El restablecimiento de los comités de la NLS

CONSIDERANDO QUE, el Servicio Nacional de Bibliotecas (NLS, por sus siglas en inglés) tiene un historial de interactuar con sus usuarios a través de encuestas, en convenciones de consumidores y en el uso de reuniones por Internet; y
CONSIDERANDO QUE, a partir de 2018, NLS redujo estas interacciones al suspender las reuniones presenciales del comité que se centraban en el desarrollo de la colección y cuestiones técnicas, y que incluían representantes de organizaciones de consumidores, bibliotecarios y usuarios de bibliotecas seleccionados; y
CONSIDERANDO QUE, estos comités formales facilitaron el intercambio de nuevas iniciativas y proporcionaron una plataforma para que los usuarios y bibliotecarios de todo el país plantearan problemas;
AHORA, POR LO TANTO, RESUÉLVASE, por el Consejo Americano de los Ciegos en convención reunida virtualmente este día XX de junio que nos unimos a los Usuarios de Bibliotecas de América (LUA) para instar enérgicamente a NLS a reanudar el uso de este enfoque de comité efectivo; y
RESUÉLVASE, ADEMÁS, que si bien se prefieren las reuniones en persona, se pueden considerar reuniones virtuales o híbridas; y
RESUÉLVASE ADEMÁS que se solicite a NLS que informe a ACB y Lua en la Convención ACB en 2026 sobre las decisiones tomadas en respuesta a esta resolución.
