1925 skickar den då 13 -åriga Gunhild Hellström från Fröjdablick i Söderhamn in Sagan om det elaka trollet och gråkappan till Institutet för språk och folkminnen i Göteborg. I brevet skriver hon att den här sagan har mormor berättat, och hon hörde den utav sin mor, när hon var liten.
