Cheryl Lynn shares stories from the post office to the back porch—reminding us that in a world full of headlines and hustle, God’s love never changes.

From conversations about that “One Big Beautiful Bill” to late-night reflections with her Bible and a star-filled sky, Cheryl explores how Hebrews 13:8 grounds her in the middle of the mess.

She also shares lessons from Shauna Niequist’s Present Over Perfect, encouraging us to step out of the chaos and into a faith that’s steady—even when everything else feels upside down.

So pour a cup of coffee, settle in, and join Cheryl as she invites you to laugh, reflect, and remember: no matter what’s happening in Washington—or in your own backyard—it’s still God’s country.

(00:00):
Hey y'all, it's Cheryl Lynn and welcome to Faith and Grit.

(00:04):
This is the place where we talk about real life, real faith, and how to keep a smile on your face, especially on the days when everything feels upside down.
So grab your coffee, Lord knows I need mine, and let's settle in for a minute.
You know, I've been thinking a lot lately about how life seems to be speeding up.
It's like every time I open my phone there's a new headline, a new opinion, a new reason to worry.

(00:31):
Just the other day I was at the post office, y'all know the one with the squeaky door and the same clerk who's been there since I was in high school.
I.
I was waiting in line behind a man who was talking about that one big, beautiful bill they've been discussing up in Washington.
He was saying how it might finally bring back some stability to our communities that maybe it's time we get back to faith and family and just taking care of each other.

(00:55):
And I'll be honest, part of me wanted to say Amen right there in the post office.
But then the other part of me thought, Lord, I don't know enough about politics to jump in with both feet.
So instead I just listened.
When I got home that night, I opened my Bible to Hebrews 13, eight.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

(01:17):
And y'all that verse hit me like a hug because no matter what's happening in Washington, no matter what laws get passed or who's running for what, his love for us, it never changes Lately.
I've been reading this book Present Over Perfect by Shauna Quist.

(01:37):
She writes about stepping out of the hustle, about learning to let go of that constant need to measure up and just being still in God's presence.
And I'll be honest, stillness doesn't come easy to me.
I'm the kind of person who's always got a to-do list in her head, even when she's brushing her teeth.
But the other night I sat on my back porch with that book in my lap and a sky full of stars overhead, and I felt God whisper Cheryl, you don't have to fix the world.

(02:04):
Just trust me.
I.
Y'all, that was enough.
Because the truth is we're not called to understand every headline or solve every problem on our own.
We're called to be faithful, to love our neighbors, to pray for our leaders, even the ones we might not agree with.
To remember that God's in control, always has been, always will be.

(02:26):
I think sometimes we forget that faith isn't always about having the answers.
It's about trust in the one who does.
I remember one time I was driving home from work, dog tired and trying to remember if I turned off the coffee pot when I got stuck behind a tractor on the back road.
At first, I was all kinds of frustrated, like, Lord, I just wanna get home.

(02:49):
But then I looked at the field that farmer was working.
Neat rows of crops stretching out under the sunset.
And I thought about how patient he must be day after day planting water in trusting God to bring the harvest.
And maybe that's what we're called to, to, to plant seeds of faith, to water them with kindness and prayer, and to trust God to bring the growth even when we can't see it yet.

(03:18):
So here's what I'm leaning into this week, and I hope y'all will join me.
Let's stay informed.
Sure, but let's not let the headlines steal our peace.
Let's love our people, the ones right in front of us.
Let's remember that God's love never changes, even when the world feels like it's spinning off its axis.
And let's hold onto that beautiful promise.

(03:40):
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Thanks for hanging out with me today on Faith and Grit.
If this episode made you smile or gave you a little nudge to trust God a bit more, share it with a friend.
And remember, he's in the big stuff, the small stuff, and everything in between.
Till next time, keep the faith, keep the grit, and keep on shining.
