La Crosse School Superintendent, Dr. Aaron Engel, stopped in studio Monday, just days before students are in the classroom and summer break is over.
And we discussed just that, as La Crosse is now starting the year earlier after getting approval to do so by the Wisconsin state Legislature — a move that saves the district $200,000, as it no longer has to bus only private school students.
We also discussed the transition of moving administration to Central High School, as the Hogan building gets torn down soon for a new elementary school. Engel discussed the bid process that will happen soon to do that half of the $53.5 million referendum.
Other topics discussed included jobs in the school district — from bus drivers to substitute teachers to teacher aids — new bleachers at Logan's football field and the district’s culinary school, where students can learn everything about the food industry.
