Evangelist Martha P. Davis's sermon, "The Power of God 2," emphasizes God's mighty blessings and miracles, with the greatest miracle being Jesus Christ's coming to save the lost. She asserts that the Gospel not only saves but also sustains believers daily. Drawing from 1st Chronicles 29, she highlights David's prayer acknowledging God's greatness, power, glory, and majesty, and how all riches and honor come from Him.
Evangelist Davis explains that while King David desired to build God a house, God had a different plan, choosing Solomon for the task due to David's past. This illustrates God's perfect plan and His desire for uprightness. The sermon then shifts to the new life in Christ, referencing 1st John 3:1 and Colossians 3, urging believers to "set their affection on things above, not on things on the earth." This new life means being dead to worldly temptations and living righteously, putting off the "old man" and putting on the "new man" renewed in the knowledge of God.
She stresses that God is calling His people to walk in uprightness and that the church must awaken from spiritual slumber. God is about to pour out His Spirit, and believers are commanded to seek His power from His Word and to have power with God. Evangelist Davis calls out sin within the church, stating that God did not save us to continue in sin, but rather gave us the power to overcome it. The sermon concludes with a powerful call to action, urging listeners to be among those whom God will use to demonstrate His power, cast out devils, and bring deliverance, as God is about to move in unprecedented ways.
