Het Klimaatplan is de leidraad voor het klimaatbeleid de komende tien jaar. De Raad van State had behoorlijk wat kritiek op het concept. Wat is daarmee gedaan?
Het eerste Klimaatplan stamt uit 2019 en in de Klimaatwet is vastgelegd dat het kabinet elke vijf jaar een update moet maken van het plan. In deze podcast aandacht voor de uitgangspunten en inzichten aan de hand waarvan het klimaatbeleid wordt vormgegeven, (denk aan rechtvaardigheid en economisch perspectief) en de sleutelfactoren die de uitvoering ervan beïnvloeden (denk aan netcongestie, financiering en de arbeidsmarkt).
Energierapporten zijn verplichte kost voor iedereen die de energietransitie wil begrijpen. Maar waar haal je de tijd vandaan om die studies tot aan de voetnoten door te lezen? Daar heeft Energeia de oplossing voor: Voetnoten, de podcast waarin complexe rapporten, studies en droge teksten helder en begrijpelijk worden besproken door energiedeskundige Laetitia Ouillet en Sabine Sluijters.
Veel is een voortzetting van bestaand klimaatbeleid. Wel nieuw is de introductie van een "tweede spoor" voor het klimaatbeleid: koolstofverwijdering, het actief verwijderen van CO2 uit de atmosfeer. "Dit kwam echt uit het niks", zegt Ouillet. "In het vorige Klimaatplan kwam het woord niet een keer voor. In deze versie 124 keer." Dit tweede spoor komt naast het bestaande beleid van reductie van de uitstoot.
De Raad van State had waardering voor het Klimaatplan maar had er ook best wat op aan te merken. Zo vindt de Raad dat het EU tussendoel van 90% CO2-reductie in 2040 wettelijk moet worden vastgelegd. Ook vindt de Raad het goed dat het kabinet stevig inzet op koolstofverwijdering, maar waarschuwt tegelijk dat het niet alleen beleid moet maken, maar ook moet werken aan een snelle uitvoering daarvan. The Burden
The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole.
