Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, let's get to it, folks. Lots to talk

(00:01):
about the college football world. What that's going on at Clemson. Well,
we already know times were bad, but let's talk about
it now. It's time for the campus coder.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Let's get it. Well, first of.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
All, the SMU Mustangs twenty consecutive conference wins they've had
from back when they were in their old conference to now,
so they have not lost an ACC game yet.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
So they are rocket and rolling.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
They've gone down or they went down to Clemson and
beat them thirty five to twenty four, and so SMU
now is back in the chat when you talk about
ACC championship game. They lost a couple of games early
to their in state rivals TCU and Baylor. They are backing,
rolling and Kevin Jennings is getting it in. It's gonna
be a good quarterback rankings this week because there's gonna
be some massive shaking up going on.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
All right.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
So now for Clemson when we look at what's going
on there over a year since their.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Last home power for.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Victim, with the last coming against Virginia last year, and
this game, man, the offensive line is gonna be a
tough week for you. But I don't even know if
that's gonna fix it. Their inability to establish the run.
They averaged one point two yards per carry. They gave
up four sacks, eight tackles for lost. They ran the
ball thirty times for thirty five yards.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Okay, that sounds like movie numbers.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
And then we don't use advanced metrics very much when
we talk about college football. Their PFF run block great
as a unit, was a fifty two. It was the
worst of the season. But they have had five games
in total with grades below sixty and they only had
one explosive play four twelve yards.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
So man, it's tough.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Right now, Let's hear from Dabbos swinging first, and then
we'll start to dissect. Let's listen to the messaging that
he's sending out. Is it's starting to sound like a
broken record.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Well I can't. I mean, there's not much I can't
say other than just let's go back to work, and
you know, this is a tough year, uh to this point,
but the year's not over, you know, So that's all
I could say is, you know, we hopefully have earned
a lot of credibility around here. There's been a lot
of great years A lot of great years, and but
this is a tough one. But we're going to try

(02:15):
to fight our way and finish this thing the very
best that we can, and then we'll we'll start over, just.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Like we do every year.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
You know.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
That's what we do. Every year.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
We have a great year, we have a tough year,
you know, we we start over and then you go
back to work. That's what we've always done. And but
we've had we've had a lot of success, you know,
so but right now we're not. And you know, I
take the good with the bad. I don't like it,

(02:45):
but I just that's just my perspective, and I know
something good will come from it. And so I promise
you though ain't. I've never worked harder and I'm gonna
continue to do everything I can and we'll be back.
We'll win more championships. We'll win more championships, all right,

(03:05):
I promise you that ain not happened this year. But
we're gonna win more champions obviously, that's all I can say.
And I think we have a track record that demonstrates that.
But you know, certainly I don't blame them. I'm disappointed too,
We're all disappointed. We're incredibly frustrated. But well we we

(03:26):
that's where we are, and I take full responsibility for that.
All I can do is keep working and see if
we can find a way to win the next game.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
All Right, Man, that was starting to sound like a
broken record in my opinion. I mean, we've heard this
speech I think at least four times this season, and
so for that boy being, I guess what else can
you say? There's a lot of uncertainty in the future
Clemson football. In my opinion, I wonder how many defections
that he will have. But this team one thing gona
give him. I mean, they're still playing hard, but this

(03:55):
was a pathetic performance by Clemson for them to get
beat like this. Ye SMU and the way in which
it happened. Thirty cares for thirty five yards. Dabo's messaging. Man,
we get it, we know the history that you've had.
But when you keep harping on it every single week,
after every single loss and just telling people, hey, remember
what we did and you know I can still coach
and we're gonna win more championships, we don't, you know,

(04:16):
it's starting to get tiring.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
Yeah, when you start talking about the past more than
the president. It's not great for you. Hey, remember when
we were winning all those championships. Remember when we were
winning ACC championships. Yeah, but Dabo, you're not going to
get there this season. And I understand you understand that,
But why do you keep going back to it. Well,
the reason you keep going back to it is because
you want to try to bolster your resume when people

(04:39):
call your job into question, and that's why you're doing it.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
It's a rough scene.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
Doesn't sound great when I listen to that press conference
from Dabo. It's a lot easier to sound like the raw,
raw guy that everybody falls in love with when you
are winning a whole bunch of football games, and he's
deserved to get the benefit of the doubt. I don't
think that Clemson should fire him. I think that would
be a little wild at this point, especially with Clemson's
reputation being built because of what Dabbo was able to build.

(05:03):
That's the only reason that you're able to have these
lofty goals. Don't fire Dabo. I don't think they would
fire Dabo. But yeah, it's it's rough out here. Where
now are we really calling into question Clemson's ability to
get to a bowl game with Duke, Florida State, Louisville, Furman,
South Carolina still left on the schedule. And no, it's
not like that is the most monstrous juggernaut of a

(05:25):
schedule left in college football. But it's just enough with
how bad you've been playing for me to question whether
you get to a bowl game. I would pick Duke
November first. I got the Blue Devil's winning that game.
Florida State seems like a toss up. Louisville seems like
you're going to be.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
You really think that Florida State's a toss up. Florida
State sucks. I'm like.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
They do, but I think, I mean, they at least
put up a fight against SMA, and I think they'll
win that.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
And I think FSU has quit more so than they
just think too. They've got some defensive deficiencies, but I
think that they quit.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Castellanos still plays kind of hard, but I think that
this team, you know, after consecutive losses three in a row,
I think that they've kind of thrown into towel. But Clemson,
I mean, at this point, it's like we keep on.
And sometimes I get caught up in it too, because
I was mad at myself for not picking SMU. I said,
I allow myself to get rocked to sleep and think
that because they had those two victories that they had
it they started to look better. Not that I thought

(06:21):
Clemson was going to go on some run, but I
still had questions about SMU and I just wasn't sure.
But this Clemson team, at the end of the day,
the defense is terrible, The offense is not great. The
Zenna played pretty good, but when you run the ball,
like I said, thirty times thirty five yards, that is poor.
They're still playing hard. I'll give them that. But the
thing is that I tweeted out during the game, I said,

(06:43):
I'll never be able to fully explain what happened to
this Clemson team. But at the end of the day,
I and I know a lot of other people, they
just got fooled by a lot of these players that
we thought were as good as the dynamic players they
had of yesteryear. Brian westco he's a good player. He
was the brightest spot that they've had on offense. He's
essentially a one trick pony, but he's been bothering. But TJ.

(07:06):
Moore was not and is not the type of receiver
I thought he was. They don't have a presence at
tight hand. Their offensive line is not even close. Okay.
And then the guys that were supposed to be these
top draft picks, Peter Woods, I love you dog, and
his PFF grades have been pretty solid this year, but
still I'm not feeling the impact from him.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
TJ.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Parker, in my opinion, has been nonexistent. It's just been
a lot of guys that we thought were gonna be
these all American type players that have been far from It's.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
The defense that's the most surprising. If you were to
tell me, guys, the wide receiving corps and the offensive line,
y'all are vastly overestimating them.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
I could have believed that.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
I'm not shocked, not even really all that surprise, because
all of their development was based off of all of
their I think expectations were based off of something we
hadn't really seen yet, maybe outside of Westco at the
early portion of last year.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
TJ.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Moore, it'll come. All these other guys their time is coming.
But the defense, we had already seen it. Peter Woods
and t J. Parker, We're really good. That's the most shocking.
Part of all of it is, Man, you have a
defensive coordinator that has done a great job at previous stops,
and you have all of this talent running around. I know,
we love Sammy Brown. I mean, there was a lot
of great film he put together at the back half

(08:21):
of last year on top.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Of him, and he's as this year. I agree with you,
But now.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
Here we are talking about the best defensive lineman being
the Purdue transfer.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Yes, cause, shout out to Will Hill. He's been really
good it.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
That's the guy that is to me, by far, the
most surprising thing about this Clemson football team. And you
know what, because they're not performing at a first round
NFL draft pick level anymore. That's the reason why they're
losing these games. Because if they performed at that level,
perhaps like they did last year, I think you would
salvage a couple victories.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
I think you would have beaten Georgia Tech. I think
he could have beaten.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
I don't know, maybe that's it, but even still, but
even still, I'd have a little more confident the rest
of the way. But man, that's the one that's most
surprising to me.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
And the thing I'll say is that you know, I've
always been a proponent that, yeah, Dabo and Clemson, they
get great recruiting classes and they like to develop their guys.
But for one, like I said, with all the defections
to either gods going to the pros, and I think
that that philosophy of that program is going to be
tested too. As far as guy's leaving that started at Clemson.
You may have some guys that say, hey man, this
is in what I thought I was gonna go somewhere
else to granted passes. But he's going to have to

(09:26):
hit the portal for offensive linemen. There's no ifens or
butts about it. They're too soft. He's going to have
to go in there and get some monsters. Bring in
some of those three thirty three forty type casts that
ain't playing no games. Go find some of those guys
that George has been getting, like sixty seven, three hundred
and sixty pound guards. By god, that guy's just frightening.
But Georgia's offensive line is frightening as well.
