The simplesecret to growing your business.
(00:02):
We all know, but we don't do.
I know it sounds crazy,
but when I say you're going, gonna be like, oh, that's super easy.
Why is it a secret momentumbuilding activities that are consistent?
Again, it's so simplethat you're probably going to like,
should I even continue to listen to this?
you're honest with yourselfand I mean really honest,
you probably don't have the momentumin your business
you want, you're definitelynot as consistent as you should be.
(00:23):
let's talk about that.We have some tips for you.
Your stories, your experiences can change it all.
Let's fight until you're together.
We can defeat 90.
so if you're here listening to this, then you, you probably stuck around
because you realized that momentumbuilding activities can actually have
significant impacton the growth of your business.
(00:44):
I think for us to really startingto dive into this topic,
we have to think about whathow do businesses grow?
Now there is this myth, what I call a myth
because everybody wants this instantgrowth overnight, right?
Instant success.
And so funny.
I even like today I was like, okay, let's let's get some stats on this.
I couldn't find stats. I used ChatGPT,I used it all.
(01:06):
And it's basically like, this is such a literally ChatGPT
you told me ChatGPT told me it was a mythin most cases, what I was finding
was that most of the businesswe say that our instant success
is actually were afterthey had failed a bunch and learns
before from a bunch of other waysof doing business,
and then it just worked into this thing.
the reality is business growth slow.
(01:28):
And I knownone of us want to hear that, right?
Because we're putting so much onlinewith risking so much to grow our business.
really, growth in businessis more like a hockey stick where
it starts here and then all of a suddenit can take off like that.
And I, I believe with all my heartthe reason why building
that momentum are so importantis because that growth compounds.
(01:50):
So you start here and then all of a suddenthat adds and that adds and that adds.
And also before you know it
then it compounds to where it justit jumps so much at a time.
The reason why we don't do the things like
we need to in our business is
because we,we try so hard to skip over things,
and we try to get the instant effectversus doing the boring,
(02:13):
consistent stuffthat we all know over time.
A work.
So before I jump deeper into this videoat the end this video, I'm going to go
through ten thingsthat hinder you from being consistent.
And Henry, you from having momentum.
So stick around for that.
But I want to build into thatbecause I think there's a lot
there's a foundationwe have to build that supports this idea
(02:34):
of building momentumand building that consistency.
So one of the key parts is sitting aroundwhere I said
momentum building activities.
I want you to hear is building activity.
So there's a difference between actions
that are actually building things towardsyour goal of growing your business,
growing, doing so, being successful,
(02:55):
and things that don't seems obvious.
But yet in our day to daylife of being business
owners, there's so many things that we dothat actually don't further
our goals.
And what's dangerous about that is
we get done, we get at the end of this day
and we're just like,oh my gosh, I'm so exhausted.
(03:16):
And I've been I've been there.
I'm actually struggling with thatright now because there's so much stuff.
And launchingthis new company of things that
they're important,but they're not important
and they're not actually helping meget to the goal.
And before I know it, my day is gone.
And I didn't actually get anything donethat actually helped me
reach and obtain thingstowards being successful with this.
(03:40):
And it's so easy to do to let the noiseand the lack of distractions.
one of the things I want to get into onthis is that it's easy to lose
focus on these activitiesthat will reach your goal,
because we don't write them down.
We don't take the time to change.
really think throughwhat are things that are critical
to our growth and what things are not.
(04:00):
And by simplyjust putting that writing that down
and getting that and a placewhere we can practically
start doing those activities,
it will make a huge differenceinstead of just going there.
Okay, what fire should I put out next?
I think that's that's been my a huge partof what I've screwed up
in business is that I feel likeI'm always putting out fires,
(04:22):
and I'm always doing the urgentover the important.
Sometimes they overlap, but most of the time it's, I think
like think about, okay, even if,you know, if you're a client or a customer
facing business
where you have like people that you docustomer service with, how many?
Yes, you want to keep your customer happy,
but sometimes the
expense of getting the things you needto get done to serve your other customer.
(04:45):
So how do you handle those things?
How do you
put things in placeto keep yourself on track?
And I think that's one of the thingsof having a really solid to do list of
these are five things, and I know it'sgoing to sound crazy or do three things.
Or maybe if you're an overachiever,do ten.
But I guarantee you, if you could evenjust focus on three things
(05:07):
every single day that are movingyou towards your goal,
you'll be that much closer becausethree becomes six becomes nine becomes 12.
And you see how that hockey stick startsto grow because we start doing the actions
and things that are moving the ballforward versus not.
yes, that sounds simple. Yes, Jeremy. That's great.
(05:28):
I understand that I sometimes do that,
but life happensand I don't know how to deal with that.
So I think there's a word that Ireally think we need to work on together.
Okay.
No. Oh, that was hard to say.
Actually.
No, it wasn't an oh, no.
(05:52):
Sometimes we just have to say no.
And if you continue to sayyes to everyone, then you're saying no.
Anyways, that's the thing. We don't. We?
That's the thing we have to realize
that sometimes we don't want to say no.
Sometimes we want to disappoint people, sometimes
we don't want to do those things.
But every time you say yes, there'sonly a finite amount of time in the day
(06:13):
and there's only a finite amount of thingsyou can actually accomplish,
so you're going to say noto something you might as well say no to.
Things are actually not helpingyou reach your goals.
Now, the next part ofthis is stop making excuses.
We make excuses and that's somethingbecause we're like, well,
(06:34):
this person represents this much businessand this is done.
We come up with everything and that'sfine, but put boundaries around this.
That's what those two dudesare about going, no matter what,
I'm going to cut through all the noise.
I'm going to cut throughall the distractions,
and I'm going to do these things.
And even if it means, hey, I'm, I'm
(06:55):
can't reach me for the first three hoursa day and you knock those things out.
Now you can dealwith all the other stuff, right?
But the thing is, if you don't startbuilding your life around
doing the things that actually buildmomentum, where are you going?
So that's the thing is we we we wonder whywe get stuck in business, right?
We we we look at ourselvesand why our business isn't growing.
It's flat.
It's sometimesgoing on decline. We're like,
(07:19):
I'm working my butt off,
but I'm stuck and I'm going nowhere. Why?
Because the activities you're doing
aren't creating momentum,
and that's something that I think we needto stop and really think about that.
This next pointthat's really, really, really important
(07:41):
is I think we've all heard of Newton'sfirst law of motion.
I think that applies to momentum, too.
And how we do business.
So Newton's law says whatever is in motion
or whatever least I can write this down.
An object in motion stays in motionunless something interacts
with it,either to stop it or push it forward.
And it talks about this ideathat it stays in a consistent.
(08:04):
State of motion until it's affected.
So the reason I,I believe in this law of momentum
is what I call itif you've not started doing things
that are growing the momentum, then you'reyou're not moving at all.
If you are moving, but you continue to do things
that are now slowing you down, then eventually you come to a stop.
(08:26):
But if you're doing things that buildyour momentum, build your momentum
and build your momentum, all of a sudden you're going the fast
speed of growth you're wanting.
But it started out really slow.
It started out when doing the consistent, which we're getting into the consistent
things that actually give you momentum.
(08:48):
So if you're feeling stuck today,
I want you to go push a ballor something.
I don't know, somethingthat roll or something
and just see something move
and realizeyou did something to make it move.
And then if you really want to go fast, push it really fast
and you're going to see it go faster.
(09:09):
So let's let's stopreal fast and kind of recap.
So the idea right now is
we have to start realizingthat we have to put constant
thought and guard our time to make surewe're doing momentum building activity.
We have to realize thatwe have to say no to some things,
so we can say yesto things that need to happen.
(09:30):
Stop making excusesand realize the law of omentum
is there is an actual effect
of what our actions do or don't do thatwe have to take responsibility.
So we're getting really closeto these ten things that hinder us.
There are barriersto us having that momentum,
having that growthAnd so we're getting there.
But I want to talk through the ideaof why consistency is so important.
(09:51):
When we talk about momentumbuilding things.
Now you might be thinking, okay, Jeremy, you've talked about these activities
that I can do to actually growmy business towards
my goals or my dreams or wherever it is,but I don't know what they are.
And I would say most of us
know some of the thingsand we're still not doing those things.
And yes, there might be things we don't know.
(10:13):
And the reason why I bring this upthere is this
I don't know if this is somethingI've been stuck
in, and I'm just being really honestwith you right now.
I've been stuck in this place
of trying to figure out everythingabout growing things on YouTube
and TikTok and all these other thingsof how to get traction.
Because yes, I can create all thisgreat content, but of no one ever sees it.
I can't help anybody.
(10:34):
And so I've gotten this placewhere I continue
to just and analyze and watch this videoand do this and do that
all the whileI'm actually not doing anything.
So thereforeand not pretty enough videos out.
So therefore I'm not actually doingmomentum building activities.
So defeat nasty as this as I'm starting ais not actually growing like it should be
(10:58):
because I'm actually
not doing the activitiesand I'm being fully transparent in that.
And I think
sometimes we get so
stuck and have to make the right moveor whatever it is, that
we don't move at all, and we don't evenrealize we're not moving because we think,
because I'm watching this videos, I'mmaking momentum, I'm doing something
that's really not momentum.
how do we figure those things out?
(11:20):
And I think where it comesfrom is consistent.
consistency is not about just doing right.
It is.
But it's about learning okay.
So it's about shot on goal right.
If you take 100 shotsyou have 100 chances.
More of scoring.
(11:42):
You have 100 chances of more ofhey if that shot doesn't work,
fixing your shot, have 101 hundred shotsof how to play defense or,
or play better offenseagainst your defense that's attacking you.
Do you have more opportunities?
So now if you take that 100 and yougo to a thousand times shots on goal,
(12:03):
the you have even more data to be ableto understand where you're going.
So when I say that,
maybeyou don't know what those actions are,
well, you know, if you do those do a lot of it.
And as you do that, you're going to startgetting more and more data
and figuring out what's working, what's not working.
(12:24):
And over time, what's crazy is you're end up having
more success this year that in business.
Really, what businesses that grow do
is they have
a lot of shots and goal and they learn,
okay, this thing worksand they do more of it,
and then this thing doesn't workand you do less of it.
And overall they get a better strategyand a better understanding of okay,
(12:47):
this is what I need to doto grow the business.
But if you're always analyzingwithout doing,
you have nothing to really analyzeand you're just stuck
because you're not moving forward.
consistency is something that is tied inwith the momentum.
You can't
again, you can't have momentumif you want to fast or momentum,
(13:09):
you have to put a forceand action with it,
which means you have to be consistent.
You have to do the thingif you go up and down at that.
So and a lot of times.
So here's the thingwe don't think about when we go up.
Let's say weI produced let's use me as example.
I produced 1520 videos
a day. Right.
Because I'm trying to get out thereand then all of a sudden
I drop off and I don't post for two weeks,and then I'll do 15, 20 videos.
(13:32):
We already know that consistencyis really important with posting,
so people can build a rapport with youand get to know you and
and have trustin what you're doing, right.
That's the same thing with our customers.
When we do things and we're not consistentand we go
and we do this thing for a while, and then we stop doing it,
and then we do it for a whileand we stop doing it.
(13:52):
They don't, they don't.
It really affects things.
What to do.
The consistency startsto build the momentum.
And so there's powerand there's there is focus
in that of focusing on what's importantand moving forward into it.
Now some of you guys are saying, well,I struggle with consistency
and that's been me. Okay.
So my biggest thing in entrepreneurshiphas been discipline.
(14:14):
Now granted, I'm learning now
some of that is tied to my ADHD and thingsthat I'm actually now getting things
and abetter place in that because I understand
more about me and my my weaknesses, and I'm being fully transparent in that.
But the reality, one of themy favorite books of all time
is called Atomic Habits, and it proposesthis idea that we are all undisciplined.
(14:35):
So when you see that person, you're like me,
the top guy,and that woman has their act together.
Holy cow, I wish it could be them.
The reality is, he says, that
for every person, we're all not greatat this self-discipline.
They just have a system in placeto keep them disciplined.
And that's where consistency really fallsoff, is you have to have the tools
(14:58):
and the things to keep you going.
And I have been throughso many different project management
tools and all of these other things.
I've finally found something with AI,
that really is helping meand keeping things in my forefront
and building out my assistantand all this other stuff.
the reality is,if you don't have the system in place
(15:19):
to keep you on track aboutbeing consistent, you probably won't.
But when you start looking at the painof not being consistent,
and you look at the pain of howconsistency affects momentum,
and when you're not having momentum,what you're you're
your business is either going to stopor go backwards or die.
Then finding a way to have this
is really important.
Now you're going to be like, well, I'm like, man,
(15:41):
as soon as I get to the office,I mean, I get hit with this and that,
this and that.
And again, excuses.
And I think at the end of the day,
what's important is either importantor it's not.
It's either it's important or it's not.
Guys, come on, it's not rocket science.
The thing is, is we have to get system.
(16:02):
We have to get the thingsthat we really want
to have happen in place, protect us from human things.
Because I guarantee if you don't,you won't do it.
so we get to the part and you probably, hopefully you have all been waiting for
the top ten barriers stop usthat you really need to be aware of
because it's these things along the lines.
We've talked about a little of themthrough here
that really help hindering youfrom actually doing the work
(16:24):
and being consistent.
And we all know that.
Again, I think you guys, I can understandthe value of how truly important
that moment and building activities
and consistentis to grow in your business.
So areas of consistency,we're going to start with that.
Five areas for that.
The first onelack of focus. We've talked about that.
Like so much of the time was we don'twe don't have focus on what we need
(16:47):
to be doing and having a system in placeto focus, to do those.
We get let things in that like distracted.
Second is tied intothat is a lack of a plan.
We don't have a plan in place.
there has to be something that you going
and moving forward on thatthis is something else to you.
So let's say you work on your focusor you struggling with okay.
(17:10):
And you have a plan and you're strugglingwith figuring out the plan,
having accountability, having someone to do this with you,
whether that be someone in your company
and if you're just you, if you'rejust a solo preneur find a friend.
I have a friend that I talk to weekly
that we keep each other accountableabout the things
that are moving our business forward, and we're working on that together
(17:33):
so we don't have to do that alone.
And I think that's where I don't likemy heart behind the collective.
And what we're goingeventually building out to you
is finding those people
that we can talk to you and helpkeep us consistent in things we need to.
You guys aren'twe are not going to like me
after I say this, but this is a real thing.
We're just lazy.
Like, somehow we got into businessand we just thought, oh,
(17:53):
everything is just going to be simpleand oh, it's great.
And then it's hard and we're like,oh, I don't want to do that.
But I wantto dive even further from that laziness
because sometimes I don't thinkit's even really just a laziness.
But there's something brokenin our motivation inside of us,
broken in our why.
And that's one last pointI want to pull out of
(18:16):
when it comes to being self-disciplined,being consistent.
That talks about atomic habits.
Everything has a stem from your why,
and if your why is not strong enoughto overcome your laziness,
there's something there.
It's a disconnect it.
And I think you really need to take a look
because it's somethingI've had to deal with.
So I've been through a lot in my life, and some of the things I've been facing is
(18:40):
there's been a lot of peoplethat have not been the greatest,
not the kindest to me and have said thingsthat are very hurtful.
And through that,my self-worth has taken a hit
in that
that has perpetuated and created thingsoutside in my life, in business
that hindered me when I start being lazy.
And I do have those momentswhere I'm not motivated,
(19:03):
it's normally I's backto a lack of belief in myself,
and it's something I have to work throughand I have to think through,
and I have to process, and I have to pull that out
and speak truthand don't know this is who I am.
This is what I'm capable of.
This is what I've done.
This is what I can doand work through that.
So if you are struggling with laziness,
I defer.
(19:24):
The last thingwhen it comes to consistency
is distractions.
And we all have themand we've talked about it.
You say no, right
and stop making excuses.
And probably the reverse order.
Stop making excuses and just say no.
But distractions are going to bethe biggest enemy to you
getting stuff done, period.
(19:47):
Because there's always going to besomething that can be distracting.
Just move on.
Barriers to momentumI talked about this a little bit,
but analysis is analysis.
It creates this paralysis.
Sometimes that just it's overwhelming.
And we have to we have to stop thinking.
And and this is tied to the next partof this analysis and perfection.
Sometimes we want to makewe don't wanna make a mistake.
(20:09):
So we don't actually actbecause we're so consumed
and we're so like, oh, I could screw up,I could fail, I could do this.
And and then before too long,
because we're tryingto get every single thing perfect
instead of putting out, like for me,instead putting out 20 videos a day,
I put out one, two, maybe.
And again,
that causesme to have less shots on goal.
(20:31):
So we have to really stopand realize that that analysis
is can be great when it's tied to you.
Actions and perfection can be greatif we tie it back to excellence
and we look at itas we're building things out, going like,
I can make I can tweak this,I can read this,
but it has to happen in alignmentwith movement.
(20:51):
Okay.
The other thingtoo, is, I think, a huge hindrance
to why things we losemomentum is we want the quick way,
we want the quick hackand the the quick fix.
And sometimes we'll do that for a fewminutes and realize, oh, it doesn't work.
And then we get discouragedand we actually stop,
or we just table itbecause we want the quick win.
(21:11):
When it doesn't happen, we're like, oh,
because again,momentum happens over consistency.
And so we have to stop that.
Yes, there can be hacks.
Yes, there's things and learn, but they can't be at the expense
of consistent momentum.
Hey, you know what made the list again?
Distractions.
Seriously. Distractions.
We start working on something.
(21:32):
Okay? Like, for instance,I have this thing.
Okay. I've been, working on losing weightand doing this.
This is just journey, and I'm.
I'm really doing more with it,
but I'm missing ice cream.
I don't know if any of you guyscan relate to this.
I love ice cream.
I really, I love it and sometimesI get like the halo tops like that, but
I, I've realized there's a thingcalled the creamy or something like that.
(21:54):
The Ninja creamy.
Oh my gosh.
And the other day I was working,I was really in the focus state,
and all of a suddenI saw something pop up about that
popped in my head about like, ice creamand something like that.
Another thing and some comment, and then all of a sudden, literally
two hourslater in ADHD, but like two hours later,
I'm, I'mlike close to buying these things,
but I'm like, no,I just need to sit on it.
(22:15):
I like when I do stuff like that.
I try to think through it.
And if I'm going to actually use itand do it because I'm like super excited,
I'm like, yeah, ice cream is like, well,I actually made ice cream.
And actually, is that going to distract mefrom the things?
But anyways, that's a whole another thing.
But I just illustrated to you right there,I got distracted from this video
I'm making with youbecause of an ice cream maker.
(22:37):
Distractions, guys.
Morale.
It's important to stay focused.
It's important to have a plan.
One thing that really hindersa lot of people and momentum.
They just don't start.
You can't move somethingthat's not in motion,
but you have to keep anything in motionto get really gaining momentum.
(22:58):
You know what I'm saying?
If you don't start
and sometimes again, go back to analysisof paralysis that stops us from moving.
So just start.
Fail. You fail. You learn, you grow.
You keep on doing. You iterate, you iterate.
More shots on goal.
The last thing is a lack of motivation.
And this goes back to what we were sayingbefore.
Is there something inside of you,
(23:19):
of your why that doesn't connectwith what you're actually doing?
And maybe you need to revisit yourwhy to start realizing
why you don't actuallywant to do the things it's
going to take to get the momentumto grow your business.
Like, you know, you're burnt out.
Maybe there's other things at play,
but find the help.
Do the work. it's the last.
I'm really been bad about this.
if you liked what you've you've seenand I actually I guess that's your recap.
(23:42):
let's do that beforeI did an ADHD distraction first of all,
when we get to the idea of consistencywe need to systems.
We need to have we need to be ableto realize what those things are.
We're doing.
And weneed to do them consistently have a plan.
And that's going to spur on the momentum.
We have to say no to distractions, not make excuses for it and be focused.
(24:04):
And the more we dothat, the more shots and goal.
The more we're disciplined, the more chances we have
for the hockey stick growth
and ultimately these barriersthat we have.
We all have some shape or form, and we need to really analyze our life
and take a second and be like, okay, what's we from doing
the things that actually are importantto growing my business.
(24:26):
So getting back to thinking, growing my business.
