紀錄片簡介:年度長片《歡迎來到北車大客廳》紀錄四名來自印尼不同世代的女性看護工來台灣工作的故事。她們的名字是 Tantri、Umi、Pindy、Yusni,平日她們照顧老人或小孩,假日則從事自己熱衷的事物。而台北車站也因地理位置的關係,成了印尼看護工、移工重要的聚集地。移工們會到北車唱歌、看書、分享食物、談天說地,也成為了北車在假日期間熱鬧的場景,北車彷彿成為移工們的「客廳」。

導演紀曾文珍與我們分享七年製作的拍攝過程。她在研究、拍攝主角人物的時候,她察覺到「空間」是一個有意思的主題,而北車是一個很重要的空間使居住在台灣的移工們可以維繫感情。在雇主家,她們在屬於自己的空間中維持喜愛的事物及興趣,像是拍攝、寫作、創作藝術,並與遠在印尼的家人聯繫。在這些空間中,移工們在忙碌的工作環境中獲得休息,並享有生活中的樂趣。

紀錄片也延伸出了現今台灣對待看護工仍存在權益不等的現象。舉例來說,看護工未納入勞基法保障的範疇、雇主性騷擾等問題,這也促使了在台移工發起不同的勞權運動。導演也透過鏡頭紀錄,訪談了主角們對權益不等的看法及心境。

導演小檔案:曾文珍長期拍攝人文紀錄片以及居住在台灣的不同族群的故事:原住民族、新住民、跨國移工、身障人士,等等。作品集包括:《逃跑的人》(2020, 入選日本山形國際紀錄片影展亞洲千波萬波競賽單元)、《夢想美髮店》(2011, 公共電視)、《世紀宋美齡》(2003, 公共電視)、《春天-許金玉的故事》(2002, 金馬獎最佳紀錄片獎) 。

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm.
