Tis the season to be merry and also stressed! Happy holidays and welcome back to Do It For The Story. This week hosts Morgan and Stacey chat about their love-hate relationship with holiday traditions only because a lot of those traditions mean extra work on top of their already long work and life to-do lists! They start the episode off by talking about what they love about the holidays - Christmas carols, all of the holiday lights up around town, people usually being more kind in general and all those other warm fuzzy Hallmark Movie like moments. On the flip side as an adult you realize that most of that holiday magic was made in part by parents and mostly moms who were wrapping, buying, baking, and making the traditions happen. Because when was the last time a guy friend invited you to a cookie bake or an ornament exchange?!
Other than just sharing their holiday burnout moments the sisters talk about how doing less isn’t a bad thing and can help you get more joy out of a season that is for everyone BUT most importantly they go with the motto that “Christmas is for the kids”. They end the episode with talking about their wishes to not receive more overconsumption gifts they don’t need but instead spread the cheer and give the gifts to those who actually need it (think teachers with wish lists for their classrooms).
Remember it’s your holiday too! The holidays should be a time of togetherness, joy, and a focus on family and your community!
