Das bis zu 5 Meter unter Meeresspiegel liegende aus Schwemmland gebildete Tiefland ist an der Küste 70 Kilometer breit und wird von Dämmen vor Überflutung gesichert. Der angrenzende Teil des Landes ist ein flaches Hügelland, das bis zu 150 m hoch ansteigt. Zweidrittel der Landfläche nimmt das Hochland ein.

Brasilien 1.208 km, Surinam 726 km, Venezuela 650 km sowie 660 km Atlantikküste
Das gesamte Gebiet westlich des Rio Esquibo wird von Venezuela beansprucht. Die südl. Grenze am Fluss Corentyne zu Surinam
