Mackenzie Shirilla and Dominic Russo were high school sweethearts locked in a volatile relationship—one marked by jealousy, threats, fights, and tearful reunions. It was on-again, off-again… until one summer night, it all came to a violent, irreversible end. In the early hours of a Sunday morning, Mackenzie got behind the wheel of her Toyota Camry—with Dominic and his friend Davion Flanegan in the car—and slammed into a brick wall at almost 100 miles per hour. Dominic and Davion didn’t survive. Was it an accident… or was it intentional? Prosecutors say Mackenzie’s obsession had crossed the line into premeditated murder. And her trial would go on to become one of Northeast Ohio’s most shocking and somewhat divisive court cases.
