This week we review the 1951 American psychological thriller film noir Strangers on a Train produced and directed by Alfred Hitchcock, based on the 1950 novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith.
It was shot in late 1950, and released by Warner Bros. on June 30, 1951, starring Farley Granger, Ruth Roman and Robert Walker.
The story concerns two strangers who meet on a train, one of whom is a psychopath who suggests that they "exchange" murders so that neither will be caught.
The film initially received mixed reviews, but has since been regarded much more favorably.
In 2021, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
We welcome back The Doc - Doctor Andrew - as we were in some desperate need of intelligent debate and discussion.
We kick off with pet peeves "is it ok to park in front of a persons driveway?" and we ask "is it ok to walk straight into someones house uninvited regardless of how well you know them" ;
The Aussie finally appreciates why this masterpiece set the scene for later thrillers and the Scotsman can't help binging up our previous review of Duel - if you haven't listened the podcast that nearly ended Aussie and the Scotsman - check that one out!

Our previous guest Simon- a student of film - is referenced often and we find out that the Doc wanted desperately to be a movie director.
