Two previously unlikely friends, an ex-Mormon (Kate) and a never-Mormon (Erika) deconstruct the quirks and contradictions of the Mormon faith with humor and empathy. And cocktails.
To enter the Mormon Temple, a member needs a "recommend." In other words, one needs to be deemed "worthy" enough, and of course, the hefty tithing needs to be paid. God always needs money. While this flies in the face of everything espoused by Jesus (the man, the myth, the legend - however you conceive of this figure), it also doesn't seem to be quite worth it. Once members are "inside" and have the full Temple experience, many fe...
On his mission for the Mormon church, Bryan went to his bishop, distraught by some natural feelings he was having as a young man. Instead of normalizing this, the bishop asked him a humiliating question and shamed him.
In the last episode of "An ExMo and a NeverMo Walk Into a Bar...", Kate and Erika discussed the harmful messaging from the Mormon church around sex, and the damage that does to women. This episode looks at the harm that this messaging does to men. From being grilled about the verboten masturbation, to being shamed for having any sexual feelings whatsoever, the church does a number on men as well as women. This organization may ha...
The Mormon church teaches nothing but shame around sex. This leads to harmful ideologies and dangerously incorrect information. In this clip, Kate shares what she learned about sex from her parents. Spoiler: It's not remotely factual.
Though the title of this episode sounds a lot dirtier than it actually is, it deserves an explicit content warning as Kate and Erika talk about sex, baby.
The Two NoMos discuss the harm caused by purity culture, aka the law of chastity, as taught in the Mormon church. They're joined by an amazing local group of women who were also negatively affected by the church's shame on sex. Now out of this harmful organization, they can be...
It all comes down to money and power.
In this episode, Kate and Erika sit down with poet Kaitlin Shetler to discuss the similarities and differences between the church of Christ and the Mormon church.
General Conference has been described as, "Receiving a slap and then a kiss." Members are bombarded with messaging that they are not enough, that they will never be enough, and that they need the church to even have a chance at being enough, so they had better come back and stay forever. But they will probably still never be enough. All while they are being told how wonderful and glorious the experience is. Sounds like the tacti...
For many years, Kate was made to attend "General Conference," a large gathering of Mormons that happens twice a year.
Over this weekend, members are told they are worthless and that they need the Mormon church to make them whole, all while being bombarded with messaging that this is a wonderful, holy, sacred experience. This results in si...
In this episode, "Keep Sweet, Pray, and...NO WAY!", Kate and Erika discuss all the ways in which the Mormon church subjugates and oppresses women.
Here, we read a quote from Elaine Dalton when she was President of the Young Women's Organization, instructing women not to fight for their rights.
The Mormon church is racist AF. In this clip from Episode 11, "'White and Delightsome' Is Frightsome," guest Channel Achenbach shares one of the many stories of racism she experienced as a member of this organization. The racism is baked in. And it is prevalent.
In this episode, Kate and Erika welcome Channel Achenbach, a Black woman who converted to the Mormon church in her teens and experienced all kinds of racism, Mormon style. She shares the story of her exit from the church, and the strength she's found along the way, advocating for herself and her children with grace.

Shame is a centerpiece of the Mormon church. It is taught and it is taught young. Children are indoctrinated and programmed to shame and humiliate other children when they step out of line, so they can grow into adults who do the same. This is another cult control tactic that keeps members "behaving" and most importantly, PAYING TITHING.
Mormon church leadership discourages any reading outside of church-approved literature. Any critical thought is disparaged, and members are encouraged to turn their brains off.
When confined within the culture of the Mormon church, so much of life is unavailable to you. So much of life is...beige. Now that Kate has left the church, there is so much more she can enjoy. Now she lives her life in vibrant color, unshackled from the tedious rules and control tactics of the church.
In this episode, Kate & Erika explore life inside and outside of the Mormon faith. Inside, so much is verboten - R-rated content, intimate relationships, even coffee! Now that Kate has left the church, she is happy to live her life in full, blooming color instead of beige. And Erika, dirty heathen that she is, has always lived in vibrant color.
In this Episode, Kate and Erika sit down with the Fresh King Benjamin to discuss the fraud of the Mormon church. Joseph Smith, the first "prophet" of the church was a predator and should be condemned.
Many people have heard that Mormons won't drink caffeine. This is untrue. Mormons will GUZZLE caffeine. As long as it's not HOT caffeine, because their "health" doctrine instructs, "No hot drinks." So they will down a Mountain Dew but eschew green tea. HOWEVER, they wouldn't drink a COLD (NOT HOT) green tea, for unknown reasons, and they WILL drink HOT cocoa. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
In this episode, Kate & Erika interview guest Kambria Davis, who is the "Mormonist lesbian," an exMo, astrologer, and energy healer. Together, they talk about the church's harmful practices against the LGBTQ community and take a look into spirituality post-Mormonism, wealth, and woo. Kambria also gives Kate & Erika a birth (not bird) chart reading.
Be sure to follow Kambria on any of the following platforms:

The Mormon church is the best business model ever. Not only does this organization use cult tactics to coerce members out of their hard-earned cash, but in order for this coercion to work, the church needs to strip members of their self-worth and their ability to think critically. It is robbery in service to this 10% tithing. And everything is singularly focused to this end.
In this clip from episode one of "An ExMo and a NeverMo Walk Into a Bar...", given the choice between the dogma of the Mormon church or her child, Kate chose her child.
