شكّلت اتفاقية أوسلو في عام ٩٤ نقطة فاصلة في تأريخ القضية الفلسطينية، حيث ورد في نص الاتفاقية عدة نقاط من ضمنها، رفض النضال الفلسطيني المسلّح ضد اسرائيل، والاعتراف الدولي بالسلطة الفلسطينية كممثل رسمي للشعب الفلسطيني. في أعقاب أوسلو، تداخل المجتمع الفلسطيني مع المجتمع الدولي المكون سواءً من دول او منظمات، مما صنع علاقة معقدة ومتوترة بين الطرفين أثرت على الداخل الفلسطيني على عدة أصعدة، من ضمنها القدرة السياسية على الحشد والتجمع.
