Welcome to Charlotte Kickoff Night powered by Ortho Carolina. Here
on Sports Radio ninety two seven w FNZ. High School
Football on WFNZ brought to you by Victory Chevrolet, where
new Silverados are discounted every day Victory Chevrolet dot Com.
We already have action here in the first game of
(00:56):
the evening between Myers Park and JM. Robinson. A one
hundred yard kickoff return for Chaz portis the wide receiver
for the Myers Park Mustangs. He takes the opening kickback
one hundred yards and Myers Park is on the board
to begin this game. Anthony Pegnada alongside Josh Marlow here
and so now we're gonna be catching up the rest
(01:17):
of the way on what's going on here tonight from
American Legion Memorial Stadium. A great scene here, two great
teams matching up here tonight. It should be a very
fun one. Josh Marlow.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
Yeah, if that kickoff was any indication what we're gonna
be in store for, We're gonna have a lot of
action here for the next six hours.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
This kickoff from Myers Park goes through the back of
the end zone, left side of the end zone, and
it'll be a touchback. They'll come out to the twenty
yard line for JM. Robinson. A team that over the
last four years has gone forty four and six, including
twelve to one in each of the last two seasons.
They were hoping that this season will once again bring
(01:58):
some success and potentially a state title, which they have lacked.
This is the third year under head coach Jason Sidel,
who has done a tremendous job for the Bulldogs, and
he's hoping that he can continue that year. In the
first game of the season tonight, Ri Grayfield or Ari Greenfield,
excuse me? His quarterback back in the shotgun and with
(02:22):
one back alongside of him. Three wide receivers to his right,
one to his left from the twenty yard line. As
we begin here, and we've got a flag right off
the start, let's see what this is. Looks like false
start on the offensive line for JM. Robinson, So that'll
move it back five yards and it'll be first down
(02:45):
and fifteen for the Bulldogs. Greenfield, still on the shotgun,
moves his running back LJ. Watson, who will play both
sides of the ball tonight is Greenfield keeps it to
the right and gets about five yards on the carry
(03:06):
and back to the original line of scrimmage at the
twenty yard line. Did a good job.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
They're getting back the penalty yardage visiting.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
That's gonna want to run the football, so you can
see a lot of that tonight with the quarterback run.
A lot of motion expected as well. Send them down
here a second and ten.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Green Field last year five hundred yards passing seven touchdowns.
That was as a backup quarterback. Now getting the reins
fully this season with one of the state's best running
games this series.
Speaker 5 (03:36):
LJ.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Watson. He takes the carry off to the right side
and we'll carry that one up right near the thirty
yard line. They're gonna give them right at the thirty,
So a gain of ten and a first down for JM. Robinson.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
A little bit of a generous spot, but a great
job setting up the block, attacking the hole, and then
getting to the second level of the defense, so we
know the seam wants to run the ball to carries
fifteen yards. Off to a good start for the running game.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Senior LJ. Watson last year one thy one hundred rushing yards,
eighteen touchdowns. Also in the backfield you'll see Ennis styles
at some point eight hundred yards, six touchdowns. Last year's
greenfield hands to Watson up the middle this time on
the right hash and he'll gain about three yards there
will bring up second down and seven for JM. Robinson.
Speaker 5 (04:26):
So a lot of carries on the ground early here.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Seems like this is gonna be the rhythm that they're
going to try to establish, and it makes a lot
of sense. With the playmakers that Myers Park has, you
would believe they are going to be looking for the
explosive plays. JM. Robinson maybe just trying to wear down
this Meyers Park team this evening.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
Not a bad game play, considering that Myers Park Part
seven on the board for they even touched the football,
all right, and you.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
See the false count. They're from the quarterback Greenfield and
gets meyers Park to jump offside. Looks like number eleven
to mad Lewis, who is a newbie for Meyers Park
but one of the best defensive linemen in the state.
Is currently down to five schools as a senior, considering
(05:09):
NC State, Texas, Texas A, and m USC and Washington.
On the other side of him, Rodney Dunham, who is
a four star recruiters Greenfield keeps it up the middle
and got absolutely walloped and it'll be third down and
(05:30):
about one coming up here for J. M. Robinson.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Yeah, Greenfield kept the ball because his running that was
gonna get tackled for a three four yard loss. He
may have taken the ball four, but he also took
a big lick as well.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Yeah, smart play though to keep the ball in his
hands there. And now it brings up third down and
one can this Myers Park defense find a way to
get off the field? Two backs too in the barfield
and list let's see here, Josh says, it's going to
be a false start. Definitely saw Myers Park jump there,
so we'll see the referees are gonn huddle together, make
(06:07):
sure they get this one right. False start. You got
it right there, JM. Robinson, and that's gonna back them up.
So third and one now turns into third and six.
Certainly not what Jason Sidel was looking for there from
his guys.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Feels like they'll have to put the ball in the
air for the first time this drive, and so it'll
be third down and six.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Greenfield in the shotgun LJ. Porter to his right, two
wide receivers to his right and one to the left.
As Greenfield, we'll keep it here and tries to scramble
forward but can't find much room there, and so it's
gonna be fourked down and about three yards remaining from
(06:54):
their own thirty seven yard line. And it looks like
the punting units coming out here.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
Great pursuit by maud Lewis, who switched side of the formation,
came across from the left side, made it all. Did
not make the initial play, but force of the ball
to be tackled, so great effort by him. And that's
why you mentioned its being recruited by a major Division
one programs at the college level looks.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Like Reese zosbo Reese Zabo, excuse me? Is back to
punt this one, and we've got another flag. And this
is a lot like what we saw last night early
in the Key Pounding Classic as another false start. That
(07:36):
is the third false start penalty or pre snap penalty
at least here in the first drive for JM. Robinson. Still,
you know, a decently productive drive, move the ball a
little bit with your running game. But now they're having
to punt back to Myers Park. Is Zabo just does
get this off. It's a short punt, but it'll take
(07:58):
a JM. Robins and bounced to about the thirty two
yard line of Meyers Park, and that's where the Mustangs
will take over. We'll get our first look at this
Mustang offensive team that last year went four and six
and three and four in conference under head coach Chris James.
(08:20):
They are looking for much better results this year with
some really good talent across the board here for this group.
So it'll be first down and ten. The quarterback Ramir
Watson coming out for Myers Park. I'll have one back
(08:44):
to his right, three wide receivers to the right side,
and here's Watson on a keeper. He's got some room
and makes a man miss. Now in the open field,
Watson takes it inside the fifteen yard line, and let's
see what a huge play there to start out for
(09:08):
Myers Park. Have to do the math here real quick
in my head, but a massive, massive play. And then
we talked about it the explosives for Myers Park. They
get one right there.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
Yeah, I think it was a fifty yard rush there,
as you mentioned, two plays or one offensive play fifty yard.
Of course the kickoff return for the touchdown to start
the game. A great start for the Mustangs.
Speaker 5 (09:28):
All right.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
And so at the eighteen yard line of JM. Robinson,
Snap almost drops it and then Watson keeps it. He's
got a guy that he throws to in the end zone.
Brody Keith, Oh, let's see if he caught it. There
is a flag on the field. They're calling it a touchdown.
Brody Keith tapped it to himself, pulls it in. The
(09:50):
Duke commit with a touchdown at least for the moment.
But a flag is on the field back towards the
initial line of scrimmage. See what they call here, and
this one is definitely a flag on the opening kickoff.
We thought there was a flag, but that turned out
to just be a shoe.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
Regardless.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
What a great individual play by Ramir Watson to take
care of a fumblesnap and turn something into nothing.
Speaker 5 (10:19):
Yeah, Brody Keith with an outstanding grab.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
He had an outstanding grab in last year's game two
here or excuse me, that was in the key pounding class.
He had one that didn't count and this one will
not count either, unfortunately for Brody keif as it looks
like it's gonna be a five yard penalty, so not
sure what that is.
Speaker 5 (10:38):
Maybe an illegal formation. There were two penalties.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
I think one was a legal formation that was declined
illegal man down field.
Speaker 5 (10:44):
There you go, okause it was the accepted penalty.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
So this offensive line for Myers Park, a stacked offensive line,
one of the better ones in the Charlotte area, unfortunately,
gets a little too far down field. A five yard
penalty backs him up to the twenty three hand off
up the middle for Josh foul Zarno and it'll be
(11:09):
a gain of about one up to the twenty two
yard line. It'll be second down and about fourteen to
go here for Myers Park.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
The first real positive play defensively for Robinson, whether it's
been on special teams or in their actual defensive units.
So just they got to settle down, take a deep breath.
Long way to go, but mars Park's able to come
out swinging a couple of explosive plays. The difference here
early on is Watson takes the snap, now looks, throws
(11:40):
wide open receiver and over overthrew them. There a wide
open receiver right in the middle of the field, right
underneath the goalpost, Miles Young and unfortunately Watson unable to
hit him.
Speaker 6 (11:56):
You know, the.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Robinson pass rush. They are just able to make him
not be to step into that throw. It should have
been a touchdown. Now make sets up third and long.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
So third down and fourteen, they're gonna empty the backfield
here for meyers Park. Four wide receivers to the right
side of the quarterback Brody Keith lined up down on
the left side by himself.
Speaker 5 (12:18):
As Watson throws a love ball for.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Keith, Keith can't come down with it incomplete. Great coverage
on the play on the outside by number thirty four
for JM. Robinson.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
Yeah, Watson was looking that way the entire way. Great
job by the Robinson corner. He was in press coverage
and not loose side of the Duke commit. And now
what was looking like to be a sure touchdown drive
now sets up a long field goal.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
That was Demonte Barr who was playing on the outside
there against Brody Keith. Good job by him. And now
here comes James Remsen trying to make this a two
score ball game. Here early on Remsen kick is up
and that is good from about thirty nine yards for
(13:10):
James Remsen.
Speaker 5 (13:13):
And so we will take a break.
Speaker 7 (13:16):

You were listening to a Charlotte kickoff night on Sports
Radio ninety two point seven.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Welcome back to American Lechia Memorial Stadium. Anthony Flounderpegna at,
Josh Fitty Marlow here with you and a kickoff that's
sailed through the end zone from James Rems and I
think we're going to see a lot of that tonight.
Impressive leg on the young man from Myers Park. And
so it'll be first down and ten from the twenty
(14:54):
yard line their own twenty yard line. An interesting four
field back out my bad interesting formation here at the.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
To the left or the right hand side of the quarterback.
You've got three wide receivers, one stack behind one another.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Yeah, and they go attempt to hand off their green
Field fumbled. It shakes off a couple of defenders and
gets back near the initial line of scrimmage. Actually is
going to be back at the initial line of scrimmage,
and so a crazy play there, but it'll bring up
second down and ten. Seems like a miscommunication there between
the quarterback and it's running back.
Speaker 9 (15:27):
L J.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
Porter.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
I feel like jam Robinson, they just need to kind
of settle things down. They've tried to do some motions
that's led to pre snap piltis nikemouth, an exotic formation
that has nothing to do with the miscommunication on the backfield.
Speaker 5 (15:38):
But just line up, snap the ball and run it.
Speaker 10 (15:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
Definitely seem a little nervous here out of the gate.
Down ten to nothing. As the snap to Greenfield, they'll
roll to his right. Greenfield throws that one complete for
right about five yards. They're gonna give him six on
the play right there, complete two, number five for Antonio
Howie the wide receiver, and so it'll bring up third
(16:05):
down and now they're marking it back third down in
about five. No, it'll be third down and four where
they're spotting the ball first wraps a little off.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
First completed pass for the Bulldogs gets them though in
third and manageable here. So they could they could throw it,
but with their ability to want to run the football,
it's gonna be a rundown as well.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
Two running backs in the backfield with the quarterback Ari Greenfield,
they're split, one to his left, one to his right.
Now you got Antonio Howie in motion. Greenfield will drop back,
pressure coming in his face, gets it off to the
running back LJ.
Speaker 5 (16:40):
Porter, and it's gonna be really close.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
They're gonna give them the first down out to the
thirty one yard line.
Speaker 5 (16:45):
It'll be a first down for JM. Robinson.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
A great job by a great job by Grienfield standing
in the pocket with Lawrence in his face to make
that throw. Sets up at first and ten.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
All right, So first down and ten from the thirty
one yard line for the Bulldogs. Split backs will stay
in the backfield, two wide receivers to his left. One
down to his right. Greenfield drops the snat, picks it
up and again scrambling and he'll.
Speaker 5 (17:18):
Find a way to pick up some yards.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
So once again looks like he has trouble handling the
ball in the backfield, but he finds a way to
scramble for about two yards and it'll be second down
to eight.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Some of their most productive offensive plays have come on
broken plays. Definitely not what you want to do going
into every drive, but he's done something with nothing a
lot of times.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
Hey, you gotta like the fact that he has been
able to He doesn't panic when something goes wrong. He's
able to pick the ball up calmly and make something happen.
Second down and eight, Greenfield keeps it on a speed
option and he'll just end up holding on to it
instead of pitching it to his back. LJ. Porter picks
up about up four yards and it'll be third down
(18:04):
and about four.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
That was the first time, Anthony I've noticed that Jay
and Robinson has put a tight end on the same
side of the formation as demod Lewis a ran right
at him. That extra brocco that allows him against four yards.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
So third down and four, try to draw the defense
off side, and now Greenfield gets the audible from the
sideline and relays it to the rest of the team.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
LJ.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Porter to his left tail hand off to Porter up
the middle and stopped right there. Demaud Lewis the man
that brings down LJ. Porter And it'll be fourth down
in about three yards to go here for J. M. Robinson.
(18:56):
And now a decision here from your own thirty nine.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
Looks like they're gonna set up and go for nothing
you could do there with Demaud Lewis, who shed the
offensive lineman, just reached out with this big Paul and
brought the running back to the ground.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
So fourth down, and and let's see there are flags
on the play as Greenfield tried to draw the Myers
Park defense off side, but may have caused another false
start from his offensive line. Yep, another false start on
(19:33):
the J. M. Robinson offensive line. Fourth in the first
two possessions. And with that, Jason Sidel says, we got
to send out the punting unit.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
Have they been able to move the ball in both
of their offensive drives mainly on the ground, but it's
been these pre snap penalties that have really put them
behind the chains that have neglected what could have been
promising drives, all right.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
So fourth down and seven and the punting unit is
out once again. Reese's Zabo is back to punt it away.
As Zabo will get that one off falls to the ground.
This is a short punt and it'll roll out of
bounds on the near sideline at about the forty eight
(20:23):
yard line, and that is where Myers Park will be
taking over. As once again, you are listening to the
Charlotte kickoff dight powered by Ortho Carolina. Ortho Carolina has
urgent care options that focus on orthopedic injuries such as sprains, fractures, strains,
(20:46):
and dislocations. You can count on Ortho Carolina to be
the more efficient, reliable, and better choice when it comes
to your care needs. Visit Ortho Carolina today. So first
down and ten as Watson will take it, tries a
little sidearm throw to Brody Keith there with the pressure
(21:07):
in his face, and that one is incomplete. It'll be
second down and ten.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
Ye had great job by the Robinson defender to get
his hand up.
Speaker 5 (21:15):
Just bat that ball down.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
This is a really big drive for the Bulldog's defense
to try to keep them in this ball game.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
Got that right already ten nothing thanks to a kickoff
return for a touchdown by Chaz Portois hundred yard kickoff
return for a touchdown in a thirty nine yard field
goal from James Rempston. The kicker is this run up
the middle, doze absolutely nowhere, Josh Falzaro on the carry
(21:48):
there and.
Speaker 5 (21:48):
A host of J. M.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
Robinson defenders led by Ennis Styles in there for the tackle.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
Yeah, he had nowhere to go for the moment he
got the football down. So that's up a third and
long here.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Third down and about eleven yards. As Ramir Watson lines
up in the pistol with Valzarno behind him, two wide
receivers to each side, Watson drops back, throws fires wide
open receiver caught there at about the forty eight yard
(22:22):
line of JM. Robinson and then able to make it
out to the forty five yard line. But it'll be
about three yards short of the first down and it'll
be fourth down and three in a decision here for
Meyers Park. They're gonna waste no time with them up
by ten, and it looks like they're gonna send out
the punting.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Unit, though maybe they were gonna go for but that
had been a better throw, that would have been a
first down. There were three Robinson defenders that were tracking
Brody Keith Rayley was actually open.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
A better throw and he'll be able to keep us
my momnum, he'd have gotten.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
The first down, all right, So it'll be fourth down
and three notable Ashton Rolland who is listed as a
quarterback is the punter that is out. He'll get this
one off high sailing kick. This is fielded at about
the one yard line by jam Robinson and there were
(23:14):
turner dropped at the five yard line. Looked like it
was number thirty three Nahim Snipe who ended up fielding
it back there. And it was Nahem Snipe who fielded
it back there at the one yard line, gets it
out to the five yard line. But boy, that's one
that you probably wanted to roll into the end zone there.
Speaker 5 (23:35):
Looks like you just kind of lost track of where
he was on the field.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Yeah, that won't be a fun film such for him
when they review the tape on Sunday or Monday. But
that's what it had to be, because I find it
hardly if he knew he was at the one year old,
he would have fielded that ball. I mean you lost
fifteen yards of field position and you've had issues in
your first year, drives been able to sustain possession.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
So first down and ten from their own five yard line,
ninety five yards to go if they want to put
a touchdown on the board as Greenfield to come out.
LJ Porter to his right. Here, we've got a whistle
and looks like a timeout. I'm not sure which team
(24:19):
ended up taking it there. Didn't see any signal from
the referee as to who exactly took the time out.
But with that time out, let's take a break here

Fires Park ten.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
JM. Robinson Nothing.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
JM.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
Robinson with the ball completion on first down of nine
yards gets it to second down and about one as
a hand off to the running back LJ. Porter, He'll
steam through the middle and gets out to about the
twenty three yard line, so a gain of about nine
(26:07):
there and it'll be first down for J. M. Robinson.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
Back to back big plays.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
Nine yards both gives him a chance to first off,
get a first down, get out of the back of
their own end zone, but also create some momentum.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
First down and ten handoff the porter up the middle
and it'll pick up about three there, it'll be second
down and six as we tick under a minute here
to go in the first quarter.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
That was a tough one because I felt like he
got hit initially at the line of scrimmage, but was
able to power through and gain a gain four. That's
one thing to notice we've seen here in this first
quarter of these bulldog running backs.
Speaker 5 (26:51):
It's gonna take multiple guys to get them to the ground.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
Second down and about five, here's Greenfield rolling and completing
to his receiver. Looks like CJ. Wattie on the catch.
There in a great play by Camden Portis. And yes,
if you're wondering, that is the son of Clinton Port
(27:14):
it's Chas Portis. Also his younger brother, excuse me, twin brother.
I bad.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
That was a great tackles. He was out there in space.
Speaker 4 (27:23):
If he misses that tackle, there's a lot of grass
in front of him. But he was able to take
that receiver down to the ground and the quick manner
now sets up not third and long, but definitely feels
like a passing down for J. M.
Speaker 5 (27:34):
Robinson.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Clock stopped at fourteen seconds. Let's see the referees with
an officials time out. Not sure what exactly they are doing.
It looks like they're sending some of the medical staff
(27:56):
out and looks like they are. Oh, I think someone
lost their lunch possibly, you.
Speaker 4 (28:06):
Know, I know that feeling about losing your lunch in
this stadium. We'll talk about that as the nineties along.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
Do we have to?
Speaker 4 (28:12):
Well, the last time I was in this stadium back
in early spring, it was not the memories I was
hoping to make.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
I got a medal, though. Did you get beat by
Smoke in a race.
Speaker 5 (28:23):
That may or may not have happened?
Speaker 3 (28:25):
This is you, though, the ultra competitor. I'm shocked.
Speaker 4 (28:30):
I was due from the beginning because our fearless leader
and the guy whose idea this was, the great Colin
John Hoggart somehow missed the entire event, but was there
to be at the finish line when Smoke beat me.
I did finish forty third, though, out of my class,
So that was something I felt proud about of forty
three that ran in that heat.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Oh interesting, interesting, all right? So third down and about
five here for J. M. Robinson really feels like they
need something positive here.
Speaker 5 (29:01):
Greenfield hands it off the porter.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
He'll break around the right tackle and pick up a
first down out to the forty five yard line, a
gain of twelve and a first down for JM.
Speaker 5 (29:14):
Robinson.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
Great blocked by Noah Mobley there on that right side
to seal that defensive end that spring that run, and
it looks like this Jam Robinson offense has found some
momentum and some brothers as we head into the second quarter.
Speaker 3 (29:27):
Yeah, gain is sixteen actually there, So that's the end
of the first quarter here at the Charlotte Kickoff Night
powered by Ortho Carolina here on Sports Radio ninety two
seven wfn Z.
Speaker 14 (29:41):
Summers in Charlotte, And if you hate the paint, do

Speaker 16 (29:52):
Mid century and modern load. We were driving around and
we saw a signing somebody's yard and said, Rhino Shield.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
It's not paint. It's not paint. It's better.
Speaker 7 (29:59):
He gave run Field a call and they were fantastic
with the arrangement.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
On the schedule.
Speaker 7 (30:04):
The twenty five year guarantee was important to us. This

Speaker 3 (30:47):
Welcome back to American Legion Memorial Stadium. Second quarter about
to get underway between Myers Park and JM. Robinson, the
Mustangs with a ten nothing we JM. Robinson with the
ball at their her own forty five yard line, trying
to put together a drive here and get themselves firmly
back into this game. By the way, high school football

here on Sports Radio ninety two seven. WFNZ is sponsored
by Victory Chevrolet, the easiest Chevy store to get to
Exit twelve or fourteen off of I four eighty five
Victorychevy dot.
Speaker 5 (31:22):
Com as a carry up the middle.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
By JM. Robinson looks like Ennis Styles with the carry,
their first carry of the game for him, and he
comes up hobbling and now falls to the turf after
a gain of eight and the trainers unfortunately out to
look at the very valuable running back slash linebacker for JM. Robinson.
Speaker 4 (31:51):
It'd be a big blow for JM if he was
to a missingtended period of time. This has been the
best possession that we've seen from this Bulldog offense that
started I just own one one yard line. They've had
two plays of nine yards at a sixteen yard gain
in eighteen or eight yard rush right there. So maybe slowly,
but they're starting to wear down this Myers Park defensive
(32:12):
line because we know they want to run the ball,
limit possessions. The only dealers are they if they can
keep this game close and right now they can still
run their offensive way they want to.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
So the medical staff still out taking a look at him.
Looks like both coaches coach or at least coaches from
both sides have come out to check on styles, and
so we'll take a break right here with the player
(32:43):
down on the field. This is Charlotte Kickoff Night powered
by Ortho.
Speaker 18 (32:46):

Speaker 2 (33:43):
You were listening to a Charlotte Keckoff Night on Sports
Radio ninety two point seven UFNZ.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
Second down and two as Greenfield drops back, throws one
up and that one almost intercepted viving played by a
Myers Park defender, but they're gonna call it incomplete and
a near interception as we come back from that short
break there as and his styles was helped off to
(34:13):
the sidelines limping, and a near turnover for J. M. Robinson.
Now leads to third down and two LJ. Porter in
the backfield. Porter takes the handoff, will churn his way
up the middle for a first down and so needing
(34:34):
a first down, they put it in the hands of
their senior running back and he gets the job done
right there. And now another injury, this time an offensive
lineman appears to be down. Looks like it might be
Jaden Covington, the senior offensive lineman is writhing in paint
(34:59):
on the ground and the trainers are out to take
a look at him. Now eleven h five to go
here in the first quarter. Ten nothing Meyers Park over JM. Robinson.
Speaker 5 (35:18):
You mentioned it.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
This is probably the most productive drive that we have
seen so far from JM. Robinson. And again sticking with
the ground game, as that is Elijah Shu actually who
was down on the ground. They're the senior offensive and
defensive lineman able to get up on his own and
jog over to the sidelines under his own power. So
(35:39):
that's certainly good to.
Speaker 4 (35:40):
See, you know, you definitely feel good for him. But
you mentioned this drive started inside their own five. They've
made their way across midfield and every drive has been
an adventure so far for this Bulldog offense. This one
you almost had a near interception. You come back, you
pick up the first time. They can get some points
out of this drive. They have to feel really good
with where they are concerning how this game started and
(36:01):
on the pre snap penalties that the railed their first
few possessions.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
So first down and ten from the Myers Park forty
two greenfield with the running back Porter to his right
to his left. Excuse me as Porter tries to run
to the right side and nowhere to go, absolutely shut
down by the Meyers Park defense again. Looked like Demaud
Lewis again making things tough on that right side for JM.
(36:26):
Robinson's rushing offense.
Speaker 5 (36:27):
Yeah, he tried to be patient and set up his blocks.
Speaker 4 (36:30):
The only problem was there was no for him to
run once he waited for a whole or two to open,
And it feels like every time there's been a negative
play has been to Maud Lewis for meyers Park.
Speaker 5 (36:38):
The guy that's causing causing just.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
That, Yeah, guy wreaking havoc. One of the newcomers for
this Meyers Park team this year as they try to
avenge one of their tougher seasons in recent memory of
four and six record last season. Second down and eleven.
Greenfield takes the snap, rolls to his left, throws that
one is complete? Is it inbounds? It is, and it'll
(37:01):
be a first down. London McElroy with the catch along
the sidelines. Actually it is going to be second down.
They are just a yard short of the first down.
Speaker 4 (37:13):
Did a really good job getting that foot down in bounds.
I've been really impressed with this Jam Robinson passing attack.
When they give Greenfield out in a mobile pocket, that
feels like when they were able to move the ball
down the field through the air.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
Second down and one and Greenfield on a keeper and
he'll pick up the first down, gets it out to
about the twenty seven yard line, gain of about four
and another first down for JM. Robinson keeping this promising drive.
Speaker 4 (37:41):
Alive the first Reid option player I think we've seen
since the second drive, and every time Greenfield's been able
to be put that defensive and conflict, he's made the
right read and that time it gives his offense another
first and ten.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
So first down and ten, this time from the Myers
Park twenty seven. As Porter takes the hand off and
carries it over right tackle gets back to the line
of scrimmage, maybe picks up a gain of one there.
As demd lewis again involved on that play right there,
(38:16):
his helmet comes off though, and they'll have to come
out for a play. That's sireh relief for JM. Robinson
with what he's been doing so far in this game.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
If he loses his lid but not lose contained on
that right side of the field, forces the runner back
inside and what could have been a big run only
turns up in the gain of two.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
So second down and about nine here. As green Field
drops back, immediate pressure, takes a huge hit and he
got the ball away a blitz looked like they sent
the defensive back Camden portis right off the outside. No
(38:58):
one picked him up and a huge hit taken there
by Ari Greenfield on the incompletion.
Speaker 5 (39:04):
A perfectly time blitz.
Speaker 4 (39:05):
Greenfield never saw it, luckily just to get the ball away,
but nonetheless took a big hit.
Speaker 5 (39:10):
Sets up third and long.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
So third down and nine. Greenfield looks to the sideline
for the play call that he's gonna have LJ. Porter
to his left, three wide receivers to his left, one
ride receiver to his right. Greenfield drops back throws.
Speaker 5 (39:29):
And that one is incomplete down.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
The field looking for number four Antonio Howie. Good coverage
on the outside. There by cam guy for Myers park Yea.
Howie slipped as he was trying to make the catch.
Speaker 5 (39:45):
CJ. Wattie slipped in his route to begin with, so.
Speaker 4 (39:49):
Don't know if that's what his initial read was at,
but both receivers had a hard time standing upright.
Speaker 3 (39:55):
So four down and nine from the twenty six of
min Park, and a timeout has been called by the Mustangs.
Want to make sure they've got everything right here on
what is a key fourth down here for J. M. Robinson. Boy,
it feels like they need this one because this has
been such a successful drive already eight forty four to
(40:19):
go in the second quarter. It feels like, if they're
gonna get on the board here in the first half,
this might be their opportunity.
Speaker 5 (40:24):
Well, that's what you mentioned. There has been a promising drive.
Speaker 4 (40:26):
They've moved the ball from inside their five all the
way deep into Mustangs territorble.
Speaker 5 (40:30):
But they've also ran a lot of time off the clock.
Speaker 4 (40:32):
You got to get some sort of points on the
board to really feel positive about what you've done here in.
Speaker 5 (40:37):
This first half.
Speaker 4 (40:38):
Also, that time out may have been to get Demaud
Lewis back on the field.
Speaker 3 (40:43):
Could be yeah, could be an odd could be one
of the reasons why they wanted to do that. And
so both teams coming out of the huddle here. Now
tell you what, Ari Greenfield, as you mentioned, I've been
pretty impressed with him so far early in this game. Really,
both quarterbacks have looked pretty impressive out of the gate.
(41:05):
But yeah, the guy that's really standing out to maud Lewis.
He has had a huge game here again, big time
power for recruit at the defensive end spot for Myers
Park four down and nine.
Speaker 5 (41:24):
As LJ.
Speaker 3 (41:25):
Porter comes in motion out of the slot receiver spot.
Now into the backfield, here's Ari Greenfield dropping back throw
is complete over the middle and a first down. What
a huge throw there from Ari Greenfield. It'll be about
a twenty one yard game and it'll be first down
(41:51):
and ten inside first and goal, excuse me, inside the
ten yard line for JM.
Speaker 5 (41:56):
Robinson. The guy that made that play possible is L J.
Speaker 4 (41:59):
Watson in the backfield, helped picked up Demaud Lewis, and
pass protection gave Greenfield just enough time to step up
in the pocket and make that throw.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
Yeah, great catch there on the play by Tyson van
Dijck again as the hand off to the left side
for LJ. Porter and he's brought down. Looked like number
fifty five maccary Cisa is the one who ends up
getting in there and dropping. And we've got another player
(42:28):
down for West Charlotte, and so we will take another
break here on Charlotte Kickoff Night powered by Ortho Carolina
live here on Sports Radio ninety two seven WFNZ.

You're listening to Charlotte Kickoff Night on Sports Radio ninety
two point SEVENFNZ.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
Sports Radio ninety two to seven WFNZ broadcasting live from
American Legion Memorial Stadium. You're an uptown Charlotte second down
and goal from about the eight yard line for JM.
Robinson as Screenfield keeps it on a run to the
(43:56):
right and we'll get back to the line of scrimmage.
That's about it. It'll be third down and goal they
took a big hit on that run as well.
Speaker 4 (44:06):
Nowhere to go though, looking for that short pass to
the right corner of the end zone, trying to tuck
it down and run, but there was nothing there.
Speaker 3 (44:15):
It's like Hank Thrasher, the linebacker for Myers Park on
the bringdown there does have an offer from Hamden and
Hampden Sydney College, by the way, pointed out to us
during the break by the esteemed Colin Hoggard, who is
engineering and his styles has taken his shoulder pads off
(44:38):
along with his jerseys, so that does not look promising.
They taped up the right ankle, but doesn't look like
he's gonna be able to continue.
Speaker 5 (44:44):
Going into as a delay of game on JM.
Speaker 3 (44:47):
Robinson gonna back him up even further so it'll be
third down and goal now from the thirteen yard line.
Speaker 5 (44:53):
With six forty two to go. Second time that's happened.
Speaker 4 (44:56):
Ironically, the first delayed game was the first offensive play
of the game for ja Ann Robinson. The second one
here on a big third and goal situation and.
Speaker 3 (45:04):
A time out. As a response to that timeout, Jason
Sidel and JM. Robinson trying to get his group together
by the way, the last injury that we saw Tyson
van Dijke, the wide receiver who caught the big twenty
one yard pass that set up JM. Robinson inside of
(45:31):
the ten yard line. He was able to get off
to the sideline under his own power. Tonight's game here,
the Charlotte kickoff night, of course, is powered by Ortho Carolina.
Orthough Carolina's orthopedic expertise is all around you, from urgent
care to your full recovery. Ortho Carolina is there every
(45:54):
step of the way. Orthough Carolina your better choice from
muscular muscul skeletal care.
Speaker 20 (46:06):
And so.
Speaker 3 (46:08):
Sidel If you're side L what are you thinking here?
Third down, thirteen to go. I think this is one
of those scenarios where even if you just get half
of the yardage, give yourself an opportunity on fourth down
to have a couple of options to play with.
Speaker 4 (46:22):
Well, it looks like they've got the ball still marked
inside the ten, so maybe they gave them the timeout as.
Speaker 3 (46:27):
Opposed to the delay a game. Yeah, maybe that was
what they actually did. Yeah, you're right, it is going
to be third down and goal from the eight yard line,
so a little bit easier here for JM. Robinson. If
they're looking to pick up some of those yards, it
feels like it's two down territory. Greenfield drops back, throws
wide open receiver, touchdown.
Speaker 5 (46:46):
JM.
Speaker 3 (46:46):
Robinson land in hoarding the tight end, and just like that,
a long drive for JM. Robinson ends up getting capitalized for.
You're a touchdown and the Bulldogs with a chance to
pull back within three. Here.
Speaker 4 (47:05):
I got nervous. I thought he was gonna drop the ball.
Great play call out of the time out. You usually
little play action, you suck the linebacker or nothing. You're
gonna run the ball, you pop it behind them for
a touchdown. It looks we've got a ball game on
our hands here in the second quarter.
Speaker 3 (47:21):
And so Reese Zabo on to a Texas to attempt
the extra point. This snap way off. Zabo picks it
up and he's dropped in the backfield. Josh Heines the
defensive back with the tackle. But a poor snap there
from the long snapper wasn't even close for the holder
to be able to get it, and the score will
(47:43):
remain ten to six in favor of Meyers Park.
Speaker 5 (47:45):
Yeah, that young man needs to watch them.
Speaker 4 (47:47):
JJ Jansen Snapple a Hontter properly long snap the football.
It looks like hopefully that does not come back to
be a big point of VI since we get into
the second half of this game.
Speaker 3 (47:59):
Looks like West said Alasar the long snapper with the
mistake there for JM. Robinson. But yeah, hopefully that's something
that they can overcome as now Myers Park gets set
for the return. Of course, earlier in the game, our
first play of the game, chas portis with a one
(48:20):
hundred yard kickoff return for a touchdown to get the
day started. Here really set the tone for Myers Park.
Speaker 4 (48:29):
You have to imagine one way or another, they will
not be kicking the ball in his direction.
Speaker 3 (48:37):
I definitely think they're gonna stay away from him as
he is back deep and as Zaba will send this
one into the air that's fielded at about the five
(48:59):
yard line. A good return. Ah a big hit though
from jam Robinson. Looked like Eric Santos on the return
there for Myers Park. But he takes a big hit
out at about the twenty seven yard line where actually
they're gonna mark them at the twenty nine yard line.
(49:21):
It'll be first down and ten for Myers Park.
Speaker 4 (49:24):
Interested to see what this Myers Park offense can do
on this possession. There's been a long time since they
were on the field after an eight minute drive by
jam Robinson, so this offense would have put up three points.
Gonna try to find some rhythm here deep in the
second half.
Speaker 3 (49:38):
I'm here Watson in the pistol with Josh Valzarno behind him.
Three wide receivers to the right of Watson. Now he'll
send Falsarno out there as well. Valsarno on the swing
pass picks up a few, give them four yards out
(49:59):
to the or five yards out to the thirty four
yard line. It'll be second down and five.
Speaker 4 (50:05):
Maybe we'd get a block in the back there as
that one corner try to come down and make the play. Overall,
great pursuit by jam Robinson, noticing that immediately that was
gonna be a pass to the running back as he.
Speaker 5 (50:16):
Motioned out of the backfield.
Speaker 4 (50:18):
This Myers Park offense, it's fun to watch their creative
They're exotic, alright.
Speaker 3 (50:25):
So second down and five, as motion Chaz Portus across
the formation and a handoff up the middle, and Falzarno
able to race this one out to the forty four
yard line, so a gain of about ten. Now they'll
(50:46):
market at the forty two, so a gain of about
eight and a first down for Myers Park.
Speaker 4 (50:51):
He got to the second level before he was even touched,
so luckily that that could have been a much bigger play.
Now Myers Park can pick up the tempo.
Speaker 3 (51:01):
Watson takes the snap, he'll look to his right now,
decides to take off, and he'll scamper with it. Watson
down the sideline and well into jam Robinson territory, down
to about the twenty yard line, and it'll be first
(51:23):
down in ten there for Myers Park. Another huge play,
this time from the quarterback Ramier Watson.
Speaker 4 (51:31):
Yeah, I question if they would be in rhythm. Nonetheless,
they have not missed a beat. It looked like Robinson
had the linebacker more spying, but that's gonna be a
mismatch every time.
Speaker 5 (51:40):
Was he able to run away from him down the sidelines?
Speaker 7 (51:42):
All right?
Speaker 3 (51:42):
So first down in ten as Watson will hand this
one off and Falzarno on the run, he'll take it
in for a touchdown. Josh Valzarno from twenty yards out,
touchdown Myers Park and with five twenty two to go
in second quarter, it is sixteen to six in favor
(52:04):
of the Mustangs. You said you wanted to see something
there from Meyers Park Parks offense, and they gave it
to you.
Speaker 4 (52:10):
Yeah, great job by the right tackle ceiling that side
of the line. Valsarno's first run this drive go to
the second level untouched. His second run second level also untouched.
That one that results in a touchdown. So James remsen
on to attempt the extra point. That kick is up
(52:31):
and that kick is no good off to the right,
and so it will remain sixteen to six, and so
a break there for jam Robinson. Now back to a
ten point game as opposed to an eleven point game
for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 3 (52:49):
But hey, look that last drive. The Bulldogs seem to
get something going leaning on that running game. But Ari
Greenfield with a couple of big passes. We'll see if
he's able to build off of that here in this drive.
Speaker 4 (52:59):
Yeah, that Myers Park defense not a whole lot of
time to rest and catch their breath, So maybe they
can kind of build off off that last drive be
able to wear them down up front in the running game.
Big five mites and twenty two seconds left to go
before we get to halftime.
Speaker 3 (53:20):
Would like to see jam Robinson get some points out
of this drive again. One of the more successful teams
in the entire state over the last few years. Unfortunately,
when they've gotten to the playoffs though, they just haven't
been able to finish the deal. But forty four and
six over the last four seasons, including twelve and one
(53:43):
in back to back seasons under coach Jason sidel as
Remsen will send this one deep and Jam Robinson just
gonna give it a look as that one will head
into the en zone for a touchback. And so this JM.
Robinson offense getting ready to come back out again. So far,
(54:06):
are a greenfield in this game, very successful.
Speaker 5 (54:09):
LJ.
Speaker 3 (54:09):
Watson looks like he was going to carry a majority
of the load anyways, but with the injury to Annas Styles,
it seems like he's gonna be their guy for most
of the night.
Speaker 4 (54:18):
YEP, expect the heavy dose of him. Greenfield in the
running game. We've been able to pass the ball though,
whether's in a mobile pocket or just in a traditional
stand back in the pocket, So they've kind of got
their full playbook right now at their disposal. So first
down and ten from the twenty yard line. Three wide
receivers to his right, along with the running back to
his right, one ride receiver to his left.
Speaker 3 (54:41):
Greenfield hands it off and immediately dropped in the backfield.
Looked like number twenty four Sammy McDonald flying in there
for Meyers Park with the tackle.
Speaker 4 (54:55):
Yeah, that play though was made by Demaud Lewis, who
shed the offensive lineman forced to run back back inside.
He's had a really big disruptive first half for this
Myers Park defense.
Speaker 3 (55:06):
He has. And one thing that I've noticed so far
here today, we have not seen Rodney Dunham on the
field yet for Myers Park. Seen a lot of a
Mere McIntyre on the opposite edge. So that's something to
keep an eye on throughout the rest of the day.
As LJ.
Speaker 5 (55:22):
Porter takes to carry here.
Speaker 3 (55:25):
On second down and eleven, he'll get about two yards
and he'll be third down and nine upcoming for JM.
Speaker 4 (55:32):
Robinson. That's up an obvious passing down here. So not
the success they had on the last position. To being
able to run the football in between the tackles brings
of a big third down.
Speaker 5 (55:47):
And with third down and nine, it'll be.
Speaker 3 (55:53):
Greenfield in the shotgun with two wide receivers to both sides.
Speaker 5 (55:57):
LJ.
Speaker 3 (55:58):
Porter to his left side, now will move him to
his right. Greenfield takes the snap, drops back, Greenfield looks
throws nearly intercepted over the middle by Sammy McDonald.
Speaker 5 (56:13):
Boy, that was close right there.
Speaker 3 (56:14):
Myers Park nearly with a huge turnover in their own
in their own side of the field.
Speaker 5 (56:21):
Big drive for McDonald's.
Speaker 4 (56:22):
Had a nice play in the run game that one
nearly intercepted. Why was that Demaud Lewis was able to
get pressure on the quarterback force the errant throw and
a quick three and out for J. M. Robinson after
giving up a quick score on the previous drive.
Speaker 3 (56:37):
So Reese Zabo gonna have to come out and punt here.
Chazz Portis the dangerous Chaz Portis standing back deep for
Myers Park as the snap to Zabo and the punt
is away. Portis will fair catch that one and that's
(56:57):
back at about the forty two yard line. Had a
little bit of room there, but I think signaled pretty
early just to make sure that he wasn't gonna take
a big hit.
Speaker 4 (57:05):
Yeah, that was the best pun of the night though
for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 3 (57:15):
And so it will set Meyers Park up. They're actually
gonna market at the forty three yard line for the Mustangs,
who made quick work of their last drive thanks to
a big play from Ramir Watson and then Josh Valzarno
from twenty yards out, which has them back up by ten.
(57:38):
Here's Watson dropping back. Pressure coming, Watson able to escape
up the middle and we'll pick up a gain of
about three yards as Aiden Black bringing the pressure for JM. Robinson.
Speaker 4 (57:53):
Yeah, he was looking to load up and throw the
ball deep, had to pull it down and still is
able to gain three.
Speaker 3 (57:59):
Yards out of the So second down and seven for
Myers Park. Three wide receivers to Remier Watson's right along
with the back Falsarno Watson quick screen for Brody Keith.
Keith drops that one and it'll be third down and seven.
Speaker 4 (58:24):
What a great sidearm throw by Watson, just to get
that ball out. Nine times out of ten the Duke
commit would haul that one in that time he did not.
Speaker 3 (58:32):
Brings up third and seven. So third down and long
here for Myers Park. Still three wide receivers to the
bottom of a screen, and we've got a jam Robinson
player looked like number eleven Josh Tait.
Speaker 5 (58:43):
A little too eager there.
Speaker 3 (58:45):
He jumps off side and it's gonna go from third
and seven to third and two.
Speaker 4 (58:51):
I think he was eager because he was the guy
that was in on the last play that forced the
side arm throw. Want to maybe get a chance back
there to finish the job too. You gotta wait till
that ball snap, young man.
Speaker 5 (59:04):
Thank you for that, Papa Fitty.
Speaker 3 (59:08):
All right, So third down and two, Watson in the
pistol now with Falsarno behind him. Now he'll move Watson
over to his right side hand off Falsarno up the middle.
Falsarno with a big gainer, and he'll get that one
all the way down to about the Jam Robinson twenty
(59:31):
nine yard line. A gain of twenty for Falsarno on
a first down.
Speaker 4 (59:35):
I was gonna ask you maybe when they looked to
Brody keeps Away, who had press coverage down to the
right hand of the formation.
Speaker 5 (59:41):
But why throw the ball when Falsarno.
Speaker 4 (59:43):
Can run the way he's ran it the last three
times he touched the football.
Speaker 3 (59:46):
Watson drops back here on first down in the throw
incomplete and go a big hit there taking as well
as Cam Guy was the player that Watson was looking
for down the left sideline.
Speaker 5 (01:00:05):
Took a big hit on that play as well.
Speaker 4 (01:00:07):
First time we've got to sy Watson kind of stand
in the pocket with pressure coming right at him. That's
not as easy as he may look to to give
his wide receiver a chance to make a play. More importantly,
loved the toughest, took a big hit, got up ready
to play football all right.
Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
Second down and ten Watson drops back, now throws, has
a receiver. That ball is intercepted though. Telegraph the pass
and it's intercepted by Cameron Tucker, who had three interceptions
last season. He has this first of this year. And
that's a massive play for JM. Robinson, A big play.
Speaker 4 (01:00:43):
As we get closer, closer to the end of the
first half, that would have made it a three possession game.
Might have been too big of a depsode overcome for
this Jam Robinson offense. Cameron Tucker steps up, makes a
play on the football, comes down with the interception. I
thought it was a great job by Watson to avoid
the pressure and be able to make a throw down
the field, but did not say this sort of thing
that's why he did not get as much on that
(01:01:04):
ball as he wanted to.
Speaker 3 (01:01:05):
It was looking for Chaz Portis there who would come
open for a minute, but that window closed quickly thanks
to Cameron Tucker, and so now a first down and
ten from their own twenty yard line for JM. Robinson,
only a minute fifty three left to go here in
the first half of a sixteen to six ball game,
the first of two games here tonight at American Legion
(01:01:26):
Memorial Stadium as part of the Charlotte Kickoff Night. As
let's see sideline warning on JM. Robinson, I would guess
not exactly sure. They just said sideline warning on somebody.
Speaker 5 (01:01:48):
So no penalty.
Speaker 3 (01:01:49):
First down and ten, pitched to the motion man from Greenfield,
and the ball came out.
Speaker 5 (01:01:57):
Looks like Meyers Park has it.
Speaker 3 (01:02:01):
And right after creating the turnover, Myers Park creates one
of their own.
Speaker 5 (01:02:10):
Really deflating there for J. M. Robinson.
Speaker 4 (01:02:13):
You get the big turnover right before the half, you
have a chance to maybe get points right before the half,
and the big kicker there is you get the ball
to start the second half as well. All that gets
taken away with the fumble and now Myers Park back
in this is looking to make this a three possession game.
Speaker 3 (01:02:28):
Yeah. Really, the only thing that you were trying to
avoid there out of everything, turnover, especially in your own zone.
And now it'll be first down and ten from the
Jam Robinson twenty four Myers Park. Here's a handoff to Falzarno.
Falsarno with a nice run off the left side, and
that'll be a gain of about game of about nine
(01:02:52):
and it'll be second down and one for Myers Park.
Speaker 4 (01:02:56):
If Alzarno has emerged, I think the best offensive player
either side so far in this first half. Every time
he touches the ball, it's seven, eight, nine yards or more.
Speaker 3 (01:03:08):
So second down and one mere Watson moving some guys
around two tight ends in the set. Here for Watson
along with two wide receivers. Watson turns hands to Falzarno.
He'll get the ball out to about the nine yard
(01:03:30):
line and so it'll be first down and goal there
for Myers Park inside of minutes ago. Interesting that they're
continuing to run the ball as the clock ticks. Forty
seconds now remaining in the first half. Here's Watson. He'll
throw a lot ball to the end zone. Keith stabs
(01:03:52):
it over the defender for a touchdown. What a play
by Brody Keith going up and ding the football of
fifty to fifty ball and he comes down with it,
and with thirty three point three seconds to go in
the first half, it is twenty two to six Myers Park.
Speaker 4 (01:04:10):
He makes up for that drop two possessions ago on
that tunnel screen that had big play written all over it.
Speaker 5 (01:04:16):
That was just a mismatch.
Speaker 4 (01:04:17):
That quarter had no chance to make a play in
that jump ball situation.
Speaker 5 (01:04:21):
And the Duke commit finds the end zone.
Speaker 3 (01:04:25):
Great play over Nahem Snipe, who was the corner in
coverage there. Here's James Remsen on and that one is
good after he missed his last extra point, and so
twenty three to six here in the first game of
the Charlotte Kickoff Night powered by Ortho Carolina on Sports

Speaker 3 (01:06:34):
Touchdown that has the ball on the forty five yard
line of JM. Robinson for this kickoff. So this will
just be target practice for James Remsen, you would imagine,
and for some reason, referees still delaying play here for
a moment twenty three to six Myers Park here with
(01:07:03):
thirty three point three seconds to go in the first half.
As Remsen will send this one deep and as expected
that one will go out of the back of the
end zone, bring the ball out to the twenty yard line.
Speaker 5 (01:07:22):
Do you, if you're JM.
Speaker 3 (01:07:23):
Robinson, do you even dare to try to be aggressive here?
Speaker 5 (01:07:28):
I'm running the ball.
Speaker 4 (01:07:29):
I'm getting the halftime where i can get in there
and regroup.
Speaker 3 (01:07:36):
Been a tough first half for JM. Robinson, not only
the score of the game, but lost and his styles,
member of their backfield and their linebacking corps. In the
first half.
Speaker 4 (01:07:49):
A lot of pre stout penalties, I've really derailed a
lot of early drives.
Speaker 3 (01:07:54):
Yeah, I mean their offense has been able to move
the ball at certain times during this game, but it
just hasn't been consistent enough, and I think that's why
they find themselves where they do. First down and ten
from the twenty yard line as Greenfield will give off
to Porter and LJ. Porter gets back to the line
of scrimmage and with that, that should be the first
(01:08:17):
half of play. Here from the first game of the
Charlotte Kickoff Night powered by Ortho Carolina. As Yeah, Jam
Robinson just content with taking it to the half. Jason

Speaker 3 (01:12:23):
Sports Radio ninety two seven w f n Z live
from Charlotte Kickoff Night powered by Ortho Carolina, And we
are at halftime of the first game between Myers Park
and JM. Robinson, Myers Park with a twenty three to
six lead over JM. Robinson. And the second game on
(01:12:43):
tap Tonight Olympic and Butler. You will hear Kyle Bailey
and myself calling that game later on this evening. But
we got to look back at that first half, pretty
successful one for Myers Park. They scored ten points in
the first quarter, thirteen in the second quarter, and really
just all around. Yeah, you had the big play to
begin the night on special teams from Chasportis, but after
(01:13:05):
that the offense really getting in a little bit of
a rhythm there towards the end of the half.
Speaker 4 (01:13:09):
And you mentioned those thirteen points in the second quarter
are all coming in the last six twenty two of
the first half, after that long JM. Robinson touchdown drive
that took of you know, the end of the first
quarter and half of the second quarter.
Speaker 5 (01:13:22):
But as you talked about the big play ability.
Speaker 4 (01:13:24):
The explosive nature of this Myers Park football team really
showed up there in the finals six minutes or so
of the first half, and it was really established by
Josh Valzarno on the running game, being able to said
what they want to do in the passing game, which
we'll have this Jam Robinson at the defense on their heels.
So it was very evident the who the better team
(01:13:45):
was in the first half. Myers Park first play of
scrimmage that took the ball the way back to the
end zone for a touchdown.
Speaker 5 (01:13:50):
That set the tone for them in that first half.
Speaker 3 (01:13:51):
Yeah, and Falsarno, I think if we look here, I
mean there have been a lot of guys that have
been playing well on the offensive side of the ball
for Myers Park chas Ports. Maybe you like what he's
done on special teams, but I would say Falzarno after
that first half probably the player of the game so far.
He's just been that effective when he's had the football.
Speaker 5 (01:14:10):
Well, whenever he.
Speaker 4 (01:14:11):
Gets the football, it's him getting to the second level
before he's getting a hand on it or someone's getting
a hand on him. You know, multiple runs in the
last two drives where it was nine yards where he
was even getting touch So a great job by that
Myers Park offensive line just giving him running lanes to
run through. And yeah, right now, if you had to
give up your MVP Player the Game award, he'd be
the leading candidate because he was, in my opinion, the
(01:14:32):
best player on the field in the first half. That
includes Broden Keith, who caught a touchdown right before halftime.
Speaker 3 (01:14:37):
Yeah, I was gonna ask you, what do you think
about the Duke commits so far? I know he had
the one drop on the tunnel screen, but he's had
two pretty amazing catches, one that was unfortunately taken off
the board, but he's looked pretty good, especially when it
comes to those fifty to fifty balls.
Speaker 4 (01:14:52):
You can see why he's going to play at the
Power Conference level up the.
Speaker 5 (01:14:55):
Road in Durham.
Speaker 4 (01:14:56):
From any dis in the Duke Blue Devils, you really
like his side. I think he'll be a mismatch problem
obviously in this game, in a lot of games moving
forward here the rest of the season, because he has
the ability to go up high point in the football
and go make a play, and that's the best friend
for a quarterback, especially in the redsund As you saw
in that touchdown right before the end of the first
(01:15:16):
half where they just threw him the ball and said
you go make a play and he was able to
go do that. So he's been very much the player
we thought he was going to be coming into this
ball game.
Speaker 5 (01:15:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:15:25):
I certainly believe that he is one of the more
talented guys out there on the field that we're gonna
see here tonight across the board. Might be the most
talented player that we see on the field tonight, and
he certainly looked like that in the first half. Now,
if you're JM. Robinson, I mean, where are you going
here in this second half? Because you are a team
that likes to run the ball a lot, but you're
(01:15:47):
down by seventeen right now. I don't mean to say
that there needs to be too much level of urgency
where you get out of what you are most successful
in doing, but it really feels like in the second
half we're going to see lot of Ari Greenfield dropping
back and throwing the ball.
Speaker 4 (01:16:02):
I don't know if there's enough possessions, but the way
that they want to play football on the offensive side
for them to come back and really get back into.
Speaker 5 (01:16:08):
This ball game.
Speaker 4 (01:16:09):
That's why the turnover after you got the interception in
the end zone was a was such a killer.
Speaker 5 (01:16:14):
Because you go down.
Speaker 4 (01:16:15):
Sixteen to six, everything is still in play for you
in the second half, right, you can still run the ball,
you can still control.
Speaker 5 (01:16:22):
The clock the way you want to, because they want to.
Speaker 4 (01:16:23):
I think shortened possessions were given the explosive nature of
Meyers Park.
Speaker 5 (01:16:28):
Now you really cannot do that.
Speaker 4 (01:16:30):
So this could be a really big drive here coming
out of the second half that they go down get
points on the board in a timely manner to ensure
they can get the ball back enough to put enough.
Speaker 5 (01:16:39):
Points on the board. Ben stink close in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:16:41):
Yeah, you absolutely have to come out, I think and
set the tone here. If you're JM. Robinson and we've
seen at moments that you know Greenfield is able to
throw the ball and throw the ball successfully. Doesn't have
nearly the dynamic wide receivers that we see on the
other side for Myers Park, but I think that certainly
has to be the folk focus for Jason Sidel and
(01:17:01):
his group right now. The good news for this JM.
Robinson team is this is probably the toughest game that
you're gonna play all year, being in the four A
five A classification. Of course, if anybody's confused, there are
now eight classifications in the state of North Carolina, so
you will have eight state champions that will be handed
(01:17:23):
out at the end of the regular set or at
the end of the season rather going back to eight champions.
And so if you're JM. Robinson, this is one of
those tests that hopefully because you're playing this game, it
can come back to help you later in the season
when you get to the postseason.
Speaker 4 (01:17:38):
Yes, kind of what you see maybe in college football,
where you play a big game out of the gate
to really test you for once you get into your
conference season. And for this is a program that it
hasn't been the regular season that's been the bugaboos when
they've gotten to the state playoffs, not being able to
come home with the state championship, as you mentioned, forty
four and six over the last four years, twelve and
(01:17:59):
one in the last two years exclusively.
Speaker 5 (01:18:01):
So this could be a game that'll.
Speaker 4 (01:18:04):
Prepare them down the road when they play their conference season,
but when they get into those state playoffs with they
hope they go deeper.
Speaker 5 (01:18:09):
Than they have in years past. Yeah, what about Meyers Park.
Speaker 3 (01:18:11):
I mean what we've seen from them in the first half,
coming off of four and six season last year, this
was a team that it's still had so much talent
a year ago, but now they're looking to take that
next step under Chris James. It's been, you know, really
weird at Meyers Park since Scott Chadwick was there. So
many different coaches have rolled into that program. They're no
longer the program that they were under Drake May. But
(01:18:35):
I think this is a team that if you if
they have the offensive firepower that they showed in this
first half and can hit some of those explosive plays,
there's a good chance they're going to compete in this
conference this year against a team like huff.
Speaker 4 (01:18:47):
There's too much pride within that program, too much talent
in that program to be four and six back to
back years. So you know, this is a team, this
is a coaching staff that's motivated to get them back
where they were, as you mentioned when Drake May as
a quarterback and they were competing at the highest level
year in, year round, and obviously a long way to go.
As we just got the season started this weekend. But
(01:19:09):
they've got I think the offensive firepower to be a
problem every time they walk on the field every Friday night,
because they've got Division one caliber talent on an offensive
side of the ball that think were able to move
the ball, put points up, gain a lot of yards,
and then defensively, a guy like Demaud Lewis single handedly
could be a guy that could really put them in
position to compete for maybe a conference championship and maybe
(01:19:31):
go deep into the state playoffs.
Speaker 5 (01:19:32):
So it's really cool when they're good because.
Speaker 4 (01:19:35):
There's a passionate fan base in the Charlotte area have
been able to see that in the past couple of years.
But if Myers Park is back, that's a good thing
for football in this area.
Speaker 3 (01:19:43):
Yeah, it certainly is. And I think with what we
saw from Huff last night, now again very stout defense
on the other side for South Point, but certainly not
the most dynamic offense that's Huff has had over the
last few years. I think they're still looking for some
playmakers to emerge outside of Tyron Evans, and so I
think that is going to be one of the better
(01:20:04):
competitions in the Mecklenburg County area for A conference championship
this year in the Greater As Charlotte Athletics seven A
and eight A Conference, of course, huff Myers Parks, South Mecklenburg, Hopewell,
westmech and Garringer Garringer, by the way, last night, how
(01:20:24):
about this, They ended a streak of forty eight consecutive losses.
They had not won since twenty nineteen, and last night
took down Winston Salem Prep in their first game under
new head coach Jupiter Wilson. What an amazing moment for
those kids when you haven't won in almost six years.
Speaker 5 (01:20:42):
That had to feel really good.
Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:20:44):
I'm friends with coach Wilson on Facebook and I've seen
some of the post he's put up on social media
this year, just talking about changing the culture, changing the environment.
You do that by winning most importantly. Yeah, you want
to have a culture of a family environment. But the
best way to do that is to win, and to
come out in your first game in that long lose
the streak. You gotta feel good for those kids that alumna,
(01:21:08):
that fan base because I've seen a lot of losing
over the last five or six years.
Speaker 3 (01:21:11):
Yeah, it could not have been more happy to see
that last night. This is the Ortho Carolina halftime report.
We'll come back right after this here on Sports Radio

You're listening to a Charlotte Kickoff Night on Sports Radio
ninety two point seven Z.
Speaker 3 (01:23:55):
Welcome back to Charlotte Kickoff Night, power by Ortho Carolina.
Here live from a American Legion Memorial Stadium, a doubleheader
as it always is in Myers Park. With a twenty
three to six lead over JM. Robinson in the first
game of the doubleheader, Olympic and Butler still on the
way for you guys later on this evening. I'll be
talking about that one with Kyle Bailey here in a
(01:24:17):
little bit after this game is over. But this one
currently strongly in the hands of Myers Park. We'll see
if JM. Robinson is able to take back some of
the momentum here in half number two. High School Football
on Sports Radio ninety two seven WFNZ is brought to
you by Victory Chevrolet, where new Silverados are discounted every
(01:24:38):
day Victory Chevrolet dot Com and so they have reset
the clock to three minutes here, giving these kids a
little bit of time to warm up here. So we
sort of talked about it. Let's, you know, talk about
for Myers Park quarterback Ramir Watson, what did you think
(01:25:02):
of him in the first half, because I think both
quarterbacks really had their moments in half. Number one through
the interception there late in the first half, But I
thought for the most part was able to command this
offense and drop them down the field when they needed
him to.
Speaker 4 (01:25:15):
Yeah, that was really the only mistake I thought that
he made in that first half. I thought he was
really cool, calm and collected. And when they got into
their two minute offense after they got the fumble right
before the end of the first half on that touchdown
pass to Brody keiev they'd never seen that they were
out of sources knew, Hey, we know what.
Speaker 5 (01:25:32):
The time is.
Speaker 4 (01:25:33):
He knew time down distance. That's a real big thing
lee at this level, how do you manage those game in,
game out situations. And so I thought he's made the
right decisions when to maybe to pull the ball down
and run, when to handoff when they've been in readoption
situations as well, So I thought he was in control
of that Myers Park offense, the one.
Speaker 3 (01:25:55):
Of the storyline. Excuse me that we were watching there
in the first half. No Rodney Dunham, it appears here
tonight for Myers Park. The Notre Dame commit certainly a
guy that they're gonna hope to get back out there
soon because he has a chance to be very impactful
alongside of Demaud Lewis, could form one of the best defensive.
Speaker 5 (01:26:12):
Lines in all of Charlotte.
Speaker 3 (01:26:15):
So hopefully he will be able to get back out
there here in the near future for Myers Park. But
that first half really a play of a group of
explosive plays from Myers Park, one long drive from jam Robinson,
and now we'll see what we will have here in
(01:26:35):
half number two. Is Myers Park continuing to get themselves warm.
On the sidelines, Jam Robinson looks ready to go over
here on the sideline closest to us.
Speaker 4 (01:26:46):
Yeah, they were running some drills, doing some high knees,
trying to come out and really put together a better
showing here in the second half, trying to make this
a ball game. I was just gonna say, man, I
know you feel the same way being involved last night
with a keap Pounding Classic there thank of a mayor
a stadium. Of course, we had a week zero in
college football get started overseas in Dublin, Ireland.
Speaker 3 (01:27:06):
Say it, say say what the name of the game is.
Speaker 5 (01:27:08):
I know you want to say, ol Farmageddon. There we goes.
Speaker 4 (01:27:11):
It just feels good to have football back, man, It
just feels good to be back in the stadium watching football.
Speaker 5 (01:27:18):
Was at the high school level.
Speaker 4 (01:27:19):
Next weekend, we'll be at the college two weeks away
from the NFL. But it just feels good to have
football back. Beautiful weather tonight. It's not too hot. Yeah,
it hasn't rained just yet, knock on wood. So it's
been a real great first two days of the high
school football season here in Charlotte. And I'm just excited
to be alongside the alongside you tonight for the ride
(01:27:39):
before Kyle.
Speaker 5 (01:27:40):
Bailey comes in here and kicks me out.
Speaker 3 (01:27:42):
Yeah, it's been a lot of fun so far. And
you mentioned it, you know. We just want to thank
everybody at the Keep Pounding Classic for having us out
there last night. Of course, the folks here at the
Ortho Carolina kickoff night for having us out here as well.
You know, this has become a tradition for us every
single year and it's a great event that they put
on here in American Legion Memorial Stadium, and it's been
(01:28:04):
so successful over the years.
Speaker 5 (01:28:05):
I mean, you remember we came here.
Speaker 3 (01:28:07):
You know, even before we were at the station, watched
Diami Brown when he was a young player for wes
Mech when they used to have three games in one
day back when before the renovation of the old stadium.
So it's an amazing event. As James Remsen will kick
us off here in the second half, this one will
sail short of the end zone and has to be
(01:28:28):
caught at the five yard line, and that one short
of shocked jam Robinson there. They thought it was gonna
go deep, but a smart play by James Remsen making
them actually return the kick there. Looked like it was
Cameron Tucker number nine who got underneath that one and
brought it back out to the twenty yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:28:46):
Kind of makes you wonder if that was done on purpose,
just so Meyers Park can can kind of see what
they got on special teams. Look at the film because
we've seen his leg here in the first f he
had no problem putting the ball from the back of
the end zone.
Speaker 3 (01:28:57):
Well, the other thing is, you wonder if that's a
play to try to see if whether or not they
could catch him off guard. Maybe get the ball long
long version of an on side kick there from Myers Park.
And so it'll be first down and ten from the
twenty yard line for JM.
Speaker 5 (01:29:12):
Robinson, LJ. Porter, the running back.
Speaker 3 (01:29:16):
To the left off quarterback Ari Greenfield. He's got three
wide receivers to his left, one to his right. Greenfield
takes the snap, rolls to his left. Now Greenfield looking
like he's gonna keep it and scatter around that left
corner for about five yards. It'll be second down and five.
(01:29:37):
There not a bad start to the drive for Greenfield.
Speaker 4 (01:29:40):
No, I've really liked what he's done in the mobile pocket.
It feels like he extends to play as long as
he can and there's nothing there to throw, just pulls
up down and runs. And it feels like every time
he's gotten three, four or five yards.
Speaker 3 (01:29:52):
So second down and five. As he takes the snap,
gets it out quickly to his receiver ant Tonio Howie Man.
He'll take that up to the twenty nine yard line,
a gain of four. It'll be third down and one
coming up here for JM. Robinson.
Speaker 4 (01:30:10):
A good job by London McElroy there on the outside
to make the one block to get how we open
and now that's that's up third and short.
Speaker 3 (01:30:17):
So third down and one. Greenfield takes the snap and
he'll keep it and he will be knocked down short
of the lines. Again, looks like number forty four, Hank
Thrasher the linebacker and number fifty five, but Cory se
say getting in there for meyers Park to make the stop.
Speaker 4 (01:30:39):
A great play by Thrasher. Dare I say, thrashing through
the line of scrimmage to be able to pull down
the quarterback there to stop him.
Speaker 5 (01:30:47):
From gaining that first down.
Speaker 4 (01:30:48):
And it feels like down twenty three to six, you
got to go forward, and that's what jam Robinson's lined
up to do.
Speaker 3 (01:30:54):
And it's fourth down and one, so that's probably the
other part of the reason is under center and unable
to get the first down as Greenfield he tried to
stretch the ball forward but can't do it. And guess
who shows up yet again It is demud Lewis who
has been there the entire night for Meyers Park.
Speaker 4 (01:31:13):
A great play by Demaud Lewis. I don't understand that
play call. I understand why you have to go for it,
but I would have much rather have seen you line
them up in the backfield, maybe go five, watch spread
that defense out and his quarterback run him that way.
Everyone knew what that play call was, and that's why
I was so easy to get stuffed out.
Speaker 3 (01:31:30):
Yeah, and especially with a shorter quarterback there not the
most physically imposing quarterback is ari A Greenfield, so he
wasn't able to really stretch that ball out the way
if you had a taller quarterback you'd be able to do.
And so it's now first down and ten from the
twenty nine yard line of JM. Robinson for meyers Park.
(01:31:50):
A chance to start putting this game away. As Watson
takes the staff throws it and that one complete out
in the flat landing Moss the tight end, he'll pick
up eleven yards and he's got a first down as
he gets down to the eighteen yard line of Jam Robbins.
Speaker 4 (01:32:11):
They've done a really good job in their short, quick
passing game, just getting the ball out quickly. But where
there's a lot of green grass in front of them
for their guys to just be able to get downhill,
get and pick up positive yardage.
Speaker 3 (01:32:25):
First down and ten. In the pistol, Watson turns in
hands to Josh Vlzarno and he'll pick up about two yards.
It'll be second down and eight. Feels like this is
Brody Keith time.
Speaker 4 (01:32:43):
That time he was lined up stacked to the left
side of the formation.
Speaker 5 (01:32:46):
That was a run play.
Speaker 4 (01:32:50):
You gotta imagine they'll try to isolate him on either
side of the ball and try to throw a.
Speaker 5 (01:32:54):
Jump ball in the back of the end zone.
Speaker 3 (01:32:58):
Second down and eight as Ramre Watson moves Josh Falzarno
behind him in the pistol and flags flying everywhere before
the snap, and so a.
Speaker 5 (01:33:16):
False start on Connor.
Speaker 3 (01:33:21):
Molalley, a veteran member of that offensive line, the junior,
and that'll back him up. It'll be third down or
second down and thirteen. As Watson comes out, Falsarno to
his right and Watson tuson runs under pressure. Watson stays
(01:33:47):
in bounds, takes a big hit and loses his slid,
but he'll get out to get down to about the
thirteen yard line, and we've got another JM. Robinson player
that is down on the field. Looks like it might
(01:34:07):
be number thirty four, de Monte Barr the defensive back,
this time for JM. Robinson. And with this break gives
me time to tell you that we want to thank
(01:34:27):
our high school football sponsor, Victory Chevrolet. Brandon Gandhy and
his team are ready to serve you when it comes
to your vehicle needs new Chevrolet's quality, pre owned or
award winning service. You can count on them when you
visit Victory Chevrolet Victory Chevrolet dot com. As they are
(01:34:49):
still tending to bar on the field. Now they've helped
him up to his feet. Looks like he's just dealing
with a cramp. Hopefully you mentioned it not not a
super hot night, but we've still seen a few cramps
here on the Jam Robinson sideline so far early on
in this game.
Speaker 4 (01:35:06):
Yeah, we always talk about getting into football shape, and
the best way to get into football shape is to
play football. So this is something you'll probably see the
first few weeks of the season, but hopefully it kind
of gets cleared up as we move along, because you know,
we've been blessed with great weather here in the Carolina's
in Charlotte this summer because it's not as hot as
it usually is.
Speaker 3 (01:35:27):
That is certainly the case. So a third down and
five coming up here for Myers Park from the thirteen
yard line of Jam Robinson need to get to the
eight to pick up the first down. Looks like a
quarterback change here for Myers Park. Ryan Rizzuti is in
(01:35:52):
the game for Myers Park. Is the handoff to Josh Falzarno,
and that one will go for about two yards up
to the eleven yard line. Of course he had to
be in there after the helmet came off for Ramir Watson.
That was the reason why they are Even with the
(01:36:13):
stoppage on the field, you still have to keep him
on the sidelines for that one place where Rizzuti comes in.
One play they run it now. It sets up four
down in about three here four Myers Park, and.
Speaker 4 (01:36:24):
It feels like, you know, you kind of have the
full playbook at your disposal.
Speaker 5 (01:36:27):
You can run it with Watson, you can run it
with Falzarno.
Speaker 4 (01:36:30):
You could throw it to Brody Keith if you wanted
to a big play though for Jam Robinson, they have
any hopes of staying in this ball game.
Speaker 3 (01:36:36):
Watson takes the snap, drops back, quarterback draw and he
tries to take off and is dropped. Looks like he's
gonna be dropped for a loss of one, and so
jam Robinson will take over. A huge stop there for
(01:36:58):
the Bulldogs and now a chance to get the with
eight three left to go in the third quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:37:04):
Yeah, that was a great job by that defense after
that quick change, being able to step up and make
a play to keep them in it.
Speaker 5 (01:37:10):
Watson was able to elude the initial rush.
Speaker 4 (01:37:13):
I thought maybe he's able to tuck it down and
pick up the first down or maybe even score. But
great pursuit by the Bulldogs, and I let that happen.
As we said here, with eight minutes to go in
the third quarter, this game is not over yet.
Speaker 7 (01:37:24):
All right.
Speaker 3 (01:37:25):
So first down and ten from about the thirteen yard line,
their own thirteen yard line is Greenfield comes out, drops
back throws that one is intercepted and picked off. It'll
go for a pick six. Hank Thrasher the linebacker watching
(01:37:47):
the odds of the quarterback, and what has already been
a great day for Hank Thrasher turns into an even
better one as he's got a pick six and Meyers
park fully in control. Now up twenty nine to six
with seven fifty eight to go in the third quarter. Yeah,
that feels like a backbreaker if you're Jay and Robinson,
(01:38:08):
whether you're.
Speaker 5 (01:38:09):
A player, a coach, or a fan in the stands.
Speaker 4 (01:38:12):
I don't know if the equiped to come back from
was about to be a twenty four point deficit with
just under twenty mus left to go in this ball game.
Speaker 3 (01:38:21):
As James Remsen lined up for the extra point, that
kick is up and it is good, and so now
a twenty four point deficit for JM. Robinson, who really
just feels to be outmatched in this game. We see
some talking now after the play, and if you're Jason Sidel,
(01:38:42):
you just want to be telling your guys, look, let's
settle down. This game's not going our way, but we
don't need to lose anybody for any of the other
games moving forward.
Speaker 4 (01:38:49):
Yeah, you're gonna learn a lot about your team here
in the second half.
Speaker 5 (01:38:53):
Adversity has hit.
Speaker 4 (01:38:54):
It does not take long for them to get this
season underway. Before that, before that adversity came, you start
the season off off with the kickoff return for a touchdown.
You throw a pick six early in the second half,
and now it's all about you know, competitive culture, with
with with competing with character and maybe you can find
some things here on the second half that'll carry over
and the next week and.
Speaker 5 (01:39:14):
The rest of the season.
Speaker 3 (01:39:18):
So Remsen getting it lined up, getting ready to send
this one deep. Let's see if he's going to try
to get them to return it again like he did
at the start of the half here. And we mentioned J. M.
Robinson A four A or in the four A five
(01:39:38):
A conference that they're in expected to win that conference
this year. They with the likes of Northwest Cabaris, Concord,
West Roenn, Saulisbury, Carson, South Row Anne and East Roan,
they are heavily favored to win that conference this year.
Is this kick will go into the end zone for
a touchback. And so while this game may not be
(01:40:00):
going their way, this is certainly a squad that should
be able to recollect and find their way through the
rest of the season.
Speaker 5 (01:40:06):
I mean LJ.
Speaker 3 (01:40:07):
Watson, according to the Charlotte Observer, listed as the preseason
offensive player of the Year for the county. Cameron Tucker
listed as the preseason defensive player.
Speaker 5 (01:40:17):
Of the Year for the county.
Speaker 3 (01:40:18):
So still expecting to have a big year even though
this one isn't going there.
Speaker 4 (01:40:22):
Well, yeah, there's plenty of talent on both sides of
the ball that's used to winning and winning a lot
of football games. That may not be the case tonight,
but the program that coach tide elis built over there.
They were not overreactive, though this has not been the
way they wanted to get their season started.
Speaker 3 (01:40:38):
Or a Greenfield back on the field here, he'll hand
to LJ. Porter and this one goes off the right
side for a gain of about three. It'll be second
down and seven.
Speaker 5 (01:40:54):
Come in off that pick six.
Speaker 4 (01:40:55):
It does make you wonder will they just stick to
what they're good at, which is running the football.
Speaker 3 (01:41:03):
Maybe just try to build some momentum.
Speaker 4 (01:41:05):
Get some confidence back into your guys up front, back
into your quarterback in this run game.
Speaker 3 (01:41:11):
This green Field, we'll keep it on the read option here,
and he's taken down, thrown down to the ground there
by Demetrius Martin for Myers Park, but able to scamper
ount and pick up a first down on a gain
of eight there out to the thirty one yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:41:30):
He had multiple options there on that RPO because he
took it and ran it, but he had CJ. Wattie
out there on the perimeter where he could have thrown
the football too as well.
Speaker 5 (01:41:38):
So in nice nice played there for.
Speaker 3 (01:41:40):
Jam Robinson second down and were first down and ten
excuse me, that one completed over to the sideline.
Speaker 5 (01:41:50):
CJ.
Speaker 3 (01:41:50):
Watty who you just mentioned right there, he'll pick up
about two yards on the short completion. Camden portis with
the big hit on the play, and it'll be second
down to eight six point fifty four to go here
in the third quarter for JM. Robinson looking to put
(01:42:14):
together a drive, try to get some positive momentum going.
Is Greenfield keeps that one throws and that ball is
he was out of bounds. I don't know if they so.
Are they gonna call it complete or are they gonna
say incomplete because he was standing out of bounds and
they are gonna say a completed pass. It'll be a
gain of one for CJ. Wattie.
Speaker 5 (01:42:36):
And so it'll be third down and seven three.
Speaker 4 (01:42:39):
Straight players where they've ran that RPO action where you
could hand it off, the quarterback can run it, or
you can throw it there to the perimeter.
Speaker 3 (01:42:47):
Third and seven, so third down and seven on a
guy to have a drive for JM. Robinson. Greenfield drops
back throws incomplete intended for number twelve Jackson Kemp and
Camden Portis the Miami commit locking down that play right there.
(01:43:12):
Looked like he might have arrived just a second early,
but they did not throw the flag on that one.
Speaker 4 (01:43:18):
It was looking for Jackson Kemp, but I thought he
had London McElroy open on the other side of the field. Nonetheless,
up to pump the football away and now Meyers Park
can really put their fingerprints on this one.
Speaker 3 (01:43:36):
Choosing to punt it away with six forty three to
go in the third quarter, down by twenty four would
seem to tell you as Zabo gets this one away
and a good job there. I one did come close
to hitting Orlando Brown the upman, but it'll roll down
(01:43:56):
to the twenty eight yard line and it'll be first
down in ten for Myers Park. Here from the Charlotte
Kickoff Night powered by Ortho Carolina, you're listening live here
on Sports Radio ninety two seven WFNZ. As the Mustangs
come back out and still Ramir Watson at quarterback was
(01:44:21):
waiting to see whether or not they would make that change.
But a little bit too early here, I guess for
Chris James's group as he hands it off up the middle. No,
he Kipton himself fooled me up here in the booth
and Watson has dropped. Maybe should have handed that one
off there as he has dropped for a loss of
(01:44:42):
about two yards, and it'll be second down and twelve.
So second and twelve, Ramire Watson in the pistol and
(01:45:03):
hard count gets jam Robinson to jump off side, and
so it'll go from second to twelve to second and seven.
Speaker 5 (01:45:11):
Of all the things that's gone wrong for j. M.
Speaker 4 (01:45:13):
Robinson, and I think the most frustrating thing that Jason
sidel has to be what this team has got to
be all the pre snap penalties that's now six pre
snap penalties so far in this game.
Speaker 3 (01:45:27):
Those are mental errors, stuff that has to get cleaned
up as they go throughout the season. Second down and seven,
as Watson looks to the sideline, gets the play call
and now adjusting Falzarno to his left. As Watson drops back,
(01:45:49):
throws at the ball, tipped and caught by one of
his offensive linemen who goes rumbling number seventy five Penkrver
on the reception there and there is a flag that
is down.
Speaker 4 (01:46:03):
There's a flag on the far side of the field.
Speaker 3 (01:46:15):
Carver with a gain of about five that ball stay.
Speaker 4 (01:46:21):
Does ineligible receiver downfield still come in play?
Speaker 3 (01:46:24):
I don't think so.
Speaker 5 (01:46:26):
And they picked the flag up.
Speaker 3 (01:46:27):
No flag. I think they were looking at a possible
illegal touching or something like that. Yeah, that's I think
what they were looking for there. And because the ball
was tipped, you bar allowed to catch it as an
offensive line and that's the one time you can catch
your quarterbacks pass.
Speaker 4 (01:46:43):
Second time they've run that tunnel screen action trying to
get the ball to Brody Keith.
Speaker 5 (01:46:47):
The first time he dropped it.
Speaker 4 (01:46:48):
The second time that one gets deflected up in the air,
but one of the big uglies there to come down
with it and turn it into a positive play.
Speaker 3 (01:46:55):
So third down and one, so it was about a
six yard gain for Carver. Is the handoff two, he'll
break free Josh Valzaro off to the open off in
the open field and he is gone for a touchdown.
(01:47:15):
A gain of about sixty three yards there for Josh Valzarno,
as he found a hole in the middle of that
defensive line for JM. Robinson. We have a flag on
the field, but that is going to be for taunting.
It looks like on chas Portis as he was taunting
the Jam Robinson sideline after that latest touchdown.
Speaker 4 (01:47:39):
Yeah, Farzano able to get into the second level all
all the way to the end zone. I thought maybe
the motion man in the backfield maybe got the Jay
and Bromison defense his eyes in the wrong spot. Nonetheless,
if he hadn't already won the MVP of War for
tonight's game, that play, right, that'll wrap it up.
Speaker 3 (01:47:58):
So after the players over unsportsmanlike conduct being called, that
will be assessed on the kick. I think it will
be assessed on the extra point, is what he was
saying right there, or no, excuse me, it'll be on
the kickoff.
Speaker 4 (01:48:16):
We saw the NFL earlier this week talk about wanting
to crack down on on sportsmanlike conduct penalties. Where do
you stand on that having a role or a place
in the game.
Speaker 3 (01:48:26):
Kick by James Remsen up and good. I mean, look,
I think there is a level to it. I mean, yes,
of course, you're going to have moments where you're you're
gonna want to celebrate, but you can't be taunting the
other team. Not like that. And I think especially at
the high school level, where guys are gonna get emotional,
it makes sense why they're doing that. We'll take a
quick break here on the Charlotte Kickoff night Power by
(01:48:48):
Orto Carolina. You're listening live on sports Radio ninety two
seven WFNZ.
Speaker 14 (01:48:53):
Summer in Charlotte, and will Rhinoshield do your business?
Speaker 3 (01:48:56):
Just ask?
Speaker 17 (01:48:57):
Mike was watching TV one night and the Rhinos Shield
add and I thought, well, if they can do a house,
they can probably do a building.
Speaker 3 (01:49:04):
And Rhino Shield's not paint, it's better.
Speaker 17 (01:49:07):
So they came out and they gave me a price,
showed me how the rhino works, how it lasts, and
how a guarantee works.
Speaker 14 (01:49:13):
Own a business, you too can get the guaranteed protection
of Rhinoshield for ten percent off the regular price.
Speaker 17 (01:49:19):
They waited for us to leave, and they worked Saturday
and Sunday so they wouldn't affect our business at all.
This was the great part of it. I came back
Sunday night and you couldn't even tell they were here.
There was no paint on the ground. They did a
fantastic job.
Speaker 14 (01:49:32):
Here's owner Dan Hos.
Speaker 12 (01:49:33):
The sofaer is limited, so call us today at seven
O four five nine seven forty one forty one or

Speaker 3 (01:49:43):
Don't paint, don't Vinyl, go go Rhino, don't Finyl, go
Rhino shield. Never paint your house.
Speaker 13 (01:49:50):
Suck in rhine, no shield, no matter if you're an
injury prone weekend warrior or a parent of a child
needing orthopedic care. When things look bad, choose better from
your first appointment to your full recovery. We're there every
step of the way. Orthough Carolina.
Speaker 3 (01:50:14):
Kick off by James Remsen and that ball is picked
up and because the receiver fell to the ground, the
returner fell to the ground. There Nahim snipe. The ball
will be located at the twelve yard line, so a
chance for a big return there for jam Robinson and
(01:50:34):
just nothing at this point seems to be going right
for them.
Speaker 4 (01:50:37):
Yeah, another mistake, another issue there on special teams backs
them up even further. But the last time they had
the ball backed up and closer to their own end zone,
they were able to drive the link of the field
and score a touchdown.
Speaker 5 (01:50:50):
So maybe they know something that we don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:50:56):
First down and ten from the twelve yard line for
this JM. Robinson offense, which again is just looking for
some sort of positives at this point, with you down
by thirty one, I think you're right. You just run
your offense, try to gain a little bit of momentum
for next week and the week's the week's beyond that.
(01:51:20):
It is Greenfield back in the shotgun. He'll turn in
hand to LJ. Porter. Porter breaks free. LJ. Porter into
the secondary and he'll get.
Speaker 23 (01:51:30):
Up to.
Speaker 3 (01:51:33):
About the thirty five yard line. You'll see exactly where
they spot it. It's going to be the thirty three
and so a gain of twenty one there for LJ. Porter.
Speaker 4 (01:51:45):
A great run there sets them up first and ten.
He's had a couple of good runs on that right
side of the offensive line.
Speaker 3 (01:51:55):
Porter again, the preseason player of the year in the
county according to Charlotte Observer is this throw by Greenfield
is incomplete, hard passed to Tyson van Dijke, that went
off his hands. Incomplete.
Speaker 5 (01:52:10):
Yeah, just a little too high there.
Speaker 4 (01:52:12):
Never really planted his back foot to step into the
throw throw it off his back foot that caused the
Aaron misque.
Speaker 3 (01:52:18):
So second down and ten now for JM. Robinson. You're
running back in the game to the left side of
quarterback Ari Greenfield. Greenfield takes the snap, rolls to his left,
(01:52:40):
throws that one complete in the flat and now a
good job after the catch there by C. J. Wattie
as he picks up twelve yards there and it'll be
a first down for JM. Robinson.
Speaker 4 (01:53:00):
And a great job cutting that ball back into the
middle of the field because he caught it about as
far to the boundary as you could.
Speaker 5 (01:53:06):
Took a big hit, but got another first down.
Speaker 3 (01:53:10):
First down and ten hand off up the middle and
gain of about three there. Miller looks like Maurice Miller
has checked in at running back for JM. Robinson. So
trying to get some of the younger players out here
(01:53:32):
on the field, Maybe trying to find a solution for
a backup running back if and his styles is out
for any extended period of time. Yeah, that injury probably
forces their hand.
Speaker 4 (01:53:42):
But I think you'll see both teams here as we
get closer and closer to the fourth quarter starting to
rotate some of their depth guys in as.
Speaker 3 (01:53:48):
Miller takes the pitch from his quarterback Greenfield there and
he'll race this one out to the forty three yard
line of Myers Park, and so a gain of ten
there and a first down for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 4 (01:54:07):
A really good drive here doing it primarily once again
on the ground.
Speaker 5 (01:54:10):
This is J. M.
Speaker 3 (01:54:11):
Robinson's offense, a timeout called by Myers Park their first
time out of the second half, and so a productive
drive going here for JM. Robinson so far. And wanted
to let you guys know, hey, do you need a
(01:54:33):
work truck? Victory Chevy has them looking for the tough
Chevy Trail Boss.
Speaker 5 (01:54:38):
Victory Chevrolet discounts them. Need a pre owned truck.
Speaker 3 (01:54:41):
Victory Chevrolet is the place go buy and see Brandon
Gandhy and the team and drive away in your new
Silverado Victory Chevrolet Victory Chevrolet dot Com.
Speaker 4 (01:54:52):
There isn't a truck on the road that fits Kyle
Bailey more than the Trail Boss. You know, whenever it's
Trail Boss, you know what he shows up because you
can hear him pulling into the parking lot well before
he's given.
Speaker 3 (01:55:04):
I mean, he doesn't have like the stack, he doesn't
have like the stacks that the kids that are, you know,
going to high school. He's not yet.
Speaker 5 (01:55:11):
Give it time, Give it time.
Speaker 3 (01:55:12):
You think he's gonna You think he's gonna customize that
bad boy.
Speaker 5 (01:55:15):
I mean he has to.
Speaker 4 (01:55:16):
He probably has because his wife has told him not to.
But we know Kyle Bill is an independent man. Before
we know it, he'll show with a stacked.
Speaker 3 (01:55:23):
All right, second first down and ten quick staff there
for J. M. Robinson and fight after the play was
over and some words being had looked like cam guy
who picked up in spiked CJ.
Speaker 5 (01:55:43):
Waddie after he had made the catch.
Speaker 3 (01:55:46):
It was a gain of about three. But this should
be a personal foul penalty after the play is over,
and while they make this decision, we will step away
for station identification here on Sports Radio ninety two seven WFNZ.
(01:56:13):
He's the home of.
Speaker 2 (01:56:14):
The National Football League on.
Speaker 1 (01:56:17):
WFNZ FM Harrisburg and w l NKHD three Charlotte.
Speaker 3 (01:56:23):
So the personal foul penalty unsportsmanlike conduct and that will
be marked off from the forty one yard line and
so that will take us down to the twenty six
yard line of Myers Park where it'll be first down
for JM.
Speaker 4 (01:56:43):
Robinson a nice drive here, cooking for the Bulldogs. Been
able to run and been able to throw you not
even able to buy the fifteen yard.
Speaker 3 (01:56:52):
Penalty Screenfield tried the hard count, couldn't draw him off side,
and so now I'll get the play call.
Speaker 5 (01:57:02):
Moves LJ. Porter to his right side after he was
on the left.
Speaker 3 (01:57:05):
A fumbled snap, and that ball came loose multiple times.
I think LJ. Porter got back on it, but boy,
it was really close there. Looked like number forty Ramer
Lewis Taylor for meyers Park nearly came up with that one,
but LJ.
Speaker 5 (01:57:24):
Porter able to wrestle it away.
Speaker 4 (01:57:26):
Yeah, second or third time we've seen the Bulldogs have
issues with the snap getting back to the quarterback in
the shotgun. That'll be something else we'll look to clean
up when they go into week two.
Speaker 3 (01:57:36):
First so, second down and twelve, hand off this time
to LJ. Porter.
Speaker 5 (01:57:41):
Porter patiently running through.
Speaker 3 (01:57:44):
That left side and'll weave his way out to about
the twenty five yard line on Meyers Park.
Speaker 4 (01:57:56):
Did a good job there, cutting it back to the
middle of the field. Gained an extra two yards and
doesn't seem like much. But now what could have been
third and twelve and it's now third and nine, So third.
Speaker 3 (01:58:08):
Down and nine for JM. Robinson trying to keep this
promising drive alive with a minute forty to go in
the third quarter thirty seven to six in favor of
Meyers Park. Is Greenfield keeps this one and we'll run
it for a gain of about two. Interesting play call
(01:58:28):
there to say the least.
Speaker 4 (01:58:29):
Well you run that or you call that play call
knowing that you're going for it on fourth down gets
about three to.
Speaker 5 (01:58:35):
Set up fourth and six.
Speaker 4 (01:58:37):
But you're down thirty one, you're at the end of
the third quarter, you're eating the points here.
Speaker 5 (01:58:41):
You know that they were gonna go for it all
the way.
Speaker 3 (01:58:44):
So yeah, fourth down.
Speaker 5 (01:58:47):
And about seven here, need to get to.
Speaker 3 (01:58:54):
The Myers Park sixteen for a first down. As Greenfield
drops back, throws this one to Porter and that one
is complete. Porter scampering and looks like he has the
first down down to the fourteen yard line. First down.
Speaker 5 (01:59:16):
My bad.
Speaker 4 (01:59:17):
They're a beautiful play call there to set up the screen.
Great blocking down the field.
Speaker 3 (01:59:25):
It looks like we have a player for Myers Park
that is now down on the field. So we'll take
a break here from Charlotte Kickoff Night powered by Ortho Carolina.
Back after this on Sports Radio ninety two seven WFNZ.
Speaker 18 (01:59:41):
Football season is here and fall is in the air.
Like football teams, not all stem cell and PRP clinics
are created the same. Neogenics, the most trusted stem cell

at neogenicstemsells dot com. See for yourself why patients come
from all over the Carolinas to Neogenics. Neogenics where all
you have to lose is the pain.
Speaker 5 (02:00:41):
And off from quarterback Ari Greenfield to LJ.
Speaker 3 (02:00:44):
Porter on first down and ten from the fourteen yard line.
That'll be dropped for a loss of two, and it'll
be second down.
Speaker 5 (02:00:55):
And twelve coming up here for JM.
Speaker 3 (02:00:58):
Robinson.
Speaker 5 (02:00:59):
As we.
Speaker 3 (02:01:01):
Get close to the end of the quarter, we'll see
if they'll snap it one more time here before the
end of the quarter with the clock ticking a ten
seconds and Jam Robinson will Greenfield throws that one complete, No,
they say incomplete. Said he bobbled the ball and then
had a foot out of bounds, and so that one
incomplete for CJ. Wattie, and it'll be third down and
(02:01:26):
about eleven yards to go for JM. Robinson with four
seconds left in the quarter.
Speaker 4 (02:01:34):
Get dangerous throw there to throwing it into traffic. Great
individual effort by Wattie to try to catch it, try
to get his feet down, but could not complete the process.
Speaker 3 (02:01:44):
So third down and eleven. Greenfield in the backfield drops
back throws that one nearly intercepted in and out of
the hands of Josh Hines, the defensive back. The Charlotte
with a chance to pull that one in, but unfortunately
couldn't come up with that one. And so that is
(02:02:06):
the end of the third quarter. And as we get
a changeover to the fourth quarter. Wanted to tell you
that tonight's broadcast, of course, being presented to you by
Victory Chevrolet, but also tonight's kickoff event being presented by
(02:02:27):
Ortho Carolina. Ortho Carolina has always been a leader in
specialized or orthopedic care, but now when urgent attention is needed,
Ortho Carolina has urgent care options that focus on orthopedic
injuries such as sprains, fractures, strains, and dislocations. You can
count on Ortho Carolina to be the more efficient, reliable,
(02:02:48):
and better choice when it comes to your care needs.
Speaker 5 (02:02:52):
Ortho Carolina visit them today. Yeah, I thought I was.
Speaker 4 (02:02:56):
Going to visit them back earlier this spring when smoking
competed in the the Mile event here at Memorial Stadium.
Speaker 3 (02:03:06):
Competed is an interesting word to use, but sure, yeah,
go ahead, well.
Speaker 5 (02:03:13):
Let us hear it. Yeah, it was.
Speaker 4 (02:03:15):
It was forced competition. It was something I had to
do really against my will, but I sucked way to
really sell it. I had to suck it up and
do it because that's what you do when you're a
company man.
Speaker 5 (02:03:26):
But yeah, we thought we were able to walk it.
And you had this woman.
Speaker 4 (02:03:32):
It's kind of the tour de France, where you got
someone that's following you in case there was an injury
or kind of emergency. And the woman in the golf
court was not enthused with the pace at smoking I
did our time.
Speaker 3 (02:03:42):
I would imagine not if she was in a golf cart,
you would assume that. I guess she assumed that everybody
was going to be running it for you guys. That
didn't work out. Hopefully I am not roped into that
this year already volunteered you my friends. Ari Greenfield drops
back and throws this one over the middle end complete
(02:04:05):
number sixth guy. Looks like Cam Guy was the one
in there breaking that pass up as he was looking
for CJ. Watty yet again over the middle. I'd become
his favorite receiver to go to. And with that on
four down, it is a turnover and Myers Park will
be taking over once again with eleven fifty four left
(02:04:27):
to go here in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (02:04:28):
And we talked about, you know, for Jam Robinson trying
to find things to build it off of in the
second half.
Speaker 5 (02:04:33):
As this game's kind of gotten out of hand, I
think CJ.
Speaker 4 (02:04:36):
Watty has emerged as a guy that could be involved
more in this passing game as the season moves along
for them.
Speaker 3 (02:04:43):
So Ramir Watson back out there at quarterback. A little
bit shocking to see him back out there as he
turns and hands this one go off to number thirty
five Jayden Huff, who will scamper for about nine yards
or no, excuse me, about seven yards.
Speaker 4 (02:05:06):
Yeah, definitely would have thought we'd have seen Ryan Razzuti
come in here and hand the ball off to get
out of here before the game without any injuries. But
it looks like Myers Park still committed to playing their starters.
Speaker 3 (02:05:19):
Yeah, Brody Keith still out there, Chaz Portis still on
the field. Looks like that starting offensive line remains out there.
As Portis goes in motion and the handoff is to
Miller right up the middle and he'll find a lane
for a huge gain of flag there at the end.
Speaker 5 (02:05:34):
The flag was thrown with some emphasis as well.
Speaker 3 (02:05:36):
Yeah, thrown in the secondary. So it looks like that
could be a possible face mask penalty as a gain
of fifteen there for Miller or excuse me, Hof on
(02:05:57):
the carry, and so they will had a fifteen yard
penalty on to the end of that, and that puts
myers Park in JMU territory or Jam excuse jam R territory.
(02:06:20):
As Watson hands it off to Huff again, this time
able to get out or down to the forty five
yard lineup Jam Robinson a game of about two and
it'll be second down and eight.
Speaker 4 (02:06:38):
It feels like Meer's Park committed to playing their starters
here as.
Speaker 5 (02:06:42):
This game's gotten out of hand.
Speaker 4 (02:06:44):
Just just get some execution down because this play has
been so relying on the explosives. Just trying to work
out in the kinks in their running game something, because
you can't always rely on scoring thirty seven points in
the way they have every single week.
Speaker 3 (02:06:57):
As Watson throws it out to Chaz Portis there on
a little screenplay, and that'll go for a gain of
about one and so it'll be third down and seven.
Chants for Jam Robinson to get off the field. Here.
Speaker 4 (02:07:17):
A great job by that Jay and Robinson defensive back
coming up making a play on Portos because as we've seen,
if he gets to the second level, you might not
be able to get your hands on him.
Speaker 5 (02:07:26):
So that was a nice play in space alright.
Speaker 3 (02:07:33):
So third down and seven, Watson drops back pressure coming
off the edge. Watson throws that one batted down, swatted
back into his face.
Speaker 5 (02:07:47):
Looked like Landon Harding.
Speaker 3 (02:07:50):
Was the guy that knocked it back into his face.
Pressure from Isaiah Woodburn there as well on the play.
But there is a flag yeah, and looks like this
might be holding, and it is a holding on the offense.
That play is declined because it is going to be
(02:08:12):
fourth down. And so with fourth down and seven, the
Myers Park punting unit heading out onto the field.
Speaker 4 (02:08:24):
Now they took a minute there to send the punting
unit on. I thought, or they may be gonna go
for it, No need to do so. Up thirty one
and a good job by this J. M. Robinson defense,
still fighting, still competing in that and that's unforcing a punt.
Speaker 3 (02:08:41):
And so Addison Rowland back to punt a little bit
of a high snap roll and gets it down though
high wobbler. This one bounces at about the twenty and
will roll down to the fourteen yard line of JM.
(02:09:01):
Robinson where the Bulldogs will take over. Second game of
the night coming up here on Sports Radio ninety two
to seven WFNZ. It'll be myself and Kyle Bailey talking
a little bit of Olympic and Butler High School football
Olympic of course, coached by head coach Brandon Thompson, who
(02:09:25):
has been there for a while now, has had plenty
of success for the Olympic Trojans looking for another conference
title again this year. And then Butler being coached by
Brian Hales, who is back there after a very down
year for Butler. One of the few times that we've
been able to say that here in recent memory. So
a great game on tap here for game number two
(02:09:48):
of the night.
Speaker 4 (02:09:49):
Just kind of feel bad for those Butler kids having
to go on and compete against Olympians on the football field.
Speaker 3 (02:09:54):
So I'm gonna say that's not a fair fight. We're
just gonna let that one go. Oh is that pass
is incomplete? But now you mentioned it for Azarian green
and the pass was a little bit behind him for
Mari Greenfield, and that's why it falls incomplete.
Speaker 4 (02:10:11):
I remember the day the news broke that Brian Hales
was returning to Butler and kind of what that meant
because as you mentioned, and our lifetime has been very
rare to see that program down, and they were down
bat in a big way. He'll be motivated to restore
that program back to the winning nature we saw at
the end of two thousands and carry over into the
twenty tens.
Speaker 3 (02:10:30):
This Greenfield on second down throws that ball incomplete, intended
for Azarian green yet again, and so it'll bring up
third down and ten for J. M. Robinson.
Speaker 4 (02:10:50):
Defensive starters still in the field for Myers Parking to
Mitt Lewis is still out there, so it looks like
maybe they're committed to playing their starters. The whole way
really tells you the kind of tone that wanted us
to kind of come out and said, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:11:04):
The only sub that I've seen come in is Demetrius
Martin at the edge rusher spot in for a mere
McIntyre who was out there earlier. As Greenfield drops back,
throws a bomb down the field here that passes.
Speaker 5 (02:11:16):
Incomplete and a great.
Speaker 3 (02:11:19):
Play by the defensive back Orlando Brown, but he's arrived
there a little bit early, and it'll be pass interference.
Speaker 5 (02:11:30):
On Myers Park.
Speaker 3 (02:11:32):
It'll be a fifteen yard penalty and should be a
first down for jam Robinson.
Speaker 4 (02:11:36):
Now you gotta feel bad there for Orlando Brown because
what was he supposed to do?
Speaker 3 (02:11:40):
That ball was underthrown.
Speaker 4 (02:11:42):
I thought he was in a really good position to
try to make a play on the football. But that's
kind of that's that's not something that you now see
get taught really beginning to get this level that carries
over to the college, especially into the pros, is that
if you feel like you can't complete the ball, we'll
just underthrow because it'll draw the defensive pass interference flag.
Speaker 3 (02:12:01):
Certainly looked a little bit underthrown there from Greenfield, but
the thing is he never saw Orlando Brown get his
head back.
Speaker 5 (02:12:07):
Around to play the football either, And so.
Speaker 3 (02:12:14):
With the fifteen yard penalty, the ball will be spotted
at the thirty yard line. The original line of scrimmage
there on that recent series was the fifteen, not the fourteen.
So Jam Robinson looking for something here, a tunnel screen
(02:12:35):
there from Greenfield to London McElroy. But that is incomplete,
and it'll be second down and ten.
Speaker 4 (02:12:43):
Yeah, I don't think Greenfield's really able to see where
he wanted to throw the football and just kind of
to throw it to avoid getting sacked, and McElroy was
nowhere in position to make a play.
Speaker 3 (02:12:54):
So second down and ten, Greenfield hands it off up
the middle and a gain of about three Therefore, Maurice
Miller n he's tackled by the twenty three Martin and
(02:13:21):
so it'll bring up third down and about six. They
gave him four with eight thirty to go here in
the fourth quarter, Greenfield droughts back throws that one. It
is complete and being dragged down as they tried that
(02:13:45):
tunnel screen again. Is London McElroy complete number and a
gain of about three and so it'll be fourth down
and three and JM. Robinson, with this game out of hand, says,
let's just get the punting unit out there.
Speaker 4 (02:14:04):
Yeah, they're able to complete that screen that time. I'lbeit
with a bunch of pass rush coming down Greenfield's way.
Great pursuit by the Mustang defense to avoid that going
for first down that brings up you get another punt
here for the Bulldogs and Meyers Park well in control here,
can really just start to really work on folks aren't
(02:14:25):
running this clock out.
Speaker 3 (02:14:30):
Reese Zabo back to punt it and he'll get it away.
That's going he'll be fair caught by Justin Westbrook, who
is in there for Chaz portis fair caught it at
the thirty yard line of Myers Park and it'll be
(02:14:54):
first down and ten for the Mustangs. And yeah, let's
see now if they end up throwing in some of
the backups, see Land and Moss the starting tight end
coming back out, and no, it.
Speaker 5 (02:15:12):
Looks like Ramir Watson is still gonna stay in there.
Speaker 3 (02:15:14):
Yeah, so Meyers Park wanting to make sure that their
starters are ready. They of course have a very difficult
non conference schedule this offseason or this upcoming season. It
was announced earlier this offseason. Definitely thought it was one
of the tougher ones that I had seen as Jaden
(02:15:38):
Huff with a three yard game there on fourth on
first down, it'll be second down and seven.
Speaker 4 (02:15:46):
This is how you send a message, This is how
you set the tone for what looks to be like
a bounce back season. You're up thirty one, but we're
still gonna play our starts. We're still gonna work on
executing stuff with us in the run game in the
past game.
Speaker 5 (02:15:58):
Same things defensively and special team.
Speaker 3 (02:16:00):
So that' ball handed off there again to Huff and
that one goes for no gain, it'll be third down
and seven.
Speaker 4 (02:16:18):
I think you do have to like with the way
jam Robinson has still competed despite the scoreboard not going
in their favor. They've been frustrated definitely at times, that's
for sure, but they haven't hung their heads. They've just
got up and theyde plays after play, and so that's
something you gotta like to see.
Speaker 5 (02:16:33):
If you're a jam Robinson fan is a yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:16:35):
The scoreboard mann't reflect what you wanted to see, but
your kids are still out here.
Speaker 3 (02:16:38):
They're fighting and competing at Watson on the play is sacked.
Speaking of competing, Isaiah Woodburn still rushing the quarterback and
he gets to Ramer, Watson drops him back at the
twenty yard line and it'll be fourteen down in twenty
(02:17:02):
for Myers Park. And that's the thing you want to
see if you're coach Jason Sideel, just see your guys
continuing to show the effort. Who are the high motor
guys that are gonna be carrying us through the rest
of this year.
Speaker 4 (02:17:13):
And that's really the first time all game that we've
seen Watson really hold onto the ball too long. Usually,
if his first original initial read or who hasn't been there,
he just pulled it down and ran. Not that time
results in a big sack for a big loss.
Speaker 3 (02:17:25):
So Addison Rowland is back to kick it away. This
is a high end over in Pontfield at at the
thirty nine yard line and a decent return there for
Nahem snipe out to the forty. Let's see where they're
(02:17:46):
gonna spot at the fifty yard line. They've been fooling
me all night with where these spots have been at.
That's always the most interesting thing I think when calling
games at the high school level is is where that
ball is going to be spotted, Because a lot of
times it's not where you initially think it is. But
all in all, think you've done a really good job
kind of overcoming some obstacles. Well, thank you.
Speaker 4 (02:18:10):
You could quit mentioning having to call the next name
with Kyle Bailey, But you know, other than that, I
think you've been pretty great.
Speaker 3 (02:18:16):
Now Kyle Bailey coming up, Guys, get excited, all right,
it's first down and ten. Nice throw there from Ari
Greenfield rolling to his right and completes to number two
Azarian green and it'll be a first down gain of
twenty down to the thirty yard line of Myers Park
(02:18:39):
or now nineteen. They did it to me.
Speaker 4 (02:18:41):
Again that time he could have taken the check down
and just trying to at the line of scrimmage still
would have been a positive play, but that time threw
it to the second level and they gave and they
pick up more than thirty and a hand off there
to Maurice Miller.
Speaker 3 (02:19:00):
As he'll get down to the twenty seven of Myers
Park gain of about four. It'll be second down and six.
Speaker 4 (02:19:07):
One thing I've enjoyed seeing tonight, kind of little football
nerd guy, and you see it from both sides, is
usually some really creative formations from both the offenses.
Speaker 3 (02:19:18):
Are your favorite stacks play. They've been running that quite
a few times on the right side of their offenses.
Here is Miller on the handoff and a nice game.
Speaker 4 (02:19:31):
I mean, when I was in high school, you know
you had the the spread offense. I had definitely shown
up and taken over. We hadn't learned what the RPO
was and not partant that was gonna be. Maybe you
would see a diamond formation here or there. You never
see the stacks ride to the stacks. What you see now,
which kind of really replaced the trips to the either
(02:19:51):
side of the formation. So it's been really fun to
see how both the offenses have kind of evolved here
in twenty twenty five eleven.
Speaker 3 (02:19:58):
Yard game there for Maurice Miller, and now a quick
throw here. This one's gonna go for a loss though,
and a loss of about one to CJ. Waddie, a
wide receiver.
Speaker 4 (02:20:08):
It feels like that's a sixth or seventh catch or
target alone here in the second half, and he's shifting man.
When he gets the ball, he kind of wants to
turn it up field, trying to make something happen that time,
though there was no green Grass in front of him.
Speaker 3 (02:20:21):
We've seen a lot of him, and we've seen Azarian
green here later in the game, who's also produced a
couple of nice catches. Second down and eleven Greenfield play action.
Now drops back, tucks the ball and takes off and
(02:20:44):
Greenfield will pick up about three yards.
Speaker 4 (02:20:49):
He saw Maurice Miller during the course of that play
throw his hands up to try to get Greenfield's attention
that he was open. He kind of slipped out of
the back on the left side. If he caught him,
they've been able to take an in for Greenfield never saw.
That's why he pulled it down and only picked up
three and so now.
Speaker 3 (02:21:06):
Two minutes forty seconds left in the game. Here time
quickly running off the clock. Is the snap hand off
to or no keeper by Ory Greenfield. They will escape.
(02:21:27):
Tries to power his way into the end zone and
let's see, looks like they're gonna mark him short.
Speaker 5 (02:21:35):
Greenfielded the keeper bounds at.
Speaker 3 (02:21:38):
The three yard line.
Speaker 4 (02:21:40):
Loved the way he finished that run there, just didn't
want to step out of bounce. He lowered his shoulder,
tried to gain an extra yard or two, maybe even
cross the pie line and get it in for a touchdown.
Good drive here as this game is coming to a close,
just to build some confidence and momentumums and rhythm going
into next week.
Speaker 3 (02:22:00):
So first and goal from the three yard line for JM. Robinson,
two sixteen to go. As Greenfield throws that one incomplete,
looked like it might have been batted at the line
of scrimmage by Camden Portis as he was coming on
(02:22:21):
a blitz yet again, and so it'll be second down
and goal.
Speaker 4 (02:22:25):
Yeah, trying to get the ball to C. J. Watti
whould be able to take that one in for six.
These Portis brothers, they've they've made their impression felt here
in this first game of the twenty twenty five season, no.
Speaker 3 (02:22:37):
Doubt about that. They have definitely stood out for most
of the night. Demad Lewis also has had a really
strong game for Myers Park on the defensive side of
the ball. And so second and goal and now a
(02:22:58):
flag comes flying in, we'll back it up. False start
on the JM. Robinson offense, and so that'll back him up.
It'll be second down and goal now from the eight
yard line. Story of the night from the very first
offensive play we started with the pre snap penalty.
Speaker 4 (02:23:18):
We're deep here in the fourth quarter. That's the seventh
or eighth pre snap penalty on J. M. Robinson alone
in this ball game. Just trying to close this one out.
Speaker 3 (02:23:32):
With a touchdown to get something positive going into next week.
As Greenfield takes the snap of quarterback keeper all the
way and he has dropped, just mentioned his name, and
he's making another play, Demaude Lewis brings him down there
for a loss of two. He's so long, so even
if he's maybe not in the initial play, he can
(02:23:53):
just reach out, get a hand on a jersey and
bring the guy with the football down.
Speaker 5 (02:23:57):
That's what he did right there.
Speaker 4 (02:23:58):
Great pursuit and That's something that if you're Chris James
and you're Myers Park, you gotta be fired up about
because this guy just plays with a relentless energy effort,
no matter what the scoreboard says.
Speaker 3 (02:24:10):
Time ticking under a minute, thirty five left to go
here as Greenfield drops back pressure and he sacked de maud.
Speaker 5 (02:24:25):
Lewis again, Louis and it'll.
Speaker 3 (02:24:29):
Be fourth down and goal, and you would imagine J. M. Robinson. Oh,
they're not gonna go for it. They're gonna bring out
their kicker to try to test his leg. Here is
the ball is all the way back on the twenty
yard line.
Speaker 4 (02:24:46):
Yeah knowa mobilely the left tackle left one on one
there on the left side, just no chance to block
a guy demaud Lewis's side strength. He overpowered him, took
down the quarterback. In the process. What was once first
and goal in the three has turned to a fourth
and goal outside the twenty and so from.
Speaker 3 (02:25:08):
Thirty seven yards, Zabo comes on and we'll kick that
one and that is no good and it'll be a
turnover on downs with thirty four seconds to go, and
we do have a player down for myers Park.
Speaker 5 (02:25:32):

And now perfect time to name the Ortho Carolina player
(02:26:17):
of the game. There are a lot that we can
pick from here, but I gotta tell you I think,
especially with the way that he's played on that last drive,
I think Demad Lewis might be the player of the
game here for mynors Park.
Speaker 5 (02:26:29):
Okay, so you'll go with de maud Lewis.
Speaker 4 (02:26:31):
I was gonna name josh Falzano the player of the
game as well, not because his name is Josh and
my name is Joshua, because he's just been that good
for Myers Park. But it's really hard to disagree whichever
way you want to go. Man, I definitely feel comfortable
going your way, all.
Speaker 3 (02:26:45):
Right, So knee taken there as they have finally put
in Ryan Razuti at quarterback and that will be the
one knee that he needs to take to end this one.
Thirty seven to six the final score here in the
first game of the Ortho Carolina Kickoff Classic here to
start the season Charlotte Kickoff Night presented by Ortho Carolina.
(02:27:09):
The second game that is on deck Olympic and Butler

to start off the season over JM. Robinson and you've
