Under siviltjenesten fikk Einar smaken på å jobbe med mennesker, og i denne perioden traff han også Lill som skulle bli hans kone. Sammen har tjent de som pastorpar på flere steder i Norge.
Lill og Einar hadde planlagt en god pensjonisttilværelse sammen, men så fikk hun diagnosen Alzheimer. Etter et par år med mange tårer, flyttet hun inn på aldershjem.
Einar fortsetter i sin forkynnertjeneste, og reiser også rundt med sangruppen «Søsknene Nymoen». Oppegårdingen har i tillegg utgitt flere bøker.
