In our last show my guest, Travis Koch, and I began our discussion about the wrestling match many parents are facing with school choice. We also discussed the book “The Anxious Generation” by Jonathan Haidt. The subtitle of his book is “How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness.” His primary diagnosis of the root cause was outdoor play has been replaced with screen play.
In today’s Part 2 episode, we dig deeper into the political wrestling match taking place today in the Texas Legislature. A House bill and a different Senate bill on school choice have both already been passed in each chamber. Now the two versions must be hashed out in a conference committee and sent to Governor Abbott for his signature creating a new law that will take effect this fall.
Travis walks us through what the new law will likely mean to parents who have children in private schools, home schooling programs, or public schools today. He also highlights what his new school, West Christian Prep, offers to address the concerns of boys in particular.
Another episode packed with great information to help your with your wrestling match in this arena.

Are You A Charlotte?
In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
