It's a cold June night in Samford, QLD, Australia, 1913, and father of five James Mitchell is out looking for his daughter, Ivy, who hadn't returned from a play date with her friend. Her friend lived on a neighbouring farm and Ivy had made the short walk home many times beforehand, so her father was worried that she had not returned home. Two sets of footprints led James to the local school and there, hidden in the scrub and winter cold, lay the body of his precious daughter who had been brutally murdered.
Ivy's killer is quickly identified, charged and convicted and he is soon hanging from a noose in Boggo Road Jail. Unbeknownst to him at the time, he would be the last man to be hanged in the state, and unbeknownst to locals and cellmates, he would be the oldest ghost said to haunt the jail, which still stands today.
Join Belinda over a strong cuppa or two as she discusses the heartbreaking 1913 murder of 11 year old Ivy Mitchell, the man who took her life and his ghost who supposedly haunts where he took his last breath. A must listen for fans of true crime and ghost stories.
