(00:00):
Welcome to the Christian Bible Study Ministry podcast.
As always, I start this program off with hoping that you are all blessed,
and no matter what might be going on in your life, I hope that you know that you're blessed.
I know sometimes things get down for us, you know, that we have a lot of adversity,
(00:20):
whether it be from other people or just the health circumstances in our life
or just whatever it might be.
So I pray that you all are blessed
and I know that every
time I go to church you know there's always prayer requests for different
things whether it be people having loved ones that are lost you know and uh
(00:43):
are people fighting diseases and other things and just anxieties and other and
other stuff like that so all this is stuff that the Lord already knew you know He knows the outcome,
and he's going to be there with you no matter what happens.
But today, we're going to cover the 1,000-year reign of Christ.
(01:07):
And so we're going to be looking at a few different passages from the Word here
today, both Old and New Testaments.
And we're going to try to look and see exactly what is the 1,000-year reign
of Christ and what is its purpose, what happens during the reign of Christ.
And these are some very fascinating things, which frankly, I don't think we could, I mean.
(01:29):
It's hard for us to imagine because the world has, you know,
because of the way that the world is.
So we're going to read the first one is going to be from Isaiah chapter 11,
verses six through nine.
It tells us that the wolf will live with the lamb.
The leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearlings
(01:50):
together. And the little child will lead them.
The cow will feed with the bear. Their young will lie down together and the
lion will eat straw like the ox.
The infant will play near the cobra's den, and the young child will put its
hand into the viper's nest.
They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will
(02:11):
be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.
Imagine that. You know, you go on YouTube, and I know I do this,
you know, and we find videos of how animals hunt and kill each other for their food.
And it's hard to imagine a wolf being
able to live with the lamb a leopard
(02:34):
lying down with the goat these in this
natural world now these are enemies they are pretty they are you know one is
the prey for the other the calf and the lion they will cohabitate and the little
child will lead them And that is the peace that is being described here.
(02:55):
And the lion will no longer be a carnivore. He'll eat straw just like the ox.
And can you imagine what would have to happen for an infant to be able to play
near a cobra's den and not be killed?
The Bible tells us that time is coming. There will be harm.
(03:16):
There will be no harm like there is in this world now.
The child will not be hurt by the viper.
The earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord.
And we're going to go into that more here. We go to Isaiah 35.1 now.
It tells us the desert and the parched land will be glad.
(03:39):
The wilderness will rejoice and blossom like the crocus. It will burst into
bloom. It will rejoice greatly, greatly and shout for joy.
The glory of Lebanon will be given to it. that the splendor of Carmel and Sharon,
and they will live, they will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our God.
You know, we see vast stretches of the earth that are desert.
(04:00):
And these, and yes, these regions of the world are beautiful.
They have their own beauty to them.
But I think we'll, but I think what the word is telling us here,
that, you know, if there are deserts in the new, in the restored world,
that they will not be the same as they are now.
It will not be the harsh environment that we, we know them to be now.
And, And it says that the glory of Lebanon will be given to it.
(04:23):
Lebanon in ancient times was known for its tall trees, its beautiful cedar trees.
And so that tells us something about what the environment will be like in that time.
Revelation 11, 18, the nations were angry, and your wrath has come.
The time has come for judging the dead and for rewarding your servants and prophets,
(04:44):
and your people who revere your name, both great and small, and for destroying
those who destroy the earth.
The earth is going to be cared for and restored by the Lord.
He does not take kindly to people hurting the environment, intentionally hurting
the environment, because it's his creation. We don't have a right to destroy it.
The dead will be judged.
(05:06):
The servants will be rewarded. And the prophets will be rewarded.
And the people who revere his name, we will be rewarded.
It this is part of the
coming kingdom you know we will be judged i believe possibly you know we will
be judged according to our deeds and stuff before the millennial reign you know
(05:28):
if it's after you know then we still get judged and we receive our reward for
things you know whether it be good or bad that we did.
And the nations were angry at this time, and the wrath of the Lord came,
and the Lord has restored.
He will have restored the world to peace.
(05:51):
Psalm 98, verses 6 through 8.
With trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn, shout for joy before the Lord, the King.
Let the sea resound and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.
Let the rivers clap their hands. Let the mountains sing together for joy.
The entire creation, the entire world, the entire physical world will be glad
(06:16):
that this restoration has come because they are not.
The rivers and the mountains and all that stuff that we have now that's present
in the world, they're not the way that they were originally intended to be,
you know, because of sin and corruption.
You know, we have defiled this world through sin. in
and the sea and everything in
(06:36):
it the world and all who live in it will rejoice with the
knowledge that the king has come
he is ruling and the world will no longer suffer as it has for so many millennia
now and the final passage we're going to read is revelation 21 8 it says then
i saw a new heaven and a new earth for the first heaven and the first earth
(06:59):
had passed away and there There was no longer any sea.
I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,
prepared as a bride, beautifully dressed for her husband.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Look, God's dwelling place
is now among the people, and he will dwell with them.
They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.
(07:22):
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning
or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. Thank you.
He who was seated on the throne said, I am making everything new.
Then he said, write this down for these words are trustworthy and true.
(07:43):
Excuse me, I thought I was going to go to verse 8, but we just went through verse 5.
So we have here a description of the 1,000-year reign of Jesus Christ here on earth.
So what is the purpose? Well, no, first of all, what is this reign?
My belief is, from what the Bible tells us, it is a literal 1,000-year reign.
(08:04):
And this comes after the defeat of the Antichrist and the false prophet,
who will be thrown into the lake of fire.
And so you figure this, seven years of the worst hell or trouble that the earth
has ever seen, followed by 1,000 years of times that it has never experienced, really.
(08:25):
And probably it's the closest thing to it that it had ever experienced was in
Eden, you know, upon creation.
And physically speaking, environmentally speaking, we had that until the flood.
But, you know, there was an enormous amount of sin involved in that.
So we have a 1000 year literal reign of Christ where Jesus is reigning from Jerusalem. Right.
(08:50):
And so what is the purpose of this ring, you know, we might ask?
The purpose of it is to show us life with Jesus Christ, you know,
and then to fulfill the various prophecies, you know, that Israel was supposed
to occupy a certain amount of land and other things.
And also one thing that is very notable about this time period is that Satan
(09:13):
is cast into the bottomless pit.
It he will no longer be allowed you know for
1 000 years he will not be allowed to do anything he will
have no information on the outside world
he will not know what's going on he will not be able to tempt anybody and so
we will have 1 000 years without satan that is also the purpose you know that
(09:37):
is the purpose of him being imprisoned is to show us just how great and awesome things.
Are without the devil there to cause trouble and it
also tells us that after 1 000 years the devil
will be released and what is the point in
this some people have asked and i've it is to
basically show that even
(09:59):
in the absence of the great tempter that man's heart
is still wicked and they are
going to also have a choice to make they're going to have to
choose to accept except basically satan or
jesus christ and satan will gather the
nations of the world in a vast army for a
final rebellion his final stupid attempt to
(10:21):
usurp the throne of god and you
know the bible doesn't tell us here if it is a
a majority of the world or or what
but it just says that they are vast their numbers are like the grains of sand
on this the beach so but you know again it could very well be that they are
in the minority you know you know remember the population of the earth will
(10:44):
be very great at this time due to the ideal environmental circumstances.
And the tragic thing is this that even after 1 000 years of seeing and knowing
jesus christ personally,
that so many people will still make that choice to reject him.
(11:05):
And I know this is going to be kind of a short program here,
but this just shows you the eternity and the immense patience of God. You know, he is.
You know, just all these different characteristics. And one of them is patience and mercy.
(11:26):
And his patience is almost eternal. I'm going to go say that.
I'm going to take that back. His patience is almost eternal.
There is a limit and there is a time that he has set for the final judgment.
And even throughout all of history, he has given us so many chances to come
to him. He has given the human race so many chances to come to him.
(11:51):
It's just mind boggling.
And this 1000 year reign will be the final chance for humanity as a whole to
have people be redeemed.
We must then, as we have had to in the past, make a choice to accept Jesus Christ.
(12:11):
And for 1,000 years the Lord
will show us the absolute greatest things in this
world that he can show us in this world by restoring the world and by seeing
all these amazing things that we never would have comprehended or imagined we
are going to see what it is like to have heaven on earth nobody will have any
(12:34):
excuse whatsoever as to why they rejected Christ.
So I want to end this program now with just a prayer You know,
first of all, Lord God, I pray that if anyone is listening to this and they're
lost, I pray that they would sense your presence,
sense you knocking on their door and just open up to you and accept Christ.
Now, all they have to do is yield to you and they will be baptized in your Holy Spirit.
(12:58):
And I pray that this is enlightened somebody, at least one person with knowledge
on the future, you know, and what, you know, and how just great and magnificent you are.
With all these chances that you've
given us and with all what you have planned for doing to this world.
And it's in Jesus' name we pray this, Lord. Amen.
