十月底（10月29日），台灣法務部突然公告修法草案，預告加重刑法第288及290條關於墮胎行為的刑罰，將墮胎行為的罰金從三千元提高至八萬元，協助墮胎意圖營利者的罰金則從一萬五千元提高至五十萬元。
此公告一出，引起台灣社會一陣譁然。由於提高罰則可能會嚇阻合法醫療機構提供安全人工流產的醫療協助，需要人工流產的婦女可能因此被迫尋求相對不安全的方式進行引產。
本月初（11月5日），法務部再度發布聲明，宣布撤回草案預告，重新再議。也因為此事件，台灣社會再次出現希望法務部將「墮胎罪」廢除的討論。
有些人是直到這次十月底的法務部修法公告，才知道原來台灣刑法裡其實還存在著「墮胎罪」這項罪名。本集快訊中，Zoe以律師角度說明在刑法「墮胎罪」章節仍舊存在的情況下，《優生保健法》如何突破重圍讓婦女仍舊有合法墮胎的權利。Zukkim 也在十月底法務部公告消息一出之後，立刻與台灣大學公共衛生學院的教授們聯合撰稿，投書《報導者》，說明保障婦女的墮胎權為何如此重要。
