(00:00):
What is engagement?

(00:04):
Who should I be trying to engage?
Why does collaboration or engagement matter to the work that I do?
If any of these questions resonate with you, or if you're already an engagement pro looking for new ideas,
then consider this your lucky day because there's a new podcast from Esri called "Engagement Matters."
Join us as we learn from the experts that are powering their projects with engagement.

(00:25):
Now, engaging communities of people - coworkers, customers, constituents, really anyone - can be pretty tough.
We know that it's absolutely essential if you want to make positive change.
Chances are you're already doing engagement and might not even realize it.
Maybe you're trying to encourage people to protect endangered species.
"If you could just imagine seeing this giant eagle standing right there, you know,

(00:48):
the beautiful white head and tail and the bright yellow legs and that piercing gaze.
I mean, if you ever lock eyes with an eagle, you're not going to forget it."
Or maybe you're trying to incorporate equity into the decisions your city makes.
"If we want to help people start incorporating equity in the work that they're doing,
we need to make sure that they have the resources to do that and that they understand how."

(01:11):
Or maybe you're trying to determine who in the community you should focus your efforts on.
"Bikers, equestrians, families, you end up with like 15 different groups.
Those are still not personas.

So we were actually able to drill it down to two types of personas (01:24):
the casual people and the professionals."
No matter how you define your community or what challenges you might be working on,
our guests' insights will inspire you to continually collaborate and engage with the people that your work impacts.
You'll be surprised how much you'll learn and how much positive change you'll be able to affect.

(01:47):
Our first season of "Engagement Matters" starts in just a few weeks,

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
