Discouragement is a silent weight many of us carry—sometimes quietly, sometimes with exhaustion that’s hard to put into words. Even the most faithful believers find themselves wondering if God is still near. In tonight’s prayer and devotional, Greg Grandchamp reminds us that discouragement is not a sign of weak faith—it’s an invitation to lean into God’s strength.

Scripture is full of faithful individuals who experienced discouragement:

  • David, who cried out, “How long, O Lord?” (Psalm 13:1)

  • Paul, who was anxious, beaten, and burdened beyond strength

  • Even Jesus, who asked for the cup of suffering to pass from Him

And yet, these moments of deep lament were always met with renewed hope and deeper intimacy with God. When we feel alone or overwhelmed, Deuteronomy 31:8 assures us: God goes before us. He will never leave us.

Let this truth anchor your heart: you don’t have to muster strength from within. You are not expected to climb out of discouragement by yourself. God is your strength, your comfort, and your constant guide.

📖 Tonight’s Scripture: Deuteronomy 31:8

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

🙏 Your Evening Prayer

Father in Heaven,
You know all things—my struggles, my doubts, my pain. Right now, I feel weighed down and distant from your presence. Please draw near. Let me sense You walking beside me through this valley.
I thank You that Your Word promises You will never leave or forsake me. Help me rest in Your unwavering love and gain strength from Your presence.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Three Things to Reflect Upon

  1. Be honest with God.
David poured out his heart in lament, not because he lacked faith—but because he trusted God enough to bring his full, unfiltered self. When you feel low, let God meet you there.

  2. Remember the true source of your strength.
Your strength doesn’t come from your willpower or positivity. It comes from the eternal, unshakable strength of God. Lean into Him.

  3. Let grace shine through your weakness.
As 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
What if your lowest moments were the very places God wanted to reveal His power?
