Weekly Recap: From Busy Surveys to Weekend Plans

Happy Friday! Join me for a quick recap of my week. As summer rolls in, work has been quieter with fewer new requests due to the dry weather. However, we managed to complete around 12-13 surveys, providing clients with detailed reports and quotes. Some jobs are already approved and scheduled for next week.

This week, my colleague was off on Monday but made up for it with a thorough clean-out and wash-down job on Tuesday, followed by two days of surveys. As for myself, I was out in the field all week, tackling both single and multiple job days. Today, I wrapped up early to enjoy some family time at the cinema.

The weather in Belfast has been a mix of warm and cool days. Looking ahead, I'm excited about the possibility of hiring another employee to help grow the business. Reflecting on past experiences, I'm ready to scale up again and get back into the groove.

Happy Friday with me here and I'm just going to do a quick recap on how my week went.
Music.
So yeah, as I say, Friday here and ready to head home for the weekend,
which is great and be able to switch off a bit from work until Monday.

(00:25):
The week went well. Well, we're in summer at the minute here.
So a little bit quieter on just new requests coming in.
It's been quite dry and that means people aren't noticing any issues with their guttering.
So naturally, there's not as much inquiries coming in.
But we did have quite a few surveys stacked up that had to be done this week.

(00:48):
And that's just where we head out.
Put the ladders up and have a look in the gutter. Take some photos.
Look for any issues that we see around the property. and then
we'll email all that across to the client with
a price and some options of of what maybe are
recommended options what really do you need done and some
optional things like washing for instance washing

(01:09):
the outside of the guttering down that's more nothing just for
the the cosmetic value so yeah so we got maybe about 12 13 surveys done this
week got them all sent off which is is great and we're just we've got some jobs
already i've came through approvals of those quotes which we're actually going
to be able to do some of them next week we're working quite tight as far as.

Quotes going out and then within a week or so being able to to get them done
which is good for the client it does
mean that we don't have as much of a backlog of work which is okay but,
sometimes it's nicer to have just knowing you're a couple weeks ahead
really but it's all good so the week that passed
then the guy works for or works with

me he was off on monday just a planned holiday so he
was back in on Tuesday then and he got a clean out
and a wash down job done clean out
and wash down job done which took good part of
the day and then he was on surveys on
the rest of Tuesday and Wednesday all day
surveys it's just three days a week at the moment just because

that suits him I would have him seven days a week if he wanted he's great so
myself then I was out five days this week no admin days and a few of those days
I just done one job each day which would have been bigger jobs and then a few
I had two jobs booked in so that was good.
Today I started with a clean out and a wash down and a repair job on a relatively

small semi-detached house which was good and then headed to another job there this afternoon.
It's half three here so I'm having an early
day which is great we're going to go to cinema with my
boys and my wife what's good and yeah
so that was the week there was nothing strange or startling and
the weather was some really nice days quite

(03:05):
warm and some cooler days just a real mix here
which is quite normal for for belfast and
northern ireland here that's where i am so
i'll get scheduled up for next week and
we'll work out who's going where and yeah we'll just work through the summer
i am hoping to bring on someone else another employee which would be great i

(03:27):
have a van all ready to go here in my driveway so yeah i'm really looking forward
to hopefully finding someone who'd be suitable and.
And get them going and get them trained up and hopefully get
them out in the road and that's just a small next
step goal for me if you've heard before maybe mentioned
i did a few years ago i had about six six

(03:50):
people working for me some full-time some part-time
some subcontractors so i had
four vans going on the road so that's
that's a height of what i've scaled things to but at
the minute i scaled it back a little i had moving house
and a few other things that really the business was
was taking up a lot of time and energy so

scaled it back for a year or
two there and i'm keen to get it moving again
i feel so yeah i really need to look into to
finding another employee which would be great and
a team member so that's it for today i
think i'll probably do some of these little weekly reviews

(04:34):
just to let me offload the week before heading
home and maybe give you some value as well
and also maybe there's some topics that'll
come up while talking about the past
