Pastor Steve Heron begins our series on the book of Philippians and preaches from Philippians 1:1-2.
This week, we begin the book of Philippians, a letter filled with warmth and joy written to a group of people who are arguably Paul’s most faithful church. In verses 1:1-2, Paul introduces himself and hints at the truths yet to come in his letter. Here we see a vision of a healthy church, rich in theological depth and personal application. In two sentences, Paul packs theological freight into key terms. We are reminded of our own high calling as God’s people in relationship to the church, and our identity as New Testament believers. In short, Paul reminds us who we are, why we’re here, and that confidence before God that shapes our lives.
