Speaker 1 (00:05):
Approche production. Hi, I'm Jennifer Cray. Let's reflect on today's
mantra I practice mindfulness. Close your eyes or lower your gaze.

(00:31):
Relax your eyes, relax your ears, relax your jaw, relax
your shoulders down and bring your attention to your brain.

(00:57):
Allow the events of your day to run through your
mind from when you woke up to this very moment.
Reflecting on the movement of your body through the atmosphere,

(01:35):
Reflecting on your uttermost boundary, your skin. Reflect on how
practicing mindfulness shaped your day. What can you learn from this? Now?

(02:23):
Think of three things that happened today that you can
be grateful for. Say thank you, and then let go,
releasing the day and all thoughts that came with it.

(02:51):
Calling your energy back to this moment, bringing your attention
to your breath, breathing in and out of your nose,

(03:16):
Drawing your breath down into your belly where there are
no thoughts at all. Follow us on Instagram at your
morning mantra.

Stuff You Should Know
Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
