CONMEMORACIÓN DEL DESAFÍO DE LOS CABALLEROS DE CIEGOS A LOS LEONES POR HELEN KELLER
Presentado por: Consejo Americano de Leones Ciegos
Considerando que, el 30 de junio de 1925, en la Convención Internacional de Leones en Cedar Point, Ohio, Helen Keller lanzó un desafío a los Leones para que sirvieran como "Caballeros de los ciegos", y
Visto y considerando: Que, desde entonces, los Leones de los Estados Unidos y de todo el mundo han trabajado para erradicar la ceguera prevenible, proporcionando anteojos y exámenes de la vista, realizando exámenes de la vista, proporcionando equipos especializados, patrocinando campamentos y muchas otras actividades; y
Mientras que han pasado cien años desde que Helen Keller lanzó este desafío a los Leones.
Ahora, por lo tanto, resuélvase que el Consejo Americano de Ciegos en convención reunido virtualmente este día XX de junio de 2025 se una al Consejo Americano de Leones Ciegos para conmemorar los 100 años de los Leones que aceptaron el desafío de Helen Keller de servir como "Caballeros de los Ciegos".
Y resuélvase además que juntos instamos a los Leones a continuar su labor en nombre de las personas ciegas o con baja visión, trabajando con organizaciones de y para los ciegos no solo para prevenir la ceguera evitable, sino también para seguir el desafío de Helen Keller de "hacer que las vidas de los ciegos valgan más la pena en todas partes, aumentando su valor económico y brindándoles la alegría de la actividad normal".
Y resuélvase, además, que se envíe una copia de esta resolución a la Asociación Internacional de Clubes de Leones.
