Comparison is one of the greatest thieves of joy. As our evening prayer and devotional remind us, social media makes it all too easy to feel like others are moving ahead while you’re stuck waiting. Yet Scripture calls us not to measure our worth against highlight reels but to test our own actions before the Lord.
Sophia shares how seasons of illness left her comparing her slowed-down life with peers’ seemingly carefree ones. But God reminded her that He is El Roi, the God who sees. Even when life feels interrupted or unnoticed, He never loses sight of us.
Comparison fades when we shift our focus from other people’s paths to the unique journey God is shaping in us. Our lives may look less glamorous, but they are no less valuable in His eyes.
Tonight’s Scripture: Galatians 6:4
"Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else."

π Your Nightly Prayer
Lord,
You are the God who sees me, just as You saw Hagar in the wilderness. Help me turn from the lie that others have it better, easier, or more joyful than I do. Instead, open my eyes to where You are at work in my life right now. Teach me to celebrate the growth You are producing in me and to rest in the assurance that I am fully seen, known, and loved by You.
Amen.
π§ Three Things to Meditate Upon
Think about the area of your life that feels most overlooked. How might God be at work there, even if no one else notices?
Write down three things you are grateful for today—small or large—and thank God for them.
Reflect on the image of a jigsaw puzzle. How might your current season be just one piece in the larger, beautiful picture God is creating?
