Stock Movers Report, your roundup of companies making moves in
the stock market, harnessing the power of Bloomberg Data.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Let's take a look at some stocks on the move today.
I'm Nathan Hager, joined by Bloomberg's Critty Goupta. On a
very busy morning for earnings before we hear from the
big tech heavyweights. But this morning, Cretty, it really seems
like in Nvidia is driving the bus.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Good morning, Nathan. Absolutely it is Nvidio, but it is
poised at the moment to break yet in other record,
the shares are higher by about three point six percent
this morning, trading at two hundred and eight dollars a share.
NVDA is your ticker as it floats, highers taking with
it really all the technology names and all the semiconductor
names with it. So you're seeing likes of AMD, LAMB Research,
(00:53):
among a slew of others. If there's a chip name
out there to trading today, is trading higher and probably
following in Vidia's lead. If Nvidia continues to trade at
the pace it's trading right now in the pre market
at nine thirty am New York time, it is going
to be the first five trillion dollar company around the world,
which is pretty significant given that this is, I want
(01:14):
to say, on pace first third day of gains now
after hitting a record on Friday, thinking a deal with
Deutsche Telecom and Nokia in the last couple of days,
and now of course a key part of the US
and China trade negotiations, it seems nevertheless, Nvidia NVDA higher
by three point six percent. Nathan, I'm gonna give you
all the winners first, then we'll go to the losers
because outperforming in video this morning. Is another name that
(01:37):
we like to look at for the global growth picture,
and that is Caterpillar. CEAT is your ticker, trading at
five hundred and fifty dollars a share higher by almost
five percent. This is a pretty big deal for Caterpillar.
They had that massive exposure to Asia. They were worried
about a construction slowdown as well. It looks like their
earnings are coming in very strong. They're beating estimate and
also they're talking about higher sales from their energy unit,
(01:59):
which is kind of the surprise to the upside for
a lot of analysts. So they're getting the Wall Street
equivalent of a round of applause. Hired by four point
nine percent this morning, five hundred and fifty dollars a
share for c AT now the last one. I'll perform
both the Nvidia and Caterpillar. I thought this one was surprising, Nathan,
But I'm taking a personal victory lap if I can. Okay,
circa my college days, when I nerded out an investment club,
(02:22):
I pitched a stock called te Connectivity at sixty two
dollars a shared. This morning, that is your highest traded
stock by volume, two hundred and fifty five dollars a share.
TL is your ticker hired by percent.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
I know I'm not going to say it back in
the day.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
I know I'm not going to say I told you so.
But someone out there is listening to this report, and
you know to them, I told you so. This is
a company that specializes in censors, things with data centers,
things like electronic equipment. They are very much a part
of the US China trade. It looks like their earnings
came in pretty strong as well. So TL is your
ticker hired by almost eight percent this morning. So enormous
(02:59):
move there. I'm going to give you the rapid fire
round of the downside movers. You really only need to
know one this morning, and it's Mandalize MDLZ, trading lower
by about five percent. They cut their full year earnings forecast.
It's now trading at about fifty seven dollars and change.
You look at some of the analysis from our very
own Bloomberg Intelligence, weakness in the North American biscuit business,
(03:20):
which to me just sounds like not enough people are
buying oreos. Mandaliz MDLZ down five percent is.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
