Will (00:00):
Nother realm is a real play Dungeons and Dragons
podcast where in Bruce Tanner, and we'll try to make dumb jokes
and a compelling story. Some ofthe content within will not be
for children. But if thatdoesn't bother you, then here's
what happened on the lastepisode of Nother realm.

Tanner (00:20):
You then feel all that pain turn into burning anger
when you hear the voice of anice Oliver Hadley. The man you
once called brother. There is nopunishment too hard for this
man.

Bruce (00:32):
I never killed nobody and deserve killing and our shows
how they kill me brother's

Tanner (00:37):
life. The rest of it with no chance of escape.

Bruce (00:41):
Well, I've seen enough of this. We both know how this
story ends. Let's figure out away to get out of here.

Will (00:47):
Truth.

Tanner (00:49):
I tried. I orchestrated the whole fucking thing.

Bruce (00:55):
Well, that was a fucking wild ride.

Will (00:58):
Gonna go find a picture of what I presume is me and the
doctor doing some stuff. Okay.
Just follow my lead here. I pullit off the wall. The name's
Jason. That tell me yours.

Tanner (01:10):
My clients got to meet you somewhere waiting anything
to look before?

Will (01:14):
You've got to be in there somewhere, buddy.

Bruce (01:17):
What do you do six. I told you not to touch things you
didn't understand.

Tanner (01:21):
Navarro runs in the opposite direction towards one
of the picture frames and triesto take it off the wall.

Bruce (01:26):
Oh, I

Will (01:27):
don't know about this running faster away from
whatever he's doing.

Tanner (01:31):
What could kind of either push you forward? Or do
you hear Do you want to stay

Bruce (01:36):
three more nines

Will (01:39):
can tell you

Tanner (01:40):
and as you attach to these things, you can feel all
the feelings flood backinstantaneously it is almost
overwhelming is that trucks

Bruce (01:50):
bleeding fucking close.

Tanner (02:35):
The two of you have just basically been spat out of basic
like kind of a middle ground forthe afterlife wherein you met
death and destroyed a gallerythat showed people all of their
lifespan so that they couldmaybe take something in and
learn from it before they passedon. It's probably not an option

(02:58):
anymore. And because of that, you jumped into a portal and now
your spit out of the big thingthe big mass and it has just
basically fucked off

Will (03:11):
back away from the mass did not disappear in on itself
like the rest of the world.
Right?

Tanner (03:16):
No it it fled. Basically as as much as it came. Yeah. But
for now the thing to unpack isthat you are currently back in
the ruins of Leylen You arestanding nearby. Everyone that
you left here the Onyx companyis nearby just kind of

(03:37):
dumbfounded by the thing thatthey just saw. And you also have
Rangi who right when you cameback out of this thing landed
from when you pushed him so itseems like the passage of time
the positions that everyone wasin really hasn't progressed

(03:59):
since you left even though youwere there for a whole last
episode.

Will (04:04):
Do we land on our feet?

Tanner (04:07):
Did you land on your feet?

Bruce (04:09):
Time works differently and lightspeed?

Will (04:12):
I don't know. Actually, you know what? I'm gonna roll
with the straight detune if it'sabove a 10 I roll Ireland on my
feet.

Bruce (04:20):
Oh acrobatics, because that's what that's for

Tanner (04:24):
the Oh yeah, that's good too. Would you get

Bruce (04:27):
well I land on my ass

Will (04:28):
out of a D 20. I think I said detained earlier out of a D
20. I'm gonna set so on my robotVery good.

Tanner (04:38):
Thank you guys. Um, as you guys land, everyone nearby
is basically in a battle stance.
The last thing you reallyremember, of this area's like
Ranji had tossed his bomb. Therewas a lot of commotion going on
the the black hole collector wasmore in you know, looking to
come confront you and I See theblack hole collective Onyx

(05:00):
company, the black holeCollective is a much bigger
organization. And they like theshock of what just happened,
what they just saw. washes awayfrom their faces and the
expressions that everyone butyou too has is more focused on
you and the Blackhawk Collectiveis. You know Strickland, of

(05:24):
course in his black cloud armorlooks down at you just piss both
of you fallen on your assets.
And Rangi looks a littleemotionally hurt. Like you just
pushed him for no reason. AndStrickland will shout out as he
kind of walks up to you. Youassholes decided that you're

(05:48):
going to take our contract andthen mess with us as we try and
cross dangerous ground. I reallydon't know what I expected. But
man dickheads

Bruce (06:09):
a douche bag here's our fucking contract first in
approach you he approached me?

Tanner (06:13):
Did you have the actual contract?

Bruce (06:16):
Sure did right here. I wave of random piece of paper
around put it back and you say14

Tanner (06:28):
Oh shit. I dropped my dice everywhere and rolled over
by toe

Bruce (06:31):
and counts.

Tanner (06:33):
This is a D 12.

Bruce (06:36):
Perfect. Keep it general better than me. Okay,

Tanner (06:40):
Bert. Oh, 15 on the dice. Okay, yeah,

Bruce (06:43):
he does. Yeah,

Tanner (06:45):
well, that just seems like skeleton. That's a bunch of
bullshit. Because kinda likeyour armor. He was about to ask
for the actual rite of passage, but when you make fun of his
armor, he steps up towards you.
Would you say

Bruce (07:02):
you heard me? I said your arm is fucking stupid.

Tanner (07:06):
My armor is standard issue. There is nothing fine.
Standard

Bruce (07:10):
stupid.

Tanner (07:13):
Oh, all right. Mmm hmm.
Okay, he's

Bruce (07:17):
not in the mood arts.
He's not in the mood.

Tanner (07:20):
The mood this coming from the the fool in a bowler
cap and a pinstripe suit? Comeon, man. That was that was like
popular in the capitol fouryears ago.

Bruce (07:34):
I'm sorry. You and the people in the capitol have bad
taste.

Will (07:37):
Archie. I think we found everything that we needed. They
can have the rest. Good luck. AsI try to stand up. And I don't
know if I reach out a hand toshake it. I think I just walk
over to Rangi and try to helphim up.

Tanner (07:56):
You go over to Rangi you go to help him. He actually
looks kind of sad as you hookthem up. And he looks over to
you. Archie says well, Bronsonpress runs so Howard.

Bruce (08:08):
Sorry. Brava tripped.
There's a rock over there.

Will (08:11):
That reception.

Bruce (08:14):
Yay, this one's better.
And 9015 on

Tanner (08:17):
the dose. I'm just rolling 15 today. It's not bad.
Um, his face softens. And hekind of does his little goblin
clothes off. Until that happens.
And he looks up at the Onyxcompany and back to you. Let me
throw a bomb at these guys.

Will (08:41):
No, no, no, I'm

Bruce (08:43):
just not I not Yes. No. I nod yes. While saying no. No,
don't do that. No, don't don'tthrow a bomb at them. That's a
That's a terrible idea.

Tanner (08:54):
Reggie start slowly nodding. And then his head
starts going faster and faster.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, he pulls out afucking bomb.

Will (09:02):
I stopped him. I stopped by to grab the bomb. Because I'm
saying

Tanner (09:06):
you restrain his wrist.
And he's trying to tug againstyou. But it's a dog run

Will (09:14):
out Ranji. It's I appreciate all your help. But
this will not be necessary atthis moment in time.

Tanner (09:21):
For astronomers, florists, bilaterals. And global
Crowley's subtler run was filledwith explosive the sun the sun
different

Will (09:34):
I'm almost afraid to ask but what is this room filled

Bruce (09:36):
with? Why don't you let him throw it and we'll find out.

Tanner (09:38):
This is Brett.
Strickland will at this point.
Will the try and stop this wholesituation? Now listen, if you've
fuckheads don't mind getting thehell out the way we're gonna
finish this contract becauseobviously all you're doing is
sitting around on your asses andnot figure carrying shit out.

Bruce (10:01):
So guy got here after us.
Oh, and

Tanner (10:05):
what have you discovered in the ruins?

Bruce (10:07):
Lots? And I won't tell you anything. Yeah fuck off now
by I turn around and walk away.
Okay. Which does go six we'vegot we've got things to
accomplish.

Will (10:18):
I agree. Good luck to you Strickland? Yeah.

Tanner (10:24):
Wait, no, no I, hey, and you guys walk away as he's
trying to think of a comeback ashe just agreed to see you later
Randy starts to kind of get upand follow you guys. What? Where
are you wanting to go? Where areyou heading? Because you've just
discovered quite a bit ofinformation in the ruins. And it

(10:47):
does seem weird that you knowthe interactions you've had so
far. No one seemed to haverecognized that they just face
down something massive andterrible.

Will (10:59):
Archie, did you notice?
Even even rangy he thought thatyou pushed him for no reason?
Reggie, what do you rememberfrom what just happened?

Bruce (11:10):
Now? I didn't push him for no reason I tripped. We've
been through this the threat

Will (11:16):
regime? What is your interpretation? Did you see
anything out of the ordinary?

Tanner (11:23):
No, I was thrown the towel bomb at the assholes. Like
you told me that sir. And thenthen then he tripped on his
personal and I fell down andthere was a backup. And then the
assaults have confrontation. AndI was wanting to throw bomb
bolts to the terminal not tothrow a bomb but certainly to

(11:44):
throw a bomb. So neurons isconfused.

Bruce (11:48):
Well, six is clearly the gentleman of moral judgment here
so you should listen to himRandy.

Will (11:55):
Orton? Well. I guess I am confused as well, Randy. Archie,
didn't you go get Rangi andbring him to this place? Huh?
And Rangi you don't rememberthat?

Tanner (12:12):
Ah, there was a lot of commotion. So the Brompton lover
after saying don't throw a bomb, and then Brahma Zhu, and then
the other does tone, and thenthey didn't throw a bomb. And he
started searching his pack. Andhe he says, rare explosive bomb

(12:34):
and he's looking all around Igotta go back I think they'll
drop the bomb.

Bruce (12:38):
Oh no, I'll leave it there and then they'll find it
and then we'll get to blow themup.

Tanner (12:41):
But the third then that's gonna be bad for us.

Bruce (12:44):
You're assuming that those morons know how to work it
to blow themselves up and thentwo birds one stone

Tanner (12:50):
Randles barrel smother?
Bomb rock.

Will (12:54):
One last question. Randy.
Do you remember? A an oldergentleman with us?

Tanner (13:01):
Now just look to rent to reruns? Are those two girls lunk
run on a roll. I'll tall girland the shorter girl and then
that.

(13:32):
And now we interrupt our mainstory to bring you back to the
drift to see what became ofProfessor Argo Mao caught. We
start this scene in a dream.
Nobles gather in the Great Hallof the hope sworn palace. Queen
a celebratory stance in herchair and raises a silver goblet
towards Argo to Argo you'vegiven so much to Attoria No more

(13:54):
illness no more pain, no moredeath. Even with all the power
the crown bestows upon me Icould never repay you to
immortality to our Go mal CoxArgo mount to Argo Mel cargo Mel
cars are going to Argo Malka.

(14:27):
Dreams upon dreams. How longhave I been here? no sun, no
moon, endless water and thenthis. This downhill tower. Argo
looks up at the limitless stairsabove and the small speck of
light at some immeasurabledistance, gray stone stairs and

(14:50):
grey stone walls above and belowI suppose it's climb into the
unknown or descend into theclutches of death? I don't know
if escaping them was luck. Itcertainly wasn't skill. Could
death have just let me go? Six.
Jason. I hope you've made itout. We were so close to

(15:16):
greatness you and I. Well, maybewe'll meet again. The middle age
Professor stands and runs a handdown his pointed beard. He
resumes his climb up the graytower. Each step is labored. His
pallid skin is nearly ascolorless now as the stone
around him. Yet Argos stillclimbs with purpose. He no

(15:39):
longer seeks escape. He seeksknowledge, the ideas in his mind
branch on and on to newhypotheses even as his body
aches with fatigue. And thoughhe is very much alone, voices
soon pull him from his thoughtsshould be best not through this
drama, I am now cooling. Ifyou're going to whisper nonsense

(16:05):

I understand. That's nineoptions you know, nine. Shoe

heel on best. North's Reva Foleywill ballroom drum. I am now

(16:30):
Kure over and over and over.
Perhaps I'll go insane beforeanything else. Argo shakes his
head and runs his palm along thesmooth gray stone. He climbs
until his concept of time fades.
He climbs until he feels hespent most of his life in this
gray tower. That's not true.

(16:55):
shahidul Vestron I am coolingshoe Hill does not rely fully

now. And over and over and overagain. Argo responds, not
knowing what their words mean.

He climbs the light growscloser. He climbs the light

(17:39):

the light grows closer he climbsthe light grows closer

Will (18:02):
curious indeed. Okay. I think I'm left with more
questions and answers. Archie

Bruce (18:09):
might I'm sorry. I wasn't listening. I was looking over
there trying to figure out whichway we're going.

Will (18:14):
That's what I was going to suggest next. We probably should
get back to bathe. But how do wedo that?

Bruce (18:25):
Yeah, well, I would like my money.

Will (18:28):
I would also like your money I mean you to have money.

Bruce (18:32):
Hey, Randy. Yeah, what's the best way to get back to
Leylen or whatever that soundwas?

Tanner (18:37):
Ah nonetheless never been through Ludlum I had to put
on like goblins for some reasonbut no light on the maps and
frozen up mild cabin. I'm the isnot the rare it is but like if

(18:59):
he wanted, the quickest routewould be to go back south
Florida. But we're not goingback south, the big the big suit
the big earthquake, that kind offucked up the whole term. So
going back that direction. Ubertells me some time to try and
figure out a new path. So fasterwe'll we'll probably go to North

(19:19):
and then I'd like to I lovemaths and can cross on the on
the on the world. And then youget back to your other side and
then you just go south

Bruce (19:31):
when you're thanks six.

Will (19:33):
Well, we can't go through wound hold and we can't go under
wound hold now. Especially sincewe can't even go back south. I
think that we go north what isNorth Rangi

Tanner (19:47):
though loves town, the politis bluff. You guys. You
guys are now resolved to headnorth Rangi gives you the basics
of the day directions. And heexplains that he needs to go
back south. And he he pulls outa bit of parchment and he kind

(20:09):
of traces a basic path that youneed to follow forward. Because
the road from here North isn'tvery clear. And but it's from
his map, it seems like it'sbasically due north from here
you can find pickets bluff,

Bruce (20:24):
or your guide and a cartographer

Tanner (20:27):
alone, runs in the past

Will (20:30):
Rangi does it all Rayji Do you think you could also maybe
slow down the progress of thoseother guys? They're trying to
steal our contract there wasours, rightfully unknown.

Tanner (20:44):
He looks back and you can see that the black hole
collective kind of has set up amini day camp the like put up
some some tools and stuff asthey're going into the towers
and exploring some stuff. Theyall kind of go into one building
and Randy says, like, in as muchof a whisper as I can do in a
Rangi voice. Unknown Altun as analtar there on the buildin at a

(21:09):
service plosives around builtand unnatural splott The
building collapses anthem.

Bruce (21:15):
Archie begins nodding his head violently Yes.

Tanner (21:19):
Does this federalism

Will (21:23):
typically I might disagree with this, but fuck it. Is that
how you go.

Tanner (21:32):
All right. Ranji starts rummaging through stuff in his
pouch. You can see he's takingsome powders and some putty and
mixing some things together.

Bruce (21:39):
Making our remember orangey We didn't tell you to do
this. And if you get away andfind us again. I'll give you two
more I do two more duck ducks.
Two more dark ducks to not getfound. not tell them anything if
you are found in to find usagain later.

Will (21:58):
Archie, give him one for his troubles now. He's helped us
a lot.

Bruce (22:04):
That's fair six, a hand Randy another either.

Tanner (22:08):
I'll tell outdoor all the listings.

Bruce (22:11):
Because you're the best Reggie, you're the best that

Tanner (22:14):
he's beaming. Okay, so you guys leave Ranji. And as as
you start heading north, you cansee him finishing up his pace
and parties. And he startssneaking through the buildings.
He's doing a great job justdarting from building to
building there's a couple oflittle cartwheels he pulls as he
goes from one wall to another.
And he sets himself up

Bruce (22:36):
making his own theme song. Yeah, yeah.

Tanner (22:44):
He, he starts putting putty and little wires between
it around the building that theblack hole collective has set
themselves up. And the two ofyou start heading north on this,
you know, it's it's a veryrudimentary map that he's drawn
for you, but it's easy enough tofollow. And as the sun begins to
begins to set, you guys can seeon the horizon, along the edge

(23:08):
of the wound, a little town,it's very simple. At least from
this distance, you can tell andyou assume at this point that
this is pickets bluff. As you'rewalking into town, you're taking
in the sights. And you youespecially know Archie that this
is a bit of a rough and tumbletown. Just looking at the the

(23:28):
people that live here. And fromthe basic location and for what
you know about bootlegging inthe area that it is kind of a
stopping point between thenations of Almir to the east,
and Attoria, which is whereLeylen is. The few buildings
here are really simple. They'remade of mostly wood, and it's

(23:50):
hard to tell the businesses fromthe houses if there even are
businesses here, you doeventually see one building with
a sign outside. And as you casethis joint, you can recognize
that it is an end you can lookin the windows, which are
largely covered with wood andhave no glass and you can see

(24:12):
people inside gambling drinkingthere's a fire light going
through and there's just youknow, an old crotchety barkeep
basically denying people drinksunless they actually come up to
the bar and get them. So yeah,100% this is the in even with
the knowledge of this place. Youdon't know its name, the sign

(24:34):
doesn't have a name on it. It'sjust sitting there swinging in
the breeze.

Bruce (24:39):
Alright, six is the pisspot was sleeping in the
night.

Tanner (24:43):
All right, so you guys enter the quote unquote pisspot
and head up to the counter andtalk to the guy about getting a
room for the night. He ends upcharging you only one EIder and
Archie you know that that isactually really cheap for a town
that's out on the edge. Theycould charge whatever they want
to whoever is coming in here, especially if it's, you know,

(25:03):
booze runners and things likethat they're gonna get you come
in and go and, but he hands youthe key and he points you back
to the hallway at the end of thebar and to the room in the back
left.

Bruce (25:16):
I'm gonna say I'm gonna look at 6pm I'm gonna say, all
right. Let me make sure the roomis clear before we go settle
down.

Tanner (25:26):
Okay, you unlock the door. As the door swings inward.
It creaks very loudly on therest of hinges. The inside of
this room as the candle lightfrom the main room illuminates a
portion of it, you can see a fewcockroaches scatter. Yeah, it's
in dire need of cleaning. Thebed is very simple. It looks

(25:50):
like it'll probably fit oneperson. And as you take a step
in the you hear footsteps behindyou. And the old guy from up
front tosses you a blanket here, you're gonna be needing this.
And you catch that new he walksright back to the bar. Yeah,
this place is not quite gross, but enough to not be comfortable

(26:16):
for people who are seekingcomfort.

Bruce (26:18):
Well, it's a good thing that I'm used to sleeping on
stone.

Tanner (26:22):
Oh, yeah. How many years were you in jail, by the way?

Bruce (26:27):
Somewhere in between the like, seven to eight year range.
It was a good it was a goodstint before he made his way out
of

Tanner (26:36):
Yeah. Yeah, so the comment that Strickland made
about your sense of style beinga little behind might hold some
actual truth to it. Okay, you toget settled in this room. Again,
it's very simple. There's athere's a candle on the

(26:57):
nightstand that you light up thethere's a window nearby. Again,
it's mostly boarded up by wood.
But there are there's enough ofa crack in it to see outside.
And the town is pretty lively, even at this later hour.

Bruce (27:15):
One thing before I forget. Archie checks to make
sure the lock on the dooractually works. Huh?

Tanner (27:26):
It does not.

Bruce (27:28):
I would like to roll the thieves tool roll to see if I
can set it from the inside.
Yeah, okay. Go and give me that.
I don't know. What do you see?
Maybe so but I just happen tohave those. I got a 14.

Tanner (27:43):
Yeah, you're able to rig up something that you think is
relatively secure, you're ableto repair the lock. It's pretty
simple. If someone had someknowledge, you know that they'd
be able to get past themechanism you have holding it up
pretty easily. But most peoplewon't be able to get in without

(28:03):
you knowing.

Bruce (28:04):
Yeah, okay, cool. Is there a chair or table or like,
piece of wood? anything of thatsort?

Tanner (28:12):
Yeah, there's a chair in a small desk nearby. Okay, I'm
gonna do

Bruce (28:15):
the thing that you see in all the movies with the chair
leaning up against the door.
Yeah.

Tanner (28:19):
So five degree angle and bolster it under the door handle
and hope that it stands. Youknow, if anything, it'll make
some noise if someone tries toget in it.

Bruce (28:28):
That's, that's kind of the point. All right, go ahead
and pegasys it.

Will (28:34):
Just remember Archie, I have you have a built in
security system with me. I don'tsleep.

Bruce (28:42):
That's fair. But you can never be too careful, especially
in CD joints like this.

Tanner (28:47):
All right, the two of you knuckleheads settle in for a
good night's rest. Archie, youget in the bed. It's it's better
than a stone floor. All right.
Comfortable. Yeah, as I sayafter all you've been through
and actually it's pretty nice.
This whole this particular room,it does make you a bit homesick

(29:11):
for some of your rougher nightsback before you're arrested.
Because you spent time movingfrom place to place in in these
sorts of locations. Six as yousettle yourself into the corner,
you take out your Thunderboltcable, plug it into the wall on
the door.

Will (29:30):
Well before you go too much further. I'm six can I'm
thinking about the activities ofthe day, obviously six is that
he's very perplexed. Can I dosome sort of check to kind of
get some insight on death andall the things that we
experienced today?

Tanner (29:47):
Okay, go ahead and roll religion

Bruce (29:51):
Oh, hi. Do me a favor.
plug my phone into

Tanner (29:56):
the proprietary cables that he's he's definitely got An
extra it's a it's a 12. Somereason is none of them are USPC

Will (30:04):
Why am I a priest that does not have proficiency in
religion? Just what the fuck isyour race your cleric, cleric?
That's the sort of that sort ofblah, priest. That's very true.
And I am definitely an awkward adifferent type of cleric. But
you would think I would havesome sort of knowledge of
religion, but I guessthematically it makes sense,
because I don't fucking knowanything. All right, so 12 Total

(30:25):
Tanner, give me give me yourbest for that.

Tanner (30:28):
So, with a 12, um, you know that there's been a lot
going on with you in interactingwith entities that don't have a
physical form. And as you settleinto the corner, you kind of
think on that and try and reachout to whoever who has been

(30:51):
reaching out to you. As you dothis, what, what kind of what
words what is it? What's, whatare you reaching out with? God?
Okay, just just questioning adeity to see whether or not it
exists. Yes, yes. Okay,

Will (31:11):
can you hear me, I've never done this before.

Tanner (31:17):
Dear God, it's me, Margaret. With 12. With a 12,
you don't hear a voice is somuch as you get a feeling of
connection with something. Itseems to be sort of that
familiar long in yoursurroundings as when it reached

(31:38):
out in the forest. But most ofyour senses are still attached,
you can see Archie settling downin the bed nearby, you can hear
the people still, you knowconversing and playing games and
drinking out side. So you're notas entranced as you have been
before. The feeling that you getis one of self attained

(32:03):
knowledge, something that youhave actually learned before
something that you're reachingback towards. It is basically a
memory. So it is a memory ofknowledge connected to Gods and
religion. And what six attachesto is death as you met, it isn't

(32:31):
depicted that way in thereligions that you know of not
in the common practice, not inthe evason practice. Basically,
in both of those death isrepresented as an entity that
walks this plane of existenceand takes you into the next not
something that's, you know, across all universes, and

(32:54):
realistically, your knowledge ofmultiple universes is a bit
shocking. You think back and youpull a name, death, as you know,
it is called Tish. And teachbasically ushers you from this
plane of existence into theafterlife. Now, one thing that

(33:18):
you can pull that wasn't in thedocument that I gave you, prior
to the campaign is a memory of aphrase that's been been uttered
a couple of times, you've beentold to seek truth above all
else, and you think about truth, and you draw that connection
truth is Novar. I don't know whyyou didn't think of that before

(33:40):
you knew this. Truth isrepresented by the ascendant
Navarre who isn't a true God,but as someone who has granted
God who had based on theirconvictions, one other thing
that you do pull from the phrasethat's been uttered to you
multiple times, truth above allelse. And all else, you know, in

(34:03):
some small circles, is whatpeople call a segment of the
afterlife.

Will (34:11):
Oh, shit, you gave me a lot more with uh, with that than
I thought I would get with a 12

Tanner (34:17):
I didn't mean to give you that much. But I was having
fun with it. So there you go.

Will (34:20):
I'm good with that. All else is what now so that what
we're talking

Tanner (34:24):
all else is the afterlife. But you know, you
know, it's not drift realm. Orthe drift as I've called it.
Yeah, the 12 The 12 would haveallowed you to like higher you
might have been able to talk toa God understood. But these are
just these are just things thatyou would know. All right, so
the two of you settle down torest and eventually drift off

(34:47):
into both sleep and yourmeditative Sentinel state.
Through out the night.

Will (34:53):
How many hours are

Bruce (34:56):
like eight,

Tanner (34:57):
full eight hours asleep?
Okay, it's all good rest. arenot there yet. It's not boring.
No, I

Will (35:02):
know. But the hours before they interrupt.

Tanner (35:05):
Oh, throughout the night, Archie, you begin to have
a few nightmares. And they are acombination of what you just
went through in the galleryseeing, you know, this old

(35:25):
memory that's plagued you thisfalse closure that you kind of
got from it. And just thinkingof an ES as your as your
dreaming just has you in a coldsweat throughout the night you
wake up a couple of times. Andyou finally drift into a

(35:47):
somewhat of a restful sleep.
Six, you're keeping a watch onthe door as you're recharging.
At one point in the night. Youdo hear a bit of scraping on the
outside of the door

Will (36:07):
is I'm not going to do anything immediately. He's just
watching the door and see ifthere's any signs of something
trying to get in.

Tanner (36:15):
Yeah, as you're watching the door.

Bruce (36:18):
Six stands up in screams Oh not Oh,

Tanner (36:24):
no. What What actually happens is you hear what sounds
like someone messing with thelock. And you hear fuck. And
then it's messing with it again.
You think fuck? One more time.
Fuck

Bruce (36:40):
and then you're done. And you hear the Skyrim level up
sound

Tanner (36:46):
and then you hear them walk away giving up? Because
that was a natural one.

Will (36:50):
Oh, okay. Oh boy, I had something. I had something
planned very nicely.

Bruce (37:01):
People don't know how to pick locks correctly in this day
and age.

Will (37:07):
All very good. Okay, I guess six just continues
watching and breathes a sigh ofrelief because he wasn't sure if
what he was going to do is goingto work.

Tanner (37:16):
Yep. As as you maintain your watch. Morning begins to
creep through the slits in thewoods.

Will (37:23):
Wait, was that our random?
Those are encounter Okay, I likeit.

Tanner (37:35):
I mean, I wanted you prepared, man. I'm not gonna
make your effort for nothing.
You prepared? He rolled. I waslike, Okay, I've used what you
rolled as the DC and I rolled aone.

Will (37:48):
That just what happens?
That's so yeah, so bad as

Bruce (37:52):
I love it. Yeah, if it had been like any other
character probably just go tosleep. But I was like, Nah, you
gotta be cautious and he'smental like

Tanner (38:02):
in a place like this for sure. So yeah, the morning like
starts to creep through theslits in the in the wood covered
windows. And the two of you wakeup. You gather the things that
you find him unpacked. Verynice. That was And yeah. Oh,
you're bored. Okay. Fuck you.
Now, you know what you know.

(38:25):
It's a fucker Doron. Yeah. Asthat yawn as you unlock and
unlatch the door. An old man wasseven canaries walks in

Will (38:36):
that real No, no

Tanner (38:38):
behind that reference.
Okay, it's fine. No, I don't getcomments sometimes takes the
form of an old man with sevencanaries. Nope. Oh,

Bruce (38:45):
that's never happened.
I've never been lucky enough toexperience

Tanner (38:48):
run him that way. The old man. Oh, yeah. And

Bruce (38:52):
it's always been either voice in my head or a really
angry dragon trying to kill me.
Yeah. Generally the ladder.

Tanner (38:59):
Alright, so that doesn't actually happen. What does is
you guys gather your things andunlatch the door you can see on
the floor, and partially in thelock three broken lockpicks from
the night before?

Bruce (39:12):
I knew it.

Will (39:14):
Oh, I knew it as well. I saw him try. He sucked.

Bruce (39:20):
I say really loudly. Man.
People around here really don'tknow how to pick locks. Do they?
Six.

Will (39:27):
I agree Archie.

Tanner (39:30):
In the in the room next to you. You hear someone say?

Will (39:33):
Shut the fuck up. No, you.

Bruce (39:39):
You tell them six.

Tanner (39:43):
Yeah, so you guys make your way out of town. Quickly.
No one stops you on the way out.
You do see a guy on the cornerlooks like he might be missing
the I don't know. Threelockpicks

Bruce (39:54):
you suck in lockpicking All right.

Tanner (39:58):
He nods in agree

Will (40:25):

guys slept and got to levelthree. Good. Good job. Thanks
for the reminder. What did youguys get for level three?

Will (42:30):
I got nine more hit points because I rolled the dice and
got a six plus three. Boom, fancy

Tanner (42:36):
D one

Will (42:37):
D eight. I took the chance and rolled. And I now have level
two spells that might justsupposable that's scary. I am
super pumped because it you guysyou know what's at level two,
you know, say level two, do notfireball zone of truth.

Tanner (42:55):
Oh, it's true. That's fun one.

Will (42:57):
I definitely prepared that. And I prepared several
other spells that I will devotewhen needed. Well, if

Bruce (43:04):
if even if you don't prepare them, we're not going to
know because we're gonna.

Will (43:09):
If you hear me cast more than six different Spells that
aren't a bless Cure Wounds,

Tanner (43:15):
less than

Will (43:17):
whatever. I've got several spells that I just

Bruce (43:19):
automatically assume we're playing correctly.

Will (43:21):
Yes, we're playing correctly. We're doing this by
the book.

Tanner (43:23):
Did you take Did you take any subclass me? Like did
do you get those at level?
Three? Two? Well, you alreadyhad yours level two. Yes,

Will (43:33):
it was the the lifetime and life domain.

Tanner (43:35):
That's right. Okay.
Archie gets some cool stuff. Wealready had some illustrative
descriptions of fuzz hands.

Bruce (43:42):
Yeah. Archie is going to go down the path of the beast,
barbarian subtree. So I get todo fun stuff like, get about a
weapon, or grow a title, ormaybe a close.

Tanner (43:58):
That's dope. One thing that you do know is even when
your hands transformed veryquickly, where you came to this
realization that tattoo remainedand it didn't like color the fur
on the back of your hand claws.
It basically was like a shavedarea where you could still see

(44:19):
the golden tattoo. And what thatdoes, now that you've kind of
been able to take in a lot ofexperience, and you sort of feel
more connected to your senses.
And you gain a wolf's keensenses.

Will (44:44):
Oh, was that me? Okay,

Bruce (44:50):
hang on. I'll tell you exactly what I need them stats,
but

Tanner (44:53):
the wolf has advantage on perception checks that rely
on hearing or smell nice. YEAH.

Will (45:01):
OH dope. That's actually really good. I dig it. Yeah.
What uh, what cool stuff that Iget Tanner Tanner. You didn't
tell me anything about Michaelstuff

Tanner (45:10):
as you as you think about that, your mask cracks
further towards your left eye.
And you hear a click and see, well, if Archie looks he can see
gold filling in this crack. Andyou feel sort of you feel like
you're more able to connect withhumanoids as if you gained some

(45:34):
skill in persuasion.

Will (45:43):
Nice.

Tanner (45:44):
So I wanted to think of a particular scenario where it
would be like, Okay, you get youget advantage on these sort of
things, but you gain advantageon persuasion, when you are
trying to convince someone fortheir own safety. That's cool.

Will (46:06):
Okay, that's pretty, that's pretty dope. Excellent.
I'm sure that I will find somany uses for this.

Tanner (46:14):
Hey, cat, it it's a it's a bit of altruism that you've
kind of because you've seemed tohave been more caring for people
and trying to do certain thingsas you're learning, trying,
trying. Alright, in midafternoon, you happen upon the,
the edge of the wound, the pathends at a very steep and roughly

(46:41):
hewn set of stairs that tracedown the side of the wound. And
you can see from this distancethat it does attach to a
rudimentary bridge, one thatseems to have had some sort of
structure that was better in thepast, but now it's just between
those stone structures justcobbled together. Wood Planks

(47:05):
that have been put together withrope across it from each
segment, and the center. Fromhere you can see the beginnings
of of a bit of a strip of landthat this portion is built on
to. So the land bridge does holdsome truth to it. I need a
history check from either ofyou.

Will (47:30):
Net 20

Tanner (47:31):
Wow. All right.

Bruce (47:34):
Okay, he is the robot.

Will (47:36):
I'm super excited about I don't know the last I can't
remember the my last that 20

Tanner (47:41):
Have you had one yet?

Will (47:42):
I love this. If it's not my first one, then yay for my
second or third one. But if itis my first one, yeah. So

Tanner (47:50):
you got them speedy solid state drives and you're
able to pull up thisinformation. What you know about
the cobbled causeway is it'sabout two and a half miles
across the waters of the wound.
Most of it is pretty dark acrossjust because of how high the

(48:11):
walls reach on either side. Soeven in daylight, most of this
area is shaded. It requires thisdissension and ascension on
either side of the steep stairs.
The information that you can youcan pull back is stories, tales
that you've heard in yourresearch, ghost stories of an

(48:37):
elven woman who haunts thecauseway from the stories with
his natural 20 I can give youthe whole freaking thing I
guess. You remember that? Thetale says that while alive this
woman was bound on one with Danewhich is an island to the north
of here. She was then tossedinto the salt waters of the

(48:58):
wound. She managed to stay alivein the turbulent waters until
she reached the cobbled causewaywhere she was swept under by the
current and pinned to the stone.
And there is where she died. Andbecause of her death, how much
she struggled to stay alive. Andwhat happened to her on the
island. She did not leave thisplane of existence and instead

(49:22):
haunts it. Now the truth ofthat? You don't know. So

Will (49:28):
Archie, this is what's known as the cobbled causeway. I
don't you see, I don't have manymemories, but for some reason. I
know that there's a an elvenghost that protects this bridge,
if you will hearts it, of a ladythat was done very wrong. I

(49:52):
don't know that there's anotherway across. So we're probably
going to have to brave it. But Iwanted you to be aware. There is
some danger here.

Bruce (50:01):
Nothing's easy, is it?

Will (50:04):
It would seem. You're correct.

Bruce (50:07):
Fantastic. All right.
Let's go, I suppose.

Tanner (50:13):
All right, the two of you begin to descend down the
stairs. It's treacherous, butyou're able to make your way
down to the beginning of thecauseway down onto the wooden
planks that cross. It is a longstretch before it gets from a
stone structure to another stonestructure. And fact,

Will (50:36):
did you know this was 2.5 miles across.

Bruce (50:40):
Now? I didn't tell me another fun fact.

Will (50:43):
There's a dead lady that hearts this bridge. I think I
already told you that whenthough. Yeah, you did. This
thing's been here forever. Idon't know if it's going to hold
us. Yes, we'll find out.

Tanner (50:54):
And as you say that now, you guys, you guys begin to make
your way towards the long stripof land ahead of you. The waters
here down at the bottom of thewound are rushing very quickly
south. When you were in Leylen, you could see that the waters
also moved in a southerlydirection. So it's safe to

(51:15):
assume that throughout thewound, these waters are just
going south. There are rapidsmoving through here you can see
that someone if they were sweptup and pinned down beneath this
current against something. Yeah,it would mean certain death. The
only light that's being castdown is from the late afternoon

(51:35):
sun as it's over the westernside of the world. And there's
this small strip of light thattraces down it's almost reached
the eastern wall from thisangle. But most of the area is
shrouded in shade. And throughthe rushing of the waters, you

(51:56):
start to hear what sounds likevoices intermingled with it. And
you can see shadows moving oddlyas they're cast across the land
bridge. Here. You're steppingacross pretty slick cobblestone

(52:17):
that's built across thissegment. And you'll eventually
hear the clanging of chains. Andyou can see off in the distance
of figured knelt down on theside of the bridge, crying into
her hands, long silver hairstripping up behind her and

(52:39):
pointed ears on either side ofher head. She has a slender
figure that you can kind of seethrough

Bruce (52:49):
six is what we're going to do. We're going to ignore it
and just keep moving.

Will (52:54):
I wonder if that will work. I think maybe we should
try to help.

Bruce (53:04):
Okay, but I don't think you're gonna like the reaction.

Will (53:09):
Do you think she's mad at us?

Bruce (53:11):
I think she's probably mad at everything. But I don't
know anything about ghosts.
You're the one with powers overhere.

Will (53:19):
Okay. Look, I tell you what, let's try your way. And if
she talks to us, I think I havean idea.

Bruce (53:32):
Sounds like a plan.

Will (53:34):
Okay, so we're gonna try to sneak by I guess or not
really sleep. We're just gonnakeep walking.

Bruce (53:39):
Keep walking completely ignore her and like she does not
exist. Okay.

Tanner (53:45):
The two of you begin walking closer. She is just
sobbing. You know, kind of thewitch from left for day. Yeah,

Bruce (53:53):
I already had that.

Unknown (53:54):
Yeah, I was already there. Yeah,

Will (53:57):
that creepy is crying.

Tanner (53:58):
She seems to ignore you as you get closer and closer.
But as you're about 15 feetaway, she slowly brings her
hands down into her lap andbrings her head upwards and
slowly turns it towards you. Sheis beautiful.

Bruce (54:22):
I wouldn't know I'm not looking at her.

Tanner (54:24):
Yeah, okay. If you were looking at her you could tell
that she is beautiful. Are bothboth of you are just looking
straightforward.

Will (54:31):
No, I looked at her.

Tanner (54:34):
Okay, as you make eye contact

Will (54:37):
me Oh, that's the thing that's supposed to do that.

Tanner (54:42):
As you make eye contact with her, her visit shifts and
you can see like it turned tothis this semi transparent,
decaying flesh for a splitsecond this face of terror like
she is so afraid but then itshifts to anger if she meets

(55:02):
your gaze. And she calls out toyou. How could you do this to
me?

Bruce (55:10):
Keep walking six. don't acknowledge it.

Tanner (55:14):
Why would you change me?
I've been here for so long. I'mso afraid. You just keep
walking.

Will (55:25):
I have done nothing to you. But it's nice to meet you.
I am six

Bruce (55:30):
shot. All

Tanner (55:31):
right. Knowledge her

Bruce (55:37):
All right, six. We'll see I believe you can handle this
one. If you don't well, it'sgood. No one

Tanner (55:41):
Yeah. I need you to give me a Christmas savings. Are
there six?

Will (55:44):
Charisma saving throw?
Yes, sir.

Bruce (55:51):
This is where we'll realizes he should have brought
a paladin

Tanner (55:58):
once you get to good face,

Will (56:03):
it's a good base. I did because it was such a good role
Tanner. And once that role wouldyou believe if I said a natural
20? How about that?

Tanner (56:13):
No. It's a three

Will (56:15):
plus one.

Tanner (56:16):
Oh, it's that's a good rule. That's a good rule. So
with a four this is whathappens. She disappears.

Will (56:23):
Problem solved. Hey, moment. Yeah, I agree. I hope I
helped you. Thank you. Nicelady.

Tanner (56:31):
You. All right, the two of you continue across the
bridge. arching you justcontinue marching forward, six,
you can feel your legs begin toslow down. And then you can kind
of feel like certain parts ofyou are not moving where you'd

(56:51):
like them to one of them down tothe mace at your side as you
unsheathed it, and go to swingat the back of Archie.

Will (57:03):
Archie Watch out.

Tanner (57:05):
You try a shout out and you cannot I need to make an
attack roll for me.

Will (57:10):
So hey, luckily I'm bad at these. Ah, yes, that's a five.
It is plus some shit but I doubtthat's going to hit

Tanner (57:24):
just very quickly you hear wash Ed quickly enough to
turn around and move out of theway of may swing from six Archie
six you could feel like you hadsome sort of resistance in
there. But now you can feel herinside your mind and this cold
washes over you all the fear andanger that she harbors is now

(57:49):
dwelling inside of you. And youare still completely aware of
everything that she's making youdo but you're unable to speak
out or move of your own volitionsweet in sixes voice Archie you
here and I'm just going to sendthis to you.

Will (58:12):
Will I was down here for so long. And now I'll make you
feel what I felt.

Tanner (58:22):
When when he says this.
He points down with his macetowards the your left side of
the bridge. And then he builtthe roll initiative. I run okay,
still roll initiative. 18. Sixon the days are total total.

Will (58:43):
Minus a six plus zero.
It's dramatic because I'mplaying a different character
now. But I'm still six.

Tanner (58:51):
Okay, all right, cool.
I'm glad that the possessionhappened to the only person that
has fucking turn on dead. It'sreally good skill. All right, Up
first is the ghost. So six, youwill once again try and take a
swing at Archie. Okay, I

Bruce (59:09):
see now. I was like what?
I realized he rolled it.

Will (59:15):
And that's a seven plus four.

Tanner (59:20):
All right, 11 doesn't hit. You make another swing. But
still you offer some resistanceas this thing is possessing you.
And Archie is able to move outof the way quickly enough.

Will (59:32):
How dare you put me on that island?

Tanner (59:36):
As you try and speak back to it. Oh no, you're
speaking Okay. Very good way toget into character. Well, come
on, man.

Will (59:42):
I'm helping you out.

Tanner (59:44):
Nice. All right, Archie.
It is now your turn.

Bruce (59:49):
Cool. Archie smirks a little bit. He pulls his wolf
head mace out. He says realsorry about this brother, but
it's gonna Aren't you more thanit is me rage and grow a long
black wool steel. Nice. Nice.

Tanner (01:00:12):
What does that do for you?

Bruce (01:00:14):
I can choose as a reaction to add or to roll one
date and add it to my AC Okay, cool

Tanner (01:00:26):
that's That's dope

Bruce (01:00:29):
That's dope then I'm gonna walk you through it with
my mace

Tanner (01:00:35):
mace are great X. Nice.
Oh yeah your your makes me gotit.

Bruce (01:00:39):
I mean I go could technically do it with my great
axe, but I'm doing this with mymace to make it be more to make
more sense.

Will (01:00:46):
So Archie, Archie understands what's going on. Do
you think like straight up likeyour characters outside of game?

Bruce (01:00:54):
Yeah, I would assume so.
I mean, if I saw you werepossessed. You're attacking me
for no reason. So I

Will (01:01:00):
believe I believe that Archie would know, right?
Because he said, You kept medown there for so long. I mean,
like, that doesn't make sensefor six to say that shit.

Tanner (01:01:09):
Yeah. And you also aren't he? Archie was also
telling you not to look at her.
So

Will (01:01:14):
yeah, I did i Hey, I'm six. Fuck me.

Tanner (01:01:21):
Yeah, pretty much. Go ahead and roll. 19 That hits.

Bruce (01:01:26):
Nine damage. Oh, I'm ranged 11 damage scuze me.

Tanner (01:01:31):
Nice. Alright, so you come down with your wolf had
mace and smack six in the side.
It finds purchase and does somedamage to him. Six, even with
the pain you're unable to callout.

Will (01:01:47):
Okay. Oh, yeah, that's fine.

Tanner (01:01:50):
Okay, your turn comes and goes. And it is

Will (01:01:53):
I can't do anything. No, no, any checks?

Tanner (01:01:56):
Okay, no checks. No checks. Possession is big. Go
ahead and roll the hit.

Will (01:02:04):
That's an eight plus 412 Does 12 hit? No, I've actually
tried to hit Archie. Now Yeah,

Tanner (01:02:12):
it does not hit. Once again, the feeling inside you is
able to slow the swing of yourmace. You can feel the
frustration of the ghost surgethrough you this shriek internal
of pain and still fear that thisman in front of you is going to
put you back under the watersand you get a vision of being

(01:02:36):
stuck under there afterstruggling for so long to stay
afloat. Now you're suffering asyour lungs filled with air. I
want to go ahead, y'all. Yeah, where's your lungs filled water?
Thank you. I need to go aheadand roll a wisdom saving throw,
please.

Will (01:02:51):
Alright. wisdom saving throw. That is a five plus
three, eight. Okay. Nope. Papa's510 1010 10. If that makes any
difference,

Tanner (01:03:03):
you take three psychic damage. As this the horror of
what she went through, rushesin. Glad we

Will (01:03:13):
got that long rest. Boy.
That's

Tanner (01:03:19):
all right, Archie.

Bruce (01:03:22):
I set a question for you.
The robots have to breathe.

Will (01:03:27):
I know not who six is. But this body doesn't really need to
breathe.

Tanner (01:03:33):
She doesn't have any sort of idea that it's this
body. Just yeah,

Will (01:03:39):
I'm making my own story here. Tinder. Fuck you.

Bruce (01:03:44):
Oh, it's just the body that you're jacked over there.
So after I knock him out, I'mgonna send you straight to hell
for messing with me. Rob.

Will (01:03:52):
I knew you wanted to hurt me. Oh, no.

Bruce (01:03:55):
Cease your existence. I just want

Tanner (01:03:58):
All right, roll hit when he says this once again. You're
wracked with fear.

Will (01:04:03):
Who is you?

Tanner (01:04:05):
All right. Nice. That hits. I like that. I don't have
to do anything. This is a verynice compliment. Why

Will (01:04:11):
do I do okay if six is Raghu fear does he use anything
is at his disposal? Now it'sjust a feeling okay, I gotcha.
Cool. I'll just make it sure Iwant to play it out the way it's
supposed to be played. Yeah, sounds good.

Tanner (01:04:26):
You could just you you just feel her emotions. How much
damage she is psychic.

Will (01:04:33):
Know how much damage to Bruce's do Oh, I

Bruce (01:04:35):
just dealt seven seven

Will (01:04:37):
okay

Tanner (01:04:40):
all right. You do anything else?

Bruce (01:04:43):
I just wait. Okay

Tanner (01:04:47):
six let's out a screech Ah. Good script

Bruce (01:04:55):
very very scary ghost lady. Not That's it. That's
that's not right.

Tanner (01:05:00):
Roll it.

Will (01:05:04):
Ah, now that's a 13 plus for us 17.

Bruce (01:05:08):
All right, I use my reaction to use my tail to and

Will (01:05:16):
I'm not even going to hit him. What's,

Bruce (01:05:18):
what's the two? What's your total?

Will (01:05:20):
70?

Bruce (01:05:21):
Okay. I got a five on the dice. So I add five. So that
makes it 19.

Tanner (01:05:27):
Nice. All right, again, six, you're able to put some
resistance into the swing. AndArchie is able to definitely
step out of the way.

Will (01:05:37):
Can I speak internally to her at all? You could try. Okay,
I tried to say I won't allow youto hurt my friend.

Tanner (01:05:46):
She. You can feel anger at this thought. As if she just
wants vengeance as if that wouldfix everything. And that this
man here is who she needs tosave the waters.

Will (01:06:03):
I say one more thing. Just real quick. I said. If you stop
attacking, I might be able tohelp you.

Tanner (01:06:13):
Ah, you fuckhead go ahead Roy advantage persuasion.
With that new.

Will (01:06:20):
Thank you. That's what I was going for. Five minutes and
eight on those. That is a 10 ondice. Minus one so nine.

Tanner (01:06:33):
All right, she bolsters this thought and just thinks no
one's going to help me. I haveto help myself. I stayed afloat
for so long. I just have to stayafloat for a little longer and
put him down. Okay. All right.
Whose turn? Whose turn was it? Ithink it's all you did defense.

(01:06:55):
Alright, so Archie, go ahead.
What do you do?

Bruce (01:07:02):
I am gonna sit let's see Archie, he's gonna look like a
six and he's gonna say I hopeyou trust me. Bruv and he's
gonna fucking whack the shit outof him. Alright. 17 I believe
that

Will (01:07:22):
does 717 tie goes to the attacker.

Bruce (01:07:26):
Funky. All right, well, let's take another 11 damage.

Tanner (01:07:30):
All right, six, you can feel that the resistance that
you're offering is also slowingdown some of her reactions to
not get hit. So in your body, you're getting smacked and you
still feel the pain from it.

Bruce (01:07:40):
I am holding his head.
Let me make that very clear.
Okay.

Will (01:07:44):
Okay, so you do understand six is down.

Tanner (01:07:48):
He's down. Yeah,

Bruce (01:07:49):
so I choose to knock him out. Not do lethal damage to
him. Yeah. Okay, all right.

Tanner (01:07:54):
Yeah. Okay. So as six falls to the ground, you can see
the light from his eyes go dimand the light from his number
six on his forehead also go dim.
I was too

Bruce (01:08:05):
quick reaction to this.
But as soon as I see him beginto crumble, I close my eyes. And
I immediately go to pick up hisbody and head back towards the
steps that we were going to theway that you guys we're going to
be we're heading and I'm usingI'm using my hearing and my
smell. Oh right me.

Tanner (01:08:25):
Okay. All right. You see six fall and you quickly get
underneath him you immediatelyfeel this cold rush come out of
his back as something that youcan't see happens. You hear
sobbing again, interspersed withscreeches of pain and anger. Not

(01:08:46):
enough to do anything to you.
She's not a banshee. But yougrab six and begin trying to
drag him off. Go ahead andenroll that perception that
advantage. We're gonna we'regonna have it set your hearing
is going to be the best bet forthis.

Bruce (01:09:02):
I'm gonna like hear the waves in the water.

Tanner (01:09:04):
It's crashing against the side. Okay.

Bruce (01:09:08):
Advantage so I got let's see. Oh, no. Why is it ah,

Tanner (01:09:13):
it's gonna be a DC 16 It's pretty tough.

Bruce (01:09:16):
Well, I tied that with dice alone. So I got an 18
total. Oh, okay.

Tanner (01:09:20):
All right. So you're able to grab him and begin
maneuvering. Now since I didkind of change in my
description, the way thatpossession works I will allow
this to stand if you don't haveyour eyes open and you're not
paying attention to her you'retrying to walk off but you do
feel her pain as she follows youand you can feel this cold rush

(01:09:45):
against your back but you don'tfeel anything happened to you or
you know that based on you know, your your willpower you're
currently able to bolster offwhatever she's trying to do to
you As you continue on foranother 30 feet as you're trying

(01:10:06):
to move quickly, but are, ofcourse, hindered by not moving,
being able to move too fast. Andonce again, you can feel this
almost feels like someonetouching your back, but
incorporeal form the coldnessthat comes in contact with you.
That's a 19 two

Bruce (01:10:27):
hit. Okay, so I'm I'm okay. That's what I was trying
to say. So I'm still enragedthen technically, because I'm
still.

Tanner (01:10:35):
Yeah, I'm doing this based on combat turns. I'm just
assuming you're going to keepmoving and keep your eyes closed
as you move on. Yeah. Okay. Allright. Cool.

Bruce (01:10:43):
I could react. But I think I have to. Nope, I can't.
So that'll hit me because I haveto be able to see them. So.
Okay. All right.

Tanner (01:10:52):
So what's your health 34.
Alright, as you feel thesefingers sort of reach into your
back this cold spread throughyou, you can feel sort of just a
weariness pass over your bodyand you take eight t necrotic.

(01:11:18):
Damage.

Bruce (01:11:19):
Yes, that's about right.

Tanner (01:11:22):
As you know, as this this happens, you can you can
feel a brush of this, this fearand this pain sort of enter you.
And you continue moving on, I'massuming, correct. Okay. As you
continue moving on you, you canhear her sobs, like she's paused

(01:11:44):
behind you. And looking in adifferent direction for a
moment. So you're able to get alittle bit farther from her
before her attention turns backto you. And in this turn, she's
not able to get all the way andattack but you can tell she is
once again hovering at yourback.

Bruce (01:12:05):
But away from cars now.
Correct? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Backto Cerner. Cool. I opened my
eyes and I use a dash action.
Okay.

Tanner (01:12:13):
So you get you get moving and you go 160 feet is
your your dash.

Bruce (01:12:21):
is a double if it doubles that

Will (01:12:23):
Yes. Yes. Is are you dragging? No. Are you dragging
the six

Bruce (01:12:28):
I should back them up, if you want to see. So

Tanner (01:12:31):
yeah, do that to go ahead and give me an ethics

Bruce (01:12:33):
under dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt.

Tanner (01:12:38):
So this will just be to see if you can take the dash

Bruce (01:12:40):
action 20 nonnatural. Oh, wow. Okay.

Tanner (01:12:43):
All right. So you're able to hoist them over your
shoulders and you start making arun for it. You were about
halfway across this bridge whenthis occurrence happened. And
you're able to steadily stayahead of her and you're able to
carry him for the last mileacross this bridge and you hear

(01:13:03):
her slowly getting farther andfarther away from you. And
eventually you no longer hearher crying her screaming and you
no longer feel the chill of herat your back. As you make it
closer and closer to the farside of the of the wound and
towards the stairs. It is goingto be a long trek up here from

(01:13:29):
this direction, and as you startmaking the climb the sun is
setting but the sky has darkenedwith cloud coverage and this
very bad storm begins to roll inthis very heavy rain lightning
off in the distance you are ableto slowly make your way up the
steep stairs making every stepcareful as you're trying not to

(01:13:53):
slip off of this precipice andinto the into the wound itself.
And after a lot of effort youmake it up to the top of the
stairs all the way to the top ofthe wound and up to the other
side. Due to all this runningand carrying six like this for
so far you will take a point ofexhaustion for it. So exhaustion

(01:14:15):
is is a status fact that theplayers and PCs can take at one
level of exhaustion you getdisadvantage on ability chips
and if you under to your speedas have and then it just gets
worse from there. Archie youmake your way to the top of
these stairs on the other sideof the wound and the rain at

(01:14:35):
this point is coming down sohard in sheets that it stings as
you make your way from here youcan see illuminated in the
lightning, the tips of the wildpeaks and you make your way up
through the nearby tree line andmove to try and find somewhere

(01:14:58):
where you can find some restfind some cover, and hopefully
find a place with one means ofegress so that you can guard it
while you both get some muchneeded rest. Eventually you find
a cave and you lay six down onthe side of the wall.

Bruce (01:15:13):
And you're heavy fuck.

Tanner (01:15:16):
Yeah, he fucking is. A couple 100 pounds at least. And
you you build up a fire and youignite it and you have some
warmth and at this point six youyou begin to regain
consciousness.

Will (01:15:32):
Oh, thank god. No.

Bruce (01:15:36):
You're not fucking Oh,

Tanner (01:15:41):
thank you for like setting seven.

Will (01:15:44):
Archie, what happened?

Bruce (01:15:48):
Well, you did what I told you not to do. And you paid the
price for it. You looked at thething, whatever the hell it was.
And then I had to reset your bybonking on the head a couple
times. Actually not true. I didtry to avoid your head because I

(01:16:08):
know that that's where all yourprocessing is.

Will (01:16:11):
But don't don't forget I have a helmet. So you didn't
reset me and I truly remembereverything that was there. That
person has a lot of feelings,Archie. That was the most
intense feelings I've ever felt.

Bruce (01:16:29):
Yeah, they all were trying to kill me.

Will (01:16:32):
I don't know. I've got a lot to think about Archie. I
think maybe we should take awrist.

Bruce (01:16:40):
Absolutely. I'm fucking exhausted and fucking Bay may
look at me. Look at me. Fuck itclose.

Will (01:16:47):
Is this. I think this is the third time you've saved me
now. I want you to know how muchthat means to me. In case
anything else happens to me?

Bruce (01:16:57):
Just remember, I'll be collecting triple next time.

Will (01:17:00):
I don't have any either.
Well, I guess I do have somebecause I gave ranges. So I give
him all my either right now.

Bruce (01:17:09):
No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I've learned her lesson. You
owe me favors just like St.
Sebastian asked for. And I'llcollect on him when I need them.

Will (01:17:19):
Actually, that's what I'm good for. That's about all I'm
good for. Sometimes I feel thatway.

Bruce (01:17:27):
factoid six, don't get don't get there. Wait, can you
cry? Do you have to do tearducts?

Will (01:17:33):
If I could cry, I would be crying right now. That woman's
feelings. They were intense.

Tanner (01:17:44):
Alright, so Archie, passes out. You know, he luckily
got his bed roll out and he justcollapsed on it.
uncharacteristically, he hasleft his jacket on. And he is
sleeping in it. Typically you'dfold it up, put it off to the
side. He's so exhausted. He'sjust done. So

Will (01:18:08):
that's canonically how he sleeps and apparently sleep
talks now. So I mean, remember, this is all great. It's good.

Bruce (01:18:18):
To box up the mountain.
What is my name? Stanley. Oh,that's something.

Tanner (01:18:21):
Wow. All right. So it's a good modern reference.

Will (01:18:25):
What do you do? Six, six is gonna take us take a short
rest. And I'll tell you why.
Because he's going to spend histime thinking about it. I mean,
he's never felt any of thosefeelings before. And it was
pretty intense. And I'm tryingto decide, I think I know what
six is going to do next. But itmight be a bad idea. So I'm

(01:18:45):
gonna take a short rest. Channeldivinity heals me up. 10 And I'm
gonna I'm back up to 28 out of29 hit points. And okay. I'm
gonna Okay. I stand up. And I,first of all, I'm gonna write a

(01:19:05):
little note. Somewhere thatArchie could find

Bruce (01:19:11):
it well, I know what you're gonna do the note

Will (01:19:14):
Hold on, hold on. You probably do. So the note is
going to read. Archie. You aremy best friend. And I appreciate

Tanner (01:19:30):
you for not seeing a robot.

Will (01:19:34):
I appreciate you not seeing me as just the head in a
bag. Thank you for all that youdid. If you found this, I didn't
make it back. And he's going togo help the ghost.

Tanner (01:19:48):
Okay, okay. All right.
Um, you like Archie with yourpoint of exhaustion and just
being asleep? You don't noticeas six separates them. And, and
heads out of the cave back downto the rain. Six the rain hits
on your metal parts you makeyour way over, back over to the

(01:20:08):
stairs. you've regained somegood points you're you're
feeling a little bit better andyou're wanting to take this on
again. So you you head back downthe stairs.

Will (01:20:21):
So as I stand at the top of the stairs, the thought
crosses my mind for a briefsecond. Probably should have had
a heartbeat, rate or experience.
And then I shake that off andsay aloud. Well, here goes
nothing or Everything.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
