In Concord, Okay.

No matter what you want to call it, you get
versatility out of this dog gone thing.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
It used to be your head. The All Star Race happened.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Then you get the six hundred, and then they transformed
the damn track and turn it into an.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Oval and Walker. There's only one rating that this could get,
and it is straight fire.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
And you get the Speedway Club with all the fire
full two.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Come on now, double fire, double Bay.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Only on Sports Radio ninety two point seven FM wfnz BG.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Yeah, he gave Charlotte Moterspeedway a double fire.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
It's history. He did it at the buildings. This is
the Western Walk.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
The show at one o'clock hour begins here on a
do it to It Tuesday DTT and we come to
you from the Channel Voter Studio, CV Injurylaw dot Com
at Cvinjurylaw dot Com. One call, that's all the Carolina's
personal injury lawyer so we've been having some good Panthers
discussion going on. Also over there on the fand text line,
we got a lot going on. We're talking about quarterback

(01:29):
development or lack thereof. We're talking about one of your
least favorite things about the Christmas holidays coming up, and
you can tell me what are some of your favorites
as well.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Been talking about Philip Rivers.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
We got it all going so let us know what
you are thinking on the fan.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Do a text line and.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
A lot of you guys, I know you're enjoying some
time off, just chilling at home and you got your
day plan, so hopefully you are listening to us while
you are zooming around the Queen City or wherever you
may be.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
All right, So it's time to get to it.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Man. This transferred porter is getting high and heavy, so
let's get to talking about it. It's time for the campus.
Come on to do it to it Tuesday, all right,
North Carolina Fans. North Carolina quarterback, according to Pete nay
cooas of on three, is expected to return to Chapel
Hill in twenty twenty six, and he will be throwing

(02:19):
the football from a Bobby Patrino offense it was a
little bit of well confusing yesterday, but I believe they
did say now it is official that he is there.
Are they still saying that everything's not eyened out.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
I have not seen anything this morning that has said
it is official. According to Pete Thamil of ESPN, he said,
there are still multiple steps that have to be taken
before he is officially hired by them.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Really what it means there.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Are some boosters, there are some people that are involved
with the with the program or the trustees members, somebody saying, yeah,
we really don't like this choice.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
And it's like with Fitty brought up. I'll give him credit.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Last night on the podcast when we were discussing this,
he said, right out, you gotta let Bill Belichick hire
his own staff. I mean, if you guys are going
to put him in power, you've got to let him
make decisions. You would let any other head coach make
decisions like that. And look, man, Bobby Petrino, there is
some stuff in his past.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
There's no doubt about that. There's fourteen years ago, guys.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
You know what he's done since then, been a head
coach at Louisville, been a head coach at Missouri State,
been an offensive coordinator at Texas A and M, and
he's been the OC and then eventually the interim head
coach at Arkansas.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
That's a long time ago.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
So mean, look, I'm some people will say that he's
not the cleanest guy that you could possibly get. You
knew it wasn't gonna be the perfect candidate because it's
the Bell Belichick experiment here at UNC. But at the
same time, I think he's a guy that would be
a really solid higher for Carolina and I hope it
gets over the finish line at some point.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Yeah, that's saying that they received backlast too, after the leak.
You know, after the leak that he was going to
be hired, So people have had a lot to stay liner.
So it sounds like you are dead one point, all right.
So with Goo Lopez coming back, that means that two freshmen.
Bryce Baker will be entering the transfer portal. Now once
he was a very talented recruit for North Carolina, maybe

(04:19):
looked at as even the future of the program. He
was a top sixty five recruit, number nine quarterback in
the twenty twenty five class according to ON three.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
But let's talk about Geo Lopez.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
He threw for seventeen hundred and forty seven yards ten
touchdowns this season as well, and then also too let
me get up his numbers because they did not put
his rushing numbers in there.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
But also he was somewhat like a three thirty three
and three I think for something.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Threat that he was coming from South Alabama where they
utilized his legs a lot more, and frankly, that's something
that I thought we were going to see a lot
more of. So with Goo Lopez remaining in Chapel Hill,
and we know that he struggled a lot of the
seas and we've had different opinions. You have not been
a fan of his. I felt like he's had his flaws,
But I also felt like that receiving corps lack the

(05:07):
requisite speed and playmakers felt like they were trying to
kind of force around you know, what's the saying force
a square peg into a round hole.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Yeah, they were trying.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
To do a little bit of that as well with him,
And that's why I felt like we didn't necessarily get
to see the Geo Lopez that I thought it was
coming to North Carolina. But now this also means Bryce
Baker exits, and I know that for a lot of
you guys, you were excited about getting him and felt
like maybe he was the future of the program. So
is this bittersweet news or is it just bitter.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
No, it's definitely it's definitely bitter sweet. I do think
that you do have Travis Burgess who you really like
in the twenty twenty six class that is coming up.
So ultimately he still has a chance to be the guy.
But the thing is is that, look, I love Travis.
I've had him on the podcast before, I've talked to him.
It seems like a great kid. He didn't come from

(05:55):
in state. We thought you were going from Sam to Rake,
you know, bridge bridge the gap a little bit, but
then eventually you're going to get to Bryce Baker as
another in state guy that was going to be able
to carry you.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
And the thing was he loved being Atario. I mean, you.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
Remember he was the guy that went out to mid
court with Bill Belichick last year when Bill Belichick got introduced,
So we thought this was really gonna work. Something never
really connected with him and Belichick, Like I knew in
the spring when I saw that he was, you know,
battling for the starting job, and then all of a sudden,
we come back in the fall and people are talking

(06:33):
about how this guy is potentially a potentially fourth on
the depth chart.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
I was like, how did that happen?

Speaker 4 (06:41):
Wait a second, he went from competing for the starting job.
Now you're telling me that he's behind Max Johnson, which
I get it. Max was coming back from an injury.
They didn't know that they were gonna have him. But
you're telling me our Turry Newkirk has beat him out
as well. And so at that point I knew he
was going to be a guy that would enter the
transfer portal.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
So that makes sense, Go Lopez.

Speaker 4 (06:59):
I mean, man, it's one of those things where I
give him a lot of credit. I told you this
in the break for sticking around, because it would be
easy to just say, you know what, I'm picking my
ball up, I'm going somewhere else. I'm not staying around here.
So I give him a lot of credit for that.
Should this stand in the way of Carolina bringing someone
in to compete with him, absolutely not go into the portal.

(07:22):
Get somebody that can come in and compete with him.
If there's a guy that you really love, like if
you got someone like Josh Hoover, like Sam Levitt.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
You should not turn.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
Those guys down if they are interested in coming to
Chapel Hill.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
That's how I look at it, all right, I found
it though. It seems like he's coming around. Man, we
might be having a good season away from you. Get
in that Geo Lopez seven to rock behind the board
because that thing he hit the Virginia game, he went
for five straight two hundred yard passing games and then
he in that state games. Yeah, the NC State game
kind of went downhill there, but he was well.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
The other thing to monitor, he got severely hurt in
that end. He's taking break his legs, so we're gonna
have to see how he progresses with that. That's another
reason why I think you gotta go get a portal
quarterback man, at least someone in the spring that can
compete with ur Terry Nuker.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
All Right, so Leonora Sellers South Carolina fans, you can
now rejoice because he is coming back. And like a
lot of these kids now, he had to make a
video about it. So let's play the sound and I'll
kind of describe to you to fill in the gaps.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
He'll get you a little bit of color.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
So let's hear Leonora's seller's message to the South Carolina fans,
and we get the music going.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
They're showing the stadium lights coming on.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
The stadium lins. He's jogging, folks. You know he's got
his hoodie on with his glasses. I don't like running
in glasses. They kind of fog up and might get
some drips of sweat in there.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
Home isn't the place you found. It's a place that
fawns you. Last season, it didn't in how we wanted.
It didn't in how I wanted. I know what I
left out there. I know what I'm capable of. That's
why I'm not running from it. I'm running toward it

(09:06):
because I believe in the staff. I believe in the
SLocker room. I believe in the state, this team, this place.
Twenty six isn't about coming back. It's about finishing, about
doing the louder, stronger together.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
Yo.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Yeah, se what where in a second? Willie p What
the heck was that?

Speaker 2 (09:28):
So he looks at his phone and he sees twenty
twenty six and he says, running back.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
That's at the end of the video.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
I don't consider myself old I'm forty two years old,
but call me old all you like, and I know
a lot of you are gonna agree with me with this.
I don't need a video for you to tell me
that you're back. I don't need to see you running
around the studio. I'm not the studio running around the stadium,
and you know this dramatic video to tell me you're returning.

(09:59):
He was ranked among the top three quarterback prospects for
the twenty twenty six NFL Draft before the season began.
He's thrown for over five thousand career yards thirty three
touchdowns to fifteen picks. He's rushed for nine hundred and
ninety five yards thirteen more touchdowns. In twenty twenty four,
he was the freshman Offensive Player of the Year from

(10:19):
the FWAA third team All SEC while leading the game
Cocks to a nine win season. Number nineteen finished okay
sophomore season zero. They went four and eight on the season.
He finished thirteenth among SEC starters in QBR after a
one and seven run through conference play. I get it
that the offensive line wasn't that great. I get it
that he lost some great weapons like a rocket standers,

(10:41):
but at the end of the day. This is what
we've been talking about. We've been talking about quarterbacks and
the development and things of that nature. And this is
a kid that you could see it. He's such a
tremendous athlete. I watched some of his high school footage
one day, and I mean, you talk about a man
amongst boys. He was two twenty five, two thirty out

(11:01):
there running around doing this thing. And the thing that
a lot of these coaches fall into the chrap of
is that they may want to develop the quarterback and
they look at the player and they said, Leonorace, you
got a guy open right there.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
But then he runs for sixty.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
Five yards and all right, well, you know, I can't
tell him nothing after he does that, and they keep
kicking the can down the road. It's just that my
problem with Sells is that I don't think that he
is a pocket passer. I don't think he's I don't
think he can play well from the pocket. I don't
think he can dominate from the pocket. And I guess
maybe when you look at the guy with that kind
of skill set, if he was able to do that,

(11:34):
he'd be absolutely unstoppable. But that is why my NFL
crystal ball on him is just not that great. And
then things like this kind of add to it. You're
making a video telling me you're coming back, so this
is about the brand and me getting out there and
doing all this stuff everything that doesn't have anything to do.
How about you show me on that video you watching
film learning how to read these coverages?

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Can you go one, two, three, four five?

Speaker 2 (11:57):
How about you show me that instead of this nice
little curative video that you made with your brand and
you want to put it out there. We already knew
you were coming back. We didn't need a video. We
don't need to see annything. How About we see you
come out next year and complete seventy percent of your
passes and you throwing it down a football field that

(12:18):
maybe a sixty percent clip, and you lighten up people
on the blitz and you hitting third and fourth guys
in your progression.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
How about that? That's what I want to see.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
Okay, so you can call me old all that you want,
but I'm just not feeling this video. I think it
just kind of plays into the stuff with a lot
of these guys now where it just focused on not
the right things. And with that said, also Aaron Nolan,
who was once a touted quarterback five star player. He
will be entering the transfer portal. He will be going

(12:47):
to his third school. He once was a highly touted
recruit for the Ohio State Buckeyes, top five quarterback in
the twenty twenty four Rivals Industry rankings. He will be
exiting South Carolina after the return of Leanor's sellers and
also a big entry to the transfer portal is now.
Buyerm Brown of South Florida will be out there now.

(13:09):
He's got his flaws as well, but he told her
forty one hundred and sixty six yards, forty two touchdown,
seven interceptions. Man, I would love for him to come
play for those Demon Deacons. I feel like they did
a team around here. They could use him the most
when we talk about local Power five teams.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
But I don't think that.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
The Demon Deacons will be able to get him for
the right price because founder they're talking about out here
on the quarterback market, four to five million dollars is
what you're going to pay for a top tier signal caller.
And they said a lot of these guys on it
aren't worth that much money. But that's the going right
right now. It's going to continue to go. That could
be a whole nother discussion. I'm not even going to

(13:46):
get into that the direction that we're heading right now.
When you have quarterbacks that out here asking for five
million dollars college football, lordy, lordy, lordy. We are in
a tough spot here. But we'll talk about that. Give
me some more of your what do you think about
these quarterbacks returning? What do you think about these quarterbacks
hitting the portal? We'll get to that on the other side,
But then we're going to go around the NFL. Are

(14:08):
you buying the forty nine ers as a legit Super
Bowl contender? At the last night's performance, Sports Radio ninety
two seven WFNZ.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Welcome Back. This is the Western Walker shows.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
West and Flounder holding it down as Walker Mall is
in knap Town holding it down with the family for
the holidays season. Going over to the FanDuel text line
seven oh four five seven ninety six ten CP and
Mount Hogley said Leonora Sellers. He says he could have
hit us with a quick version of that. The MJ
backfacts would have been sufficient. Excel defender, says Chris McClain

(14:54):
wes KB on the list of AARP, go back into
the old days on football with the true twelve dollars
a month, with the twelve dollars a month.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
What is that? Do you know what he's referencing. I
have no idea. I think it's some again, some reference
to AARP because he no doubt about it.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
All right, Well, you know, Jay Richards says, oh yeah,
he was talking about going back to our holiday or
people walking around slow. In the discussion, he was talking
about costcos and the grocery store saying people need to
get up out of the way, and Huntersville. Bill said,
Patrino is a waste of human flesh. He has shown
you who he is multiple times, and not all of

(15:34):
it was ancient history. Go ahead and go ahead, t
our heels and continue to sell your soul, but don't
be surprised when people turn out to be exactly who
they are. I forgot about the falcons thing though now
that that just comes to my mind when I was
thinking about that. How he did uh the falcons that
time as well. So yeah, he's not the most likable guy.
But as I said, when you can coach.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
As likable on that stuff, to be honest with you,
let's let's just be real. That's crazy.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
You guys would be like the WW or the WCW.
The Carolina coaching staff is like the nWo. They're like stars,
big stars, and people just hate them. Like you got
just multiple guys. There's nobody on there that fans enjoyed
because of the personalities or things that they've done all
that stuff. So yeah, you guys have quite a polarizing staff.

Speaker 1 (16:22):
I would say in Chapel Hill yet that.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
It's gonna be more successful than Freddy Kitchen. So for me,
all right, let's see it.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
All right.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
So, also, folks, you can follow us on social media
WFNZ on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. You can hit us
up at HTB Anthony, at West Burin, Understep, Underscore seventy two,
at Walker Male, and most importantly at West End Walker.
So some great college football discussion that turns for portal
is rolling Man before five million dollars, No wonder Diego

(16:56):
Pavia was trying to get another year because he's like, Hey,
I know I'm not gonna at the NFL bag that
I've been seeking, so let me make sure I get
as much money in it.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Not after that display, after the Hedsman ste Yeah, because
I mean you think about it.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
Man, you get five million, and you've already been getting
good nil money. Like they said, no one of these
guys aren't crying anymore when they get drafted because I'm like,
I'm sitting if I'm making five million. I mean, you
definitely want to make the league because the quarterback money
is insane. If you can get into the league and
ball out. But still that's a lot of money. Man.
It if you a guy, if you have enough self
awareness to know, I'm not an NFL quarterback, Okay, you

(17:31):
know that you're not going to be of that ilk
and you've already made seven, eight nine million dollars.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
I mean, where's the loss here? Okay, Like you're good.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
You can hold off on being that insurance guy for
quite some time, trying to open up your own business
or whatever it is you want to do. All Right, folks,
let's talk about it. Let's go around the NFL. Lots
of good, juicy topics to talk about. So let's start
with's last night when you talk about the San Francisco
forty nine ers defeating the Indianapolis coach. We've been talking
about Philip Rivers all right, guys, you gotta give me.

(18:03):
You know, I'm trying to deliver the news here and
have some good discussions, So don't be sitting up here.
Oh yeah, here's west to talking about brock Party. No, no, no,
I just got to deliver you the news as it happened.
So the forty nine Ers were able to get the
win if you weren't able to tune into it last night,
forty eight to twenty seven. I was a little worried
there Washington game at first because the forty nine Ers

(18:23):
defense has not been that great this year. It felt
like they could not stop the coach and I felt
like that the coach were probably on a heater, and
I'm like, man, this is going to be a tough
game to get through.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
But rock Party, my man.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Two hundred and ninety five yards, five touchdowns with an
interception that came off of ricochet off of receivers hands
nine has improved to eleven and four put themselves in
further position to get the number one seed. First five
touchdown performance of his career, first Niners quarterback to ever
throw five or more scores on a Monday night, and
also the first San Francisco quarterback since Steve Young to

(18:56):
throw five or more touchdowns in any game, and since
the Panthers game and he has thrown nine touchdowns to
one interception as well. And San Francisco's offense has not
punted in one hundred and thirty three minutes and thirty
five seconds of game time.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
The punter is just chilling, they said.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
This is the first time since at least nineteen fifty
that the forty nine Ers have gone two straight games
without punting, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, and they
are one of six teams to accomplish that feat in
the regular season during the Super Bowl era.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
I listen for you.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Guys that want to say, all you West, it's just
being a Home of Force team. I didn't even have
the forty nine Ers in the playoffs before the season.
I thought with all of the injuries that they had,
I just was finding it tough to see them really
making hey with what they had. But this offense as
of late has been picking up the slack because this
defense is not great. It is not up to the

(19:50):
normal standards, even though they're capable of getting stops. They
run that system from Robert Sala that Ben but don't
break and they're able to. You know, they got the
late interce that they house for a pick six at
the end of the game yesterday. But man, it's tough
for me right now. But when I look at the
landscape of football in general, I don't feel like there's

(20:11):
a clear favorite. I don't feel like that there's a
team that you just look at and you're just incomplete
awe of and you say, man, how is anybody going
to beat that team? Like the Philadelphia Eagles were last
year where they looked head and shoulders above many teams.
So do I think that the San Francisco forty nine
ers are Super Bowl contender? And I'm not saying that
because I'm a huge fan of the team, but I

(20:31):
really feel at this point it's anybody's game of the
division leaders right now. You tell me if any of
these teams feel like that they are unbeatable at this point.
And I know that everybody can be beat, yeah, but
I'm talking about just teams that you feel like, Okay,
this is the team to beat. They're going to have
a hard time losing. The New England Patriots hit on
top of the AFC East young quarterback, they still got

(20:53):
some loser.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
I love to say it now.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Yeah, Pittsburgh Steel is absolutely not Jacksonville Jaguars. Yeah they're strong,
but no Denver Broncos. Let that defense. But no Philadelphia
Eagles this year. You're shaky on them, the Bears them.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
No, Carolina is sitting on top right now. We know
that they still need time. And the Seattle Seahawks really
good team.

Speaker 4 (21:14):
But that's where you would feel like if you had
to bet right now, I think you're betting the winner
of the Super Bowl comes out of the NFC West.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
And see, I still feel like that a lot of
people will still pick the Rams. And all right, lemonhead Johnson,
we're talking forty nine ers. This is around the NFL. Okay,
I just can't help that they played the Monday night
game last night, So I'm sorry nobody's sitting up here
doing San Francisco radio. But all right, yeah, So you know,
I think a lot of people will still put the

(21:43):
money on the Rams because of Sean McVay. He's got
the experience of winning one. He's got a quarterback that's
one one for him in Matthew Stafford. So I think
a lot of people would go there. So yes, I
do think that the forty nine ers are legit Super
Bowl contenders right now. I just don't see any team
out there the forty nine ers included that you feel
like should be a lot to be able to win
this thing. All right, So a team that we just

(22:04):
talked about, Clemson fans, stand up, your boy is finally
starting to ball out and be the guy a lot
of people thought he was gonna be. Trevor Lawrence threw
three touchdown passes, ran for one. He led the Jaguars
to a big time thirty four to twenty one win
that snapped Denver's eleven game winning streak. I was definitely

(22:24):
surprised by this result. I thought, even if they won,
they weren't gonna be able to go up there and
put thirty four points on that defense. But Trevor Lawrence
did just that. Over the last six weeks, Jacksonville has
outscored their previous five opponents, won seventy one to seventy two.
And this was Trevor Lawrence's best performance of his breakout

(22:45):
season that he put on against the Denver Broncos. I mean,
he was absolutely outstanding in this game. It looked like
he was back in the Clempson days on this joint.
When you consider he went twenty three or thirty six
two seventy nine three scores and then goes for twenty
more yards and a rushing score in this game against

(23:06):
the best defense in football, that was quite a performance.
I do think again, for the same reasons that I
think San Francisco is a Super Bowl contender, I do
think that Jacksonville is because of the amount of young quarterbacks,
inexperienced quarterbacks that will be in these playoffs. Trevor Lawrence
does have one of the most historic wins in playoff history.

(23:27):
Jacksonville's defense is playing really well. They have one of
the best point differentials out there. Matter of fact, they're
top four in the league. When you look at it,
they're plus ninety eight and scoring differential top five or six.
I should say so, Yeah, I think Jacksonville's the real
deal as far as relative to the rest of the
teams in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
What's their youth.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Yeah, I would say, Look, here's the thing, it's about
getting to the super Bowl. So for me, I think
they can definitely get there. Who in the AFC really
scares you out of the teams at the top none
of them because they don't have experienced quarterbacks. That's the
thing that I think really plays in the favor of Jacksonville. Now,

(24:09):
I mean, there's not a ton of playoff experience there
for Trevor Lawrence, but you're talking about the second most
experienced quarterback in the playoffs is going to be CJ.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
Stroud. That's it. You got him, and you got Josh Allen.

Speaker 4 (24:22):
And the thing about the Buffalo Bills, we have learned
at this point you cannot trust the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
You just can't.

Speaker 4 (24:28):
And so I think anybody in the AFC I think
has a legitimate chance to make the super role. If
you make the playoffs, you've got a shot to make it.
I think the way that they're playing offensively certainly is
you know, is amazing to be finishing like this down
the stretch, And I would imagine their schedule down the

(24:49):
stretch isn't all that difficult either. So I think this
is a team that's gonna roll in there with a
little bit of momentum and that's gonna be something that
could be built on once they get there, especially if
they have a home playoff game or two.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
All Right, So moving on, talking about that. Let me
know on the FanDuel text line, what do you think
about the Jaguars? What do you think about the forty
nine ers? You know, a lot of y'all are throwing
hate my way just because that is my team. Because
you wouldn't be talking and saying the crazy things you
are if you didn't know that that was my team.
So I'm enjoying it. Keep the hate coming, all right.
So Drake May, a lot of people compare him to

(25:23):
Josh Allen. He had another big win to put on
his resume after he lost to Josh Allen the week
before Queen City's own Mayas Park's own Drake May got
in New England to a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns.
He brought him back from eleven points down to get
the victory, and so they returned to the postseason. They
clinched the playoff spot. In his second year under center,
he threw for three hundred and eighty yards and two touchdowns.

(25:46):
He went twelve for fourteen fo one hundred and thirty
nine yards in the fourth quarter, and the winning touchdown
came on one of New England's few productive running plays,
a twenty one yard run by Ramandre Stevenson with two
seven left, so Drake May has been dominant. Is it
fair to compare him to Josh Allen this early? I

(26:08):
would say I think that they have similar styles, but
I think it is a little bit unfair just because
of the size difference. Drake May is a good sized kid. Now,
he's no small potatoes out there. I mean he's around
two twenty five six'. Four BUT i, Mean Josh, allen
you talk about, big rough and rugged two forty five
two fifty six foot. Four he's able to run, it

(26:32):
able to, run take a lot of, hits take some
punishment from defenses that some quarterbacks can't, take and there
in lies the difference to me Is i'm not sure
That Drake may can fully just be able to run
around and absorb some of the same type of punishment
That Josh allen does and still be able to take
a licking and keep on. Ticket but what do you

(26:52):
think about? THAT i Resident. Carolina, YEAH i.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
Mean, look, MAN i think he's a spectacular. Player DO
i think that he Is Josh? Allen, NO i don't think.
THAT i think the comparison's. There you're what are you
comparing the fact that he plays in THE Afc. East
he's got a big, arm you. KNOW i think when
you look at, him he's an incredibly accurate. Passer that's
one thing that we. SAW i mean that over the
shoulder throw that he made the other, night that was.

(27:17):
SENSATIONAL i, mean that is a perfect. Throw we saw
that a few times At. Carolina it's crazy to believe
that that man didn't win anything of significance unfortunately while
he was.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
There but you, KNOW i think he's a little bit
different Than.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
Josh he's not gonna take nearly as many hits As josh.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Does he still is gonna.

Speaker 4 (27:36):
Run but one thing that was pointed out By chris
Collins worth the other night when you were watching the
broadcast is he said early in the, season you would
See drake talk the football and his head was. Down
he was looking for running. Lanes now you see when
he's stepping up in the, pocket he's stepping up to
complete the ball, downfield keeping his eyes down the. Field
SO i think he's progressed as the year has gone.

(27:58):
ALONG i think he's a fantastic. Quarterback BUT i wouldn't
put him necessarily In Josh allen territory just. Yet But
he's a young guy that is progressing in the right,
direction AND i think at the end of the, year
especially if he continues to be in THE mvp, race
you're gonna have to have the conversation about him potentially
being a top five quarterback in this.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
League, YEAH i would agree with, You, man he is,
definitely you, KNOW i would ADMIT i didn't expect him
to be this, good this, fast and For New england
to be this good this.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
Fast all, right we got to talk about it.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
Too man wants a trade target of The Carolina PANTHER dk.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
METCALF i think he showed you a little.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Bit of Why, man The panthers might not have gone
into that, pool because we saw him this weekend in
that game Against, detroit he gets into it with a,
fan grabs him by the, hair and pretty much gives
the guy a nice punch to take back to his hotel,
room his home wherever he is. At but he has
been suspended two games without pay by THE nfl for

(28:56):
conduct detrimental to THE nfl for initiating a physical confrontation
with the. Fan his actions violate the league, policy and
we know all the jargon that goes with.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
That, YadA, YadA, YadA.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
YadA he plans to appeal the suspension for more reasons than.
One if the suspension, STANDS Dk metcalf will forfeit five
hundred and fifty five, thousand five hundred and fifty six
dollars for the two.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Games the suspension would also void.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
Forty five million in future guaranteed, money according to his,
contract which was reviewed BY Cbs.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Sports IN, espn you hear conflicting.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
Reports there was one report that said the guy called
him by his full, name WHICH i hope That, god
that's not the reason he would go over. There BUT
Dk metcalf and according to some guys were saying that
there were some racial slurs that were. THROWN i THINK
i also hurt, Too tod the man allegedly says something
about his mother as.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Well so even, yet and STILL.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Dk was a guy that obviously not having a good
day if he reacted that way to, that BECAUSE i
would think as long as he's playing in THE nfl
that some fans have said a lot of crazy stuff to.
Him so maybe that day was that day where he
decided enough is. Enough but, still, man you can't give
the people what they want Sometimes sometimes you gotta get

(30:19):
to people what they want and what they want From
dk metcalfss touchdowns and catches and him being a brute
on the. Field but, man you just can't do. That
can you imagine if this ends up costing him forty
five million in future, guarantees not to mention the lawsuit
that's gonna come from this, fan that fan suing him

(30:39):
for some.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
Ms, okay this ain't gonna be.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
No take twenty g's in a box OF i don't
know what they eat up there In. Detroit go TO
m And m's restaurant and get some moms. Spaghetti you
ain't giving them that in twenty g's and telling them
to have a nice. Day you're gonna have to pay
some millions for this Because i'm sure whatever lawyer he,
GETS i bet his mailbox was. FLOODED i bet his
phone has been flooded with calls from lawyers because they

(31:05):
know that the money is.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
Coming they can smell. It but FOR Dk, metcalf this
just isn't.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
Smart and this is part of what people said about
him when The panthers were talking about potentially. Trading this
is kind of what you get with, him not that
he will attack, fans but, that as the kids, say
he's a crashout. Man he's gonna crash out during the
game with some type of stupid. Penalty he's gonna complain
about not getting the. Ball and now we see. This
so did his actions prove that The panthers were right

(31:32):
and not trading for? Him you can answer this on
the fand text. Line, finally what say you?

Speaker 4 (31:36):
YEAH i, MEAN i guess it sort of proved. THAT i, mean,
look he's still a really great. Receiver you wonder if he,
was you, know under the tutelage of a guy Like
Dave canalis is a little bit, different just because we
Know dave a guy that is a positivity positivity, bully
as we have heard before about. Him SO i think you,

(32:00):
know ultimately The panthers would have taken him at wide.
Receiver it would have been a very successful. Trade BUT i,
mean it's just one of those moments FOR dk. Metcalf
it's just a tough, look, man you can't let the
fans get to you like. That and trust, ME i
know it's easier said than. DONE i can only imagine
if somebody was saying stuff to me WHAT i would

(32:20):
do in that, Moment BUT i, mean, yeah you.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
Did you just have to.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
Be a little more controlled because, now, yeah all the
future stuff is. There, dude you could be what cost
your team a chance to make the. Playoffs there's a
chance that The ravens could come back and still win this.
Division can you imagine if you not only lose all
of those future, assets but also you you end up
costing this team a playoff spot because you went into

(32:45):
the stands and had to put your hands on a.
Fan that's that's a tough moment for, him hopefully for
his sake THE pa The steelers do make the. PLAYOFFS
i hope they don't BECAUSE i think it'd be great
to Watch Aaron rodgers have to sit on the couch once.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
Again, yeah but, uh just just.

Speaker 4 (33:01):
Just a tough moment for him that hopefully he'll learn
from and bounce back.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
From, yeah that's a good point that you bring up as,
well the effect THAT i could have on a team
with his lack of presence out, there because he's not
going to be able to play for these two. Games,
Man but you, know you just got to be. SMALL
i know, Me, like, YEAH i would be mad, too
especially when you can sit the guys out there in
the heat to. Play But i'm just gonna use you,
Know i'm gonna talk. It i'm gonna say some very

(33:25):
very reckless things to. Him there's no fine for. That
i'm gonna say some things to try to make him
feel as small AS i can at the end of the.
Day so that's WHAT i am going to, do all.
Right so when we come, back we're gonna talk About Khan,
knimple the, man the, myth the legend that he is growing.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
Into is he the biggest boom that The hornets have ever?

Speaker 2 (33:45):
Drafted now you have boom and bus, prospects is he
the biggest? Boom On Sports radio ninety two seven W fnz.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
Cutting, Up.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
Welcome, back, folks this is The Western Walkers, Show Sports
radio ninety two seven W. Fnz the show is just flying.
By we're here in the channel Of Volta. STUDIOS Cv
injurylaw Dot. Com That cbinjurylaw Dot. Com one, call that's
All carolina's personal injury. Lawyers he Got wes And flounder
holding it down on the ones and twoes today bringing
you the sports talk to your holiday. WEEK i guess

(34:24):
you could, say, so you know, good we can ahead
for most of you, guys and we talked about teasing
before the. Break Kyn Ka nipple fastest two one hundred
three pointers and for those of you who just joined,
us will talk about. It The, hornets they did lose
to The Cleveland cavaliers last night On, peacock got a
little bit of a national. Spotlight but mister Kan nipple

(34:46):
became the fastest player IN nba history to reach one
hundred career three. Pointers he did so in only twenty nine.
Games he Beat Lori marketin's record of forty. One so
he beat it by twelve. Games and at this, rate
he will HAVE i made one hundred and forty seven
three pointers by the time he reaches forty one. Games
and so he entered Into monday averaging nineteen, points five,

(35:10):
rebounds four, assists and he's leading all rookies in. Scoring
and so when we look at The Charlotte, hornets and
even if you want to throw in The Charlotte, bobcats
you would say that a lot of the prospects that
The horners have had in the first round that, hit you,

(35:30):
know they were kind of expected. To because you want
to go, back BECAUSE i know some of you may, say, oh,
Well Larry johnson Or alonzo barn and us some of those.
Guys but you, know even The Baron davis' of the
world and stuff like, That like those guys felt like
coming out of college that they were really good, prospects
and when it came to THE, nba you weren't surprised
that they were really good. Players and so WHEN i

(35:52):
look At Conker, nipple which, yeah there were definitely a
contingent of fans who thought that he was going to
be a good player for this, Franchise but when you
looked at coming, out he had his. Flaws whether you
talked about, defensively you wonder what's he going to be
able to put the ball onto the floor with more
regularity once he got to the. League and with a
lot of, players we've seen a lot of great players

(36:13):
come into the, league great shooters in college and not
necessarily transition immediately they become great players or great, shooters
but they don't necessarily come in that way fresh out of.
COLLEGE i, mean when you look At Stephen, curry, now
he came in ready to go from the, Jump but
there are a lot of players who did come into

(36:34):
the league and they struggle to be able to find their.
Shot but Con knupple you cannot put him into that as.
Well so to, ME i do think that he's the
biggest boom that The, panthers or to excuse, me that
The hornets have. Had because people are, saying, oh, well
what is a boom? Prospect, well you know they call
pretty much every first round pick a boom or bus
guy OR i look at it if you really want

(36:56):
to narrow it, down players where there's obviously a high
likelihood of, failure but then there's also a high likelihood of.
Success AND i feel Like Conker nipple fell into that
where you felt, like all, right well they have to
go TO jj reddick rowd to where he has the
struggle to get on the, court struggles playing, defense struggles
with the speed of the, league ends up becoming a

(37:17):
good role player or you, know this is a guy
that we're talking about. Now we always reference it during
the summer that you, know you have pundits, saying, hey
this guy could end up being An olympian and you're, like,
okay like this might be a little.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
Strong and now.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
Here we sit today with this guy playing the way
that he's been playing And he's, like this guy looks
like a multi Time All. Star this guy looks like
a cat that. COULD i, MEAN i think it's real.
Now if he continues to play this, way we could
be talking about him as a Potential olympian when it
comes down to playing In Los angeles in twenty twenty.
Eight because if you ask me the way that he

(37:52):
plays a, game he Is taylor made for international.

Speaker 1 (37:56):
Basketball, okay but what do you?

Speaker 2 (37:58):
Think is he the biggest book that The hornets have
had to where he's just hit like a meteoi and
you're just, Like, wow this guy's an exemplary.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
PROSPECT i, mean he's got to be up there.

Speaker 4 (38:08):
RIGHT i would say that he's probably the best boom
prospect that they've, had especially because he was selected where
he was. Selected that's the other thing is that this
is a guy where if you did the redraft right,
now he would either be number one off the board
ahead of his Teammate Cooper flag or he could end

(38:29):
up being a guy you know that would go number two.
Overall so either, WAY i, mean that's that's a step
up for. HIM i, mean you could see he's already
gonna be a guy that's you, know starting to be
in the conversation of the elite. PLAYERS i don't know
if he ends up making The olympic, TEAM i have no,
idea BUT i think that he has done a great
job of giving this city some. Hope and that was

(38:51):
all that you were really hoping for when you drafted
him in the, draft was can you give me a
guy at four that ends up turning out to be some?
Thing because we keep getting screwed out of the out
of uh you, know draft positioning and potentially landing the
number one overall. Pick we never seem to get that.
Luck so now we need to hit on. Somebody and

(39:11):
finally you. DID i mean you could, SAY i guess
you could say That lamello was, also you, know sort
of a, boom but not like, this not where you
look at this guy and you, say this seems like
something that is long term. Sustainable now we're gonna have
to see ultimately what you, know what the rest of
his career looks. Like lamello's has been derailed by, injuries

(39:32):
but it feels like you you have found.

Speaker 1 (39:34):
One here in. Continent, well that's for.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
Sure, unfortunately the two biggest boom prospects for The. Hornets
they only wore the hat for them On draft, Day
Kobe bryant And Shake gill Just, alexander there you. Go,
yeah that you would look at it and be, like,
man those were major, booms but they just wore the
hat for a couple of. Hours SO i think a
QUESTION i would love to pose to you guys out

(39:57):
there on the fan do a text, line is has
he he lessened the sting of not Getting Cooper Flagg
because we were very disappointed around here we weren't able
to Get Cooper. Flag we felt like that maybe the
draft guards may descend upon us just once after missing
out on The shacks and The Dwight howards and some

(40:17):
of these. Guys and so For Kanka, nippa NOW i
think he has very much lessen this sting of not
Getting Cooper.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
Flag NOW i think.

Speaker 2 (40:25):
That, yes The hornets ended up at, fourth but we
did feel coming into that that we tried to wish
as much as we could For Cooper flagg to be
able to join The Charlotte, hornets and we thought it
was a real. Possibility but NOW i think the, fans
after they've gotten what they've gotten from, CON i don't
think the fans are really thinking About Cooper flag as much.

Speaker 4 (40:45):
Anymore, NO i don't think so, either BECAUSE i mean
you could debate between the two who is actually the
better rookie right. NOW i don't know if we thought
that was going to be. Possible there might have been
some people that thought Maybe con could reach that. Level
but we thought That cooper was going to be a
star star in this.

Speaker 1 (41:03):
League and, yeah and he's starting to turn into. One
But con is right there with.

Speaker 4 (41:07):
HIM i mean, especially you, know we've seen What heat
has done in games where he has to basically take.
Over he's been able to do. It AND i think
the thing that we should have known about, him and
the reason why we should have known that this was
possible was you go back to THE Acc tournament last. Year,
yeah he was the guy Because Cooper flag was banged,

(41:29):
up and you saw how he. Performed he was really
the best player on that floor for three. Days and
SO i expect that he is going to be a
guy that continues to play at an incredibly high rate every.
TIME i, mean, yeah you're you're gonna have certain nights
where you have down down. Knights that's the, thing especially
when you play eighty two, Games but there's such a

(41:51):
level of consistency to him THAT i think is refreshing
For hornets fans because there are some guys that just
don't bring you that sort of, consistency Like Miles, bridges
who at times is up and, down not giving you
that consistent level of.

Speaker 1 (42:04):
Scoring That's doc Con AND i.

Speaker 4 (42:06):
Don't know if we thought that was gonna be him
when he first came into the. League we thought it
might take him a little bit of time to become.

Speaker 1 (42:11):
Consistent, yeah AND.

Speaker 2 (42:12):
I think too the biggest thing you look at between these,
two if you want to, say you, know what's the
difference or whatever the case may, be is it still
you do have to consider The cooper.

Speaker 1 (42:21):
Flag it's just a. Baby he's. Eighteen so they were.

Speaker 2 (42:24):
Saying how now you're gonna have to shift the narrative
to talking about comparisons to nineteen year olds at this
point because he turns nineteen This. Sunday but he had
a forty two point game Against utah and just his
twenty SIX nba, appearances there were a ton of legends
who took longer to get to their first forty plus,
Night but you talk about the only players who got

(42:45):
there Before Cooper flag Was Oscar, Robinson Michael, Jordan kareem Abdu,
jabbar And Wilt. Chamberlain so those were the only players
that got to a forty point night faster Than Cooper flag.
Did and it is crazy to, think LIKE i, said
him at eighteen years old just DOMINATED nba players like he.
Is so that has been great as. Well but AS i,
SAID i do think that con has very much less than.

(43:07):
THAT i think That hornets fans don't really think About Cooper.
FLAX i don't even think About Cooper. Flac wimby is
the only one THAT i will never ever forget, About,
OKAY i love, That AND i don't think that there's
a rookie from this class that people would trade him, for,
Obviously AND i think even if you look at the
upcoming class and you, said, okay The hornets don't draft
K nipple and they're really bad again and they have

(43:29):
a chance to get one of these guys that will
be at the top of this, CLASS i don't think
there's a cap that you look at in college right
now where you're, like, Yo i'd rather have him Than, kankkinniple.

Speaker 4 (43:36):
BECAUSE i think that's what's crazy about this draft IS
i don't think they have the superstar that you god
In cooper or that you seem to have in Con
BUT i think there are more high level players than
in this previous. Draft LIKE i think you've got guys
Like Cameron boozer is not going to be as good
as either of these two, Guys cooper or Kan Ka,

(43:58):
nipple but he's going to be a really good. Player
there's a lot of really good players that are going
to be in this. Draft so that's the thing is
that in this, draft you, know this is one, where,
okay you'd like to win the number one overall pick
if you're down that, low of, course you'd like to
get that lottery. Luck but if you, don't you're still
gonna get a really really solid, player one that may

(44:19):
end up being better Than Cameron, boozer and we probably
wouldn't be shocked if he. Is that's that's how deep
this draft class is going to. Be So i'm intrigued
to see what that looks. Like BUT i think you're.
RIGHT i don't know if you trade one of these.
GUYS i, mean you, KNOW i LOVE i love my
Guy Caleb. WILSON i don't know if you're necessarily Trading
con for. HIM i think you probably would hold on

(44:41):
To con and see where this.

Speaker 1 (44:42):
Goes all, right.

Speaker 2 (44:43):
When we start the two o'clock, hour we're gonna talk college, basketball,
man because we've got a lot of that going. On
My deek's got absolutely smothered this past, weekend The Blue
devils loss as. Well carolina stays on the winning, Track
so we're going to talk about all of it on
the other side Of Sports radio ninety two seven W.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
