(01:03):

Let's introduce ourselves first.
I'm Lynn Murphy.
I am one of the hosts.
I founded Women Who Push The Limitsand I put together an interview
book with 50 women and wrote.
The Amazon number one bestseller, 50Life Lessons from Inspiring Women.
And I am heterosexual, white, cisgender,I'll say mature woman, you know, sometimes

(01:29):
I say old woman, but a mature woman.
So I've been interviewing peopleand writing for a little while, but
I never imagined that I would bedoing a podcast, which will lead to
a book on the transgender journey.
Not until I met Wendy, and Wendy has educated me.
Thank you very much, Wendy.

Wendy (01:48):
Lynne, it has been such a pleasure to have met you.
You have been amazing.
You have taken everythingthat I've told you, you've
internalized it, researched it.
reached out to other people andyou're now an ally and you're just as
passionate about doing this as I am.
My mission and my legacy is to doeverything I can to humanize being born

(02:15):
transgender for the rest of society andwhile I'm Also helping people who are in
transition and parents of transgender.
It's become my passion and I believethat in 2015 when I actually transitioned
and started this life, that was theuniverse putting me on a path to

(02:36):
doing something very meaningful.
I don't expect people to understandthe concept of being transgender.
Unless you have ever questioned yourgender identity, looked in the mirror,
and said, I really should have been aman, or I really should have been a woman.
If you've never said that, I don'texpect you to understand this, because

(03:00):
that's what people like myself gothrough every day of our lives.
I did until 2015.
I was in my 60s when I transitioned.
It saved my life, literally, andit's been a wonderful experience.
All I hope to accomplish is to changepeople's perspectives and give you a

(03:22):
little knowledge to better comprehendwhat it means to be born transgender.
This is not a choice.
It's not something thatyou wake up and do.
And I knew personally, I knewfrom age three, I was different,
just didn't have the words for it.
I've lived with this.
For decades, and that's whatI hope to share with you.

Lynn (03:46):
Well, and we are going to educate people, we're going, Wendy's the first
person I interviewed, and she andI have had extensive conversations.
Thank you so much, Wendy, foreducating me, and that's what
we're doing with our podcast.
So, we will be interviewing otherpeople who were born transgender.
We'll also be interviewing parents, siblings, friends, relatives, co

(04:09):
workers, and medical professionalswho are helping the transgender
community with their needs.
Therapists, doctors, the whole spectrum.
So we're taking a wide approach to this.
We'll be interviewing somepeople who have transitioned from
male to female, female to male.
We want kind of a comprehensive look atwhat it means to be born transgender.

(04:32):
So we hope that you will stay tunedfor all of those things, and we know
that just by telling stories of realpeople, having you hear from people
like Wendy and some of the otherpeople we're going to interview, that
you will understand the human side ofthis, rather than listening to people
who are uninformed and misinformed.
about what it's liketo be born transgender.

(04:54):
If we can reach a few people and helpyou open up to this, this is for you.
We want people who are maybenot sure of what this all means.
Maybe you've got a family memberor a friend, you've just found out
that they're transitioning, thatthey are actually Born transgender.
You're probably confused.
These podcasts will help yousee the different perspective.

(05:17):
Like Wendy said, we're not trying tounderstand this necessarily, but to have a
different perspective on what's going on.

Wendy (05:23):
I feel that, um, this is something that is very important to put out
and offer you this kind of knowledge.
It's, it's very important.
And it will make a difference.
I know from the, uh, people that I'vehelped to transition, changing their
beliefs in themselves and helpingthem to find self acceptance, because

(05:47):
most of us wind up having a very badfeeling about ourselves and who we are.
The inner turmoil that people live with.
It's debilitating at times, andit's a very difficult way to live.
And I think that's animportant thing to realize.
This is not a choice.
It's who we are.

Lynn (06:08):
So if you are born transgender, if you have loved ones, if you're
just curious about what this isabout, please subscribe, comment, rate
and review this podcast, share it.
with other people who are openminded and who want to know.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
