(00:00):
Hey, welcome to the Gutter Business Podcast. It's Friday afternoon and we're
going to have our weekly week.
Music.
So, yes, another week done. Another Friday, thankfully, and it's 3.15 here.
Meaning that I am finishing early.

(00:21):
Well finishing early as in in
from being out working out in the
van and going to get home and get a few quotes
sent off I've got two more to do I just
had a look there this afternoon at two more jobs one
big house which has a
problem with a leaking gutter and then also

(00:44):
a reoccurring one where she's had a lady has
had a few people out and just haven't got it right so
I was able to go up and see what the
problem is and yeah it can be
fixed fine and more permanent fix
than what's been done before so yeah i have the solution
for her and we'll get her over a quote

(01:04):
this afternoon and everything's sent over to
her before the weekend so i can forget about that
had another survey then just before
that one and it was a very straightforward one really
a clean out and a few repairs there so hopefully
get that too sent off and hopefully they
approve that today then i had

(01:26):
a job this morning up to about one o'clock or so it was so that went well that
was cleaning out repair sorry replacing a few of the joins that needed replaced
and just altering a bit of guttering at the back so all straightforward and
again one of the benefits
of this business is that once you know how to do all these little things.

(01:48):
It's quite straightforward.
It's not very physically demanding.
Once you're up the ladder, then you're just using your hands to fix things.
No heavy lifting, no real physical work as far as a lot of manual labor,
like lifting heavy landscaping, for instance, which can be without all the proper

(02:10):
tools can be a bit more demanding.
So without getting off topic then, that was today a job, two surveys.
Yesterday, unfortunately, I did have at least one job lined up and it was just too windy here.
I traveled to the the job and
when I got there the wind was just too much it's
quite a high property as well three stories at

(02:32):
the front two at the back and I've been there before trying
to do it or doing part of it and then planning
to come back to do the rest on a less windy day but
I just thought it wasn't really worth the risk
of of putting ladders up and potentially
being and blown off them or another problem could be that you have the ladders

(02:53):
up and then you go and walk away around the front of the house and next minute
you hear the ladders crashing down because the wind has caught them and brought
them down so that has happened as well so i'm speaking from.
Experience there if it is windy then you
want to lay the ladders down in the ground if you have to go back
to the van for something or yeah you're

(03:15):
just if you're not going to be having the ladders in your hand then they need
to be somewhere safe and with wind there's there's
just a point where it becomes too windy a lot of
times if it's just breezy it's okay and you'll learn
that there just becomes a point where actually the it's gusting and it's too
windy and not worth doing so safety's first and we can always do another day

(03:37):
so that meant then potentially yesterday was there was There's no income coming
in because I wasn't out working.
I was able to go and get a few surveys done.
Yesterday which was good just more sheltered areas
and got some surveys done and then I
came home at about lunchtime and

(03:59):
I had I think it was about 13 13 surveys
that Richard had done the day
before between what he had done a few on
Tuesday and Wednesday had done some surveys and then I'd done
done some so all together about I
think it was about 12 or 13 surveys that
went out so a few of them have came in and have

(04:21):
been approved so we can get actually some of
them done next week as well so we're still quite quiet there
was a little bit of rain there yesterday and that
just meant that requests started coming in quite
quickly so that's good so we have yeah work
next week we have surveys for next week to be done and that'll keep us ticking

(04:41):
along at the minute off next friday which is good so on a few days the following
week so just a bit of a summer break for a few days which i'm looking forward
to and yeah that's that's pretty much it other jobs then this week.
Yeah we had overall maybe we done about 11 jobs in total by 13 14 surveys and

(05:06):
yeah it was good week not much more
really to talk about to say if there's anything else that you would like,
me to chat about on here please do let me know and if not then i'll touch base.
Next week with a new episode thanks for listening.
