Speaker 1 (00:00):

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Walker show.
Speaker 3 (00:02):
You just to spend the nights out in the barroom.
It's Wes lick up was the only love I know.
But oh I went way ahead to stay on track. Yeah,
it's okay and Walker bring it home.
Speaker 4 (00:19):
Come on, here we go, but you rescue me reaching
for the bottom walm is it glass?
Speaker 5 (00:30):
Brass a Brandy.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
Put it down Only on Sports Radio ninety two point
seven FM WFNC.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
It's a no for me dog.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
We got one more hour to go people.
Speaker 6 (00:51):
It's Wes and Walker Sports Radio ninety two to seven
wfn Z. The twenty third Annual Street Turkeys presented by
Ram Pavement. We're at the doghouse. We're powered by Jack Daniels.
Not really literally, just the whole doghouse. Yeah, will be
gone off the rails by now. Kinda Kinda is already
broadcasting live from six am to six pm.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
We're brought to you by tr Ling and One Cloud.
Speaker 6 (01:14):
We work in partnership with the Second Harvest, Food Bank
of Metrolina and Norris Shop to provide meals to families
over the holidays and beyond text in guys, really we
need all the help that we can get Street Turkeys
five oh one five five. Text in Street Turkeys all
one word to five oh one five five, and then
a link will pop up. Then you're gonna be able
to pay whatever you can. Once that link pops up,
(01:35):
It'll be very easy to follow the instructions. Just again,
text in Street Turkeys to five oh one five five.
Right now, I got a late update for us. The
latest one is that we are at seventeen thousand. I
don't mind it, I'd like more. So perhaps what I
would like to do if we can, can we go
hard for this last hour and get twenty thousand? Can
we pass off twenty thousand to Kyle Bailey? You guys
(01:55):
can do the math. Every time I try on air,
I'm often wrong, so I'm not gonna attempt to do it.
I know this is what I can do. I know
we need to raise three thousand more, all right. I'm
not going to tell you how many people need to
donate how much to reach that three thousand level, But
can we get to three thousand because these people really
appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
We really appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (02:13):
And Walker Man will match anything you guys donate, because
he's gonna match the seventeen K.
Speaker 6 (02:17):
I will up to five dollars. Up to five dollars,
I will match up. No, I will absolutely be donating
as well, and we need to do it in the
window as well, so we have the full friendly competition thing.
Yeah wa, it wasn't walker. We want to do our
part around here. But yes, absolutely we're donating here. If
you can donate, that would be great. And I know
sometimes it's an inconvenience when you're driving by and then
(02:38):
you see all of the friendly people with the buckets
and they're waving to you, and then they're holding up
the signs telling you what to text in order to donate.
If you have cash in the car, man, don't spend
that on fast food. Don't do that. Just go ahead
and say here's the money. You guys need it. We're
gonna help you out. If you pull over to the
side of the road, you don't need to find parking.
Speaker 5 (02:58):
Not throw on breaks suddenly, okay, don't cause any types
of recks out here anything like that, and don't text
and drive as well. Be safe.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Yeah, we make it easy for you.
Speaker 6 (03:07):
We got a bunch of people collecting all sorts of
monetary donations and canned foods and canned goods. If that's
what you need to donate as well, stop buying. We
make it easy on you. If you just want to
pull over to the side of the road, we'll take
it out the window and then you can get on
your merry way. We are making sure that it's all
safe around here as well. I'll tell you one more time,
text Street Turkeys to five oh one, five to five
(03:29):
for a chance to donate. All right, let's do the
fun stuff here for the last hour, because there's a
lot of text messages I want coming in on the
fandual text line. There are many people that say they
feel you on the family being physical.
Speaker 5 (03:41):
That's right, That's all I was trying to say.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
And I knew they would say that it was fizzled.
Maybe not the immediate family.
Speaker 6 (03:48):
I just hope that you don't have cousins out there
listening to West and Walker. Do you have anybody that
might feel some type of way? Have you gotten any
text messages when you said fancy?
Speaker 5 (03:56):
But see, that's the thing though, if you know, you know,
if you know it would lock then together, then you
know it's not about you. Like they said, hit dogs holler,
So I know if my cousin knows that we're locked in,
then he don't have to worry about me talking about him,
And more than likely there's gonna be some synergy where
he's going to know exactly who I'm talking about When
I say as family, He's like, oh yeah, man, when
(04:17):
uncle lookle Mike comes through, man, everything goes the hell
in the handbasket.
Speaker 6 (04:22):
Bryce, you can just nod, do you know what family
members he's talking about?
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Like me?
Speaker 5 (04:26):
Or we don't have any because it's always only just
met him and my mom.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
So well that thanks him. It for you. You don't
have to worry about that.
Speaker 6 (04:33):
You're putting yourself in the shoes of somebody that might
have all the extended family.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
Over and yourself. And I've been a part of those
and I know at the place of where family is
at this point and what it could be like if
we all got together.
Speaker 6 (04:46):
I have a Thanksgiving question for everyone. I don't think
we've asked this before. Has there ever been a time
where somebody in your family tried a little something different
to put on the.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Table and it just w.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
Go ahead.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
It's a safe space.
Speaker 6 (05:02):
They're not gonna be listening to the show I want
to know a time where somebody tried something different. They
put a different ingredient in, they gave you a new
menu item and it just wasn't good. And you either
tried to be polite or maybe you told them straight
up and you said, look, this isn't it. Let's not
do this ever again. Let's get back on schedule next year.
Fandual text line seven oh four five, seven oh ninety
(05:23):
six to ten. I'll provide the first menu item. You know,
my mom an excellent cook, like I think the best
cook I know, Olivia is also very good. I don't
want to get into that space and get in trouble,
so I'm going to move from that quite a bit.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
But she is crazy, crazy.
Speaker 6 (05:37):
Good at cooking. It has been for a long time.
There is one time where she got a little experimental
with the mac and cheese and she saw a recipe
for crab mac and cheese. Seafood and cheese don't makes
for a reason. It wasn't it, man, and she knew it.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
She didn't try.
Speaker 5 (05:54):
That's the thing, because you were tell me how you
liked the oyster dishes, and you said that you're now
for that longbster mac and teese. I would feel like
it would be something you would enjoy it.
Speaker 6 (06:02):
Well, seafood and cheese don't go to don't go together
because there are a lot of people.
Speaker 5 (06:06):
I hear it in wraps and people talk about it
about lobster mac and teese, and I see it on
a lot of menus.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Yeah, and the crab mac and cheese.
Speaker 6 (06:13):
We didn't have the lobster mac and cheese, and so
maybe that's different, you know, I know it's all shellfish.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
There is a different taste. But it just didn't really work.
Speaker 6 (06:20):
And then there was another time we put in some
onions into it and sometimes like I just can.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Be good just a little bit.
Speaker 6 (06:26):
Yeah, yeah, you know, it wasn't great. So those are
the two we have. Lamar from South Park said somebody
once made fruitcake straight flop. I feel like fruitcake those
only belong in like old Christmas carols. Nobody actually eats it.
That's the only time I ever hear about figgy pudding.
Has anybody ever had figgie pudding too? Now I can't amounter. Yeah, yeah,
(06:49):
we got a big silence on that. Mister Reality in
Moresville said somebody made spinach keiche one time. Yeah, I'm
good on the spinach cache. Is there anything that comes
to mind?
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Nobody. Nobody got a little froggy with whatever.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
No, like with John the beer Man, he says on
their bread and butter pickles in the potato salad. I
don't know about that, because see immediately when you said
the macintee's like, there's some fools that you know, you
might want to experiment just a little bit, but for
the most part, there are some classics. Did you just
need to just keep it simple, just keep it up,
(07:25):
you know, keep the traditions going.
Speaker 6 (07:27):
Who's your Bobby? Shout out to who's your Bobby? Helping
us out? By the way, awesome stuff here from who's
your Bobby? Can't wait to say, what's up to him?
After our show today? He's coming by in volunteering. But
he said, Walker, my mother in law brought jello with
fruit inside one time, I said, don't ever bring that
cup back. And I'm sure you said it just like that,
you know. And last one rip to Grandma. I'm sorry, Grandma.
(07:50):
I gotta tell them, okay, one time I can't tell
you that she was the greatest cook in the world.
She made the best bowl of chili I ever had
that still stands today. But she would also make coccoli salad,
and she put like dried up cranberries in the broccoli
salad one year and it was basically raisins and potato salad,
and like, I was like, can we not be so white, Grandma, please,
(08:12):
we can't do this.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
Seven or four number says gluten free stuffing. He said,
it was as terrible as you can imagine. Yeah, stuffing
is not something I would imagine I would want of
the gluten free varioty. I can't really say, because most
of the time, you know, like if we went to
my grandma's or something like that, she would always ask
what I wanted, or you know, even like with my
mom when she cooks stuff, she'll ask what I want.
So I really don't. I can't recall any items. She
(08:36):
did get a little prickly with me the other day
because I saw that she had bought the the mac
and cheese shells and they were, you know, the smaller variety.
It was like elbow macaroni and like, all no, but
I typically like the fat shells. So I said something
about that, and I just said it kind of passing it,
you know, how women can get Sometimes when you ask
the smallest questions, they dig a little bit deeper. I said, oh,
(08:58):
you got the smallest shells, and then she was like,
I can go back and get some more. And I
was like, nah, nah, it's cool. But yeah, but I
haven't really I'm trying to think of anything that somebody did. Oh,
somebody said hold on now seven or four number says
pork and bean cake.
Speaker 6 (09:15):
That sounds who decided that has a good idea? I
do not know who decided that was a good idea,
but they can't be invited back seven ozh four What
what's funny is this person? You know, this person meant
it because it's the only text message in our exchange,
like we have a whole bunch of different channels, just
like it is with your eye message app. But also
when somebody, somebody was dying to let us know that
(09:37):
they had to have pork and bean cake one time,
that sounds awful.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
That's what I have you in the clouds at drinking
that bourbon.
Speaker 6 (09:45):
Lamar from South Park Rights and again my grandma once
made some kind of sunflower seed salad, but used.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
The shells instead of the seeds.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
No Graham wall.
Speaker 6 (09:54):
Now, we can't do that. How did you got to
put in work to make that meal?
Speaker 5 (09:57):
I mean it's pork and bean's cake. It doesn't look bad,
but it's yeah.
Speaker 6 (10:02):
I just I don't know, man, Hollywood from Charlotte, says
my ex from Michigan. They like sugar in their food.
We hosted a cookout and she made the mac and
cheese with sugar. My very southern family did not appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
Does it need to be sweet?
Speaker 5 (10:17):
Well? I think that sometimes, man, when you have the
person that either puts ketchup or condiments on everything, and
if they're putting sugar in everything, that means I truly
do mean that. I think that comes from a household
is not very good at cooking, so you have to
put sugar? Why you ketchup or something on everything? That
means somebody couldn't.
Speaker 6 (10:37):
I need people to understand what just happened. Wes was
so concerned with this person that he actually almost He
got very close to my face with a concerned look like.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
It wasn't we weren't joking anymore. This was not a bit.
Speaker 6 (10:48):
This was Wes being concerned about whoever was serving sugar
in the mac. You put sugar in everything. Somebody can't cook, man, Yeah,
they really can't, all right? Can Bryce Young? Can he
cook against the Rams? Seven oh four or five seven
ninety six? Let's get a little Panthers talk in here.
Queen City magic is that it played against the Rams.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
Squee Man, it could be. With the way that this
season has gone, I wouldn't completely rule it out. And
even when we look at our fan base this year,
you look and you see from westn Walker fans that
anytime they felt like gloom and doom in a matchup,
it's turned out to be pretty good. And when they
felt like that the Panthers had a chance to really
(11:24):
do something, it's turned out on the worst side. Because
like remember, going into the Green Bay game, a lot
of Panthers fans didn't feel like they had a chance
they won that game. Going up against the Bills, they
thought that maybe the Panthers had a shot. The Bills
looked vulnerable, they had lost two games coming into it.
They felt like that the Panthers could sneak them, and
then they got smoked. So perhaps this is one of
(11:44):
those games where Panthers fans, especially coming off a loss,
feel like that their team doesn't have much of a shot,
and so this will be a game that they will
rise up and get a victory.
Speaker 6 (11:53):
The Rams are pretty universally accepted after that game against
the Buccaneers. Is the best team in the NFL now
the classic press clippings. I don't know if that happens
with the Rams. I mean, I guess you never expected
to happen with some of the best teams in the league.
It is going to be cross country, it is going
to be a very different time slot. It is going
to be at Bank of America Stadium, so the home crowd,
(12:15):
and I do think what will be interesting is that
it's not like the Rams have a monster fan base
out there. The Panthers aren't playing the Steelers at home.
They're not playing the Bills at home, the Cowboys at home.
I will say, with the Rams being so good, people
might just want to come support the Rams because they
love Puka Nakua, they love Matthew Stafford. They want to
go see an MVP candidate amidst his campaign. I wonder
(12:40):
if they just want to see the game. Might not
have a ton of support for the Panthers. They might
wear their Panthers shirt, but they might not get up
on their feet because they they're here because they want
to see Stafford. They want to hear like you know
those fans that are who's on the away schedule? Oh yeah,
I'd like to check out Sean McVay and those guys.
So we'll see about the loudness at Bank of America
and especially coming off.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Of the loss.
Speaker 6 (13:02):
Are people a little bit more down after the loss
to San fran and they're not nearly as cheerful at
Bank of America State.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
I think this is the time that you have to
show up the most. And this is the thing that
kind of define fan base is that Panthers games need
to show up. Panthers fans need to show up and
droves and support this team in a game like this.
I mean, you're sitting at five hundred, it's not like
you only have three wins. You should show up and
be loud and make it hard on a Ram.
Speaker 6 (13:26):
The only thing that makes this hard is the Rams
would be a big favorite without all of the injuries
and that secondary against this group. So JC Horn might
not play with the concussion. Now you might have Trayvon
Merrick isn't going to play your starting safety isn't going
to play. You don't have that coverage based safety waiting
in the wings like it's Laith and Ransom. That's kind
(13:47):
of your married replacement, the guy that's a lot better
at the line of scrimmage. He made a great tackle
the other day. My man's just a run stuffer like
that's what he does. And I do love the hard
hitting safety like that. But coverage is still where Leathan
Ransom struggles a little bit. So Man Davante Adams, Pook
and Aakua Matthew Stafford. In terms of just the esthetically
(14:08):
pleasing viewing experience of watching a quarterback play football, Stafford's
at an all time high right now. The arm angles
of the zip that he still has on the ball.
I don't know how many more entertaining stretches of games
that we've seen than what Stafford is putting on them.
Speaker 5 (14:22):
Yeah, and he feels like a guy that's getting his
flowers late because he toiled for so many years in
Detroit that now that people are really, you know, kind
of recognizing his greatness and really appreciating what he's bringing
to the table. But just like how you said there
and described all of those things that lends itself to
a Queen City Magic moment where you sit there and
you said, man, they came into this game and they're
going up against Davonte and Pooka and all of these
(14:45):
guys and blocking Jared Verse and all that, and they
come out and get a win. But no, you know, also,
you know Wes Brones got a little bit of vested
interest in and we need you to help the Niners
after we beat you, we might need a little help
frame he So go ahead and take down the Rams
for your boy. But other than that, no, I think
that this Rams team, they are playing great football right now.
They seem to be a team on a mission. They
(15:05):
seem to have so many components that you would need
to win a championship. So this is going to be
a big test for the Panthers for sure.
Speaker 6 (15:12):
The WFNZ twenty third Annual Street Turkeys presented by Ram Pavement,
brought to you by tr Lying and One Cloud, working
in partnership with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina
and Noris Shupp. We're providing meals to families over the
holidays and beyond. Text Street Turkeys to five oh one,
five to five. If you have kids in the car,
use this as an opportunity to give them a shout.
(15:34):
Screenshot a text of your donation. Put your kid's name
on the list. We'll give them a shout. In fact,
we can have some fun with this. If you want
to shout out for you or your kids, let us
know where they went to school.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
We don't know no last names.
Speaker 6 (15:44):
We're not trying to get too crazy out here, all right,
Just a first name and then a school shout out
or whatever. Turn up the volume. Let the kids enjoy
Wes and Walker. Give them a nice shout. If you
text in a donation and then you screenshot it and
then text in the FanDuel text line seven oh four
to five seven oh ninety six. But the way to
donate is by texting Street Turkeys all one word Street
Turkeys to five oh one, five to five. That's Street
(16:07):
Turkeys to five oh one, five to five, A couple
more segments to go here on Wesson Walker, come over
to our block at the corner of mitton more Head.
(16:27):
It is the twenty third annual Street Turkeys presented by
Ram Pavement. We're at the doghouse. We're powered by Jack Daniels.
We're broadcasting live. We've been doing so from six am.
We'll be going up until six pm. I saw Kyle,
he just walked in.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
He's here. He's at the Jack Daniels doghouse.
Speaker 6 (16:42):
He'll be taken over from three to six and I
want to hand him on twenty thousand dollars figuratively speaking,
that's what I want to do, and then I want
him to take it the rest of the way and
try to beat a record from UH and get closer
and closer to that record. I don't know what it is.
We'll get an update on that, but right now, I
just want to get to twenty thousand. We're at seventeen.
(17:03):
So if you can contribute as much as you possibly can,
the goal is to get to twenty k before we
hand it off to Kyle, and I think we can
do it. All you have to do is text Street
Turkeys to five oh one, five to five, all one word.
No spaces or link does not pop up for you. You
need to make sure that you do not have a
space there. Text Street Turkeys all one word to five
oh one, five to five. A dollar helps, two dollars
(17:24):
helps as much as you can donate as you feel
comfortable with and don't forget you can stop by the
corner of Mint and Morehead as well, and you can
actually give us some canned food, some box goods along
with some of those monetary donations, and we make it
real easy for you, man like you can't miss it.
We're at the intersection here at the corner of Mint
and Morehead. We got a whole bunch of volunteers. We
really appreciate everybody for helping us out with the twenty
(17:46):
third annual Street Turkeys event presented by a Ram Pavement,
And just another special thank you to some of those
people helping us out. One Cloud proud supporters and sponsors
of Street Turkeys. They made a donation at ten thirty
tr Long just heard us talk with Joe Remsen a.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Little while ago.
Speaker 6 (18:02):
They made a food donation at one o'clock. They're proud
supporters and sponsors of Street Turkeys, I think for four
years now, if not four then three, and of course
ram Pavement they've been volunteers on site throughout the entire day.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
All right.
Speaker 6 (18:15):
Flounder's also been helping us out. He's been giving us
some I will say bad but some entertaining guest takes
when we did our Thanksgiving guest draft.
Speaker 7 (18:24):
Guess what one of the guests is in the live
wire too? So is that right?
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Is it?
Speaker 5 (18:31):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (18:31):
Is it Dante Calabria?
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Dante k All? Well?
Speaker 7 (18:35):
First of all, you do you think that's an insult?
Calabria would bring bringing a full course meal with him
because we would be having pasta, because he's Italian, So
that's true.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
All right.
Speaker 6 (18:45):
This is the other question I have for the FanDuel
text line. I went wrong answers? Only who else is
Flounder inviting to his Thanksgiving Day dinner? Seven oh four five,
seven ninety six ten?
Speaker 5 (18:54):
I like it?
Speaker 6 (18:54):
I want I want the wrong answers. I want all
of them from sergees Wicker. I want ed geth. I
went all the wrong answers as much as possible, and
we'll read some of the best ones after the live wire.
But we got to send it back to the Chandler
Vault studios where Flounders helping us out hit a flound
a time.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Now for some sound of flound the heaves at the
west the west.
Speaker 7 (19:19):
Live wise, all right, and we start with Dave Canalis,
the head coach of the Carolina Panthers.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
He was speaking yesterday after practice.
Speaker 7 (19:28):
It was a late practice, so he was speaking around
like four o'clock and he was asked about the injuries
for the Panthers at linebacker, corner and guard against LA.
Speaker 8 (19:41):
Yeah, so you know, we're counting our guys to step up.
These are big opportunities for a bunch of players to
help our team this weekend. You know, we'll hopefully get
Trevin back, Trevin Wallace back on the inside this week.
But Chris Barnes played really well in the game and
Bam Martin Scott got in at the end and really flashed,
flashed some speed, some lengths, some things that we've and
seeing and he's just been really conscientious in preparing and
(20:03):
being ready to play. And Pete Hanson's done a great
job you know with Bam, just making sure that he's
ready for that moment. So there's guys that can help us,
you know. And Jay Kurhan has come in before on
the offensive line side to help us and he finished
the game for us, so really counting on him to
do that again. A good chance to see some more
guys out there. And then of course at the corner spot,
you know, we got to see where Jac's at he's
in the concussion protocol right now. But a Caleb Evans
(20:25):
played outside Shaw Smith Wade made some nice plays at
corner as well. So some of the guys that have
been developing while we've been here, you know we're going
to count.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
On this week, all right.
Speaker 7 (20:33):
So out of all those position groups, which position group
are you guys the most worried about going into this
game against the Rams due to all the injuries, No question.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
That would be the secondary because you're going up against
a very, very formidable receiving unit. You guys, hear me
talk about it all the time. You can either have
a receiving unit that is star studded or you can
have one that is very well fitting to your system
and what you run. And this is a star studded
receiving corps that you have coming in. Whether you talk
about Davonte Adams and Puka Nakua probably the best duo
(21:05):
in the league at this point. They've also got tight
ends that if you sleep on them, they will hurt
you as well. So the Rams, they offer a lot
of different receiving options, So I would be worried about
that second deal.
Speaker 6 (21:16):
At their run game is underrated. I mean, Kyron Williams
is just real efficient. I don't think he's ever gonna
have a two hundred yard day. I don't know how
much he'll ever have a one hundred and fifty yard
day on the ground, but he's almost you can somebody
you can set your watch to pick it up at
least seventy yards. And even Blake Krum, he's starting to
get in the mix and being a vital part of
what they do. Joe Person just tweeted out nine minutes
(21:38):
ago that JC Horn and Claude and chaerir List, both
in the concussion protocol, were not at walkthrough. Christian Roseboom
also wasn't out there with that hip slash hamstring injury.
Joe did see Trevin Wallace, who has missed the last
couple of games with a shoulder injury. That's not a
small thing. If you can have Trevin Wallace out there,
that will help you. But still even with Frivan Wallace,
(22:00):
it doesn't help you. With what your answer was, Wes,
and I'm agreeing with you. It's the defensive backs, it's
the safeties, it's the corners, it's the secondary overall that
you're worried about against this group of pass catchers because
I don't know if there's a better wide receiver duo
in the league outside of Poka Nakua and DeVante Adams.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
And they hurt you in multiple ways.
Speaker 6 (22:18):
It's Puka from the twenty to the twenty, and then
it's DeVante in the red area.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
That's just seemingly how it's gone.
Speaker 5 (22:24):
Yeah, and I don't see how, you know, especially with
them playing that Monday Night game.
Speaker 8 (22:28):
J C.
Speaker 5 (22:28):
Horn, what the symptoms they said he had. I feel
like it's pretty you know, pretty slim chance he plays
in this one.
Speaker 6 (22:35):
Yeah, those were scarier. I mean, it puts in a
perspective just how scary concussions can be.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
JC.
Speaker 6 (22:41):
I guess didn't exhibit any symptoms, and then he went
back out there, and then you go back into the
locker room at halftime, and then apparently he starts throwing up,
and the training staff is oho, yeah, that's a symptom.
Probably should set him out. I can't imagine that he plays,
especially after what he experienced. So that's certainly a concern.
What else you got, Floud?
Speaker 2 (23:01):
All right, we move on to Bryce Young.
Speaker 7 (23:03):
Let's go back to Monday Night because he was asked
about what tonight's loss means after you had a chance
to take the division lead.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
Here's what he had to say.
Speaker 9 (23:12):
That it's a loss. That's all it is. Again, playing
right back's gonna suck. I don't even know if we
have the twenty four hour luxury now when it's you know,
we're all competitors. It sucks to have this outcome. And
then after that it doesn't matter. You know, next week
we're gonna be o O. We have to earn the
right to try to be one to know next week
it's gonna you know, go into practice, going to the week.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
So there's no uh.
Speaker 9 (23:35):
Again, we don't have luxuries to think about big picture.
You think that that's that's you know, not a good
recipe for this league. Everyone demands our most intention so attention.
So we'll fill the page and go to next week.
Speaker 5 (23:46):
All right.
Speaker 7 (23:47):
So for you guys, what did the loss the other
night mean for the Panthers chances to win this division?
Do you think that it ended their chances or do
you think that they're still alive after even with the
schedule that they have remaining.
Speaker 5 (23:59):
No, I don't think it ended at all because I
think in the NFL, we see a lot of times,
especially in divisions that are mediocre, because that's what the
NFC South has become. When you talk about the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers, who had a chance to really put a
choke holt on this division, but injuries have really affected that.
This is the team. They also have a challenging schedule
coming up, so they're not done losing, And so for
(24:20):
the Panthers, the door is still very much open for
them to be able to get this division. So not
at all. I think that the Panthers are kind of
right there, and this was a game that when you
looked at it in the vacuum, you really didn't expect
them to win like that. Anyway, I'm not saying that
just because the forty nine ers are my team, but
I'm just saying that when they play against some of
the more formidable playoff opponents, that most of the fan
(24:43):
base tends to trend towards thinking that they will lose.
And so, yeah, man, you look at Tampa Bay once
again and what's left of their schedule. Now They've got
the Cardinals, which is a game they could win, but
Baker Mayfield probably doesn't play. But then they got the Saints,
the Falcons a couple of dates with the Panthers in
the door, so my bad. They're this schedule is manageable,
but when you talk about not having a starting quarterback
(25:04):
and missing as many pieces as they are, it is
quite challenging.
Speaker 6 (25:08):
If you don't think the Panthers can make the postseason
anymore after the game they played against San Francisco. It's
not necessarily because they don't have any other opportunities. It's
not because the schedule says they're not going to win.
It's because you don't believe the Panthers will consistently play
good enough football. Your disbelief in the Panthers is because
they didn't show up for primetime when it's time to
show up in the postseason. That's primetime football. You might
(25:30):
not have the bright lights, it might not be an
eight to fifteen kick, but that's primetime football. There are
big time stakes on the line, so that might be
the reason that you give up on them. It's not
because you don't have a situation where you control your.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Own destiny anymore. You do.
Speaker 6 (25:45):
You got two more games against Tampa in a week
NDFC South. We thought we might have some more respect
for him at the beginning of the year, not so
much as Tampa has battled some injuries in Atlanta continue
to be fraudulent. So here you are with Carolina still
having a shot. Teddy Bridge got majority of the first
team reps this week according to Todd Bowles. That came
in just about an hour ago. So it looks like
(26:06):
Teddy Bridgewater is going to play against the Cardinals. I'll
tell you right now, I think Cardinals win that game, Okay.
I think Jacoby Brissett can do enough to give the
Buccaneers another l and then Baker Mayfield might come back
after that. So it's not like there's gonna be another
sequence of games to provide a bigger gap between Tampa
and Carolina. No, the chances aren't completely over because of
(26:27):
those two games that they have against Tampa. They just
got to play better than what they did offensively. Did
you know real quick.
Speaker 5 (26:32):
Before we go to the next topic, that the NFC
South is the only division where all of the teams
have negative point differentially.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
I'm not surprised. I'm not surprised whatsoever.
Speaker 6 (26:42):
We thought that we might get out of those days
of the NFC South a big old psych to you.
So yes, if you thought that, back to you, floundy
what you got?
Speaker 7 (26:50):
All right, we move on to a guest that was
at my Thanksgiving. That would be Brent Renner who was
on the podcast at Brian Murphy host for WRAL, talking
on game week against NC State and he says that
he will not be on the call for the game
against NC State because he will never be on the
call for NC State.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
He never even goes to Raleigh.
Speaker 10 (27:10):
Brian, I will never go to Raleigh ever, unless I'm
going to RDU and taking a flight away from Raleigh.
And that's that's so the guys teach me, They're like,
you know you're gonna go to Raleigh or you know, Kenny,
can you do the Raleigh game. I'm like, Nope, you
better get somebody else. So that's a bad decision for
me personally. I don't want to end up end up
in jail. So I wish Carolina are the best. I
(27:31):
will never go to a game of State ever.
Speaker 7 (27:34):
All right, So Wes is a man that loves the
petty rivalries. Do you do you like this quote from
Brent Renner on this game?
Speaker 5 (27:42):
Yeah? I mean, you know when you talk about true,
good old fashioned hate, which is what the Georgia Georgia
Tech Rivalry is named. But when you talk about it, man,
I mean sometimes it just knows no bounds. And when
you have true hate for a team, organization, school, it
runs deep. You know, not that I would ever allow
it to get in the way of me get into
a bag. But you know, if Carolina came in offered
(28:03):
me a job, it would require a lot of thought
because I don't know if that's something that I could do. Man,
So once your arrival, you're always arrival.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
I was good.
Speaker 6 (28:13):
I was wondering if you respected this move or not
because you got some hate for Carolina. Yes, but you
were at Chapel Hill for a wake Forest North Carolina game,
if you had control over it. Because the way that
Brin talked about it, they asked him, are you able
to do it? And he said, if I have a choice,
I will say no. And maybe if he didn't have
a choice, if it was either you save your job
(28:34):
by going, or if you don't go, you don't have
a job. The way that he was talking, I might
just believe him that he decides to take a step
away play back up in the league for a while,
so he might have some Brian, if you had a
choice over it, would you go even still? Or if
it was like, hey, man, if you don't want to go,
that's fine, I know you hate him. You can go
to this game instead. Yeah, I figured, Yeah, I'm still
I kind of respect it because if I'm going to
(28:58):
lean all the way into this is what made me
college athletics so great, and then you have the broadcasters
even get involved in it during hate week, then I'm
not gonna speak out of both sides of my mouth
and call it unprofessional. Rivalries are unprofessional. You throw logic
out the window with a lot of this stuff. Do
I think that does? Does Flounder think that North Carolina
truly is gonna beat n C State? You know, I'm
(29:19):
not gonna speak entirely for him, but I can't imagine
that he really thinks North Carolina's gonna beat NC State?
But he still said heels big and I respect that,
So I respect Brent Renner's move.
Speaker 1 (29:29):
What else you got out there? Fly?
Speaker 5 (29:30):
I was gonna ask you real quick, though, Flounder, if
m C State came and offered you one hundred k
to be a blogger for their football basketball programs. Would
you accept?
Speaker 1 (29:42):
No, I'm good.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
I'll keep living with my parents.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
I really I believe it.
Speaker 6 (29:46):
The thing is, don't you be out there riding in
the text line saying that you don't believe it?
Speaker 1 (29:50):
What's that I do? I believe he's real?
Speaker 7 (29:52):
All right, Look, I can make my way through the
radio realm. I think I'll be perfectly fine. Don't I
don't need that offer from NC State. All right, guys,
we move on to Reggie Miller. Oh my gosh. Well,
you know what, though, I respect him on this one
because he is saying some good things about Con. He
says that he believes Con is winning the Rookie of
(30:13):
the Year and might threaten Steph's three point record.
Speaker 5 (30:16):
He's winning Rookie of the year. Dare I say this?
Speaker 1 (30:21):
Uh? Oh?
Speaker 5 (30:22):
Dare I say? Oh?
Speaker 11 (30:25):
Is he is Stephen Curry going to be a little nervous?
WHOA in about fifteen years?
Speaker 1 (30:34):
Oh? With the three point totals?
Speaker 5 (30:36):
Yes?
Speaker 11 (30:38):
Think Just go back and look at Steph's first two
or three years in terms of owners made and what
kN has done this year. Just look at their first years.
I'm just saying, if he stays, But here's the problem.
You gotta stay healthy. Longevity seventeen years, eighteen years for
Stephan Curry, Can Kahn Can We'll do that over a
(31:01):
long period of time. I want to see it. And
CON's doing it, you know, right?
Speaker 6 (31:10):
Oh yeah, that might be a place you don't want
to go to, Charlotte, that might be a place too.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
All right. So you hear him there with Dan Patrick.
Speaker 7 (31:20):
Do you think that he's getting a little you know,
putting the cart before the horse a little bit too much?
Or do you think he actually has a point with
some of what he brings up.
Speaker 5 (31:29):
Well, first of all, my man, Walker, Man sits up
here with me, man, and I don't want to diss
his home.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
I saw it.
Speaker 5 (31:36):
But ain't nobody that played that ball in Indianapolis gonna
sit up here and dissed the Queen city like that.
First of all, it just ain't gonna happen. I know
it's probably more franchise related than city related. I get that.
But as far as what he's talking about, getting to
the crux of that, yeah, man, Curry's not done yet.
I mean I see him playing at least probably another
two or three seasons, So I think that record's gonna
(31:58):
get out there. But yeah, he's one one hundred percent correct.
I mean, when you look at it is a very
very small sample sizing, it is very very early. But
when you look at the numbers that he's putting up
and you want to have fun and project a little bit, Yeah,
if he does continue to stay healthy, which everything about
conkiniple and how he handles his business says that he
is a pros pro and he's going to continue to
(32:18):
be So I would think that this is a guy
that I can count on probably playing eighty five percent
to ninety percent of his games at minimum each and
every year, barring a catastrophic injury. So yeah, with the
way that he plays a game, the efficiency, the volume
of threes that he shoots, I think he's got a shot.
I mean, if I want to project way way, way
way out there, yeah, I mean I think he could
(32:39):
have a shot at the end of the day to
be right up there with any of the great Steph
Curry included. When you talk about three pointers made.
Speaker 6 (32:46):
All right, let's be real, Okay, it's clearly way too
early to be saying this. This is a wild statement
from Reggie Miller, just absolutely wild. If it were to
happen where somebody is going to beat Steph's record. I
think this is how looks through the first seventeen games
of somebody's NBA career, because they're not wrong. When you
go back and you look at the first three years
(33:06):
of Steph Curry's career, you had an injured season there
where he only appeared in twenty six games, and he
made three hundred and seventy two threes the first three
years of his NBA career. Just for reference, Con is
on pace for about let's call it, three hundred misses,
a couple games here and there, anywhere.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
From two seventy to three hundred.
Speaker 6 (33:25):
Already, you're talking about close to what Steph's total was
in the first two years. Okay, Con, congratulations, you gotta
do it twenty more seasons, can you do it? That's
really that's really the hard part because Steph he had
the injury ridden season with his ankles described as tissue
paper ankles that happened, and then you had the year
where he was out the entire season in twenty nineteen
(33:47):
twenty twenty, when Golden State tried to implement the two timelines,
you tank.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
For a year in between, absolutely, yep.
Speaker 6 (33:53):
So you had that at the very beginning of his career,
and then you had one other, real unhealthy season when
he only appeared in five games.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
He still looks fine.
Speaker 5 (34:01):
Man.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
Guess what.
Speaker 6 (34:02):
He leads the league in three pointers made right now
with seventy three. He leads the league in attempts at
one eighty three. He's shooting forty percent. This is the
best to ever do it, and there's not anybody that's
even close. Con could have a two week stretch where
he's not hitting threes all that well, and you might
come down a little bit. He's still gonna be efficient.
But are we still gonna have these Reggie Miller soundbites.
(34:24):
I don't know if it will be quite the conocopeia
of compliments. I like that I was waiting to drop
it all show along. It was a little too late.
That'll do it for the Live Wire here on West
and Walker. Big thanks to Floundy for helping us out
back at the Chandler Vaults of Studios. Hey, we got
one more segment. I told you, I want to get
to twenty thousand before we hand off these rains to

Challenge for me to walk off.
Speaker 6 (35:23):
Oh yeah, that's a walk off challenge, my friend.
Speaker 5 (35:29):
It's a walk off. It's a walk off.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
The West and Walker portion.
Speaker 6 (35:35):
Here at the WFNZ twenty third Annual Street Turkeys presented
by Ram Pavement for one more time here at least
on the West and Walker half. We are at the
Doghouse powered by Jack Daniels. We're broadcasting for one more segment,
but WFNZ has been here from six am all the

Speaker 1 (36:35):
All right.
Speaker 6 (36:35):
I promised you in the second hour that we would
also be getting away Hornets tickets, all right, So a
couple of different ways that you can earn some Hornets tickets.
You can stop by even still with a chance to
win some Hornets tickets to that Raptors game on Saturday,
that's November twenty ninth. But we're also going to be
giving you some tickets right here, right now. You ain't
got to wait for that drawing, all right. What you
can do is if you text Thanksgiving into the fandual
(36:58):
text line, gonna make you work a little bit easy.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
To spell, but more letters than usual.
Speaker 6 (37:03):
Do you want to spell a form or should they
have to earn this one by spelling Thanksgiving themselves?
Speaker 5 (37:07):
They should have to earn it by spelling.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
I gotta make you come on.
Speaker 5 (37:10):
Now, we've been talking about Thanksgiving since kindergarten, so you
should know how to spell it. Okay, did you ever.
Speaker 6 (37:15):
Do the game in elementary school where you would have
to make as many words as possible out of Thanksgiving
and then whoever had the most words got like some
kind of candy prize or whatever.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
Yeah, I was pretty good at those games.
Speaker 5 (37:27):
I gotta say, I'm probably getting sent to the other
class or something like that.
Speaker 6 (37:30):
Yeah, acting up, Yeah, anyways. Seven o four five seven
ninety six ten. FanDuel text line seven oh four five
seven oh ninety six ten. Text in Thanksgiving for your
chance to win hornets Raptors tickets Spectrum Center seven oh
four five seven oh ninety six ten. Now, if you're
gonna volunteer, don't be like, who's your Bobby who just
knocked down the fence over there at the courter like,
(37:52):
what was that? My man, he's been eating too much turkey.
My man is strong knocking down that that. I didn't
realize that thing was gonna come crash it down, but
it did. We do appreciate who's your Bobby though, the volunteering,
the way that he has. I like the Carolina Panthers saying,
just to the mountains tomorrow, that'll be it. Going to Boone,
(38:13):
all right, I'll see kW Maybe we can bind forces.
Maybe that's we can have some Thanksgiving together. Now we'll
be up there in the mountains at Boone, and then
I'll be coming right back.
Speaker 5 (38:23):
I'm just gonna ask, you know, because travel wise, man,
it's already showing videos at a four or five freeway
in downtown La. Boy, oh my goodness, it looks like
everybody that lives in La is trying to get out.
That's how congested it looks.
Speaker 6 (38:34):
Well, I'm gonna be going up there tomorrow morning and
then coming back down. So tomorrow morning is when I'm
gonna leave. Hopefully that's not as bad a big time
travel day. Hopefully everybody else is leaving the worst travel day,
the worst travel experience I've ever had in my entire life.
Was coming back from Indiana to Kataba County the Sunday
(38:54):
after the Sunday, Like you already know, it was the
worst thing I've ever had to deal with.
Speaker 5 (38:59):
Yeah, the only thing I'll propably try to do to
counter is leave as early as you can.
Speaker 6 (39:04):
You know what really hurt me Because I was ten,
I didn't have much patience. So coming across Pisga, Okay,
it was like a sign that said sixty two miles
to Hickory, and then two hours later I saw a
sign that said sixty miles to and I knew I'm
gonna have to use this peak up because.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
There's nowhere to stop. Obody's right here.
Speaker 6 (39:25):
We're all stopped back there at the bottle all that stuff.
Speaker 5 (39:28):
Man, Because we used to go to Savannah and when
we would come back I twenty six, I seventy seven.
On those sundays coming back, sometimes, man, you just in
absolute standstill traffic. You just sitting there, just hanging out.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
That's all it was. That's what it was. That was
the worst travel.
Speaker 5 (39:41):
Hanging around relatives that you didn't want to be around
in the first place.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
Fizzle you might say, fizzle around fizzle family.
Speaker 6 (39:49):
All right, let's tell you What's on Tap presented by
Twin Peaks Twin Peaks as locations in Concord and Fort Mill.
Twin Peaks is your local sports lodge. Come in from
May from Scratch Food and Signature, twenty nine degree Draft Beers,
Gobble Gobble. Nice little Thanksgiving Day slate for you. Good games,
real good games. One o'clock kick between Detroit and green Bay.
The Lions are seven and four, the Packers are seven
(40:11):
to three and one. It is the first of the
Thanksgiving Thanksgiving slate that we've ever had, I mean, has
to be part of it is because Detroit is just
good now. That helps a lot so we don't have
to watch bad football, and Dallas start to turn things
up a little bit.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
So it's nice to see them. Detroit, Green Bay.
Speaker 6 (40:28):
Who you got? I'm gonna go with Detroit. I got
the Lions. I'm gonna go with Green Bay. I don't
know what I'm seeing out of Detroit.
Speaker 5 (40:34):
Is it at home? Detroit?
Speaker 1 (40:36):
It's in Detroit, that's right?
Speaker 5 (40:37):
This always is What kind of question is that? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (40:39):
I got Detroit now, I was about to roast you. No,
it's all good. Flounder. Who you got? Back at the
Chandler Vault Studios.
Speaker 2 (40:44):
I will go with the Lions.
Speaker 7 (40:45):
I think at home they find a way to get
it done against a Packers team that I don't think
is as good as people think they are.
Speaker 6 (40:51):
For thirty kick between Dallas and Kansas City, the Cowboys
are of course hosting the Chiefs again five thirty kick, West,
leave us off?
Speaker 5 (40:59):
Who you got on with Dallas? I think Kansas City
they got one last week at home, but I think
the Dallas right now they're on fire. And this is
two teams that I hate. But man, it is a
sad day when West Bryan is rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.
I want them to smash the Chiefs.
Speaker 7 (41:15):
What you got, flound I will go with the Chiefs.
I think they found something last week. We know this
is the time of the year where they like to
get hot, and I hate the Cowboys, so yeah, I'll
go with the Chiefs.
Speaker 6 (41:26):
I'm gonna go with the Chiefs as well. Really don't
have a lot of evidence to point to. I just
believe in Pa my homes Baltimore hosting Cincinnati for the
night cap. Eight twenty kick between the Ravens and the Bengals.
Speaker 1 (41:38):
Who you got there? West.
Speaker 5 (41:39):
Between the Ravens. I'm going with the Baltimore Ravens. They
seem to be a team that is determined right now
since they've gotten Lamar Jackson, their fearless leader back, and
they've taken control of that division, and I don't think
it stops with Cincinnati, so I think they get to win.
Speaker 6 (41:53):
Speaking of fearless leader, Joe Burrow expected to play in
this game, So we'll see.
Speaker 1 (41:57):
I'm sure I know that's your boy.
Speaker 5 (41:58):
Get injured and be out another whatever amount of time
you might be right flound to who you got.
Speaker 7 (42:03):
I think it'll be a closer game than people are
expecting because you have Joe Burrow back. But I think
ultimately the Ravens get it done and continue their quest
to win the AFC North.
Speaker 6 (42:14):
All right, I've got the Ravens that'll do it for
Wes and Walker. Thanks again for joining us. Thanks to
everybody who donated. I'll leave you or we didn't pick
Bears the Eagles.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
Who you got?
Speaker 5 (42:21):
Between Bears Eagles, Oh, I'll go with the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (42:27):
Eagles.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
I'll go Eagles as well.
Speaker 6 (42:29):
