Can AI Dungeon Master better than a human?!

 

This week Casey and Michael hand over the reigns to our future AI Overlord, Chat GPT, to see what D&D will be like in the not too distant future when the robots have taken over. 

Adventure Setup:

• Dungeon Master (DM): ChatGPT
• Players: Casey as Detective Lestrange, a cynical lawman on a mission, and Michael as Deputy Carlisle, his loyal yet nervous deputy.

Story Summary:

Setting: The haunted village of Ravenswood, shrouded in mist and mystery, with a cursed inn and eerie forest

• Detective Lestrange and Deputy Carlisle arrive in Ravenswood, tasked with investigating strange disappearances linked to a powerful artifact hidden in the haunted woods.
• Challenge: As they explore the village and woods, they confront villagers, ghosts, and ChatGPT’s surreal responses, often finding their only way forward is to push ChatGPT with unorthodox and absurd commands.

Key Scenes:

1. Meeting the Villagers:

   • 03:0] - Detective Lestrange and Deputy Carlisle gather rumors from the villagers, who warn them about the haunted inn and the eerie noises that come from the woods.
   • 06:00 - They learn of a hidden artifact tied to a curse that has haunted the village for generations.

2. Exploring the Inn:

   • 10:00 - The duo checks into the haunted inn, where strange whispers and a creaking staircase lead them to a mysterious room. Deputy Carlisle breaks a mirror, revealing a hidden compartment with a key and a map.

3. The Haunted Woods:

   • 19:00 - Using the map, they make their way to the woods, guided by a wary old man. They discover an altar with carvings indicating a powerful seal holding back an ancient darkness.

4. The Wizard’s Tower:

   • 28:00 - After obtaining the artifact, they consult an eccentric wizard in a tower who warns them of the danger in removing the artifact, claiming it’s the only thing keeping the dark curse contained.

5. Power Play at the Saloon:

   • 35:00 - Back at the village saloon, Detective Lestrange and Deputy Carlisle confront a shadowy figure demanding the artifact, who they promptly restrain and add to their ever-growing entourage of intimidated townsfolk.

Climax:

• 43:00 - Confronted by a shadowy darkness that approaches the saloon, they gather the villagers to “blend in” as zombies. Deputy Carlisle hurls the artifact at the darkness, temporarily trapping it and restoring calm to the village.
