(00:12):
It's time for another edition of Henry's Dashboard Dialogues,
and we are just tickled to be talking about a lot of the good things that are
going on here in South Central Kentucky.
The city of Glasgow is so proud to once again crank up with Entertain Glasgow.
And our first event is coming up this Friday night.
(00:33):
You know this person quite well. She has worn a lot of hats around the city
of Glasgow. Her actual name is April Russell.
Her actual title is City Administrator, but she also is the chairperson with
the Entertain Glasgow Committee since its beginning. Yes, we've been around since 2019.
(00:53):
So you are in good form and ready to talk about the first event of the year.
It's going to be Friday night and it's going to be a biggie.
April, tell everybody about it and send out a big invitation.
Absolutely. Our first concert of the 2024 Summer Concert Series is Sunday Best.
They are a Kentucky band. They've been known to play at the UK football games,
(01:17):
different places like that.
And we're super excited to have them. Opening for them is Dad Bods. Okay.
And Dad Bods is a couple of local guys here in Glasgow that have quite a following.
We're excited for them also. We're excited about where the venue,
where it's going to happen. Talk about that, April. problem?
Beaver Creek Park, which is also known as Beaver Trail, is where we are going
(01:38):
to construct a new shelter there that will also be our concert stage.
And it is an amazing structure. We're very proud of it.
We've been getting a lot of comments from people who have been out there walking
or maybe been out there in the playground area and said,
Man, that thing is nice. I said, well, wait till Friday night,
the 26th, and see what it looks like.
(02:00):
Yes, we have paving all the way up to the venue, to the shelter,
so that you can roll your strollers or whatever you're bringing with you.
Have a nice path to walk on and get set up for the evening.
It's going to be really nice and neat to see it used as a stage.
And we've been looking forward to it. Tell everybody exactly how much it costs
(02:22):
to get into the Friday night show. Friday night show is free.
It's free to the public. That is correct.
We will have food trucks there starting at five o'clock and they will be ready.
So what we'd really love for you to do is come out, bring the kids,
let them play on the playground because we have an amazing playground at Beaver Cove Park.
Walk around the trail and have supper with us and a snack and then be ready
(02:49):
for the show at seven. Okay.
So let's talk a little bit about getting a lot of the people who listen to the
podcast come to events at Beaver Trail.
What's the best way we're going to be able to get in for parking for the event, April?
You can park at the first parking lot, which is what everyone normally knows as a Beaver Trail park.
(03:09):
There is also a second parking lot. It's kind of on the backside of the baseball diamonds.
And then across the street from the first parking area, we will have mowed that
area, marked off any dangers that you do not want to drive off into.
And that will also be open. The best part, like I said, that Eddie and them
(03:30):
have paved a walking path.
You can stay on the walking path and on pavement all the way up to the shelter. We know where to park.
We know where to eat. We know where to eat.
We know how much money we have to have to pay the emission price, which is zero.
There's really no excuses out there, is there? Absolutely not.
And all of this is not possible without the sponsors that we have.
(03:55):
The City of Glasgow, obviously, is the main sponsor that helps us get through this.
But we have Renew by Optum and the Tree Company that stepped up this year.
We also have Bailey & Gibson, MCS Lawn Care, Greg Harris Electric.
Greg's always out there. He provides us.
He's been with us from the beginning, takes care of us.
(04:18):
TJ Regional Health, Botts Construction and Real Estate, Diamond Auto, Spantech.
The tourism is always a big supporter of Entertain Glasgow.
TJ Regional Health is also and the Christian Family Radio.
They're really excited about concerts that come later on.
So we have sponsors we have people buying
(04:39):
in in the community and it is for our community we
also every year in every concert we have people
come from all over states away they come in for a free friday night show and
spend their entire weekend with us here in baron county we have so much to offer
the name of the band sunday best if you have friends that went to uk if you
(05:01):
have friends that It went to Lindsay Wilson, to Cumberland University.
These guys are from Paintsville, Kentucky, but they have a huge, huge following.
You know, if you've talked to anybody in any of those places we were talking
about, they're very well known.
I expect we'll be seeing a lot of them here in Glasgow on Friday night,
don't you? I do, too. I've had comments from people who are in college now.
(05:24):
I have had comments from people older than I am and from my age.
So this should be an amazing show with an amazing crowd of all different varieties.
All right. So it's Friday night, April the 26th. What time can we get in?
We're free park. So you can come any time of day you would like.
We will start having food trucks at five o'clock and then music will start at
(05:47):
seven. Entertain Glasgow.
We want to focus on this Friday night, but there's some biggies coming up.
So we'll have some more conversations. conversations, it's going to be the best
season ever for Entertain Glasgow.
And thank you, April, for all of your hard work. And you got a good committee,
too. We have an amazing committee, people from the community who have stepped up.
And then every department in the city, they put in extra work for us.
(06:11):
That's right. It's going to be fun.
Looking forward to it. Thank you for being with us here on Henry's Dashboard
Dialogues. We just want to tune in about some of the good things that are going on.
And this one's going to be good, April. Thanks a lot. Thank you.
