En étant le seul à signer à la fois la Déclaration d’Indépendance en 1776, le Traité d'alliance franco-américaine en 1778, le Traité de Paris en 1783 et la Constitution des États-Unis en 1787, Benjamin Franklin est considéré comme le plus important des Pères Fondateurs des États-Unis. Et ce alors qu’il n’a jamais été au pouvoir, ce qui lui vaut le titre de "seul président des États-Unis qui n’a jamais été président des États-Unis". Mais derrière l’homme politique se cache aussi un grand homme de science, inventeur de génie à qui l’on doit notamment le paratonnerre.
