From being in the Care System, dealing with constant racism on North Manchester's roughest Council Estates to ending up in Strangeways Prison at 15, this was only marked the beginning of Darren Roberts' life of crime in Cheetham Hill during Manchester's infamous and ruthless Gang Wars in the 1990's. Now, having turned his life around and working to spread the message of the dangers of knife crime to support kids who may be heading down the wrong path, Darren's story serves as a cautionary tale of just how quick Gang life can descend into an unimaginable fight for survival on the streets. 'Bin The Blade' is the life of Darren Roberts in his own words for the first time on Podcast.
In this episode, Paddy and Darren delve into Darren's early years and the relationships and incidents that shaped his life going forward, before discussing one that leads to his first stint in an infamous place that no one wants to be.
