Das Schlaubetal fasziniert zu jeder Jahreszeit und hat auch kulinarisch so einiges zu bieten. Ich habe mich mit zwei waschechten Schlaubetalern getroffen: Constanze Mikeska hat vor über 30 Jahren eine alte Mühle aus ihrem Dornröschenschlaf erweckt und mit dem Restaurant und Hotel "Kaisermühle" einen Wohlfühlort für Gäste und Einheimische von Müllrose geschaffen. Die Karriere von Karl-Heinz Weidner liegt sogar noch weiter zurück. Er ist seit 1980 Seenfischer im Naturpark Schlaubetal und sorgt dafür, dass die regionalen Gastrobetriebe stets den frischsten Fisch auf der Speisekarte anbieten können.
