I’m Amy Pierce. Aren’t You the Girl? is my true crime podcast based in Minnesota. It’s my mission to find every cold case or low profile case against young girls and women in my state specifically in the area I grew up in: Wright County. Each episode I’ll focus on a new area and different victims in hopes to revive some of the lowest priority cold cases across Minnesota into the digital world. Episode one starts my journey into researching cases and will tell the story of a suspected serial killer who was lurking in my backyard and the victims I’ve crossed investigating his spree. Cases will be told through family and friend interviews, police files, and archives to paint the most accurate picture of each victim possible. Join me as I uncover and tell the stories of the missing girls, the dead girls, and the silenced in Aren’t You the Girl? www.arentyouthegirl.com
One of Chicago’s Southside Strangler’s Gregory Clepper went on a murder spree from 1991 - 1996, possibly amounting to 40 victims.
Clepper lived in St. Paul for a time in the mid 1990’s; and had an obsession with sex workers in the area. One woman in particular was 1994 Wright County victim Victoria Morris.
Was he actually responsible for all of the crimes he admitted to or was he lying so his victim list could be higher and gain ...
Donald Blom was released back into society for the final time in the early 1990’s. A string of sexual assaults on young women occur in suburban parks. Holly Spangler was then found murdered after being assaulted in a park.
Could Donald be connected to this array of crime?
Katie Poirier is the only confirmed murder under Donald Blom’s criminal history. Investigators tried to get confessions for other cases he may be connected to but he refused to talk every time.
Donald however connected himself to one case decades before Katie’s case exposed him to Minnesota - the case of Wilma Johnson.
In May of 1999, 19 year old Katie Poirier went missing from a Moose Lake convenience store where she was working alone as a night clerk. A grainy black and white surveillance video captures a man with his arm at the back of Katie’s neck as he forces her out of the store.
What would unfold within the next few months would shock and disgust Minnesota along with the nation.

In August of 1974, a former classmate of Timothy Crosby’s was found stabbed to death. Yvonne Bye was only 18 years old when she became friends with two people who would plot to take her life brutally.
In December of 1974, Timothy spoke of her murder to his current abducted victim.
In 1965 in a quiet neighborhood on a late Summer night, a peeping Tom and repeat sexual offender took 14 year old Barbara Iversen from a home where she was babysitting two young children.
Today in Minnesota, the law that stems from her case is still a controversial topic.
In this episode I’ll be covering the abduction and murder of Barbara Iversen and the dangerous sexual offender law in Minnesota that’s keeping people like Timoth...
The son of a St. Paul police officer is a seasoned violent sexual offender by the age of 18. The deal he got after his first caught offense in 1974 solidified his freedom to roam the streets off and on from then to 2009. Leaving three suspected murdered or missing victims in Wright County alone.
