. Is having all of the good
and bad singers in the audience. Mostly good. Join me
with an answer line in this next one. And from

(58:31):
my family to yours. Merry Christmas.

UU (58:43):
It was hard for me. For my.

S23 (58:48):
Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy.

UU (58:55):
Do you hear what I like? Ringing through the night. Shepherds.
Do you hear what I. Of the trees with a voice.

(59:24):
It's the same with.

S23 (59:38):
Said the little boy to the mighty king.

UU (59:45):
Do you know what I. I know. And you can.
Almighty King. You know what I know? I know.

S24 (01:00:08):
She was in.

UU (01:00:10):
Let us break him. So. The mighty kings of. For the. Medicines.

(01:00:48):
Pray for peace. People everywhere. Join me. Jeremy. What I.

(01:01:38):
Do you hear what I hear? Everybody and Merry Christmas, people.

S5 (01:01:56):
Merry Christmas to you, Dennis. And to your family. Great
to see you. That's salt. Do you hear? What I
hear is about bringing goodness and light into the world.

Now two performers from the hit musical rent medical tender

absolutely stunning. Her music is incredible. The power of her
voice is remarkable.

S3 (01:02:41):
Absolutely. Calista Nelms, Nyada graduate and voice finalist, found her
dream role in rent, which opens in Brisbane in January,
followed by a national tour. If you're not already, this
song will make you happy, guaranteed. Tandoh and Calista Nelms
with Santa. Can't you hear me?

UU (01:03:06):
Keep those till. Most work in my. Cause all I

(01:03:30):
ever wanna. I don't. To make my dreams come true.

(01:03:59):
I want for Christmas coming up here. So tell me,
what can I do? On the fourth of the month. Senator,

(01:04:23):
can't you hear me? Keep those both in mind. Cause
I am. In the martial arts. Follow me as the. Oh, sorry.

(01:05:39):
Can't you hear me? Cause all I ever want. Oh.

(01:06:07):
I don't. You. I. Come.

participation and lifelong employment. So help us reach our million
dollar fundraising target. That's $1 million fundraising target, and you
can help by giving us a call now on one
842 2077. That's one 842 2077 or online at give

(01:10:58):
to Carol's dot com that's online at give to Carol's
dot com. And in that last little segment we saw
Dennis Walters first performed here in 1972. I reckon there's
some performers on stage who weren't born when he was
actually at the fair chance that he's been there. Well,
he's certainly the surely must be the longest, uh, the

(01:11:20):
longest serving performer at Carols by Candlelight. Um, but maybe
he might be pushed again by Dave Robson, who's coming
up a little bit later.

S3 (01:11:29):
Possibly. And Sylvie Palladino has been going for quite a long.

S25 (01:11:32):
Time to.

S2 (01:11:33):
Two. Yeah. The absolute, the the linchpins of Carols by
Candlelight from the Myer Music Bowl. And it looks as though, yes,
it looks as though the weather is pretty bad, but
the people are weathering it incredibly well. Uh, lots of
red Santa ponchos and solid, good wet weather gear out there.
But I have to say, we're warm here where we are.

(01:11:56):
You're listening to the audio description service of Vision Australia
Radio from Carols by Candlelight being broadcast from the Sydney
Myer Music Bowl. Uh, we'll be crossing back and shortly
coming up, we've got Jess Hitchcock and also, as we
were speaking, uh, David Hobson and Marina prior teaming up

(01:12:16):
to bring us, uh, the beginning to look a lot
like Christmas coming up in the next half hour of
Carols by Candlelight. Uh, just once again, if you can,
please give to our fundraising appeal on one 842 2077.
That's one 842 2077. Let's go back to the Sydney

(01:12:41):
Myer Music Bowl.

S5 (01:12:43):
Presented by Amy and Alfie right now on the obstacle course.
And that came from a fellow superhero known to another.
You're my hero, buddy.

S3 (01:12:51):
Isn't it amazing? It just makes you smile, that's for sure.
And seeing the immediate results that come from Virgin Australia
holding out their hand to families in times of confusion
and despair.

S5 (01:13:00):
Yeah, and tonight you can reach out to help Vision
Australia keep on helping those families that you just saw
them with. Children that have blind or have low vision.
Donate at give to Carol's com or phone one 842 2077.

S3 (01:13:16):
Now speaking of heroes DC, how about our next guest?
They are LA based but born in Melbourne and a
fellow Collingwood fan to boot. Yeah, I had to sneak
that in.

S5 (01:13:29):
We got a mixed reaction from that one. We got we.

S3 (01:13:31):
Got a lot of support for that one. Jay Felipe
is of course, what I'm talking about, and he's fast
becoming the role model that they never had growing up,
just as comfortable speaking up as they are dominating the
music industry and dominating.

S5 (01:13:45):
They have their second album, drama, shot to number one
and propelled JY to their largest Australian sold out tour
and their first US headline tour at the Arias they
took out. Best live act are about to see Y
here tonight with all I want for Christmas is You.
This is amazing.

UU (01:14:02):
Please welcome Chief Blair. And. There is just one thing

(01:15:02):
I need. That means Santa Claus won't make. I want.

(01:15:42):
I won't even wish for snow. Drama.

S3 (01:16:17):
Two guitars and. Singer goes to second drum kit.

UU (01:16:51):
Oh oh. I. Stop.

S3 (01:17:12):
He resumed singing.

S26 (01:17:39):
To. Focus.

UU (01:18:09):
He's. I think chiefly everybody.

S3 (01:18:37):
Holy moly. Okay, J.C., I'm about to say something kind
of controversial right now. Go ahead. I think that that
version was a lot better than Mariah Carey's version.

UU (01:18:51):
It's controversial. I really liked that.

S5 (01:18:54):
Cheese and I then knock that out of the park.
That was just too good. Thank you so much G,
for supporting fish in Australia. And that's a thing. You know,
the stars are here tonight. Yeah. They're all donating their
time to support. This was a worthy cause. They're not
just here because they've got a show to plug, you know?
I mean, John knows what I'm talking about. John Foreman,

(01:19:15):
you know what I'm talking about, right?

S12 (01:19:17):
Exactly. Right. No, no, if we're not going to plug anything,
and I'm not going to mention the fact that in
a week's time where there's a New Year's Eve gala
Seder with Marina Prior, Jemma Rex and Michael Cormack and
Doug Heywood and the choir and 60 piece orchestra, I mean,
what a great way to ring in the New year.
Tickets available now 8 p.m. show, 2 p.m. show and

(01:19:37):
the show the night before. I wouldn't mention that because
it would be inappropriate, because tonight's.

S5 (01:19:41):
Not the night. John, I agree with you. That's the
reason why I'm not going to plug the show Hopelessly
Devoted A Celebration of Olivia Newton-John, which will also be,
at Melbourne time, a whole. That's from March seven. Tonight
I'm going to be performing with the wonderful Jess Hitchcock,
who's going to be performing here very shortly. But you're just.

S3 (01:20:00):
It's just not classy guy. No, I mean, and good
on you, DC, for sticking to your guns and really
not plugging anything. Hey, Mum and.

S5 (01:20:07):
Dad, where's your mum and dad? Mum and dad.

S3 (01:20:10):
How am I doing? Is it going okay so far? Yes.
Thumbs up. I think that was a thumbs up. I
think we're okay.

S5 (01:20:18):
It was in the dark, but I saw thumb. Thanks, Ramadan.
But you know. What are your mom and dad's names?

S3 (01:20:25):
Samia and Fouad. Sami. You can say Papa fui, which
is what we call him with his beautiful grandkids watching
from home. There they are. Aren't they gorgeous? And, you know,
they say it was like 30 years ago when they
brought me here. So it's pretty special to be bringing
them here tonight. So thank you very much.

S5 (01:20:41):
We are full circle. She's doing great. I love it.
As I was talking before, like Jess Hitchcock, who I
think is an amazing singer, born with a heritage from
the Torres Strait Islanders in Papua New Guinea. Her skill
and her vocal range are rarely seen in somebody so young.
She performs with Paul Kelly, who of course, will be
here later on tonight, and he certainly knows a star

(01:21:02):
when he sees him.

S3 (01:21:03):
Oh, he absolutely does. And this year, her remarkable album
unbreakable reached top five. And when you hear her, you'll
want to sing more, because tonight she'll be singing. There
is a star that shines tonight. Please welcome the wonderful
Jess Hitchcock. On stage. It keeps. Long white gown. String

(01:21:27):
quartet by her side.

UU (01:21:37):
There is a star that shines. For all the world
to see.

S4 (01:21:43):
So far.

UU (01:21:44):
Away. My lover is. Please bring him home to me.
The world is weary and.

S4 (01:21:52):
Unrest has settled on us. Tonight. My Christmas wish will
be for.

UU (01:21:59):
All to hear. Because these are. Keep you near this

(01:22:22):
Christmas Eve. There is a. Are. Once the angel did.

S4 (01:22:37):
Appear to say, be not afraid that the angels watching
over you is the prayer that.

UU (01:22:45):
I will pray. As we gather round. The tree and sing.

S4 (01:22:52):
Those Christmas songs. We'll hear your.

UU (01:22:55):
Voice. And to your safe. He's on. I love. Keep your.

(01:23:20):
This Christmas Eve. There is a star. For you and me.

(01:23:43):
While we wait for freedoms.

S4 (01:23:45):
Bells to ring throughout the world. The Christmas wish remains
the same of every.

UU (01:23:54):
Boy and girl.

S4 (01:24:03):
Is that you'll be all.

UU (01:24:06):
This time to stay. And. The tree. Mary and. Shy.

(01:24:45):
For you and me.

S5 (01:25:02):
Absolutely beautiful.

S3 (01:25:03):
Thank you so much, Jess. You have the voice of
an absolute angel. You gorgeous thing. This is already been
a very memorable night tonight. My very first carols. And
here is someone else experiencing a first ever UDC.

S5 (01:25:17):
Thank you so much, Sarah. I am actually here in
the crowd. My first time sitting in the crowd. I
feel like you when you were two years old and
I'm having a very jolly Christmas as well, because I'm
sitting here with the chair of Virgin Australia Carols by
Candlelight tonight. Bill, it's great to have you here. It's
your first year as The Chair. How's carols going to
be tonight?

S23 (01:25:35):
The show is great.

S2 (01:25:36):
Thanks, David.

S27 (01:25:37):
This is a wonderful event, bringing back childhood memories of
when I was barely out of kindergarten, learning Braille and
other life skills. Carols was the key fundraiser for my
school back then, so it's a great Australian tradition, that's
for sure. And you and Sarah, you with your ten
years of experience and Sarah as a shining, bright new star,

(01:26:01):
you're doing a fantastic job to continue the tradition.

S5 (01:26:05):
It's well, it's an honour for all of us to
be here and all the performers donating their time, Bill.
But for those at home that want to donate, how
important is it tonight to donate and where the money
goes to.

S27 (01:26:18):
A fund raising funds raised tonight support our life ready
skills program for children developing their skills and. Providing emotional
support to their families and their parents across Australia. We
thank you, Australia for your generosity and I know it's

(01:26:40):
been a very difficult year for people physically, economically and emotionally.
So we're especially grateful and I wish everyone a very happy,
safe and peaceful Christmas season.

S5 (01:26:53):
Good on you though. Merry Christmas to you, mate. It's
been great hanging out with you these last few days, sir.
But you know what to do, gang. Go to give
to carols. Com the number's also on your screen. Back
to you, sir.

S3 (01:27:04):
Yeah, absolutely. Very well said there, Bill. It has been
a tough year for so many in Australia across the globe,
and it's wonderful to be able to share in a
moment of joy this evening. Thank you very much, David
and Bill jolly. But we are brighter together. And tonight
we've put two of Australia's brightest stars together. Marina Pryor is,
of course, a leading lady of musical theatre. And in 2023,

(01:27:24):
the King's Birthday Honours was appointed a member of the
Order of Australia. David Hobson is one of Australia's most
loved and decorated operatic and recording artists, and an Aria winner,
of course. But above all that, Marina and David are
close friends who are currently touring their show The Two
of Us. By the end of the year, they would
have performed over 180 shows together across this beautiful country.

(01:27:49):
Please welcome best buddies Marina Pryor and David Hobson.

S13 (01:28:11):
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

UU (01:28:16):
Everywhere you go. It's beginning to look a lot like.
Source in every. I've got. The prettiest sight to see

(01:28:39):
is the Harley that'll be on your own front of
a pair of hopalong boots. And a pistol that shoots
as the wish of Bonnie and Ben. Is again at
home and. It is going to start again. It's beginning

(01:29:00):
to look a lot like Christmas. Everywhere you go.

S13 (01:29:08):
There's a tree in the Grand.

UU (01:29:09):
Hotel and one in the park as well. It's beginning
to look a lot like. It's true. Miles will start
and the thing that will. Take a break. This is
the carol that. Right. Want to make a. 20 days.

(01:29:38):
I'm in Scotland. Where are you going? One. A lot
like Christmas. So the bells will start. And the thing

(01:30:01):
that'll make. It's the carol that you see. I've seen
it all. It's like with. David in. Ladies and gentlemen.

S13 (01:30:25):
And who else is in that dress?

S3 (01:30:28):
Marina's dress is a very full skirt. Purplish blue sleeveless
sequin bodice.

S4 (01:30:34):
Ladies and gentlemen, I would love now for you.

S28 (01:30:37):
To lift up your candles. Oh, look. So pretty. Lift
up your voices and let's.

S4 (01:30:43):
Sing in.

S28 (01:30:44):
And celebrate the joy that is Christmas for 2023 with
the angels.

UU (01:31:12):
Angels. We. Sweetly singing all the plays. In a moment
of losing grip. By echoing the joyous strains. We are

(01:31:45):
giving you this. Go. Go. Shepherds. Why this jewel? To me.

(01:32:15):
Why your joy, your strains prolong. Me, which is. Every song.
We are live in the city of. Three. Since then. Oh.

(01:33:02):
To the. And see. He was both the angels sing.
You know King. It is to this day. Oh, no.

(01:33:43):
One more last. Merry Christmas, Douglas.

Now Virginia Gay is Santos favorite security guard and she
is back. Early days. You would know Virginia from all sides. Yeah.
More recently, she chewed up the scenery with great glee
in Thank God You're Here, and was nominated for a
Logie for Most Outstanding Support Actress for After the Verdict.

S3 (01:44:17):
In 2024, she is artistic director of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. Busy, busy, busy,
that's for sure. But she's here, folks, and ready to
let rip with a wondrous version of Let It Snow.
Please put your hands together for Virginia Gay once more.

S4 (01:44:42):
Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is
so delightful. And since we've no place to go. Oh,
let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. It
doesn't show signs of stopping.

S15 (01:44:58):
I'm so sorry, but we.

UU (01:44:59):
Got some corn for popping. And the lights are turned
way down. Snow. Let it snow. When we finally kiss goodnight.
Just don't let it. It ties. All the fire is

(01:45:24):
slowly dying. And my dear, we are. But as long
as you love me so much. And it's useless that it's. No.
The fact that you.

S3 (01:45:48):
Full length Burgundy off the shoulder number.

UU (01:45:53):
How I hate going out with this. Don't know that
you really hold me. Right there all the way home.
I'll be. Whoa, whoa. It is frightful. The fire.

S4 (01:46:08):
Is so.

UU (01:46:12):
We've no place to go. No!

S4 (01:46:16):
Let it snow. Doesn't show signs of stopping.

UU (01:46:21):
But I got some call from. It's Walton without. Oh,
how I hate going out in the store. Out if
you really. Oh. On a diet. And my dear, we

(01:46:50):
are still goodbye. But as long as you love me
so love that it's no. Let it snow. Let it snow. Oh. Yes,

(01:47:16):
Virginia gave a comeback. Look at her.

S5 (01:47:20):
So much love and support coming our way tonight. Thank
you so much. Australia.

S3 (01:47:24):
Yes. You're watching Vigil Australia's Carols by Candlelight of course,
this year also brought to you by the new film migration,
which is the big movie for these holidays.

S5 (01:47:33):
Yeah, thanks to the makers, Illumination Entertainment, our audience last night,
as you can see here on your screens, they've got
a drone show above the Ball, which was so magical,
featuring all your favorite characters from illumination. There were some
minions there. Migration is such a fun movie too. It's
a really, really great movie about these ducks that are

(01:47:54):
trying to travel to find their way around. My kids
and I went and saw it last weekend. Oh yeah,
it was super fun. Look, we did Santa as a
drone show, so good.

S3 (01:48:03):
Look at that. I love how they can get into
any kind of formation you want, right? I'm gonna.

S5 (01:48:07):
I want a fun. Ah, fireworks over. I don't know,
I'm into fireworks.

S3 (01:48:13):
Let's just move on with the drones, I reckon. What do.

S5 (01:48:15):
You think? That two migration is a lot of fun.
It is only in cinemas from Boxing Day, people, so
be sure to check that out. And thanks again from
everyone at Universal Pictures. Thank you so much. It's incredible stuff.
It sure.

S3 (01:48:27):
Is. Now there will be some very proud parents out
there with our next performers. In fact, we should all
be proud. The Australian Girls Choir is known for its
inspirational performances, including at the Australian Open final and the
FIFA Women's World Cup. If you don't mind. Amazing! The
choir will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year.

S5 (01:48:46):
And the National Boys Choir, also the elite of the elite,
have had wide ranging experiences from Disneyland to Saint Peter's
in Rome. They were established in 1964, thank you very much.
And they just keep going from strength to strength. Well,
tonight these two proud institutions combine with spirit of the season.

UU (01:49:21):
It's the same. So. And whatever. Sometimes it's easy to.

(01:50:59):
By the way. Whatever it is you need to share.

S3 (01:51:32):
Those in purple tops over black pants, boys in gray slacks,
navy blazers over white shirts, and ties of the future
right there, aren't they? Do you see.

S5 (01:51:40):
How proud of you are? Congratulations, team. Have you ever
been in a choir or a stage production?

S3 (01:51:47):
Oh, of course. One word for you lame is.

S13 (01:51:51):
Oh.

S5 (01:51:52):
My God. Me too. Broadway, West.

UU (01:51:55):
End. Uh, Heidelberg. Yeah, that back.

S5 (01:52:00):
Represents. Let's go. Come on. That was all right.

S3 (01:52:03):
It was okay. It was like a combination from OMC
and Parade College. You know, we got together and we like,
belted out some tunes.

S5 (01:52:10):
Yeah, that's right.

S3 (01:52:12):
I was just in the chorus. But that's all right.
It's fun.

S5 (01:52:15):
Oh, no. I thought you'd be a fellow. You'd be
famous in there. I'd like to see you in Missoula. Um, well,
we're going to go from Heidelberg. Yeah. And we're going
to move over to Nashville, because that is where our
next performers are based. But they do have an Australian connection.
Bowen Young are Australian singer songwriter Clare Bowen and her

(01:52:35):
US hubby Brandon Robert Young. So if you're a fan
of the TV show Nashville, yes, love that show. Good, right?
You'll be familiar with them both. The duo have supported
Billy Joel and are just about to embark on an
intimate tour right around the country, so check out their website.
But we got them here first.

S3 (01:52:51):
That's right, they are here now. Joining them for a
real family affair tonight is Claire's brother, Timothy James Bowen.
You will be spellbound, we can promise you that. Singing
the John Lennon classic Happy Christmas War is over. Welcome,
Bowen Yang.

S4 (01:53:24):
Over.

UU (01:53:27):
You wouldn't just be by. And here is the deal one.

(01:54:08):
It's all. Stone. They reach an point. There is so.
Happy Christmas. Back and forth. One of our. A stop.

(01:54:39):
A very, very. I'm happy to be. Let's hope he.
Slices of bread. What have we done? Another year over.

(01:55:08):
So another one just. So happy Christmas. My. One. We're
in the deep one. All. Very Merry Christmas. And I'm

(01:55:35):
happy to. That's okay. That's always a good one. If you. Holy. So. No.

(01:56:25):
Is over.

S4 (01:56:30):
You won't. It won't is all. Over.

S7 (01:56:58):
Sometimes they'll be.

S39 (01:57:00):
You know, moments where I know. Sorry, I'm getting a
little bit emotional where I can see that Lucy is struggling.
You want so badly to help them, but then at
the same time, you don't want to help them too much.
It's a very challenging balance.

S40 (01:57:23):
I remember when we were in the hospital and the
doctor had said to us, listen, you know, your daughter
might be blind. I remember I had a I had
to walk to the car park to get something. And
I was on the way back and I remember thinking, oh,
you know, I hope, I hope that she's okay.

S39 (01:57:40):
The journey of getting a diagnosis was really hard, I think.
Congenital glaucoma isn't exactly very common. It was also because
we live in regional New South Wales.

S40 (01:57:51):
We struck up a conversation with someone at the hospital
and they they mentioned Vision Australia. Then we were lucky
enough to get in contact with an OT in our area,
and she came over. And really one of the first
things she did was really put us at ease.

S39 (01:58:02):
Ironically, this whole thing, this whole journey, if you like, it,
has made us so much stronger and brought us together.

S40 (01:58:10):
She is a bit cautious with her world, but she
definitely wants to interact with the world. One of the
things that Vision Australia been great about, explaining to her
how she can get the confidence to use things and
guide us to help her be the best version of herself.

S2 (01:58:32):
From the staff and volunteers of the Virgin Australia Radio Network.
We'd like to wish all our listeners the very best

S41 (01:59:04):
When it comes to kids sport, parents have lots of
questions like how much will it cost? Will my kid
get to play with their friends? How often do you
train and do I have to volunteer? But there's one
question every parent should ask what does the club have
in place to make sure my kids are protected? Don't

(01:59:25):
take child safety at your club for granted. Find the
important questions at play by the rules. Network and start
to talk.

S8 (01:59:34):
This holiday season. Spare a thought for the pits without food,

Right now, you're here to hear what's coming through your speakers.
But have you thought about how you can be here

On the Vision Australia radio network VA radio digital, online
at VA radio and on stations around Australia through the
Reading Radio Network and the Community Radio Network. You're listening
to the audio description presentation of Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight.

S2 (02:01:01):
And the reason that we are here is to help
light up the lives of children who are blind or
have low vision by donating to Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight.
Carols by Candlelight. Found fund. You can ring a Vision
Australia on one 800. 42 2077. That's 1842 77 or online.

(02:01:30):
Give to Carol's dot com. That's give to Carol's. Com
your donation will directly contribute to Vision Australia's Children's services
and life ready program. The program is designed to encourage
and support childhood development and the education of children and
young people who are blind or who have low vision,

(02:01:50):
so that they can form strong foundations and foundations for life, true,
meaningful participation and lifelong employment. We're looking for $1 million
fundraising target, so help us out. One 842 2077 or online.
Give to Carol's dot com. And Susie in that last

(02:02:12):
half hour we had some great holiday just continues to
amaze with her capacity as a performer.

S3 (02:02:17):
Are a real triple threat and all and the rest,
you know, writes her own stuff. Dancers wings can do
splits at the drop of a hat. I've seen her
do it. Um, but a great entertainer and a really
powerful voice and has a great way of engaging her audience,
I think.

S2 (02:02:33):
And I was most impressed also by the the National
Boys Choir and the Australian Girls Choir, the combination and
their song spirit of the season.

S3 (02:02:42):
I think there's something to be said about choirs is
great discipline for people in it. Um, so apart from
the music and the skills they gain, it's just that teamwork.
And as I said, a real discipline, which is so
handy in many avenues as people get older.

S2 (02:02:59):
And also Laura, Natalie, who is a great ambassador for
Vision Australia and her earlier performance.

S3 (02:03:08):
Was brilliant, absolutely brilliant, beautiful, clear.

S25 (02:03:11):
Voice.

S2 (02:03:12):
You're you're listening to the audio description of Carols by
Candlelight coming to you from the Sydney Myer Music Bowl
via the radio or the Vision Australia Radio. Uh network, uh,
help us to reach our target of $1 million by
calling one 842 2077. That's one 842 70 2077 or

(02:03:37):
online at Give to Carols. Uh, I think we can
just about go back to the The Music Bowl so little.

S42 (02:03:47):
Yeah, it was basically just trying to help me like
a just like with him, like rolling and then learning
how to sit. And then up until now, it's focusing
like his strength, how his legs are moving and his
knees hips. He's doing everything that I was concerned that
he wouldn't do. He can actually get there in his
own roundabout way. He's pretty strong, aren't you, mate?

S3 (02:04:12):
Boy looking at what he can do at home. He
sure is strong. Isn't he beautiful? Louis? There. Welcome back
to this very magical night. And what a beautiful story
of a mother and son who visit in Australia are
continuing to support.

S5 (02:04:24):
Yeah, their courage is palpable. And we saw the story
of Lucy before too, as well. I mean, and that's
where the message of tonight really comes in. So let's
all band together. Let's light up the lives of those
who are blind or have low vision. Vision Australia can
shine a light where there is darkness. Brighter together is
the motto. And that is all of us helping Vision

(02:04:45):
Australia to help others.

S3 (02:04:47):
So if you can, please do keep giving at Give
to carols.com or call one 842 2077 and we really
can make a difference together.

S5 (02:04:55):
Speaking of bright it together, it's time to let let's
raise our candles up. Can we all raise our can
and just see how gorgeous this audience is tonight? Look
at your waving around. Yeah.

S3 (02:05:05):
Isn't that beautiful? Sea of candles under a very dark sky.
It absolutely gives you goosebumps. I reckon. Right? Silhouetted city
skyline in the background and I don't know what's the word?

UU (02:05:18):
Grace. Yeah. That works.

S5 (02:05:23):
Yeah. Grace is the word going by our next act. Oh,
is it that time? I think it's the time. I
think it's the place. It's definitely the motion. All right.

S3 (02:05:32):
Everybody candles down. Good rehearsal. I got chills.

S5 (02:05:37):
Oh, yeah, I hear they're multiplying. Grace, the musical is
backed up. If you can guess by those puns. Kicking
off at Her Majesty's in Melbourne on December 31st and
followed by Sydney and Perth, an all new production that
is slicker, more electrifying than before.

S3 (02:05:53):
Oh, we are losing control up here. Let me tell you.
22 of the cast are here tonight, including Marcia Hine.

S5 (02:06:00):
Jayla, Gaia.

UU (02:06:01):
Patti Newton. It's the one that you want. Australia, honey.
That's going to be the last one.

S5 (02:06:10):
That's going to be the last.

S3 (02:06:11):
Time the cast of Grease the musical with Christmas baby,
please come home.

UU (02:06:21):
Morning walk. Walk, walk. What was. To me. What? Home town.
Christmas watching at home. Around. All the church bells in

(02:06:54):
town are ringing a song. You are smart. Can you
please call? You'll see in that. We are. Your pretty

(02:07:24):
lights on the trees now. Are you sure? You're with me.
My baby. Please come. Y y y. To me. You are.

(02:07:55):
The whole. Yeah. Under the. Eight years. Response. Response. Baby,

(02:08:19):
please please please please please. Swing swing swing swing swing.
We say, baby, please help me. Please. I. Wait, I mean.

(02:08:48):
These are. My baby. Please. I. Maybe she. My name is. Why? Oh, my.

(02:09:34):
Up and up and down. That is so good. Just fantastic.

S5 (02:09:38):
Go see the party musical of the year. And if
you can't wait. Marsha Hines is going to be back
very soon with a performance that you do not want
to miss. It's going to be one of the most
emotional moments of the night.

S3 (02:09:50):
It is great to have her back with the carols family.
The community feeling here is just so special. It's been. Look,
I mean, they are crowd favorites, aren't they? Especially Miss
Newton over there.

S5 (02:10:01):
Oh, it's so good to see Patti back here as well.
You can see it backstage as well. Let's go backstage
now and just see what's happening. You can see our
artists are having a bit of a catch I'm doing
I did have a bit of a nosh there. There
they are. There's Bonnie. Heather, you know, everyone loves.

S3 (02:10:15):
The 1980s grazing.

S5 (02:10:17):
Table. Mama, mama and Marcia.

S3 (02:10:19):
They good. I mean, we want to say big thank you.
Of course, to RJ. You're putting on this spread for us.
There's Virginia watching the food, making sure there's no risk
takers of those carrots. Yeah, she wanted to stick under
the tree before. There are, of course, all supporting Carols
by Candlelight.

S5 (02:10:33):
Tonight, IGA is all about community, and the network of
family owned businesses are very passionate about giving back, supporting
local producers, charities and communities that they live in and love.
From hosting all of that, hosting local Christmas carols and events,
supporting people who need a little bit of extra help
at this time of year. So coming up.

S3 (02:10:51):
At various stores.

S5 (02:10:52):
IGA are at the heart of it all. Look a
little happy face. They're enjoying it all, enjoying the Christmas
celebrations like us very much.

S3 (02:10:59):
Joy right? From our local family to yours. Merry Christmas
and thank you to IGA.

S5 (02:11:03):
So when do you, Sarah, and your household have the
big Christmas celebration? Well, we.

S3 (02:11:09):
Normally have our big feast on Christmas Eve, which is tonight,
but we moved it to Christmas Eve eve last night,
so we feasted. I just rolled on down that hill
after that face, let me tell you.

S5 (02:11:19):
Well, it's time for another one of our traditions. And
that is the Hallelujah chorus. Sarah is your first time.
I'm gonna allow you to do the honors.

S3 (02:11:26):
All right, here we go. This is Uncle Doug's moment
out front, conducting his choir. Get ready to raise your
candles once again and join in on this tradition as
the Carols by Candlelight Choir perform the Hallelujah Chorus.

UU (02:11:49):
Yeah. Are you? Probably. It's. So grateful. And the official referee. Salvation. You. He.

(02:13:29):
De la la la la la la la la. Oh.

(02:14:16):
May or may.

S3 (02:15:11):
John Foreman's party that is to for the big single
crash at the end. So special, so grand. Thank you
to Uncle Doug and your beautiful choir. Just incredible there.

S5 (02:15:20):
Now, our next performer was the original Frankie Valli in
Jersey boys. Also, fun fact four time Irish Dance champion
and only slightly above average master of ceremonies to send
his arrival tonight. But he got through a little disorganized,
but he got there always in demand. One of our
favorites and a great one of the great characters of
Aussie Stage. Please welcome back Mr. Bobby Fox with Christmas list. Bobby.

S7 (02:15:52):
He's in a white tux. Oh, mother.

UU (02:15:57):
Santa dances with gifts for girls and boys. There's frilly
things in. Dreams and every kind of toy.

S13 (02:16:09):
The tree is set up, sprinkling.

S16 (02:16:11):
With.

S13 (02:16:12):
My favorite.

UU (02:16:13):
Kind of light and faces glow because they all know.

S13 (02:16:19):
That Santa soon will fly.

UU (02:16:22):
All around this happy town. Good tidings for the year.
Because everyone knows.

S13 (02:16:31):
To the falling snow. They will soon appear. I'm filling
up my Christmas list. My favorite time of year.

UU (02:16:44):
But Christmas will soon be here. Oh. Good sightings fill

(02:17:22):
the air as everyone. He will soon be. I'm filling
up my Christmas list. It's my favorite. If a Christmas.

(02:17:44):
All around this happy town.

S13 (02:17:47):
Good tidings fill the air.

UU (02:17:50):
Cause everyone knows. To the falling snow. And they will
soon appear. Hi. I'm filling up my Christmas list. It's my.

(02:18:12):
It was to be. Then this is.

S5 (02:18:23):
Yes, he is Australia's Mr. Song and dance. Give it
up for Bobby Fox, everybody. Thank you Bobby. Thank you.
To his dances. His mingles dances there.

S3 (02:18:33):
That's a bit of mean girls.

S5 (02:18:34):
It does, doesn't it?

S3 (02:18:34):
Dominated I reckon. All right, well, while we're in the
mood of welcoming back, this lady just had to come back.
Of course. Sylvia Paladino has established herself as one of
Australia's most versatile and talented entertainers. She was incredible when
we saw her earlier in the night.

S5 (02:18:49):
Oh my God, what a glorious version. But she's just going.

S3 (02:18:51):
To blow you away even further. I mean to say
she's the voice of carols is an understatement, right? Mamma mia!
The King and I chess cats touring with Michael Bolton.
There's very little this incredible woman hasn't done.

S5 (02:19:03):
Just checking. Did she do all those shows this year?
I mean, I think she may. I mean, she could have.
That's the thing that she is absolutely. She can do anything.
And you know, year after year, we know that you
at home and everybody here in the ball waits for
that special moment when Sylvie comes out and just absolutely
lets rip on one of those very special songs, because
you can feel her passion for what she's singing. Come

(02:19:26):
to us at home or here in the bowl. You know,
Christmas is truly arrived when this lady hits the stage
once again singing O Holy Night along with the National
Boys Choir, please welcome Sylvie Palladino.

S4 (02:19:52):
Holy night.

UU (02:19:54):

He says for yonder. I knew I. Is more. Right to. Oh, no. Right.

(02:21:30):
Do you want? Good night. Steve. Is. As long as it's.

(02:21:57):
This means boys in red Rose. It's crazy. We. I

(02:22:43):
seem to. Wait for my jeep. Oh. He. Nine. There you.

(02:24:18):
Thank you. Jesus.

S5 (02:24:24):
You're watching Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight.

S13 (02:24:27):
Coming up, Aussie music.

S3 (02:24:29):
Treasure Marcia Hines.

S5 (02:24:31):
The cast of Miss Saigon, Groundhog Day and A Christmas
Carol combined.

S3 (02:24:36):
We also get a little wicked.

S5 (02:24:39):
David Hobson brings us home.

S15 (02:24:41):
But before all that.

S3 (02:24:42):

On the Vision Australia radio network RVA radio digital. Online
at RVA radio. Org and on stations around Australia through
the Reading Radio Network and the Community Radio Network. You're
listening to the audio description presentation of Vision Australia's Carols
by Candlelight.

S2 (02:27:38):
And this is the Carols by Candlelight uh. Audio described
version from Vision Australia Radio. John Westland and Susie Hill
is here with me and Susie. Uh, there is a tradition.
I understand when the Hallelujah chorus is performed. Now, that
was a spectacular performance tonight, a fabulous performance. But tell

(02:28:01):
me about the tradition. Yes.

S3 (02:28:02):
I sprung up to my feet immediately. It's an automatic reaction.
My history is not very good, so I don't know
which King George it was. But back some time at
the performance of Messiah or the oratorio by Handel of
the Messiah, when the Hallelujah Chorus was being sung, he stood.
So it's quite traditional. Not everybody does it, and it's

(02:28:24):
not a requirement by any means, but I'm a bit
of a traditionalist. So I was at an Australian Brandenburg
Orchestra concert last week, and as soon as they sing
Hallelujah Chorus, up I sprang and it's, uh, it's just
one of those traditions that have been held over amongst
classical music.

S2 (02:28:44):
And isn't tradition important? I mean, tonight is all about tradition. Tonight.
Tonight is a night of tradition. And yes, the Hallelujah chorus, spectacular,
but almost outshone by Sylvie, Sylvie Palladino.

S3 (02:28:56):
She's extraordinary. She has the most beautiful technique. And, um,
you know, she will tell you she's a Christian. And
I think when she sings them for her, there's that
extra special meaning which just glows from her depth. She sings. Yeah, absolutely.

S2 (02:29:12):
You notice how you just see how it swells and
how it comes out.

S3 (02:29:15):
Yeah. For her. Sundays for church.

S43 (02:29:17):
That's right.

S2 (02:29:18):
You're listening to the audio version of the Carols by
Candlelight from Sydney Myer Music Bowl. Let's go back. Rain. Well.
And truly settles.

S5 (02:29:27):
In over the bowl. We just want to give a
shout out to everybody up there on the grass. We're
all still here. We're still here with you ladies. Nothing's
gonna dampen your spirits up there. And if you've just
tuned in at home. Yeah. Oh, boy. Sarah, you have
picked the best time. You're watching Vision Australia's Carols by Candlelight,
presented by Amy. And this next moment is so special

(02:29:49):
for us.

S3 (02:29:49):
It sure is. We love when people say yes to
being on carols, and when the person saying yes just
happens to be Australia's greatest songwriter. Well, we couldn't quite
believe it. Yeah.

S5 (02:30:00):
Paul Kelly, he knows how this country feels, taste, looks,
he tells our stories. His mission is to keep creating,
keep exploring and telling those stories for us.

S3 (02:30:09):
And a testament to that mission is, of course, Paul
spending 2013 touring regional Australia, headlining the Red hot Summer
tour with Missy Higgins and Bernard Fanning, and his album
Paul Kelly's Christmas Train, rereleased this year and number one
hit All Over again at mania ranges from rousing rock
songs to traditional hymns, carols and ballads, and it truly
reflects the Christmas spirit in the southern hemisphere and contains

(02:30:32):
a sparkling new recording of How to Make Gravy.

S5 (02:30:36):
So it is a thrill to save these next seven words,
singing Silent Night. Please welcome.

UU (02:30:44):
Paul Kelly. Hello.

S44 (02:30:51):
Alice, Keith, San Nugent, silent nights, my favorite Carol. I'm
really happy to be seeing it. These guys are going
to sing it with me. Originally written in German, so
we're going to honor that with a German verse which
Alice will take the lead on Silent Night. Take it away, ash.

UU (02:31:23):
Oh. He is gone. Is. Beyond. And so. Slave. In

(02:32:01):
his sleep. Share. Cry. She. I. Look about. Oh. An

(02:33:34):
upper arm. Low kicking. So. Kid in blue shirt. Sloughing it. Silent. So.

(02:34:09):
Of course. It stays with. Jesus loves. Jesus. He says no. I.

S7 (02:35:01):
Porzingis with Paul.

S3 (02:35:03):
Now changing for a bigger group.

S44 (02:35:10):
My nephew Dan Kelly on guitar. And please welcome now
to the stage, Cameron Bruce on keyboards, on drums and
Bill McDonald on bass. There's not exactly a Carol. Doesn't
even have a chorus.

UU (02:35:29):
But it does have a recipe. Hello then.

S44 (02:35:57):
Is Joliet.

UU (02:36:00):
I hope you're keeping well.

S44 (02:36:05):
Is it? 21st of.

UU (02:36:07):
December. Not that ringing the lights. If I get good behavior.

(02:36:27):
Why don't you kiss my kids on Christmas Day? I

(02:36:49):
guess the brothers are driving down from Queensland. Stella's gliding from. Coast.

(02:37:10):
Who's gonna. Just that. Flour. Salt. And don't forget a
dollop of tomato sauce for sweet. This morning when I.

S44 (02:38:01):
I hear Mary's got a new boyfriend.

UU (02:38:10):
Remember the last one. What was his name again? You
never did get me to summon. But you could get yourself.
And here I want. All the trends are in. Didn't it?

(02:41:22):
Ladies and gentlemen, with a strong Christmas, Mr. Paul Kelly.
Mind blowing. And I have to say DC.

S3 (02:41:34):
I mean, we all love that song, right? But the
German version of Silent Night, my uncle is here all
the way from Germany. Actually. There he is, there he is.
So he would have understood every single word. So from
from him I say thank you, Paul Kelly, for that special,
special song. Yeah.

S5 (02:41:49):
There we go. Also, we'd like to thank Alice Keith,
Simon Nugent, Ash Naylor, the fabulous Jess Hitchcock and his
nephew Dan Kelly. What an absolute moment here at the ball.
The first time that's ever happened that felt special to
you out there. Yeah, it did right. It's certainly felt
special to us.

S3 (02:42:07):
It absolutely is it? I mean, that song gravy is
about someone who is alone at Christmas. And if that's you,
we're hoping tonight we've provided at least a couple of
hours of cheer and goodwill.

S5 (02:42:17):
Yeah, absolutely. Tonight is largely thinking about others lighting up
their lives in Australia. No, we are better together. And
together we can make a difference to people who are
blind or they have low vision. So please, if you
can tonight give online a gift to carols.com or one
842 27 if you know this. But just the other

(02:42:40):
day on Instagram, I saw that the movie of How
to Make Gravy, which has been written by Megan Washington,
is going to be out next Christmas, which is going
to be so special because that song, it does have
like a cinematic quality to it, right? The storytelling and
I don't know, I just we were oh, there's a
big crowd. Yeah. Backstage just there. This way. My jacket off.

(02:43:02):
I was like dancing along.

S3 (02:43:04):
Getting into the groove weren't you?

S11 (02:43:06):
I just it's one.

S5 (02:43:07):
Of those songs. Do you think this is. It's a
perfect Aussie song. It's so great. All right.

S3 (02:43:11):
We do have a problem, though. You know, we always
knew that this moment would come during the evening.

S5 (02:43:16):
Yeah. I mean, how do you follow Paul Kelly? Yeah.

S3 (02:43:18):
Well, exactly. That's pretty tricky.

S5 (02:43:20):
Very tricky. Oh, I.

S3 (02:43:21):
Reckon I know one man who could.

S5 (02:43:25):
Well, Denis has already performed two songs.

S3 (02:43:28):
We all love Dennis, of course, but of course, David Campbell,
I don't know. You seem to perhaps fit the bill.
What do we reckon, guys?

S13 (02:43:36):
No no no no no no. Wait wait wait.

S5 (02:43:38):
I feel like the sacrificial lamb to the slaughter here.
And I'm a vegan.

S3 (02:43:42):
And everyone loves lamb at Christmas, so you can just
rubbish your veganism for one minute.

S5 (02:43:46):
That's fine. I don't know about this. I feel like
I'm drawing the short straw in a manger.

S3 (02:43:51):
It's your 10th year at carols. What am I to celebrate?

S5 (02:43:57):
It just doesn't feel right. Normally I have a new
jacket and I don't. I don't have a jacket to
sing in. Shiny new jacket. Oh my God. I don't
even know if this even fits. John, don't stop playing
the song. I know. Maybe we should just cut to
an ad break up.

S3 (02:44:11):
The youth grey jacket appears.

S5 (02:44:13):
It just feels silly.

UU (02:44:15):
I don't know, Jesse. The jacket fits well. It does
fit really well. Yeah, well that's singing. That's that's my.
I love this song. Love this song. I know you
love this song. I love this song. It's just really like,
maybe I should maybe give it a go. Jesus. Oh,
my God, I just found this microphone. Sarah. It's almost
like I should go. Meant to be. H. O.

S13 (02:44:42):
Jingle bells, jingle bells. Jingle all the way. Oh, what
fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh.

UU (02:44:52):
Jingle bells, jingle bells. Jingle all the way. Oh, what?
And it is to try and.

S13 (02:45:03):
Dashing through the air a one horse open sleigh. Over
the fields we.

UU (02:45:10):
Go laughing all the way. Bells on bobtail ring make.
And spirits by. What fun it is to ride and
sing a sleigh and so on. Jingle bells, jingle all
the way. What fun it is to ride in a.

(02:45:32):
Horse open sleigh. Jingle bells, jingle bells jingle. It is tonight.
And what? Jingle bells. Jingle all the way. Well, fine, Mr. Ryan.

(02:46:04):
Of course. Of course I can't. Everybody get your lights
up in the air. Let's play. All right.

S14 (02:46:18):
Dashing through the snow.

S13 (02:46:20):
Snow in a one horse open sleigh.

UU (02:46:23):
Over the fields we go. We go laughing all the.
McCann's parents by. One fire is to. Go. Bells, jingle bells,
jingle all the way. Oh, what fun it is to

(02:46:47):
ride in a one horse open sleigh. The best jingle bells.
All the way. It is to ride in a wild. Yes,

(02:47:07):
we go dancing. And more harshly. So much. And to
think you didn't want to do that. Do you see?
I don't.

S36 (02:47:20):
Know.

UU (02:47:21):
How good was he, guys? Some might say you're a natural.

S5 (02:47:26):
I thank you guys so much for doing that. Somebody
had to follow gravy and I was very happy to
do it. And thank you John Foreman and the amazing
band here tonight. Whew. That was a real thrill.

S3 (02:47:38):
I know it was fun to watch as well. All right. Now,
of course, the question remains, how do you follow David Campbell?

S5 (02:47:43):
Ah. That's easy. No, it's not that easy. Oh, no.
Particularly when the next act is one of the most
electrifying performers in the country.

S3 (02:47:52):
Oh, I hear you. Yes, of course, because his debut album, Gurrumul,
topped charts worldwide and recently notching up his 10th consecutive
number one in the world music genre with his single ukulele.
Please welcome Mitch Tambo with Away in a manger.

S45 (02:48:18):

We both like to wish you a very Merry Christmas.
Eat lots of food. That's my motto. Yeah. Oh, yes.

S46 (02:52:23):
Have a merry Christmas.

UU (02:52:24):
And a very safe and happy New Year. Peace. Hi everyone.
My name is. And I'm Chandler and we're hoping everyone

the hottest tickets going right there on that stage. Yeah, they.

S5 (03:01:39):
Really do deserve a plug. A Christmas Carol, which I
saw the other night. It's amazing. It's playing at the
Comedy Theater from Melbourne Comedy Theater here in Melbourne until
January 7th.

S3 (03:01:48):
Featuring O'Neill, who kicked us off tonight with that amazing recitation. Regrettable.

S5 (03:01:52):
Miss Saigon is going to be at Adelaide's Festival Theatre
from the 2nd of January. And of course, Groundhog Day,
playing exclusively at Melbourne's Princess Theatre from the 24th of January.
So get out there, see some Australians, do some great theatre.
And a big thank you to GWB entertainment, the producer
of all three of those shows.

All right. In a night of jaw dropping moments, we
have got another one. This voice will stop you in
your tracks. Wilson is a true soul singer, but with
phrasing all her own.

S3 (03:02:38):
Two years in America, working with Grammy Award winning writers,
currently touring with the Teskey Brothers through to February, and
has released her instant classic debut album, Those Days Are Over.
You're about to see why she's not slowing down anytime soon,
singing This is Christmas. Please welcome to the stage, Wilson.

UU (03:03:04):
I. All the mistletoe. I'm gonna get to know you better.

S3 (03:06:05):
Tonight is about family. And this one guys is going
to be pretty gorgeous. Simon Gleeson and his daughter Molly. Yeah.

S5 (03:06:12):
Their family is theater royalty. Simon. Of course, we all
know for his acclaimed interpretation of Jean Valjean and Cameron
Mackintosh's production of Les Miserables, that was in the UK,
not in Heidelberg. And his wife, his wife Natalie, was
the star of Mamma mia! And many other great shows
as well.

S3 (03:06:32):
And Molly has always been in love, of course, with
song and dance. How could you not be right? Starting
at just three years of age singing The Little Drummer Boy,
make them super welcome. Simon and Molly Gleason.

S5 (03:10:23):
Sometimes I think cows can take you to a whole
other place. The woods, the performance, the orchestra, what you're
about to see next from this act that's going to
come on stage. You've seen them a little bit earlier tonight,
but is something that is going to be truly magical.
In the rehearsals. This just stopped everybody in their tracks.

S3 (03:10:39):
It really did. I think it was one of the
first performances that we saw during the rehearsals. I mean,
it is quite incredible. With the career spanning five decades,
22 albums sold, 2.6 million copies sold countless chart topping
singles and multi-platinum records globally. I'm exhausted just thinking about DC,
but honestly, Marcia Hines is a national treasure.

S5 (03:11:01):
Why She is the highest is not going to quit
at all. Aerial Hall of Fame Order of Australia A
fantastic new album called The Gospel According to Marcia, which
is celebrating her musical roots and memories. Somebody stopped me.
There is something very special about her.

S3 (03:11:17):
Absolutely no. If you want to be lifted up this Christmas,
given a helping hand, this one is for you, Marcia
Hines and Amazing Grace.

S4 (03:11:31):
Amazing grace. How sweet the sound. That saved a wretch
like me. I want. It was.

S13 (03:11:59):
Lost.

S4 (03:12:00):
But now I'm found. Was blind, but now I see. He.
To us.

S4 (03:13:20):
The sound that saved hundreds.

S4 (03:13:45):
I found was the line, but not.

UU (03:13:54):
Oh I see.

S4 (03:14:04):
Was built.

Hi, this is Usman Khawaja from the Australian cricket team
for Rad recording artist, actors and athletes against drink driving
in cricket I've had some great reasons to celebrate and
it's even better to celebrate with my teammates and friends.
But when I do, I always plan ahead. It's not hard.
So if you plan to celebrate, arrange a designated driver
who won't drink, and if it's not right to drive,

(03:16:54):
do whatever it takes to stop them from getting behind
the wheel because mates don't let their mates drink.

S32 (03:16:58):
Drive rad. Check us out on Facebook.

fool of himself with a giant carrot.

S3 (03:22:50):
Now, before the opera singer and comedian hit the road
with their entails double act starting March next year, we

to you, David Hobson with and the Holy City.
