Welcome to the Conquer Your Mountains
Week 19 podcast titled Shifting Your Shape Until a Legend Emerges.
If you are following the Conquer Your Mountains reading plan,
you are in Week 19 that has the name Psalms, creating in me a pure heart.
I am Mandla Moyo, the author of an inspirational book called Conquer Your Mountains,
(00:25):
as well well as a science fiction book called The Fallen Angel.
In today's episode, I want to share something interesting that I came across
when I was writing Conquer Your Mountains, which is about the mental shape that
can give you the tools to become a legend.
I will read and discuss five exciting scenes from my book, Conquer Your Mountains.
(00:47):
Let's kick off. In week 19 of Conquer Your Mountains, on page 65,
the journey talks about five different shapes that you can have in your extraordinary
journey, where you overcome mere existence and become something more,
a force of nature, a symbol, a legend.
I'm sure we all want to become legends.
(01:10):
Each shape reveals a new form, a new revelation.
Listen in as ordinary narratives translate into extraordinary sagas,
and the mundane becomes magical.
Welcome to a world where change is the currency and wonder is the reward.
Before I start, I want you to imagine a box of Lego pieces that you might have
(01:34):
played with as a child or with your children.
When you looked at these Legos, you created a fictional character and you imagined
what amazing things that character might do.
So our five shapes today that I want you to play with, General,
a Bull, a Drill, a Superhero, and an Eagle.
(01:56):
I'll say that again. A General, a Bull, a Drill, a Superhero, and an Eagle.
As we go through today's episode, I'll want you to imagine which of those represent you.
What I want to do today is to create a moment of change, a pivotal moment.
(02:17):
Whether your last week has been one of triumph, of setback, or a game-changing
encounter, I'd like you to decide which of these shapes hold a profound insight for you.
Beneath your public face, what part of your life remains hidden?
I want you to explore your personal passions or vulnerabilities abilities to
(02:38):
reveal the layer that could make you more than a title and more than a role.
Let's start with a general.
Conquer Your Mountains, page 65 reads as follows.
He say to me, I saw you as a general in my armies. On your uniform, you had medals of honor.
I saw on your head that you had the helmet of salvation and you had the rest of my armor.
(03:04):
I looked at your eyes, and you could see through the Spirit.
One eye was yellow, and the other was dark blue. The dark blue on the left symbolizes
peace, and the yellow on the right symbolizes the Holy Spirit.
I looked at your hands, and one hand was called power, and the other was called strength.
I filled you with lightning bolts on your arms.
(03:28):
With your hands, you could release lightning bolts.
So what does the general mean? Here are my thoughts. As a general,
you are normally adorned with medals of honor.
You stand at the helm of armies. Your uniform bears the weight of responsibility,
and your decisions shape destinies.
Your pivotal moment this week is to unravel the complexities of leadership,
(03:52):
the courage, the sacrifice, and the unwavering commitment to a cause that is
greater than yourself. self.
And being a general could apply if you're the leader of a company,
the leader of a business unit, the leader of your family, any form of leadership
where you assume a general role.
(04:15):
Number two is the bull. And reading from my book again, it says, I saw you as a bull.
A bull can't help what it is, for it just bumps things and people out of the way.
You were in full charge, bumping enemies left and right, and then you bumped the devil out of the way.
(04:37):
End of extract. So what does that mean? Well, a bull sounds like it represents brutal power.
In the dusty arena, winner. As a bull, you charge with raw strength, primal strength.
The bull, unyielding and unapologetic, embodies raw power.
But perhaps there's more to this beast than meets the eye.
(05:01):
Your shift to a legend will be determined by how you reveal the hidden grace,
the quiet determination and the indomitable spirit that resides within.
And it's strange to see a bull like that and And often, you could be in a role
where you have to demonstrate a strong persona.
(05:22):
You're the one that shifts the big obstacles in your work or home environment.
It's time for you to reveal the hidden grace and the quiet determination and
the spirit that is within you without sacrificing the underlying strength that
you have to face mountains.
(05:45):
Let's move on to number three. Number three is the drill. What does Conqueror
Mountain say about that?
It says, I saw you as a drill, an enormous drill as big as a mountain.
I was using you to break through the concrete, to open up the concrete so that it can be removed.
For only once the concrete is removed can I plant.
(06:09):
And once I plant, lush green plants will grow in many people's hearts. End of extract.
So reflecting on that, if you are a drill, you are a concrete breaker.
A colossal drill that grinds through barriers, shattering concrete walls that
confine us, the walls that hem us in when we are trying to be more than we are.
(06:35):
You are that unstoppable force. You are the one who can create pathways where
no path existed before. for.
Because as a drill, your breakthrough is in delving into moments that will shatter
limitations, leaving a trail of possibility.
Not a trail of destruction, but a trail of possibility in your wake.
(07:00):
If you're a drill, my analogy could mean that you're an entrepreneur.
You're a pioneer in what you do. You are breaking new ground.
You are moving into uncharted territory and doing things that people thought were not possible.
So think of the big inventors, the people who invented the computers,
(07:23):
the Walkmans in the old days that became the modern version of a Walkman.
All of those people were pioneers and in a way they were like drills.
They were leaving a trail of possibility in their wake.
And we of those who have come after them have built on that legacy of breaking barriers.
(07:46):
And then number four. Number four is the superhero.
So going back to a Lego analogy, this superhero could look like an Avenger superhero. It could look like.
A hulkman, whatever you think of that represents the superhero in your life.
So the description on page 65 is one of my favorites.
(08:08):
It says, I saw you as an agile superhero with the ability to leap from place to place.
You had a bow and arrow and you were shooting deep into the heart of enemy territory.
The arrows fired were not ordinary ones, but they were like atomic missiles
that could destroy multiple and entire strongholds at once.
(08:33):
You were able to fire the arrows at extremely long range to targets that seemed unreachable.
End of that extract. So what is a superhero like?
If you imagine a superhero with boundless agility, they can leap across rooftops,
defying gravity. The cityscape is your canvas, and justice is your brushstroke.
(08:58):
As a superhero, you embody heroism, a sense of sacrifice, a strong moral compass,
and an unwavering commitment to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
In the work environment, a superhero is not necessarily the inventor or the
entrepreneur, but they are the ones who come after them.
(09:21):
They're the ones who actually make things possible that others thought were not possible.
They're the ones who give of themselves long hours, utmost dedication to their work, and,
Day in, day out, 24-7, doing what they can, not just to help themselves,
(09:42):
but to help the communities and the businesses around them.
Do you think you are that superhero persona?
Hold that thought for a second. And let's look at number five.
Number five is the eagle.
So if we turn the page to page 66 in Conquer Your Mountains,
(10:03):
it says, I saw you as an eagle soaring high in the sky.
You had very long-range vision, and you were struggling to express yourself,
as you were seeing from afar things that were not yet visible to anyone else.
You talked of things that were not yet there, things further than others could
(10:23):
see, and they came to pass.
And like Elijah, you could see the small cloud forming far in the distance.
End of extract. And this is my interpretation.
As an eagle, you're so high above the world, your wings are stretched out and
you survey the landscape.
(10:44):
An eagle embodies vision.
You have an ability to see way beyond horizons, to find patterns in chaos.
If you believe you are the eagle, your change moment is when you explore your
farsightedness And some people might think being farsighted is a weakness,
but in this case it's your strength.
(11:05):
You don't see the near things, the daily grind that can trap you into a life of boring existence.
You see far, and you have a capacity to envision futures that are yet uncharted,
and the wisdom that comes from soaring at great heights.
(11:26):
As we close, you might ask me, what shape are you, Mandla?
Are you the general, the bull, the drill, the superhero, or the eagle?
I'd say a bit of all of them. At the moment, I'd say the eagle.
I'm often dreaming of big plans, dreaming of things that seem far away and remote
(11:49):
and perhaps not possible yet.
But as an eagle, I look at this potential and I think perhaps it could come to pass.
Perhaps in all the chaos that I see in business, there's a pattern emerging.
If I study it fully, maybe that pattern will show itself as an answer.
(12:14):
So my challenge to you is to ask yourself, what shape are you?
Are you a general, a bull, a drill, a superhero, or an eagle?
Think of that shape and use that to create a pivotal moment.
As I said earlier, I'm introducing you to a world where change is the currency
(12:37):
and wonder is the reward.
It's time to leave your routine existence and move into a world where the unimaginable becomes possible.
Music.
