In this episode The Three Poor Players start, what will certainly be, an ongoing exploration of “immediacy” in the work.

In his book WHAT ACTORS DO, Mike Alfreds describes this search for spontaneity as one of seven paradoxes that actors continually wrestle with.

Today, John works with two young artists and experiments with one way in which actors could encounter a text for the first time.

Along the way we look at how we can begin connecting the cues we get from our partners, the text and our own bodies, we discover that the whole process of acting can be a little less scary, and Jason tells us about the greatest moment of student acting he’s ever seen.

In Chris’s words: “This is FUN!”
