Écrivain et philosophe, le Marquis de Sade est surtout une figure très controversée à cause de ses écrits qui accordent une place importante à l’érotisme et la pornographie, bien souvent dans le cadre d’actes de cruauté, voire de viols et de meurtres. Son nom de famille a d’ailleurs donné naissance au mot "sadisme". À cause de ses textes et de son comportement déviant, Sade a passé plus d’un tiers de sa vie en prison.
