荷蘭國會議員 Boris Dittrich 在1994年第一次提出荷蘭同性婚姻法條之後，2001年4月1日，荷蘭同性婚姻合法化正式上路。繼上集 Boris 分享荷蘭從1994到2001的七年間的社會狀態、合法化後的民意，以及他們在倡議時所採取的社會溝通策略之後，本集要繼續來聊聊，合法化後的23年，現在的荷蘭正在面對哪些狀況。
荷蘭現任的聯合政府是在2023年11月大選之後，由席次最多的極右派自由黨（PVV）邀請另外三個政黨組成。2024年5月正式達成聯合政府的組閣協議，7月2日向荷蘭國王宣誓就職上路。偏右派的聯合政府組成雖然繼續維持荷蘭一直以來的同志友善路線，但對於跨性別族群則相對較不友善。
此外，烏干達在2023年通過了反同志法案，同性性行為累犯者最高可能判處死刑。此法案震驚全球，包含荷蘭、美國等國在內，許多西方國家因此中斷對烏干達的經濟援助，以表達對烏干達同志社群的聲援與對該法案的譴責。
Boris 透過這起事件說明他作為烏干達 LGBT 組織 Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG) 的顧問委員，觀察到烏干達人民將斷援的責任歸咎於 LGBT 族群的現象。Boris 表示他也理解，荷蘭政府為了避免金援會被用於傷害烏干達 LGBT 族群的立法，所以決定中斷金援的考量；所以 Boris 提出，也許未來在經濟援助的決策上，可以考慮鎖定援助方向，以避免無意間傷害到 LGBT 族群。

The Burden
The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary.
