What is the suffering of Christ? Did Christ suffer? What does it mean to suffer for and with Christ? Many of us, myself included, have not completely understood the role of suffering in the body of Christ, for many, salvation ends at confessing Jesus as Lord and Savior, when in actuality, it goes much beyond this. The Apostle Paul is writing from jail to the church and advising that believing in Jesus is not enough, we must also take part in His suffering.
