סמ"ר רותם דושי ז"ל, בן 20 משמשית, היה לוחם בחטיבת הצנחנים ונפל בקרב בכפר עזה ב-7.10. אביו ירון מספר: "הוא היה ילד מלא בשמחת חיים, היה לו לב גדול וביטחון עצמי גבוה - לכל מקום אליו הגיע, הוא היה הלב הפועם של החבורה. רותם תמיד היה עם חיוך על הפנים - אין לנו תמונה אחת באלבומים שאין עליו חיוך".
ירון שיתף בסיפור נפילתו של רותם: "בשעה 7:45 אנחנו רואים צבע אדום בדרום ואז מעירים את רותם. הקפצתי אותו לבסיס אליקים, נפרדתי ממנו בחיבוק ונשיקה ואמרתי לו שישמור על עצמו. לאחר שהוא הלך לכיוון הבסיס, הוא הסתובב אלי, ראה שלא הלכתי - ואז עשה לי עם הידיים סימן של לב ושלח לי נשיקה. זאת הייתה הפעם האחרונה שראיתי אותו. רותם היה בין הלוחמים הראשונים שנכנסו עם כוח מאולתר לכפר עזה. פתחו עליהם אש, זרקו עליהם רימונים - אבל רותם הצליח לפגוע בכמה מחבלים עד שכדור אחד פגע בו והוא נהרג במקום" | האזינו לשיחה המלאה בתכניתם של הילה קורח ויאיר שרקי במסגרת מיזם "נזכור את כולם" שמביא את סיפוריהם של נופלי 7 באוקטובר
