Jane and I want to helpbusinesses like yours showcase
more of you so you're nothiding behind your logo, And
your audience gets to see thereal, authentic personality
(00:21):
behind your brand. Myphilosophy is, the only way to
be comfortable in thespotlight is to truly believe
you belong there. And thattakes a little bit of work for
most business owners, becausewe're not all naturals in
front of the camera ormicrophone. On this podcast,
I'm going to share lots ofactionable tips and advice to
enable you to grow your brandin a way that's comfortable
(00:42):
for you. I'll also befeaturing special guests who
will share their amazingjourneys with us. It's time to
grow your brand with Amanda. So let's get started. Hello
everyone. Thank you forjoining me and welcome back to
the Grow Your Brand withAmanda podcast. And today I'm
(01:02):
going to talk about frompersonality to presence. And
this is one of my favoritesbecause I spend a lot of time
talking to people about theirpersonal brand, what that
looks like and what itactually means. So today we're
going to talk about Somethingthat I see all the time in
this space, that frustratingfeeling of doing all the
(01:24):
things to build your brandthat we all do, the posting,
the planning, the tweaking andyou still feel like it's not
quite landing and I describethis as a bee circling a
flower. You're circling andcircling and you know you're
close. But you're just notquite there and you're not
going to give up but you keeptrying and you keep trying so
(01:47):
you're showing up but it's notconnecting in the way that you
hoped and that's okay justkeep trying and don't give up
but if you're nodding rightnow know you get it because of
all the conversations thatI've had but your brand
personality it's not just avibe and this is what I want
you to take away today it'syour shortcut to magnetic
(02:08):
presence. So think about allthe people that you know, that
you see online. Rememberingthem right now because
something has drawn you tothem, something about their
presence. It's their words, their personality, how they
deliver things but somethingthat you're unaware of has
drawn you to them and it'sthat thing that helps people
(02:29):
feel like they know you evenif they've never worked with
you or met you in real lifeand the very best part of this
is it's not something that youhave to invent or get right.
It's already in you. And youdon't have to work hard to
find it. Your brandpersonality is the way you
(02:50):
naturally communicate whenyou're not overthinking every
word. Let me say that againwhen you're not overthinking
every word. I try to do mostof my work not scripted
because when I'm reading froma script I mess it up. I try
to naturally be myself becauseI know the words will come,
(03:10):
but if I overthink it and Ithink I've got to get this
right, I'm giving a talk, I'mdoing something on video, then
that's when it all falls over.So you want people to come
back to you and say, I lovehow real you are. There's just
something about the way youshow up. I feel like I know
you and my favourite. It feelslike you're in my head and
(03:32):
that's when I know my messagehas landed. It feels like
you're in my head. That isjust the Holy Grail for me.
and there's no fluff therethat's presence just my
presence it's not somethingthat I can copy from someone
else it's just me it's yourpersonality and that's what I
mean by you don't have to workat it it's already there and
(03:54):
it's that presence what'sgoing to build trust if you're
a perfectionist like me You'reprobably still overthinking
things and this is where itgets interesting. Now, I
shouldn't describe myself as aperfectionist. I am a
recovering perfectionist, butthe perfectionism doesn't just
go away overnight and I haveto work really hard at not
(04:15):
being a perfectionist. So,whereas old me would have
spent probably weeks workingand reworking this podcast,
today I'm speaking from theheart. I've got a few notes to
help me. But this is how Ilike to show up now because it
comes across hopefully as moresincere and more genuine and
(04:36):
when you understand the coretraits that make up your brand
personality something shiftsand it really does because you
do show up more authentically.Stop trying to be consistent
and start feeling consistent. It comes across more naturally
and when you see somethingoperating like a robot off a
factory line, you feel itbefore you see it and it just
(04:58):
doesn't sit well. So contentthat actually connects, that's
when you understand your idealclient, what they need from
you and what they want fromyou. An audience that
genuinely gets you whenthey're engaging, when they
understand what you're saying, when they said those things I
said a few minutes ago aboutit feels like you're in my
(05:18):
head, that's when you knowyou're on the right track. And
a recognisable brand withoutfeeling like you're wearing a
costume. That means I can showup as myself and people say oh
I love that post you saidabout that or oh I heard your
latest podcast. I love it whenpeople say that and there's
been times when I've commentedon a random Facebook group and
someone said oh listen to yourpodcast and that honestly is
(05:41):
amazing because my podcast isa teeny tiny part of the
internet and someone actuallyrecognises my podcast so That
means the absolute world to mebut I want you to remember
that you don't have to belouder or flasher or perfectly
polished and there's not a lotabout me that's perfectly
polished and I deliberately doit that way because none of us
(06:03):
are unless you are Youdon't need to be, you
just show up as yourselfbecause that's what people
love, people find thatendearing when you just show
up as you, all you need to dois turn the dial up on you, so
(06:25):
don't be louder, just beclearer, this is the number
one mind shift I see in theamazing clients that I work
with. You don't have to be amore curated, camera-ready
version of yourself. Nowremember, we're living in a
world of AI that is developingat an alarmingly rapid rate.
(06:47):
So on social media, there's alot of written content and a
lot of deep fake video AI. Soyou want to show up as you,
flaws and all. Don't do yourmakeup perfectly, don't do
your hair perfectly andcertainly don't speak
perfectly because if you'redoing all the ums and the ahs
and the hand gestures which ifyou know me is kind of the
(07:08):
thing I can't control, it'sthe number one thing that
shows this isn't AI generatedand many of us use AI in our
business but to convey yourpersonality You've got to show
up as you and the camerareadiness just turn it on and
talk do it a couple of timesif you have to but don't be
(07:29):
polished like the robotsbecause people want to hear a
chatty version of you which iswhy I like my podcast it is
just simply like listening toa conversation on a train and
it isn't polished toperfection and it never will
be. But you don't have tobuild your confidence from
scratch it's you build on itday by day and from experience
(07:51):
I know that confidence themore you do something the more
your confidence will grow andyou probably will do something
a lot and then look back andthink oh when I did that 18
months ago I can believe howfar I've come we all do it all
the business owners do it weall reflect and think wow I
didn't realise how muchprogress I'd made. And you
(08:12):
really don't need 102 contentpillars or a colour coded
visibility calendar. Just showwhen you can and a lot of us
are busy, some of us haveother jobs, there's families,
other commitments. Ipersonally can't stick to a
rigid timetable as much as I'dlove to but I do what I can,
when I can. But you just needsome clarity on what makes
(08:34):
your voice worth hearing. andhow to let it lead so this
week for example I've beendoing visibility and brand
audits and that's a freeconsultation with me for 30
minutes And I've spoken towell over 10 business owners
from amazingly differentbackgrounds on their
(08:55):
visibility and brand strategyand what it means to them and
the one thing that stood out,the common denominator really
was on their social mediathere was no personal brand.
They had the most amazingproducts, some of them were
starting out, some of themwere a bit more advanced so I
looked at their social mediawith fresh eyes and
immediately I want to know whoyou are, what you do, why did
(09:18):
you set up your business, Iwant to hear your voice, I
want to see your face but withmost of them that was the
primary thing because I'mcurious, I want to know why
you started your business, what it means to you and most
of those businesses had adeeply personal reason for
setting them up. And they allhad an incredible story and I
thought wow your audience isgoing to want to hear this. So
(09:38):
all those conversations that Ihad it was an absolute
privilege to get to hear thestories but what a story that
they all had to put on youknow underpin their personal
brand. So look at your ownsocial media content. If you
want a visibilityand brand audit, I'll put the
(10:06):
link in the show notes forthis podcast, but different
eyes reveal your personality. Some things that you will
overlook most definitely andthere were a few more advanced
business owners in thoseaudits as well and we also
discovered a few hidden gemsso it's definitely worth
getting someone else to haveanother look from the outside
but what is it that makes yourvoice worth hearing? How do
(10:31):
you let that voice lead?Remember that and don't get so
stuck in your business thatyou don't actually work on
your business. Also, if youwant to take a brand
personality quiz, I've got oneI've just put on my website,
I'll put that in the notes aswell. It's a good fun way to
see where your strengths arein your brand. You might find
(10:52):
that you're a calm groundedone or you're a bold
rebellious one, whatever itis, celebrate but don't fall
back into your old habits, usewhat you learn and exploit
what you learn, build it intoyour content, blend it in and
let that shine through. Andthis is where we need to shift
(11:14):
from awareness to strategybecause knowing your brand
personality is great but usingit to shape your visibility
and content strategy that'swhere the real power lives and
I think a lot of peopleoverlook their content
strategy and they're justposting a few things and this
is me and this is what I'mselling this week but when you
(11:36):
use a little bit of contentstrategy you can really shift
the trajectory of yourbusiness. So this is what
happens when you let yourpersonality lead your strategy
you really stop scrambling forwhat to say and you know
what's coming you've got anice little plan and I do like
a plan you start attractingclients who feel like a
(11:56):
perfect fit. Now think aboutthat, attracting clients who
feel like a perfect fit, isthat not the dream scenario
that we all want? And youbecome more visible without
burning out or blending in,because when you're trying to
reach everybody, you don'treach anyone. And honestly,
that's when your brand startsworking for you, even when
(12:19):
you're not in the room. So, ifyou're doing something else
when you listen to thispodcast, here's a little
recap. Your brand personalityis your presence, not your
polish. People connect withyou, not your Canva graphics,
although I do like a littleCanva time. Clarity creates
(12:40):
confidence, personalitycreates connection, strategy
creates momentum. And the verybest part of this is, you
already have everything youneed. We're not starting from
scratch, we're just turningthe volume up. So, if you're
ready to start building yourvisibility from the inside
(13:02):
out, in a way that's aligned, consistent and actually feels
like you, I've got a fewthings that you might find
useful. So, you can book afree 30 minute visibility and
brand audit. I will put thelink in the show notes. Come
and say hi on Instagram. AtCoachAmandaJane, I hang out
there a lot and I would loveto hear your thoughts or I
(13:24):
would love to see yourbusiness, some incredible
businesses I'm seeing thisweek, but remember this, your
story is magnetic, yourpersonality is powerful. Now,
let's make it strategic. Seeyou next time. Thank you so
