(00:01):
Welcome to Horror Cinema Obsession. Here, we dive deep into the chilling depths of horror cinema.
From the critically acclaimed scares, to the laughably ludicrous,
and even the delightfully obscure.
Now, let's join our hosts, Richard and Angelus, as they share their love,
laughs, and sometimes sheer disbelief at the world of horror movies.
(00:28):
Alright, hello, hello. how's my
beautiful co-host i'm good babe how are you
oh you know living life 365 365
you know all the time that's cool
i'm richard and this is angelus no it's angelus okay yeah angelus um how do
(00:51):
you do it it's on hellas it's angelus i'm hellas i can do it try it one more time Angeles?
Close. You know what? That's as close as it's going to get. I'll give you four stars.
Okay. I'll take a four stars. As we progress, I'm going to test you again and
see if you still remember.
Guys, it's Angelus. I like Angelus. I love Angelus so much.
(01:15):
Hey, say my last name. Contably.
Now the whole world knows you said it wrong. No, I didn't.
I practiced. Wrong. Oh, okay. It's Contabli.
It's Contabli. I said it wrong. Contabli. I think you're fucking with me.
Say my last name. No? Diaz Jimenez. No. Wrong.
(01:42):
Hmm. Okay. Well, welcome, folks. Welcome back, folks, to another awesome episode.
We're at Horror Cinema Obsession.
This week, we are covering a movie from 2001.
So, it happens to be the 23rd year, and every 23 years, this thing called the
(02:07):
Creeper wakes up to feed.
Maybe next time he should just hit the buffet because instead of creating one,
let's clean up and no need to sew the customers together, dude.
I'm just saying. I'm just saying.
I lost my thought there. I was like, where are you going with this?
(02:29):
I'm just saying it'd be less of a mess. And then he could just clean up.
There's people that clean up afterwards.
Although buffets are getting outrageously overpriced.
I don't like buffets, but. Buffets. But remember the other day we were talking about it? Yeah. Yeah.
I mean, when you think about it, it's food that's just sitting there for hours.
Gross. I've never been a fan. Stooling and bacteria.
(02:54):
Disgusting. Disgusting. So, yes, if you haven't found out what we're covering,
Angelus, what are we covering?
We are covering Jeepers, Creepers. Where you got your peepers. Yes.
A song by Louis Armstrong. No, the movie Jeepers Creepers.
Initially, how, what did you like? Did you like this movie? Oh,
(03:18):
hells yeah, man. You know what? I like this movie.
I liked it early on. And I will say it holds up for me. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was good.
It has its quirks like all horror movies do. Especially in 2000s.
Early 2000s. But this movie was entertaining still.
I like it I think it still holds even watching it I haven't been watching it in,
(03:42):
Maybe a year or so before this week to cover for the podcast.
And I still like sitting there. I felt a little bit of that anxiety.
Like, oh, shit, he's coming for you. So I haven't seen this movie in honestly
over 10 years. It's been a long time.
I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't see it. Like initially, the last time I
(04:02):
saw it was when it came out. Like real for real. Yeah.
And oh, yeah, I wanted to cover this because we talked about this off mic.
You said I was privileged.
Dang you're gonna put me in the spot like that richard yes
because apparently i in
previous episodes guys i did i
(04:23):
guess in a sense i was privileged i got to see movies in
the movie theaters and then we got to rent movies we were having dinner last
night and here i am and just deepen my thoughts and i was like you know what
richard after every episode i'm
coming when i realized you grew up and you were a privileged little boy,
(04:46):
but it's not the gayest i grew up i feel like every episode you're
like yeah i saw this movie when it came out in the theaters or
my mom took me we rented it right away and we
watched them when i came out at some point i mean either that
and guys i'm not ashamed to say we
would pirate satellite tv so shout
out dish network we would steal that so we'd have free movies all the time and
(05:09):
then they'd come out right when they were released on satellite we got to watch
it so gone are the days gone are the days i have to pay for tv now he's an honest and honest gentleman,
but yeah so in a sense yeah maybe i was privileged.
How did you so growing up you just watched movies on tv even in the states you
(05:33):
guys didn't go to We're at movies.
Oh, after we moved to the States back in 2000, June of 2000.
Yeah, we would. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait, wait, wait. Do you remember the
first time you stepped into a movie store?
Did it just blow your mind? No. No.
It didn't? No, I knew they existed, but we didn't really go to them.
(05:54):
Like, again, I grew up in a really, really small town, so that was not a thing
there. That's what I'm saying. We would go to the city.
Oh, and they would have something like that. Yeah, they had movie stores and
movie theaters and all that stuff.
So I wasn't, like, completely a stranger to it. Just, like, it wasn't part of my daily life.
But that's what I'm saying. And, like, I had the luxury of it being,
(06:17):
you know, less than a mile away.
So I could just go there and be like, oh, we want to rent movies for Friday.
You guys would actually have to make a plan, like, to go do that.
Like, if you were going to do that. Like, you'd have to plan that go into town.
Yeah, no, most of the time it was just whatever was on TV.
That's cool. That's cool. That's cool. That's cool. So, yeah,
(06:38):
I'm glad we got to discuss my privilege. Privilegedness.
Everyone has a little bit of privilege in one way or another.
I have privilege now. What was your privilege? What is my privilege? I'm bilingual.
Okay. You don't have that. Yes, I do. We're trying.
Baby steps, babe. I'm trying. I have a car. Other people don't have cars.
(07:00):
I have a job. Other people don't have jobs.
Yeah. Yeah. That's a good way to look at it. I like that.
So yeah 2001 some
pretty good movies came out so i
didn't do an extensive research research on 2001
this is kind of off memory and a little bit of
research now i know my co-host angela's she did
(07:23):
a little bit more but what i seen the
this year was quite significant for cinema
it had a mix of films that have
since become classics or fan favorites and
here are just some that i looked up in 2001 we had
the first harry potter and the sorcerer's stone
were you a big harry potter fan no i honestly wasn't either i maybe watched
(07:50):
most of one movie i tried to because of all the hype but i don't know maybe
i was just not in the mood Maybe I can retouch it again.
I mean, I know Quidditch and the little sport they're flying around. That's pretty cool.
And Professor, what was it, Snape? I don't know. Oh, yeah.
(08:11):
I don't know the classes or the people are just like, oh, these bastards.
I don't know them either. I know there's like different types of schools. Gryffindor.
There's a term that I hear all the time, muggles. Oh, yeah, dude.
I've heard that too. Like I, someone like quoted this to me at one point. Were you so lost?
(08:32):
No. Well, a little bit, but then I figured out it said muggle.
I got a, they gave me a mug too.
Muggle in the streets, wizard in the sheets. Oh. Ooh. Ooh.
I was like, oh, that's cool. I don't like Harry Potter, but I finally,
that's only recently I found out what that meant. I was like, what is this?
(08:53):
A muggle, you're just a normie, and then a wizard, you're just magnificent. Yeah. Oh.
Yeah. Oh, interesting. I didn't know what it meant.
Yeah. Sorry, guys. Yeah. Sorry. Sorry. We're not the biggest Harry Potter fans.
But the second one lord
of the rings the fellowship of the ring this
is a franchise starter this film brought jrr tokens
(09:15):
epic fantasy world to the big screen
captivating audiences and critics like me also this is a good one i know you
give me shit for this movie did i send you that clip from clerks three yes yes
and you talk about it almost every day i hate it about what They just keep walking.
(09:38):
I love it. That's one of my favorite clips from Clerks 3. So was Fellowship
of the Ring, was this the one you watched in high school all year?
I don't know. I don't know which one we watched. I think it was the first one, whatever that is.
Fellowship of the Ring. Oh, is that it? I don't know. And then your favorite came out.
Sorry, moving forward. But I was excited to talk about this when I seen it. Shrek.
(10:01):
Shrek. Those movies are freaking dope. I know you showed me guys.
It was recently that I even watched Shrek. I can't believe I didn't see this in the past.
No, no, no. Let me rephrase. It was recent that Richard watched Shrek.
But we watched it as a family okay okay it
was enjoyable yeah there was a lot of punchlines right well
(10:24):
and stuff i already knew like i knew the gingerbread man i'm a real boy no but
like the adult jokes and innuendos that are hidden in the movie yeah it was
pretty good i think they're entertaining so yeah shrek that one was good everybody
knows this fact but chris farley was
originally going to be Shrek and then he unfortunately passed away
(10:46):
and then Mike Myers got it which could
you imagine anybody else but Mike Myers doing that voice
no I couldn't imagine it either that'd
be wild and then you have an epic Ocean's Eleven with Brad Pitt and all those
guys George Clooney and then A Beautiful Mind that was a biographical drama
(11:08):
and then another big one that It's kind of near and dear to my heart.
Monsters, Inc. That was a pretty good one that year.
Monsters, Inc. Yeah. How many other is it? Did they keep it to three?
I think so. There's like Monster University, Monsters, Inc. I don't know. Maybe it's just two.
Maybe two. Good. Keep it that way. I don't know. Some movies are good as a franchise.
(11:29):
Some others aren't. I like Monsters, Inc. But I don't know where else they could
have come with this story.
No. I mean, I think there's tons of avenues they can take with it.
But no, I'm with you. I think very seldom or you should kind of push them out
far away from each other.
You know what I mean? Not put out sequels super quick to each other.
(11:50):
So, these films, along with Jeepers Creepers, made 2001 a memorable year in
cinema with a diverse array of genres and styles.
But, did you have any other movies? We'll get into the horror movies,
but was there any other movies of note?
Not that I saw. Was it like, maybe I'm wrong, Black Hawk Down, maybe that was 2003.
(12:11):
Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor. That might have been 2000.
I don't know. I don't know, I gotta look that up. up i'm
just remembering these i'm like are those 2001 i was
focusing on the horror films this time around okay
well here let's compare our horror movies that
came out you list them off we'll talk
about them 13 goes with the goat matthew lillard oh that's my boy and then and
(12:38):
not even that we got monk in that too your favorite actor tony shalhoub shalhoub
i was actually watching re-watching Monk last night when I went to bed.
Guys, I don't know if this will be unpopular, but I don't like Monk. I don't like the TV show.
I like him, and I like some of the... Did you watch Pauly?
(12:59):
The what? Was it Pauly? With the parrot?
Pauly. Yeah. What do you mean? Pauly won a cracker. It was a movie. Moving on.
He's in it. Maybe. I just remember Men in Black as the... He was a janitor.
I remember Men in Black. He was a salesman, but he was an alien.
Oh that was a pretty good one
keep going keep going we also
(13:22):
have daggone it was
a vamp it looks like it's a vamp spanish movie boating accident an ancient sea
god and a monstrous half-human offspring the mummy returns whoa whoa whoa don't
just glaze over the mummy returns you're about to Hey, that one's epic, man.
(13:45):
That's like one of your favorite franchises, isn't it? Yes, with Brendan Fraser,
Rachel, Patricia Velasquez.
Gorgeous, most gorgeous people of that era. Arnoldo Boslo and Dwayne Johnson
as the Scorpion. Oh, the crappy CGI.
We've talked about that in previous podcasts, didn't we? Yeah. And then Hannibal.
(14:07):
Okay, this movie, Hannibal. Oh, my God. So, spoiler alert, Ray Liotta from Goodfellas
gets his head cut open. Do you remember that scene?
And he eats the brains. Yum. So, that movie gets a bad rap.
People don't like it. Why? I don't know. It's just, it's kind of not superior.
(14:28):
Silence of the Lambs was a big to follow up on.
Yeah. So, but that being said, that movie scared the living shit out of me when the pigs ate that guy.
Oh, dude. That was intense. And what's the guy that was in the wheelchair?
He's the guy who played in The Fifth Element. Gary Oldman. Yes, Gary Oldman.
That freaked me out. And then I would have nightmares about it.
(14:50):
So but yeah no so hannibal was pretty scary i also found you're gonna hate me donnie darko,
why would i hate you i don't hate that movie you
keep telling me that i do i just don't want to watch it ever again
i love donnie dark one of those psychological
(15:10):
i know mindfucks i know
i just i retired it i've seen it like
three times oh that's it i've watched it like over
and over really yeah is it like comfort food for
you is that like a comfort movie really just put
it in background noise i watched it
so many times oh my god i like introducing people to it
(15:31):
because it just fucking doesn't make sense sometimes and they're
like what is wrong with him right why is
he so miserable jake jelen hall maggie jelen
hall drew barrymore seth rogan a
young seth rogan he was a bully in school i'm
a fucking rat bastard and then the
devil's backbone was huge in the latin american
(15:54):
world from director guillermo del toro dude we gotta cover his pan's labyrinth
yeah we gotta cover that dude and we gotta watch i need to have you watch this
have you seen devil's backbone no it's good i haven't seen it it has It involves
orphaned little children with secrets about the school, ghosts.
(16:15):
It has Federico Luppi, Eduardo Noriega, Inigo Garces, and Marisa Paredes.
And then there was a sequel, Children of the Corn Revelation. Yes.
The Glass House, and Tremors 3.
Okay. So were those the ones you had? Mm-hmm. So I have that I remember.
(16:38):
I don't think you mentioned The Others with Nicole Kidman.
That one's a good one. From Hell, Johnny Depp. He plays an author,
I believe. Maybe not. No, this is the Jack the Ripper.
He's hunting Jack the Ripper. That's a pretty good one.
Valentine, have you seen that? I believe that's the one where a lady's eating candy.
She gets like a Valentine's candy and then it has maggots in it. Oh.
(17:00):
Ever seen that? And it's got the Cupid mask.
I've seen that cover. I recognize the cover. I don't know that I've watched
it. It's got the dude from Bones in it. The main detective?
Yeah. I always forget his name. Gosh.
Angel. He's Angel too. And Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Guys. That's going to bug me. People are going to hate me. Hey,
(17:23):
our researcher over here could probably look. Michael something?
No. In the review corner, Vianna could probably look that up for us. What's his name?
If you type in Angel or Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Bones. We know his work. He's looked at a lot of stuff.
(17:44):
Yes, David Boreanaz? Yeah. All right. Thank you, Vianna. I appreciate that.
And then we have The Forsaken and
then Session 9, which kind of looked interesting. I've never seen that.
A psychological horror film that takes place in an abandoned asylum where asbestos
(18:05):
cleanup crew experiences strange occurrences as they discover a dark history
of the building. That looks pretty good.
I watched a little trailer of it. I was kind of interested.
I was intrigued. So I put that on our list for in the future. Okay.
But yeah, no, so that's kind of the movies in 2001.
We weren't going as in-depth with that this time around in this episode.
(18:29):
I know we usually talk at length about the movies, but I think in an effort,
we were trying to change it up a little bit.
In an effort trying to kind of stick to the movie and the horror genre as a
whole, because I tend to go on tangents. Yeah, you know we've been ranting the last couple episodes.
For one hour, I talked about Goodfellas. i mean sheesh no i'm kidding it was
(18:54):
an hour it was maybe a solid 20 i felt like an hour oh my god.
God you're so mean to me,
i'm sorry that's a movie i can watch it's a classic i can watch over and over
again you won't let me watch it that's fucked up like i was thinking about like
(19:15):
my top five that are not Not horror movies.
I would say Goodfellas, Godfather 1 and 2 together.
No, they're separate movies. Together.
Oh, my Lord. Terminator. Terminator with Arnold.
Schwagging. Terminator 2. Hasta la vista, baby. Predator.
(19:35):
And Predator is dope, dude. You said non-horror, though.
Well, it's more action. That's more action. But it's alien.
I know, but it's action. sci-fi act oh okay
oh my god we're splitting hairs here you guys but no
those are kind of like that's my my top that's your
top and you've never watched any single one of those i watched predator and
(19:58):
terminator not with me take this shit back i tried i'm like will you watch predator
with me watch it by yourself get out of here i did i was like how about aliens
i said good day i said good day sir.
Um before we before we move
on what's your top movies my top yeah
(20:19):
you're all time you do what's your
comfort food other than donnie darko
psychological thrillers and comedies i
know but what's your go-to like when you just need background noise
i was talking to snickers that
i work with her background noise movie
is so funny and whore people
(20:40):
will know this movie chud chud have
you have you seen that no you guys were talking about it last
time we talk about all the time i don't know why me and
her do i've never met anybody else that has
seen chud besides me and her in spokane oh my god so i always got to bring that
up and then chud too bud the chud we gotta watch that i love it chud the bud
(21:05):
bud the chud bud the chud but yeah down the road we're gonna
probably have her as a special guest for that one okay but
okay yeah so you don't have any comfort food like tv shows anything they're
kind of horror adjacent true it can be horror i just didn't have horror with
(21:29):
it dexter oh that is comfort food i could have that on dexter Mr.
Vianna's gonna laugh. Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Dude, inside of me. Or inside of you.
It's my fantasy, okay? Leave me alone. We can go inside of you.
(21:52):
God, this episode's going off the rails, dude.
Wow. Okay. My God.
Going off the rails my favorite is when the fucking Dracula musical I fucking
if it's playing I'm singing right along with it oh god,
(22:16):
sing the part sing the part I can't remember I have the tune in my head but
not the words right now okay okay,
Clark's 2 and then Donnie Darko Have you ever watched Dogma?
I like that one. Dogma? Uh-uh. Yeah. It's got Jay and Silent Bob in it.
(22:39):
Ben Affleck. You know, I saw Jay when he came to the comedy club. Mm-hmm. He was okay.
You weren't impressed? I was not that impressed. I think I had high hopes.
I think only if you're a true fan of his work, you would have really enjoyed
it, because that's what he did mostly, was talk about...
Stuff that he's been in and how he got the role for Clerks. To me, that's not comedy.
(23:03):
When I go to the comedy show, shout out Spokane Comedy Club.
We're not paid for this, but they're cool.
We're not sponsors, but hey, man, we love them.
But yeah, so that's kind of unfortunate. He's coming back again.
I can't remember if it's next month or this month.
Babe, we got a shout out real quick. The last comedy show we went to.
(23:25):
Oh, my God. Troy Bond.
That dude is fucking hilarious.
Yeah. I laughed so fucking hard. I was crying at one point from how hard I was laughing.
Troy Bond was good. And the guy before him, I wish I knew his name.
And I feel bad that I don't remember it. I don't remember his name either. God, he was so good.
(23:46):
But Troy Bond has a podcast with him. What is it? Coming Out.
Coming Out of the Closet or some shit. Oh, I can't remember.
I have to look him up and maybe I'll bring it up at the end. And he was so nice.
He stuck around after the show, took pictures with people, said high five,
caressed you a little bit.
(24:07):
Caressed me? Oh, no, you didn't want to take a picture. Oh, yeah,
he was getting up in clothes with Orlando.
I don't like touch.
Poke.
So let's move on back to the movie Jeepers Creepers. Yes, yes, yes.
So how do you feel about the cast? dude i like the cast i mean it's you know
(24:30):
you're you have your main characters,
which fucking justin long just blew
out of the water after this movie just yeah
yeah it was his first leading role he was 22 at the time he was 22 i thought
he was 25 first lead role and then gina phillips his sister trish i liked her
(24:51):
and she's been in a lot of tv right he's she's done on a lot of TV,
the thing that I found that was kind of interesting,
so they're supposed to be playing ceilings, right? And they're supposed to be close in age.
She was actually 30 at that time.
Oh, really? Well, they're supposed to, you said they're supposed to be twins?
No, not twins, but close in age. Well, I think they even said,
(25:11):
I think they were supposed to be twins, because I think they mentioned that.
Maybe I missed it. Yeah, I think they mentioned it. I could be wrong. Maybe it's my own head.
You're just making up facts. i'm
kidding oh my god but yeah gina phillips some of the films that she did,
deadly invasion the killer bee nightmare in 95 that was a tv movie that i'm
(25:36):
not aware of telling you i don't know if i know that one either i know the anarchist
cookbook though in 2002 i watched that.
Ring around the rosy Jeepers Creepers 3. She reprised her role, and that was in 2017.
I haven't seen that one. The only Jeepers Creepers I've seen is the original, this one, and two.
(25:58):
I haven't seen Reborn or Jeepers Creepers 3, but you said Reborn was a little rough.
I watched Reborn. I have to go back and watch it again because from memory, it was not the greatest.
I think I mentioned this last time we talked about this movie,
the effects on the mask Ask on the Creeper on the last one.
No, they're cool. You can see a lot more detail.
(26:19):
So it's like when they zoom in on his face, you're like, oh, shit.
Oh, okay. So maybe with now that you know me, you can appreciate a little bit
more. No. Is that what you're saying?
What? I feel like now I point out things in movies and you're like,
oh, okay, that is pretty cool.
Where before you just glazed over some of the facts and some of the details.
(26:42):
So you're making me research into movies too much, Richard.
I don't make any research. Get out of here.
You know you love it just as much as I do. But no, so that was kind of her movies that I found.
But then she also was in Ally McBeal, Boston Public, CSI Crime Scene Investigation,
(27:03):
and it looks like Medium.
Medium? With Patricia Arquette, I believe, is Medium. Maybe I'm wrong. Oh, okay.
So, yeah, with her. And then to go back to Justin Long, his first role that
I remember him in, I absolutely love this movie, Galaxy Quest.
Okay. With Tim Allen and your boy, Sam Rockwell. Shout out, Sam Rockwell.
(27:28):
Oh, yeah. I finally got Richard to watch Three Billboards and Sage Evington.
Didn't we already cover this on a previous episode?
I did. I enjoyed it, guys. You watched it all. You didn't pout. I laughed. I enjoyed it.
So, yeah, he was in Galaxy Quest, Dodgeball. I love that movie.
(27:49):
The Breakup, which is pretty good with Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston.
Barbarian, which Vianna introduces to. He was on a roll, though,
from 99 all the way up until about 2000.
I want to say 2010.
He was just hitting movie after movie. And then he kind of just slowed down.
(28:09):
He didn't retire or anything, but he kind of took a break here and there.
He did a little bit. Yeah.
But yeah. What was the movie you just brought up?
Barbarian. Dude. Okay. I didn't watch that completely. You said that was really
good. That is frigging good.
I got to watch that. It has a lot of, has kind of a twist and a turn.
(28:30):
We might have to cover that soon. We have to.
We'll cover it for sure, but maybe we'll put it on the docket.
Tusk which i still haven't watched dude so
i get mixed reviews on this i don't know if i would like it
but i maybe it might be entertaining i do like justin long
then more recently looks like he was in goosebumps the tv series man you're
(28:51):
you're missing some live free die hard maria's favorite actor bruce willis he
was in that one it was pretty good he's not that into you he's just not
that into you going the distance drag me
to hell which we just watched for fun guys
that one was good a sam raimi movie you like that movie when did we watch that
(29:15):
it was a weekend you were working a little bit but then you ended up stop working
and you ended up watching the movie remember it has her in the end getting dragged
to hell in the train tracks oh yeah and uh yeah Yeah, I remember that.
And then some of his TV, like you said, Goosebumps is his most recent,
but he was in Ed, New Girl, and F is for Family.
(29:38):
Oh, yeah, New Girl. He dated Jesse.
One cool thing I found, so for his name or the character's name,
Jerry Jenner, he was given the name as a tribute to Stephen King's It.
It was the same name as the town in It. Yeah, Derry.
Yeah, the fictional town. That's awesome. I didn't know that.
(30:01):
Yes, sir. Very, very cool.
And then you also have Jonathan Breck as the Creeper.
Oh, yeah. How do you feel about this guy as the Creeper? I thought he did a pretty good job.
He did a really good job. Apparently, when he auditioned, he was not a fan of horror.
So he auditioned as kind of like a thing for him to face his own fears. Who is this psychopath?
(30:24):
And in doing his trying to get ready for this role, he
researched like different animal movements and when he went
in an addition he shaved off his head um because
he said and you know image the creep having a hair and then
he also took part of this what they call the
sniff test he was told to go around and sniff the casting crew
while in character oh my god he got
(30:46):
the rule yeah he was in
jeepers creepers one two and three another movie
called mask make mask masker spiders
and then apparently he was in spied kids so he
doesn't like horror but then he did and then after that he stuck
to horror yeah he faced his fears and conquered
yeah and then you have eileen brennan as
(31:08):
the cat lady and then patricia belcher as
giselle gay hartman the psychic she was
also in bones she was and i liked her in this movie too and then you have Brandon
Smith as Sergeant Davis Tubbs that guy's the dude at the counter he's like that
guy's like we don't got power or from the phones or the lights what's going on around here laughing.
(31:34):
So, yeah, I mean, the cast is a mix of then up and coming stars like Justin
Long and established actors like Eileen Brennan,
creating a memorable dynamic that contributed to the film's tense atmosphere
and also the director's vision.
(31:55):
Did you so the research, did you want to touch on this a little bit?
Are we going into the budget? Are we talking about? Oh, I was going to say the
producers and the director.
So director of the Jeeper Creepers franchise was Victor Salva.
(32:15):
So in doing our research, apparently he was a shitty person.
He did some messed up stuff.
Or at least made a mistake. He did do some messed up, like a messed up thing.
We, after this, we didn't want to go too down into the rabbit hole and get political
or anything. We're trying to do the podcast.
And focus on the movies it sounds like
(32:36):
it's briefly brushed over it
he did time for the stuff that
he did yeah yeah child pornography and
and the the allegations and what he was convicted for yeah with the young young
child right yeah he pled guilty he did like 15 months in jail and apparently
(33:00):
there was an interview where he said he did like he's been in therapy for like the past 20 years.
But we just wanted to touch on it, acknowledge that we were aware for purposes of today's episode.
We just want to focus on the movie and not... And we don't condone by any means.
But that being said, this doesn't play an effect on the movie and the other
(33:20):
artists that partaked in this movie.
It was a whole team that just happened to be one person that maybe had the idea and the vision.
But as a whole, we just are trying to celebrate the movie that sparked a whole character.
And series franchise a
franchise yeah well said richard and then
(33:41):
what's cool i want to tie this together i'm so excited about this i'm glad in
the research the executive producer it was this film was released in 2001 but
francis for coppola also served as an executive producer through his
production company, American Zootrope.
The main producers for the film were Barry Opper and Tom Luce.
(34:05):
Barry Opper had previously worked on other films, and his involvement in Jeepers
Creepers helped shape its direction and production, ensuring that the film captured
the eerie and suspenseful atmosphere central for successful horror movies.
So again, Francis Ford Coppola. What did he direct?
(34:26):
Godfather. the one two and three no good fellows martin scorsese come on man
he's testing you man god damn it,
Apparently, this film was one of the five to be produced as part of a 1991 agreement
between Germany's VCL Films and United Artists to co-finance titles from Coppola's American... Who?
(34:54):
So trippy. It's budgeted at $10 million.
Can you say his last name again? No. Coppola. Coppola? Coppola.
Coppola? Coppola. Coppola. There.
Oh, my God. I hate you so freaking much.
So that, what we're, we wanted to kind of cover, 2001 obviously was a big year and kind of just.
(35:17):
The world? Yeah, a lot of craziness was happening.
First, you have Wikipedia, which we were highly advising freaking college not to use as a eraser.
Dude, college and high school, but you know what? Wikipedia took over.
It has like no stopping it.
No, it took a life of its own. Yeah.
(35:41):
Also, the launch of the iPad or iPod came out. First iPod released by freaking Apple.
George W. Bush became the 43rd president of the United States.
Damn, what a hypocriticizer. What a hypocriticizer. I'm just kidding.
That dude was funny. He was, he was hilarious.
Apparently, the Netherlands became the first country to legalize same-sex marriage
(36:07):
versus U.S. that took place in 2015.
Damn, that was 2001? Yeah, they were ahead of their time. Wow.
The trailblazers and then because i'm
an accountant i had to bring this up there was
a huge scandal that we all learned about
in our canon classes and run and run
(36:28):
files for chapter 11 bankruptcy scandal
which was one of the most notable cases of corporate
fraud and corruption and history dude at
12 years old i knew about this and then oh
yeah i remember talking about about it or not talking about but hearing about
it all over dude this was true like the ceo apparently
rip after this happened they were coming after
(36:50):
him to interview him and he took his own life hey man he was kind of a dirtbag
crazy like people just yeah and then the big world event do you want to touch
on this yeah my birthday my 12th birthday dude your poor Poor thing.
(37:11):
No, this was. Which coincided with. It's the Twin Towers. There you go.
You need to stand sad for this.
Gosh. Gosh. Never forget. Never forget. Yeah.
The big terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, which eventually led to
the war on Afghanistan, which lasted 20 years.
(37:34):
That's a lot of years. 20 years? Yeah. Yeah, the U.S. would join the troops in 2021.
So that was just a few years ago. Yeah, Jesus Christ. And estimated to have
cost $2.2 trillion. Dang.
That's pretty crazy. That is crazy. Man, wow. Wow. Way to kill the buzz here,
(37:55):
man. That's a lot of money.
Buzz Killington over here. Buzz Killington. All right, should we take a break real quick?
Sure, sure, sure. All right, we will be right back.
All right. And we're back. So on the break, we were talking about this.
Right before the break, we were talking about terrorist attacks. Never forget.
(38:18):
Never forget. So it got me on that memorable day, unforgettable day.
So I want to tell you guys a story of mine. And this is real, 100% real.
So let me tell you about it.
It's my 12th birthday. birthday if you can picture this
it's september 11th 2001 the world
(38:39):
is having a historically bad day and here
i am in my living room about to
have the weirdest birthday ever dude this
sounds like a setup for a dark comedy exactly there i was and i was unwrapping
my gifts while the news was on i have this image burned in my head burned in
(39:01):
my brain of my grandparents they were sitting there Party hats on.
Looking like the saddest birthday clowns you've ever seen.
They had pieces of cake. Everybody had pieces of cake.
What flavor cake was it? In their laps, it was vanilla Costco cake.
But everybody had pieces of cake on the table in their laps.
(39:22):
But no one had the heart to eat the birthday cake.
It sounds like a really, it would have been a really awkward birthday party.
Yes. So it continues. It gets better.
That's not even the worst part. So that's forever burning my brain.
My grandparents, rest their souls.
So, it really was awkward. I mean, how do you blow out candles and wish for
(39:46):
a new bike when the world's in turmoil?
Yeah. Every time I was, I shit you not, every time I was ripping open some wrapping
paper, it felt like I was breaking a moment of silence. Jesus.
Well, did you get any good presents at least? Dude, that's funny that you say that.
Okay, so I did. I totally got some great stuff, but the highlight or maybe the
(40:11):
low light, some people would think and kind of in bad taste was when I opened
one of my presents. I shit you not.
It was a model airplane kit.
Talk about fucking awkward timing.
My uncle, and I don't think he got this because I don't think he realized his
name was on this present.
(40:32):
But like, I think maybe his girlfriend or wife at the time, my aunt at the time bought it.
But he gave me the gift and he had
the most awkward look on his face and as
i was opening it because like someone had mentioned it like
oh he's opening your gift and then all of a sudden i
just hear this oh no in slow motion dude he's like oh man he felt like an asshole
(40:57):
a model airplane i swear to god it was like a boeing 757 or some shit did you
throw it away no man i set that I think I still got it.
I got to go in the basement and find this airplane.
I think I got it, and I'll take a picture and put it on Instagram.
Well, Richard, it sounds like you know how to throw a freaking memorable party.
(41:18):
I don't know about throwing a party, but it's just not every day your birthday
coincides with a major historical event.
Hey, but on the bright side, my birthday is super easy to remember.
My dad has never forgot it since that 12th birthday.
My God. And now whenever I have to tell someone my birth date,
I get the best reactions.
It's always something like tough break kid or, or wow, that must've been a,
(41:42):
that must've been different.
But my personal favorite, and this one I always remember, this literally happened.
I was at, like, I was renewing my license or, like, I was at the Social Security
office getting my Social Security card or whatever.
This lady, I give her my card, my ID, and it has my birthday.
And she's like, hmm, sucks to suck. Oh, my God. With a shoulder shrug.
(42:05):
Hmm, sucks to suck. Oh, wow.
This was funny. It's always a conversation starter, to say the least.
But I also, in these conversations, I always end the conversation with kind
of the inside joke we have now. Never forget.
It's okay, guys, because my birthday is shared with this. So I can say this, okay? Never forget.
(42:30):
Terrible. Anyways, I just wanted to share a memorable story.
Oh, my God. It's burned in my brains. Hopefully, it's burned in all of your
brains out there, too. Just traumatize everyone.
Oh, God, it is true. My dad has never forgot my birthday since my 12th birthday.
Did anyone else ever gift you any other airplanes after?
(42:53):
No, I haven't. And I used to be into model airplanes. I shit you not, it was fun.
It turned into like model cars and trains. Moving away from that.
But I was 12, so I was getting to the age where maybe gifts weren't as cool. That's cool.
Jesus. Anyways, let's get back to Jeepers Creepers. Do you want to talk about the plot? The plot.
(43:19):
Pilates. What? I don't know.
Dude, this movie was fun to research. Was it? It was. You enjoyed it?
There's a lot of information out there that I didn't know.
I wasn't sure if you did your research or not, to be honest with you.
You weren't taking notes when we watched this movie together.
You didn't take any notes. I was enjoying it.
(43:39):
It's awesome. I enjoyed it, too. And now that I do see that you have page upon
pages of notes, I was just surprised.
Usually you're like typing away, taking your notes.
Well, usually I'm like typing away my scene by scene so I can remember, which I did last night.
The first time I wanted to just take it all in, fuel the emotions,
(43:59):
take me through the ride.
And then last night I stayed up late typing my notes, organizing it because I have OCD.
You took my advice, enjoy the movie and then do the notes.
Well, somebody had to take notes during the movie. Oh my God.
I take this very seriously.
(44:20):
Okay, back to the plot. So...
Get your giggles out continue continue continue continue i'm sorry i can't take
you serious after you thought jason vorhees was michael myers this is why i'm
hard on her about taking notes guys,
they all wear masks that's somehow justifiable that is not get get the hell
(44:47):
out of here it was confusing they were all blurring i literally have a poster
of friday the 13th The Friday the 13th doesn't have a face.
And the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. With a knife.
Oh, my. And the cabin. That dude has a mask. Leather face. He has leather face.
Oh, my God. Put a mask on this one and I'll remember.
(45:08):
Anyways, back to the plot, Richard. Jason has a hockey mask on. Yes.
Michael Myers has a Captain Kirk mask on. Why do they all got to look familiar?
One of them looks like, no. What's his name? God damn it. Voorhees.
Continue. you is it myers or he's with
the croc mask the what
(45:29):
you're the croc sandals that's what it reminds me of the hockey mask crocs yeah
because the holes the other day when you were wearing your your crocs i was
like oh look you have a the hockey mask i didn't get that joke oh my fucking
god God, that makes it hilarious.
(45:49):
I love it. So every time you wear them.
My little. Oh, dude, we should do that. I bet someone has little Crocs.
We can get white Crocs and put little Vories, the red.
No, I'm going to get you the little pins that you stick. No, that's stupid.
I'm too cool for that. Bird the idea.
(46:09):
The plot. Oh, yes, the plot. Continue, continue.
After making a horrific discovery in the basement of an old abandoned church,
Trish and her brother Derry watch their routine road trip home from college
turn into a heart-stopping race for their lives.
They find themselves the chosen prey of an indestructible force that relentlessly
(46:33):
pursues them and gives them a new and chilling meaning to the old song, Jeepers, Crippers.
Well said well said what is
your plot saying mine okay i
guess i'll read my version i guess i'll read my
version two siblings trish and dairy are driving home through a remote countryside
(46:54):
when they encounter a messing driver who tries to run them off the road curiosity
leads them to discover a chilling secret and an abandoned church a collection
of bodies that hint a terrifying predator.
As they delve deeper, they find themselves pursued by the creeper.
Tomatoes, tomatoes. Man, I like them both. You did great, babe.
(47:17):
Oh, thanks. Thanks, thanks, thanks. So, yeah.
So, yeah.
Did you know? Apparently, this was another low-budget film.
Oh, yeah. How much was it made for? So, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer financed this film with $2.7 million.
(47:41):
Dollars and the rest of the budget was
financed by independent companies apparently mgm didn't have good expectations
of the film so they didn't even take into account setting up a premiere and
then after budget cuts there was approximately like 10 million dollars and the
budget to make the movie and it ended up grossing 15.8 million dollars,
(48:04):
over a four-day labor weekend which it sounded
like it was a record usually people are out not at
the movie theaters and then overall it earned 37.9
million in north america and worldwide worldwide
worldwide pretty pretty good for not
people not putting marketing effort into it it just
(48:26):
shows how word of mouth just spreads if something's good which
this movie is that good like at the time oh my god it's original i like it i
enjoyed it so yeah just to get into it guys the opening scene we have our our
two main characters riding down the road.
(48:48):
Run run run apparently this movie
was also resembling a true
crime another true frame that took
place and it resembles an episode on
unsolved mysteries from what year
was it like 1992 or something so i do
have facts on that it's in 1992
(49:10):
it was a dude who dumped his wife at a
school behind a school and they ended
up what was his name dupree it was the
pew the pew the pew yeah so the silva got got the got the story from there he
got the idea yeah the intro of it i think this the scene so it takes place in
(49:32):
florida this to me looked like like iowa or like you know like Nebraska.
I didn't get a Florida feel out of this movie whatsoever, but it takes place in Poho, Florida.
Yeah. Or what was the other, Petwilla or whatever?
Something like that. Yeah. Yeah, apparently it didn't look deserted enough originally,
(49:55):
so they did ask local homeowners to remove their mailboxes temporarily so they
could make it look more deserted on that road.
So I read that they shot this a lot in California, different deserts,
scenes like a desert, and then just different areas to make it look like that.
(50:16):
But a lot of it was shot in Florida also.
The other thing, when they were in Florida,
there were so many insects and it was so noisy that oftentimes the crew had
to go and do shots outside with a pistol before the cameras started rolling
to kind of silence the bugs a little bit so they can get some of their scenes going.
(50:39):
Yeah, that's fascinating. So the opening scene, they're coming down.
They're playing a game that I actually like. This is something that I haven't
played in quite a while, but we used to play throughout time with my family. We'd play that.
How about you? Did you ever play the license plate game?
Recently, Vian and I do it. We give my cars a name depending on the license plate.
(51:05):
Yeah, I love it. I like the intro when they're guessing and he's like, forever, gay forever.
Gay fever. Gay fever. and she's like oh dude that's a six bro it's sexy forever
i thought that was so fucking hilarious he looks so defeated he's like she's like gay fever.
(51:27):
And then they pass they pass them and it's
basically showing the banter and it truthfully is
believable they got chemistry you believe that they're boy
sampling yeah siblings like twins i
think they're twins okay from what it says
i could be wrong but you really get that feeling
or i do it didn't take me out of it i thought truthfully they
(51:48):
could play pass off as real as siblings feelings
but so yeah they're playing
this game they're still bullshitting arguing about the
license plates what the score is and the cool
effect of this movie i don't know if you noticed
like for you but i knew i noticed this.
And when i first saw it it scared the shit out of me the anticipation
(52:10):
anxiety that truck in the
distance coming up to them like i'm focusing on
what they're saying right but my eye
always gravitates towards the back and seeing
that car come up just because when i drive i always
have that feeling too that that anxiety that but you're
creeping up to someone no no that they
(52:31):
are that someone is but he and
they're miles away that truck's miles away and it's
coming up did you like have that effect or do you pay attention
to that i was you could see it in the background it was
blurred out and as you see it coming up you
it's more in the focus and you're like oh shoot yeah and then this rusty old
truck comes in now that's a that's a chevy cab over engine truck it's old school
(52:57):
very cool that they were even to get this for on that 10 million dollar budget
they they made that look really creepy too they made.
Some modifications to that COB truck.
Yeah. And that's super cool.
Well, apparently they borrowed it. It's owned by a private collector.
And Marilyn, he keeps it as a relic. And so he let them use it also in Jeepers Creepers 3.
(53:21):
And then occasionally this guy, he rents it out for events and then conventions.
Yeah, that's pretty awesome.
So yeah, they, and then, so this truck comes up looking menacing as fuck.
The, the windows are tinted. Can't see anything. They're freaking out.
Like, Hey, pass me, pass me, pass me. And the guy won't, he's just egging them on.
(53:44):
They're kind of going all over the road. And Patricia Trish is like, Hey man, let him pass.
And Derry. Yeah. Derry's like, dude, I'm trying to let him, this guy's fucking crazy.
I don't know what the fuck. and then they finally the guy
does pass and they're side by side and again you can't
see in the window it makes it super intense and
kind of scary when you can't see and the guy's just
(54:06):
being a total asshole and then the license plate initially
derry catches it and it's beating
you but we do know later on because
of the context of the story it's be eating you which
i thought it was kind of clever and then the joke everybody does how
did he get this a vanity plate i don't
(54:27):
know go with it guys it's a movie he went
to the licensing department and got
it done okay yeah man no discriminate i have a question for you sure sure so
you know when the truck passes them and trish is like what is his problem and
dary's like inbreeding is his problem And breathing, he yells it out the window.
(54:52):
So you, being a phlebotomist, what was the fact that you told me about...
What are you talking about? It has to do with blood. I don't think it was me,
dog. It wasn't you? Mm-mm.
Oh. I'll have to go back to my notes. Oh.
Yes. Anyways, inbreeding, quite fascinating. You made that awkward, dude.
(55:19):
Someone was telling me something about... It wasn't me, man. Oh, my God.
There's a lot of horror movies about inbreeding. i don't
know a and a b positive negative kissing cousins
might be the blood i don't know it's science
no one in
trish after this she brings up that they're apparently on that same road
(55:41):
that they were in there was at one point
there were students that went missing a long
time ago oh yeah do you remember the names one was
kenny and darla darla they were never
found that was 1978 78 and it
was 20 years ago yeah prior to
them on that and it was the same stretch of highway
(56:02):
but they said it was like 100 miles away which is it makes sense because this
guy's covering that whole highway like he's going in between counties he's hungry
yeah but no that's just fascinating you don't really know how much stretch of
that highway he's actually doing um think about that Because he's taking,
when we do get to that point, when we go to his little lair,
(56:24):
there's hundreds of bodies on this wall.
It can't just be one section of this highway. No. Or else people would catch on.
Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Bring them in from everywhere. Yeah, dude.
So that's just kind of fascinating. Yeah, and Trish says that they found the car, but they never.
They didn't find Kenny or the head of Darla. Of Darla. Which, also, once we get to it.
(56:50):
They make a comment of this and it doesn't make sense. Okay.
Referring to Darla's head. But yeah, so they're still driving down the road
and then lo and behold, to the left, they see the truck. They're like,
oh, there's that old brown truck.
What the heck's he doing? They kind of slow down. And then this is where you see off at a distance.
(57:11):
And it's kind of like, like, like you would be seeing this from a distance.
You can't quite make out what's happening.
You can see the truck. You can say the, see the person, but you can't make out
the person's identity or anything.
He's wearing dark clothes, but he takes out of the back of his truck,
white sheets with red all over it.
And it looks what appears to be a body's length that he throws down this pipe.
(57:35):
And he does this twice. So the first one, they're like, what the hell did we
just see? What's going on?
And then he throws a second one, turns at them, and stares at them as they're driving by.
I just want to know how these two, right, they just have this gear that's running
with this guy. He pulled up to them.
And they have a lot of play on words, I noticed.
(57:58):
Because they're watching him as he, it looks like he's grabbing these bodies
and dumping them down the pipe. And the creeper is just staring at them the
entire time. Well, not the entire time.
After the second body turns. After the second body, he's just watching them.
And then. Creepy. That would be creepy to me.
Trish or, yeah, Trish is like, what was he doing? And Derry's like dumping something
(58:21):
down the pipe. And she goes, wrapped in a sheet. And he's like.
She covered in red. Wrapped in a sheet, roped in sheet with red stays on it.
Yeah. I was like, damn, you guys have the patience to stay here.
So, again, it shows them as siblings, even twins. Like, they have that kind
of that bond where they just have that chemistry going together.
(58:43):
That's how I felt with that. Like, where they're going with that.
So, they're piecing it together. They're like, what the fuck?
So, they get down the road. They see this guy peel out. They're like,
oh, shit, he's getting back on the road.
They speed up. They're trying to get out of there. Well, his truck's,
like, souped up or something.
And it's able to catch up to him and this time he is trying to run him off the road and he,
(59:07):
hits the back of their car just rear ends them super hard a couple times and
obviously that's a pretty intense situation i don't know how i would handle
that but dairy he does a maneuver and then he ends up going on the side of the
road into a field at that point yeah and then they get
out of the car to check after the creeper drives past.
(59:30):
They get up to see the diamond and then they start bringing up,
you know, like what, what do you think that we just see back there?
And then Trish is trying to brush it off. And she's like, you know,
we just need to get out of here. And Derry's the one who won't let it go.
And he's like, what if they're still alive?
And she's like, well, we'll be more helpful if we get the hell out of here and go call the police.
(59:53):
So what would you do in this situation? I would leave.
You would? I'm kind of with Derry. And now it is kind of frustrating.
It kind of builds up that old trope of doing a stupid thing.
But, that being said, I'm a super curious person, and I know I'd probably convince
you to go back there. I wouldn't. I would leave your ass there.
(01:00:15):
You certainly wouldn't get out of the car, but I know you'd drive up there.
You're like, Richard, goddammit, you'd call me an idiot and stupido.
But you would ultimately let me do it because I wouldn't shut up about it.
No, no. Yes, and then I would check that out. I would be one.
I know for certain. I would check that out.
(01:00:38):
And especially if someone needs help, if they dumped a body,
dude. You know what? Survival of the fittest. That's crazy.
I want to live, man. So do I. I'm not saying I want to kill myself or get killed, but I would.
So this point, Derry convinces her, like, hey, man, what if they're alive?
(01:00:58):
How would you feel if- That was you. Yeah, if that was you. And she's like,
fuck. All right. But I'm not getting out of the car. Yeah.
And he's like, okay, you don't have to. But when they go, finally,
he gets out of the car, goes, checks it out.
She gets out with them because she's curious. After all, she is there.
They're yelling. It's her brother. They're looking, but they're looking down
(01:01:21):
this pipe. It's pitch black.
And you're getting an angle of the camera looking up at them through the pipe.
At this point, they're yelling and they don't see anything. dairy is
asking trish to go grab a
flashlight right yeah and they
both mentioned that it stinks just standing over the pipe oh like it's sewage
(01:01:42):
or something like there's a musky smell like death but they don't say death
they think it's like sewage or something because she mentions that later too
like god wash yourself off you smell like sewage she makes a reference about like
asks when he's going to wash his socks no no
no no like when they get to the diner she's like dude wash yourself off it looks
(01:02:04):
it looks and you smell like a sewer but yeah so anyways he at this point doesn't
hear anything or doesn't see anything so he starts walking away and then he
hears like a moan come through there and then he comes right back.
Yeah, yeah, he thinks he heard something. Yeah, so he's even more curious.
(01:02:25):
That's when he's, like, all the red flags are going off. He's like,
oh, God, someone's down there.
So he tries to get more.
He's got the flashlight trying to get more of a view down there.
So he's going in the pipe, and he's like, hold my shoes or hold my feet or whatever.
So he's dangling down there.
And then at this point, still can't see anything, but they both hear a moan at this point.
(01:02:50):
Yeah, and then Trish, as he's trying to get ready to poke his head down there,
she's like, you know that part in scary movies when someone does something really
stupid and everyone hates them for it? She's like, this is it.
Like, she's agreeing to be there with him.
But she's irritated because this is stupid that you're doing that,
especially if their bodies were dumped or if you get stuck down there.
(01:03:14):
So he's dangling down there. This is kind of a funny part.
It cracks me up. of like the mice are right there and
then he it's kind of silly his feet are
kicking like a kid's feet it's kind
of like this is one scene that i'm like oh this is kind of cheesy where he's
kicking then she's full body starts and she lets go yeah she lets go and then
(01:03:36):
he slides down and then you see that dramatic effect the falling scene cracked
me up a little bit i was like oh i so i like that
scene I can appreciate but I see what you're talking about it's like slow-mo he's
like slow it almost looks paused for
a second and his mouth is I get that it's
the falling motion that his mouth is being opened but it
looks extra stretched out at one point and then finally he lands over overacting
(01:04:01):
yeah but he then he does hit his head really hard and it looks like he's like
he's knocked out temporarily like very quickly like he wakes up but he hits his head hard card.
So he's kind of concussed, you'd think. Yeah. He has a cut on his hand.
Ripped shirt. Has an interesting choice of tattoo on his next to his belly button.
(01:04:23):
Yeah, can we talk about that kind of, that rose tattoo?
I want to know the backstory of that. Is that real? I think for purposes of
the movie, it was supposed to be.
But there's no detail to it. It's just like black, like shade of the rose next to his belly button.
Oh, my God. I was like, oh, okay.
(01:04:45):
So funny. They could have picked, I don't know. I'm curious why that specific design. Yeah. Yeah.
But yeah, so he gets up. He's like, he's kind of pissed. He's like,
God damn it. And he's blaming his sister.
He's like, God, one time I need your help. You fucking pull this shit.
Yeah. Like, it's her fault. Dude, she was hanging on to you,
bro. And she's all but, what, 110 pounds?
(01:05:08):
Holding on to your ass. And you fucking freak out like a toddler.
And fucking it's your fault you
went in the tube dude yeah she's like i'm sorry he's
like not more than i am yeah and
then he's like ah shucks the look i have as he's
like he rips his shirt off like some part of his
shirt so he can wrap his hand yeah but then
(01:05:30):
he gets up and this is the cool effect of
being down there you're seeing this scene where
it's completely pitch black pitch-black but it has that
effect where when you're in the dark when you
go to bed and you're laying in bed at first it's pitch black but
then your eyes start to adjust they do
a cool effect where your eyes are the cameras adjusting to the light and you're
(01:05:52):
starting to see what he's seeing so like it comes up and then he sees the body
right there right in front of him yeah and at this point he's like hey and the
i don't is it talking initially or is it moaning initially I think there's like a faint noise.
And so he walks up to her and he's like, did I hear you down here? Yeah, is this you?
And then at this point, then the body starts moving around, right?
(01:06:15):
And he's completely startled.
Yeah, and he reaches, he kind of yells at Trish and he's like, I found her body.
And then that's when the- Starts moving. Yeah, the hand reaches out and grabs his leg.
Yeah, and he freaks out and he tries to rip the, he rips the sheet off his head,
the kid's head. and he's super pale looking does not look like in good shape
(01:06:36):
right but his hair is fucking incredible.
I'm just saying this dude had product in
his hair and it looked perfect for having a sheet on his head i'm sorry it would
look all matted down yeah and he kind of he's apparently also in this movie
for budgeting purposes this this body that he finds is supposed to have a line
(01:07:00):
but they They had to write it off due to budget cuts.
What's the line? I don't know. I couldn't find it.
The body was? Yeah. So what does he, he is trying to tell him. He's trying to tell him.
He has his hand kind of in a clutch fist. Is it like. To run his torso.
But no, is he like trying to say hide or run? I think he's trying to say like run or hide.
(01:07:22):
I don't know. Apparently it was expensive.
But yeah, so he rips open the thing. The dude's torso shows it. It's all sewn up.
And that would be the creepiest thing. And the guy's like, and Justin Long's
like, dude, I'm trying to, I'll get you out.
Whatever and he's trying to listen to him what are you trying to
say he leans close and that's what my guy's done for he's done so he doesn't
(01:07:44):
even look at the other body he just looks at that guy yeah yeah then you know
meanwhile jerry's having all this interaction with this body that he found trish
is in the dark out there she doesn't know what's happening she's screaming,
she's freaking out and she's like hey you know she's yelling at him like what's wrong,
What any normal person would like, dude, what's going on down there? What are you doing?
(01:08:08):
Yeah. So you're in, you're essentially in the dark. You're like, what the fuck?
So at this point he gets up and he's like, look.
We got to figure this out. I got to, because it really, it's the basement of
this church is what they say.
Did the creeper install that tube, do you think? I think he did.
(01:08:28):
He did? I think he did, because what's the reason to have that there in the basement?
I don't know. That little, that sewer tube, that Cylon thing.
Either it was there or he installed it. I think, so what other reason,
what other reason would you have that in the basement? I don't know whatever
crazy culty things the church was doing.
So I don't think any culty things were happening.
(01:08:51):
But I think he might have done it. My imagination goes there.
Okay. But so Derry's like, dude, I'll find an exit.
But you got to go see and watch the road to make sure if this fucker comes back,
you come right back and yell for me so I know.
And also she was able to flag anyone who would be able to come back and help.
And for help. up which she's really not trying too hard
(01:09:14):
because she's just leaning there just like hating life she's
like god damn it and not even looking at the road i would be looking both ways
making sure that i see as far as i can if i see anything the thing that i thought
about this okay because he says either go flag someone on for help and if you
see the truck you come back here and let me know Now,
(01:09:36):
as fast as this car was driving,
how is she supposed to beat him, the creeper, to get there to the church first
and let Derry know that he's coming and take off again?
Whatever the plan was. I think her plan's good because she gets in the car and
she sees a car coming, right? A big truck.
(01:09:56):
And so she gets in there. She starts the car. She honks.
She lays on the horn. I think that is a good way of letting someone know trouble's coming.
I guess if she was parked close to the church.
What do you mean? For Derry to hear. Oh, that horn's loud. You're going to hear
that, especially down that tube. You could hear that.
(01:10:18):
So I think she did the right thing, laid on it. But in that,
was she trying to get the fuck out of there?
Because she tries. She tries to start the car. This lady cannot.
This poor transmission is going to be fucking blown by the time she's done with it.
Because she can't even hit it. She can't even hit it into gear.
Freaking out. out but that's okay because it's
(01:10:39):
just an old farming truck passing by and she
has a sense of relief at that point but it
doesn't show up but derry gets out and then startles her
scares her well before he gets out
he sees what's down in the freaking basement oh shit
i totally forgot over this i know go through
(01:10:59):
it he you know as soon as she
leaves he turns around he grabs the a flashlight and starts
looking around and then there's a cool effect
with the camera just starts kind of panning out and wide so when
he's tying his shoe you see it before he does with
the flashlight that's what you're talking about panning out well yeah at first
you can see spider webs so this place is looks abandoned and there's spider
(01:11:22):
webs there's like tools hooks just everything looks rusty and old and then he
sees his shoe is untied so i kind of gotta sorry to to stop you.
I'll let you continue, but I'm kind of confused on this.
When he sees all those tools, isn't the Creeper using this stuff?
Why is it covered in cobwebs?
Maybe this is stuff that's old. Is this the first day that he's hunting?
(01:11:47):
Because it doesn't specify. And that kind of makes sense to have all your tools
dusty and shit. It's been 23 years.
Potentially because from what I saw, Jeepers Creepers, you know, that we're trying to.
To when they filmed Jeepers Creepers 2
following the rules that the creeper only comes out
every 23 years they were trying to figure out how is
(01:12:07):
this going to pan in timeline wise when you're talking about 23 years so apparently
Jeepers Creepers 2 is supposed to take place within the same type the next day
yeah so so maybe he just started yeah maybe this was the first day or the second day,
and those were the first bodies that he got.
(01:12:29):
Before you continue again, I have a question for you.
What part of your body do you think he would eat to make his?
I don't know. Hmm? I don't know. I don't know.
You're staring at me. You're scaring me. I'm looking at it.
I think you have the most beautiful ears. My ears?
(01:12:53):
Mm-hmm. Okay. And you hear really well. Like, I've whispered things,
and you're like, shut up. You know what I mean? I'm like, damn, you heard that shit.
When they say something under my breath, I'm like, god damn it.
Say it to my face. Yeah, exactly.
I think they would take your eyes. I know. I got beautiful eyes.
You got beautiful eyes with a little amber color. Stop.
(01:13:17):
You're blushing. I'm just kidding. And now you are.
Oh god not richard's eyes you got that tone man you got the silver tongue you know what to say.
He'll take your tongue he'll take your tongue but anyways
continue he ties his shoe sees the bodies or the bodies do and then he turns
(01:13:40):
around and looks right yeah he's tying his shoe and then you can start seeing
some of the bodies like creepy they're everywhere on the walls and then And
there's like this liquid starts dripping from the top and it falls on his shoe.
So that's what prompts him to, he gets up, grabs the flashlight again.
And then he points the freaking flashlight up. And then he just sees bodies everywhere.
(01:14:03):
Nude bodies just covering the walls and all this kind of weird positions.
Yeah. At this point, he's almost, he's silent. He's quiet. Trying to take it all in in shock.
And it is pretty like, that would be shocking. i i don't know like i would be
freaked out like the terror oh yeah could you imagine that no,
(01:14:25):
because then he then he's like oh fuck i gotta get out of here yeah and that's
when he gets he finds like the opening to the thing but next to the exit is
bodies yeah that he recognizes,
or he thinks it's them no it is because he sees the class ring on kenny well
he starts yeah before Before he sees that, he sees these two bodies,
(01:14:46):
which it was weird because they're stitched to each other, like their thighs, their legs,
they're holding hands, the bodies. Right. On the wall.
So the creeper is artistic.
He wanted them to, you know, they were a couple and he just wanted them to continue
in love into the other life. Kind of sweet.
Kind of sweet. He's a little romantic. So here's my thing, and I hinted on this a little bit earlier.
(01:15:12):
Darla's head was never found. her body was
so whose body was darla's head
attached to because he makes the comment too he's like he cut
off darla's head that is accurate you know what he
did he sewed it back on but how would
they know the head got decapitated if the creeper took
the body and the head i don't know they never explained
(01:15:33):
on that exactly it doesn't make sense so i'm thinking maybe
that's a random body that maybe he
ate the head maybe ate the head and then
just fucking kept that body for darla and sewed
that together yeah but you're right yeah he notices the
class ring and that's where he's like yep definitely canny and
darla but yeah and then he this is where he startles um his sister trish in
(01:15:59):
the car yeah it's because of jesus out of her yeah and he's just catatonic at
this point he's can't say anything his eyes are big he's not even blinking.
And this, she immediately changes her tune, though. She's freaked out at first,
but then she's like, dude, dude, are you okay?
Talk to me. Yeah, and he doesn't say shit. And then they get back on the road,
(01:16:21):
and she's talking to him, but he's still not responding. He's still in his head about it.
And that's when he makes the comment about Darla.
Yeah. And she's like, what? What are you talking about?
And she's thinking, hey, man, you hit your head really hard.
She can't believe it, because it does sound pretty intense.
Yeah. Yeah, I mean, unless you see it, it sounds like something pretty incredible
(01:16:45):
to believe that it's real. Right, right.
Which, if I didn't see it, I'd be like, yeah, right, dude. There's no way, yeah.
So, at this point, they're down the road, and they make a choice.
They're like, well, we gotta stop for gas, and we gotta call the authorities.
So, they end up stopping for gas. and this
(01:17:06):
is where the creeper now it
kind of hints on it it hints on scent at this
point right yeah so they get to this restaurant it's called opera restaurant
cool little fact the name of the restaurant so opera is a tribute to barry opera
who is a producer oh yeah and this movie and he was also on the critters movie
(01:17:27):
he collaborated on the film but on critters what one whichever Which everyone came out in 1986.
Oh, the original. The original. There you go. Nice.
But they get out of the car. They're talking about, you know,
they're making a plan. And then they see the creeper's car drive by really, really fast.
(01:17:47):
Oh, yeah. They're like, oh, he's going back.
And then Derry paddocks a little bit. You know, he's like, he's driving back
to the church. And he's going to know we were there.
So they're like, all right. She kind of drives him at that point because he's
freaking out. And she's like, dude, we need to get out of the road if he's really
looking for us. And she drags him inside the restaurant.
(01:18:07):
And she's like, hey, man, wash yourself up. You smell like the sewer.
And she's asking people to call the police.
They're getting in here. Now, my vibe, and I could be wrong on this.
I don't know what your interpretation was.
Everybody looks at him. It's like, do the locals know what's going on?
I mean, they do have a genuine look like, oh, they need help.
(01:18:29):
But I kind of got the vibe like do they could know what's going on and like
sacrificing some people.
Yeah, and... I don't know. What do you think?
I don't know. Maybe... To me, it looked like they were just kind of confused.
Like, where are these, you know, outsiders coming in here? They look like crap,
(01:18:50):
and they're demanding for someone to call the police.
But they're genuine with wanting to help, because they're like,
oh, okay, we'll call the cop.
Or, yeah, we'll call the police. And a lot of those people look like they're just, like, passerbys.
Yeah. And then, you know, Darigan, he's fucking processing everything he saw down there.
And freaking out a little bit, and Trish just kind of shakes him,
(01:19:13):
and she's like, come on, brat.
I need you to pull it together. We're going to call the police.
Tell them everything that you saw.
And this is when it also gives you a little hint of what attracts the creeper,
and Derry says that he is so, so, so scared,
after everything he saw, because one of the things that's referenced here soon.
(01:19:35):
Is that the creeper...
I know, but in this moment, what what did you say
what triggered it no dairy's it
gives you a hint of what the creeper is attracted to and why
he's he's following them because there he says he's so so
scared oh yeah and then later on they um the psychic starts talking about fear
(01:19:57):
yeah so he sniffs fear yeah i didn't catch that part in that movie that's good
because he really emphasized it to her he's He's like, Trish, I am so scared.
So as they're waiting for the police to be called, the pay phone that they're next to goes off.
And then the slow guy, he's like, are you going to answer that?
(01:20:20):
And she's like, fuck, fine.
And she does. She answers it like, hello. And then that's when the lady.
Giselle. Yeah. She's like, have you seen the cat yet?
And she's like, what the fuck? Cat.
And she says more stuff to Trish. But then...
Derry takes the phone. Yeah, because she starts talking about something else
(01:20:41):
that triggers him, and he grabs the phone. He's like, who is this?
She's like, did you see everything down there? And then she's like, is this Derry?
And she starts calling out exactly what he's wearing, the ripped shirt,
the rose tattoo. And he freaks out.
He thinks it's someone out there fucking with him, and he tries to go look and
then yanks the phone. It's pretty good acting right there.
(01:21:01):
But what else? She says the cat, and then she's like, just listen to me.
And she's not being crystal clear but in
her defense these kids are being dumb ass kids
like i would be listening i'm like okay you got my attention i've
just seen some creepy shit yelling at her they're like what are you talking
about lady but instead of explaining it to him like okay slow down i'd be like
(01:21:23):
shut the fuck up for a second listen to me yeah listen listen linda listen yeah
and just sell you know she's on the phone with dairy and she's like i know what you You saw them there.
And she's like, it's the house of pain. It's what he calls it.
Yeah. With all those bodies.
So that, I like that too, that he calls it the house of pain.
Because that just makes you think even more with all those bodies on the walls.
(01:21:46):
Like he is torturing these people. These people.
Yeah. And then this is where, yeah, Derry's like, I don't know what you're talking
about. He's trying to like, you know, he doesn't want to.
I don't know what he's, doesn't just, maybe he thinks that she's crazy.
At this point, you don't have facts like start getting information.
Clearly, this lady has information.
Try to get more out of her. I would be instead of just trying to be confused.
(01:22:10):
Like, oh, what are you saying?
Like, clearly, she knows your description.
She knows your name. Try to get more info out of her, you know.
But he's left with bits and pieces.
And she even owns it. Her visions aren't crystal clear.
But she keeps saying, listen to this. If you hear this song,
(01:22:30):
run. And then it's the classic.
The Jeepers Creepers. Yeah, she's like, I don't know if it's a demon,
a devil, or just a hungry thing from some place in town.
She's like, all I know is that it's never going to stop coming for you until he gets you.
And she's like, did you see the license plate? And he's like,
what, the beating you? And she's like, no, really think about it.
(01:22:52):
And yeah, and then kind of puts it together with this song.
And she's like, if you hear this song playing, you're wrong because it means
that something's terrible coming.
Something so terrible you couldn't even dream about it. So I love...
This knowledge dump that they do here, they do it tastefully because this lady does it really good.
(01:23:13):
I like when, like you said, the demon, I don't know if it's a demon,
a beast, just something that needs to eat.
I think she did this really well because at this point, I am creeped out.
Originally, when I seen this, I was freaked out. And you're like,
whoa. I'm like, whoa, because we live in an area, and for my job,
we travel in areas like that where you're isolated down a road.
(01:23:35):
Yeah, you're going through a one-lane road.
And it's like a real situation that it could
happen so it puts me in
that place like oh god damn like when
i was 12 i'll shit you not we used to camp
all the time like it freaked me out like this movie afterwards
i even thought about i was like oh shit i want to go camping dude i
(01:23:56):
want no fucking thing coming after me eating your eyes
and then they
repay her with a fuck you lady and hang up on
her which i kind of understand that too being
22 years old or ever in college young naive and
not really understanding what's happening having that
reaction i could see happening yeah but again i don't see me doing that like
(01:24:20):
okay tell me more yeah i'm like i need more let's meet somewhere man yeah and
then they walk away and again trish is like okay we're talking We're talking
to the cops and we're getting out of here.
Yeah. And cops show up.
They, and then this is where Trish, again, she kind of, after,
you know, it's all a little bit settled, she kind of makes a dream like,
(01:24:43):
you know, everything that you mentioned, it sounds too much like a bad dream.
And Derry gets upset. He's like, are you effing kidding me? Like, you don't believe me?
And he asks her several times and won't let it go.
And he's like, look me in the eye and tell me you believe everything I said.
So I love in movies where they do this, they're screaming or they're being really
(01:25:04):
loud in a small restaurant.
Everybody would be looking at you. I'm sorry.
They would be talking in a lower voice. Like I'd be like, you don't fucking believe me.
What the fuck? yeah like i would not be super loud
and hysterical i just love that because nobody's paying attention
to him the cops can't hear him or anything and
then when they walk up they're like hey so and he's clearly grabbing his sister
(01:25:28):
like aggressively all freaked out and then the the cop comes back and you know
they're talking to them and he's like all right kid you said you saw canny and
And Darla, the kid's the one missing.
And he's like, well, the car was found.
And this was over 40 years ago.
And Jerry's like, yeah, I saw them. 20 years ago.
(01:25:49):
Was it 20 that it was 40? Oh. But he's like.
He's like, I'm just trying to get the story straight. Yeah. And Derry's like,
no, he's worried. He's like, I saw them. They had skin.
And he's like, how would they have skin? It's been 20 years.
They would be bones. Yeah.
By then. And that's where the cop. And I honestly believe the cops are just trying to get the facts.
(01:26:11):
I don't think they think what he's saying is not true. But I don't think it's
like they think it's true. That sounds a little outlandish at the moment.
Right. I think they're going to investigate it because definitely it's sounding pretty crazy.
But I think at the same time, they're trying to like, maybe he did hit his head.
Like, he looks kind of like in bad shape.
(01:26:32):
At this point, then the other people in the restaurant are like,
hey, isn't that your car?
And they go out there and clothes are strobed.
And the lady's like yeah a guy a gentleman and
dark coat or whatever was going through there
and he grabbed her clothes and he was sniffing it and it looked like
he was enjoying it he was liking it too yeah he's
(01:26:54):
really liking it and then she's like to the slow
dim-witted guy hey what direction was he going and
the guy's like over there she's such a jerk but
and then this is the funny part dairy's grabbing his clothes he's complaining
he's like you motherfuckers don't believe me this shit's happening and uh the
cops are just standing there and then he picks up his pink underwear that got
(01:27:18):
bleached and he's like now he knows my name.
Dude who especially in college is writing their name in their underwear that's
weird you never did that i never you wrote your name in your underwear you fucking
weirdo i feel like that's a psychopath thing that's a psychopath thing that's
like norman bates dude I want his undies to get lost.
(01:27:40):
I feel like Jeffrey Dahmer put his name in his underwear. Oh, my gosh.
But no and then he's like hey do you guys
want prints and they're like what and then
and then he's like can't you dust it or something and then
the cop's like hey it looks like it already was that's weird
it looks like dust falling off of the yeah handle
(01:28:01):
so they do collect it and you
know what's dumb later on in the when they're
driving down miraculously these cops got these prints
within hours not even within hours
within within an hour because they're still on
the the road driving them back to the precinct the the
cop station they're driving back there and then
(01:28:21):
they get the report they're like dude those prints the the preliminaries
came in how the fuck did you get it to them the preliminaries came in these
bodies these prints or whatever the dna came as way old and it was dead skin
is what they said yeah dead skin from 20 years ago yeah and then And then that's
when the cops are like, what the hell?
(01:28:42):
And they're driving. And at this point, Derry and Trish are in front of them.
And she's got the radio on. They're trying. At this point, they feel relieved.
Like, ah, cops are here. We can relax.
Now we can finally, after giving the report, we can get home.
At the same time, like, they're slightly confused. There's a conversation. How is he getting back?
(01:29:04):
They make it sound like the church was really far away from the restaurant. Like they drove a ways.
Yeah, and they're like, how did they get so fast from the church to the car and sniff their stuff?
He's like, he drives fast, but not that fast. Yeah.
But it does show at that restaurant, it doesn't show him, but it shows a shadow
(01:29:25):
of something flying. Flying. And Trish looks up.
So he was flying. He dumped his truck somewhere.
Also, there's a call coming from, it sounds like, other cops to the police car
that's following them. Trish and Derry on the road.
And they're like, hey, you know, they're investigating at the church that they
(01:29:46):
told them about. Yeah, this place is completely engulfed in flames.
And they're like, are those kids over there pyromaniacs? The church is on fire.
There's, like, we're not going to be able to collect any information.
And they're, yeah, everything's burned up.
And then, at this point, Trish and Derry, it's lighthearted. They're joking.
They turn on the radio. they're going through the stations and
that's when you hear my favorite version of
(01:30:07):
jeepers creepers that updated kind of like poppy
yeah part and he's like
whoa wait wait wait and they're arguing about he's like this is what she was
talking about this song but an updated version of this song and they're arguing
and it's really loud and then the cop the jeepers creepers the The creeper jumps
(01:30:28):
on the hood of the cop car and they're like, whoa, the sky's falling.
Just a second. And the lady goes out, the cop lady goes out of the passenger window to look up.
And then the creeper's standing there and rips her off.
Yeah. And she, it's like she got thrown, thrown away or something.
And then the creeper's super strong, freakishly strong, because then he bursts
(01:30:50):
through the top of the cop car and grabs the fucking, yeah, the driver.
The guy cop and his head sticking out there.
I like this scene because then he has like this ax thing. Yeah.
Cuts his head off. And then he throws, as they're arguing, Derry and Trish throws
the cop's head onto their front of the hood of their car.
(01:31:12):
They freak out. They're like, whoa, what the fuck? I don't think they quite
know what it is at this point.
So they come to a screeching halt. And at this point, the cop car,
the creeper's driving it.
And he swerves. They're at a stop, right? Mm-hmm.
Trish comes out of the car. They both stop. They're trying to figure out what happened.
(01:31:32):
At this point, they still think that it's the cops following them.
Yeah, they're like, what the fuck just happened?
So they get out of the car. And then Trish is playing the brave, the hero.
So she makes the first step, starts walking towards the cop car.
And she's like, hey, are you guys okay?
And there's nothing coming back from the car. Yeah, she's slowly walking there.
And then as she's making her way over, Derry looks on top of their car and notices that there's blood.
(01:32:02):
Like a liquid. He puts his finger on it and he's like, whoa,
Trish, we got to get the fuck out of here.
And then Trish makes another step and then she sees the cop's head.
In front of the police car. And she stops. She's like, fuck.
And then she runs back into the car and they're just sitting there.
At this point, I wouldn't even be fucking waiting around.
(01:32:22):
Is he gone? Yeah. They're just sitting there. The guy, the creeper. He comes out.
He's kind of a stud, dude. He walks out all cool, calm, collected.
He's like, yeah, I just did this shit.
He comes out. He's wearing his long coat, white hair. It looks like he has a mullet.
Mullet. And he whistles the song, the Jeepers Creepers song, all creepily.
(01:32:45):
Yeah, he's a pretty goddamn good whistler, too.
Damn, I wonder whose fucking lips he took.
Apparently, it was somebody else in the film crew that was whistling. Oh, really?
Yeah, they were trying to see if they could find someone with a better whistle. And they kept that.
So he walks in front of the car and picks up the cop's head.
(01:33:08):
And this scene was freaking hilarious.
He starts sniffing the back of the head.
Just intensely. Bend down, just taking it all in.
And then slowly turns the head around facing it
and he goes in and it looks like he's gonna make up yeah and
they're trishing dairy's jaws are dropped they're
(01:33:30):
like what the fuck and then you start hearing like this tearing ripping sound
or ripping in a terran he pulls back and then you see that he's pulling out
with his teeth the the tongue from the head that slurping is so gross by by
the way. You didn't like it? No.
(01:33:51):
I'm not a big, what is it, ASMR fan. Oh.
Anyways, but that was creepy. And then when he's pulling that tongue, oh my God.
It's so stretched out. Yeah, it's so cringy. But then now they're like,
okay, we're getting out of here.
Yeah, they're like, oh yeah, this is a good time to keep moving again. So.
(01:34:16):
This point they're going down the road, they're flying. And then he's like,
Trish, Trish, slow down, slow down.
Then she did what a typical, I think like any, like in a relationship does when
the, like when you're yelling, when someone's yelling, I feel like I've been
in this situation where maybe I, I, I'm mad or upset.
(01:34:36):
And then I make like, maybe not you upset, but you make the person upset and
they just completely stop.
She's like, you told me to stop. He's like, no, I just told you to slow down.
Slow down, you're going to kill us.
Yeah, and she just throws a fit and is like, all right, I'm stopping.
And then they're like, well, the house is here. We're going to call the cops.
And do you agree with this situation? I feel like I would just drive,
(01:34:59):
drive until I possibly couldn't drive no more. I wouldn't give a damn.
The house looks dark. Until I hit civilization.
Yeah, it's dark. It's a living hell of nowhere. Why would you think that anyone lives here?
I get trying to call, phone the police. But dude, at this point,
you just seen police get murdered.
Fuck that shit. I'm fucking flying.
I am going 100 miles an hour till I hit civilization, some form of,
(01:35:24):
you know, a town and figuring it out from there.
Yeah, but they pull, Trish, you know, decides to pull into the driveway.
There's a scarecrow in the yard, like in the garden or something.
And Derry's like, dude, we got to get out of here. What are you doing?
Yeah and then you hear a lady from inside the house and she comes out and she's
(01:35:46):
like hey who are you and you can see her silhouette coming through to the to
the front door through the screen door and crazy cat lady trish asks if she
has a phone and she's like no i don't have one
what do you need a phone for and essentially she's like i don't i don't need
them coming out here and looking at my business coming up with their zoning
(01:36:07):
crap and telling me how many any cats I can or cannot.
I know. Yeah. And she's like, whoa, dude.
We just need your phone. And she's like, well, if you needed a phone,
what would you need it for? She's like, someone's been killed. A police officer.
And then the lady changes. She's like, oh, well, since you said that.
No, she's like, oh, I thought you were going to say it was one of my babies.
(01:36:31):
And this, these cats are just alarming Derry because he on the phone, he's like cats.
He's and he's really like, we got to get the fuck out of here.
Because he knows that was the vision. Yeah.
Yeah, but at this point, the old lady is like, hey, is that guy with you?
Do you have anybody else with you?
Yeah, her babies are getting riled up. Yeah, and she sees by the scarecrow,
(01:36:55):
they all look over by the scarecrow, and there's the creeper.
Well, the cats are screeching and meowing.
I feel like it's the sound, like I always bring up South Park,
but when you're cheesing, when you show them the cat, to make the cat spray
in your face. Oh, my gosh, yeah.
Apparently, because they used tuna and they rubbed it on the screen. Oh, to cheese?
(01:37:23):
Huh? To start cheesing? No, to get them all to come to the screen to take the shot.
Oh, you're talking about Jeepers Creepers. Okay.
Oh, you thought I was talking about South Park? Yeah. No. Sorry.
Yeah. Yeah, and the lady, she's like, it looks like you brought someone with you.
(01:37:43):
And she does a total, like, fucking, I'm not scared of anything,
goes inside and grabs a shotgun. Mm-hmm.
And comes down, and she's like, that's not my scarecrow. And she's short of breath.
She's like, you got 10 seconds to get out of my property.
And at this point this is
huge it makes no sense they could have
(01:38:05):
toned down a bit a huge explosion that scarecrow
explodes and i'm pretty sure i see a big explosion i'm sorry the shotgun's gonna
spray it's not gonna do that explosion but i think she does hit the creeper
because he like lets out a like a screech and hops into the house like jumps
(01:38:25):
into the ceiling um attic or whatever
roof goes through and you hear him crashing through and
then you hear the cats freaking out oh yeah and she's
like oh not my babies dairy tries
to stop her and she's and then and
then he's like trish what are you doing we gotta get the fuck out of
here and they still just stand there is that nuts yeah i would because i'm out
(01:38:49):
at this point it's silent and then all of a sudden you hear a shotgun blast
and then you have one and then you hear a second one yeah and they're standing
there i don't know what the heck they're waiting for but you see.
The body of the lady come again into the
scene and just the silhouette of her at first and you're like whoa she's standing
(01:39:12):
there you know what happened though there he's like hello and then you see that
the creeper has her by the neck this scene was a little funny too you see her
she's He's carrying her,
lifting her up. She's wearing her cat slippers.
So was this meant to make you think that Derry and Trish think she's alive?
(01:39:33):
Because clearly you can see this hulking man behind this frail old lady.
And she's taller than she was when you first met her. And he's just like, peekaboo, it's me.
Like, dude, come on, man. Like, I don't know how I feel about that scene.
It is a little bit of maybe comedy. Were they trying to be funny?
I don't know. But then instead of a total waste of flesh because he throws her away.
(01:39:59):
Doesn't even need her. Hey, she's not trying to offend. Maybe her organs are not that good.
Oh, my gosh. I know she's old, but she ain't expired at that point.
Well, he wants something good to replace to eat. And I guess she wasn't afraid.
And if he feeds off fear, that lady was not scared.
Okay. You brought up a good point. Yeah. Yeah. I just remembered that.
(01:40:22):
I didn't put two and two together just now.
So at this point, they do get in the car.
And then the creeper is following them. And he's out in the street and this
is where they have a stare down.
And this is another part, this scene. So from the lady being thrown,
like being carried out to the screen door and then thrown to this scene in the road.
(01:40:45):
I could do without.
Because they have a stare down and then he's like, just hit him and run him over.
And then they do this like fucking matrix like
crouching tiger hidden dragon bullshit where
he's fucking running and he runs on top of the car
jumps he does a full-on mario fucking jump over the car and then at this point
(01:41:11):
they're like holy shit we didn't hit him we're gonna try it again and then she
fucking burns the transmission again reverses he does the same mario fucking
crutching tiger hidden dragon jump over and
then somehow she's like
come closer mother fucker and struggles to
(01:41:31):
get it in gear and somehow she miraculously hits him
at this point why wouldn't he just keep doing the mario jump or
fly he's got wings what
the fuck he's playing with them so yeah he was doing he was toying a little
bit i just you like the scene did you like it it was a little the back end i
(01:41:51):
liked when they ran him over that was good yeah but when they do this back and
forth over and over and over it was a little repeated.
Repetitive and it just was kind of cheesy i don't know he could have did it
one time i would have forgiven like okay but multiple times no.
But then they do hit him he
flies up way in the air so did he
(01:42:14):
start flying because he got hit and launched
way up and then he falls down it took
a while though for him to fall and then all his tools and weapons
fell on the car everything yeah and then
he's in the back and then she fucking puts
in reverse backs over him goes forward
backs up goes forward totally you can
(01:42:35):
could see him it makes crunching noises and kind of
one of the legs looked like it was completely like severed
yeah so they do the damage but even then dairy's like dude that's enough but
would you stop i feel like i would just be on him and then i'd be fucking just
burning rubber right on top of him yeah make sure i'm on his head just especially
(01:42:57):
after you see i don't know why the
heck they're still sitting there just watching it maybe making
sure that it's dead and then you see a
wing pops up yeah that's where
it really fucked me up i'd be like holy shit this
is a fucking demon the devil is real yeah they're it's flapping slowly and then
the body kind of jiggles like it's trying to lift it up and take a get out of
(01:43:21):
there so that's another point where i would just keep running it over until
it did not move anymore they could have grabbed his knife cut off his head I don't know.
Something. Something. At that point, he was down.
But yeah, Derry tells her, you know, like, Derry's shocked.
They were seeing a freaking wing. They're like, okay, it's not a human thing.
Yeah. It's a monster. And he's like, just drive. And she runs him over one last time. Yeah.
(01:43:47):
So at this point, we're...
After this, where do they go next? They go to the police station.
Oh, yeah. Where the police are super calm.
I know it's a different county. It's Poho County.
But why is this police station not on high alert? I feel like every county around
the original where the cops got killed and the fire happened.
(01:44:08):
Oh, yeah. I feel like everybody would be on high alert.
Uh-huh. And cops would just be, they wouldn't be casual and they wouldn't have
them just sitting there and they wouldn't be casual either. Oh,
no. No, SWAT teams would be there.
And she's like, no, don't worry about it, Mom. We're okay. We'll be home soon.
Yeah, she's like, we just called to say that we're okay. Like,
(01:44:29):
you wouldn't want to be here more than we want to be here.
We'll see you in a few hours. And the cop man in the counter,
he's just, like, inconvenienced over everything.
He's like, God damn it, just another goddamn night.
And he has a back and forth with someone who's being booked.
Derry. This small town, for whatever reason, is popping.
(01:44:49):
And this police station has a fuck ton of cops. You notice that for a small
town? A lot of cops and a lot of missing people.
Wouldn't you put two and two together? They're like, dude, oh,
my God, this small little town.
Like, we have at least 50 people on this board are missing.
Yeah, Derry turns around and they just kind of zoom out on this.
(01:45:11):
And it's just like a board full of posters of all kinds of missing people on there.
Yeah. And he's just staring at it. And then. So, yeah. And she's talking to her mom.
She's like, no, mom, don't come see us. And then.
Wasn't giselle shows up you see it it finally puts.
A face to the voice and apparently she's known because
(01:45:34):
the cops are like she's like god damn it giselle you help
us one time finding a missing child and now
or missing persons and now now she thinks
she's the town psychic yeah and he's like stop listening
to the scanners and go to bed yeah and she's.
Like no i gotta talk to them and then the cop.
Gets distracted over and she's like i'm just gonna talk to him and.
(01:45:55):
She's still laying it out and they're still being dumb like
after everything they've saw you don't
think this lady knows something you just seen a demon
wing possibly the devil a wing
flap out and you don't
want to talk to this lady who knows pretty much
names off every scenario that's happened so far and everything
(01:46:17):
she's told him so far has been happening yeah
and she asked chuck she asked she's like have you seen the cats yet
and he's like oh shit and and
then because she's like you don't have to believe me but
just listen to my fucking words man yeah but she's
still not being clear like i feel like she's talking in like
she doesn't want to tell them exactly what she's
(01:46:40):
i think maybe she's trying not to scare them and she
does eventually she's like you know i thought if i came here
and told you we could change what's gonna happen
yeah i thought i could maybe change something
and then so as they get further though
through the scenes with her it develops more
but then down in the booking something
(01:47:01):
happens like the power gets shut off well before
she gives some background information on the creeper oh yeah he feeds every
23 years every spring and she's like and she's talking to dairy directly at
this point because apparently in her dream she She also saw the bodies that
were down in the old church in the House of Pain.
(01:47:23):
And again, she's like, you know what it eats. She's like, and don't make me
tell you. She doesn't want to say the words out loud.
Well, she's seen some pretty screwed up shit. She's like, I don't like knowing
that information. I don't like having that information and those dreams in my head.
She's like, it eats certain things, lungs to breathe, eyes to see.
Yeah, and she looks at him. And you don't know this the first time you see it.
(01:47:46):
But she's like in eyes and she's like sad about it
when she says it and looks into his eyes yeah she's like
whatever he eats it becomes part of it like of
the creeper and then you see the creeper he makes it to the to the police station
he finds his truck so he hobbles his fucking broken ass all the way to wherever
wherever his fucking car is he finds he drives all the way there which he had
(01:48:13):
to have driven super far like it made it feel like to me they drove far because
they they parked at that lady's house because wherever they were going was super
far away far yeah this is me just.
Maybe thinking they've been down this road a few times in their life,
so they kind of know what's ahead.
Maybe made this trip before with college.
(01:48:36):
It sounds like it, because it sounds like this is the back road on their way
back to their parents' house.
Exactly. So, like, I feel like they would have known, and there's no way he
could have traveled that far.
But, again, it's just a movie. He gets out, and he's missing a leg.
So he hobbles into the police station and in the little booking area where all
(01:48:57):
the people are in jail, you hear a noise because the power gets shut down.
And then Derry, he's like, oh shit, I thought we killed this guy.
And then the cop down there, he's like, all right, power's down.
We got to do a check. I got to see skin.
And then he kind of goes through it. A guy flips him off. He's like,
oh, nice. You're alive. Yeah.
(01:49:20):
What was that? You're alive. live no yeah he's
like oh thanks for that um thanks for joining us and
then he gets to the last cell and the guys are up
against the wall they're like fuck and then they just kind of lean towards
like hey look at that you look terrified and he moved yeah he moved these big
hulking dudes and there's like two of them two or three and then he looks over
(01:49:40):
with his flashlight and he sees this fucking demon thing just like going hard
in the paint the bars on the cell or yeah Yeah, coals on the ground.
And then he sees a severed leg.
So the creeper ate that to get a leg.
To get a leg. And then he fucking got a hand. And that's when you hear the more slurping.
(01:50:03):
Crunching. Yeah, crunching, slurping. He's just going hard in the paint.
And then the cop at this point, he's like, hey. And then he tries to shoot him.
I don't know if this cop dies or not.
Probably. Yeah, I don't know. I like to think everybody died down there,
but I don't think they did because they're talking about it.
They're like, Sarge, I don't know about this man.
(01:50:23):
We can't take him down. He's got some sort of weird armor on.
Help me, Sarge. Help me, Sarge.
You might call me crazy. Put me in a crazy bin. But this guy,
he just crawled up the walls.
And then the sergeant was like, dude, you're not making any sense right now.
Yeah. They try to hide Darian and Trish.
(01:50:44):
And they're telling Giselle that she needs to get out of there.
And she's like, no, I want to stay.
Yeah, they're like, go into the interrogation room. We'll put you up there.
And she's like, no, that's where he gets you.
Yeah, she said. Because another thing that she tells during a little bit more
of background information was that the creeper wants one of them.
But she's not telling him which one. And that is not going to stop until she.
(01:51:08):
She gets them until it knows which one it likes. So it's following both of them
at this point. Not sure yet. But it wants one.
It makes me lead to think that they're twins.
And she says that also it smells fear. And usually the creeper scares them to
get that fear going until it finds something that it likes. It likes.
(01:51:32):
So they're going upstairs.
And at this point, the cops got it. they're at the stairway where
they're downstairs and that's when they have that talk and the guy's like it's
crawling up the walls and so a guy goes over there to go check it out oh and
he turns around like totally oh there's nothing here and then the creeper goes in and grabs his heart,
(01:51:56):
rips his heart out and then you just i i thought it was pretty cool practical
effects because then it shows the camera view right through his body with the
hole in his chest yeah and the
creeper was down and then he's up and the
cops are like oh shit they don't
know what they just saw my question is real quick so
(01:52:17):
the creeper needs body parts to rejuvenate right all body parts from when i
gather toes fingers what about asshole my foot what about what about the no-no
squares he doesn't poop he has to dude you gotta poop out some of the stuff because he gets the
eyes right but some of that some of the it's booty i think so i think he's getting
(01:52:40):
all up in some booty where are we going with this i think he's eating booty
dog oh my god ass to mouth you never go ass to mouth.
Hey man you're the one who ate skittles out of that stripper's butthole,
(01:53:01):
um i'm just curious i don't know man like who
does he pick for that like do you just what if the dude's like the
swampiest asses dude like i thought
it was organs that i means i don't know man because he
ate a whole foot and he got a foot back so i
was just curious like dude like did
he go off of swamp ass like oh that guy's ass is
(01:53:24):
so sweaty he was scared to death he shit his pants like
my panic pooping i know for sure he'd probably take
my butthole yeah but okay so
getting back to it the cops they're all standing there they start shooting up
(01:53:44):
there just unloading and then dairy trish and giselle all hear that and they
turn around they're like Like, oh shit, like we got to get out of here.
And then Giselle starts saying more, right?
Because the doors are locked. They're like, fuck, we can't get out.
And she's like, I thought you were a psychic. She's like, it doesn't work that way.
Yeah, and then Derry confronts her. He's like, just tell us, you know.
(01:54:06):
Like, you said that in your dreams, you heard one of us screaming in the dark room.
And then the Jeepers Creepers song is there. So just, like, tell us.
And she's like, look, I came down here. I thought if I told you that there was
a way that we could change it.
And Derry he's like are you dreams ever wrong and she's kind of starts stuttering
(01:54:29):
and she's like I don't know and then far away you see the creeper's head pop
out from around the corner and she's like because more comes out and she's like
I don't know like this part of the vision she's like I
don't know what he does to me yeah she doesn't know what happens to her what
she does and she's She's pretty fearful. And here's another theory.
(01:54:53):
So, spoiler alert, he wants Trisha Derry's eyes.
So why wouldn't he take the psychic's eyes? Oh. Because she's clearly, she's scared.
She has a little bit of, like, courage because she wants to save these kids.
But she's clearly terrified.
Wouldn't he just eat her eyes? Why wouldn't he take her eyes?
(01:55:15):
Because I feel like as a psychic, that vision, it goes with eyes.
Maybe she's not as scared as the teens.
Yeah, because he does that pervert smell thing, dude. That total.
The sniffing. And he doesn't like her. Spares her life for some reason.
Because he's going on a killing tear, killing everybody.
(01:55:35):
Maybe there's something wrong with her organs that she doesn't know about.
That's one way, I guess. I guess that's one way to look at it.
You know what? But it never implies that ever in the movie.
What we missed, well, we didn't miss, but cool little fact, that scene where
the cops, like one cop gets his heart pulled out.
Yeah. You actually see- Brecker.
(01:55:58):
Brecker, his real face. The creeper was out of makeup. He was- That was his
one condition, right? He needed to be at least in a scene.
No, they just wanted to show, the director just wanted him to show Show his
real face at least once throughout the film.
So he plays one of the cops. If you guys want to go look back and look through
the movie, he's a bald guy. That's the creeper.
(01:56:20):
That's kind of a cool fact. But yeah, so he sniffs the hell out of Giselle.
He doesn't like that, the sweat on her neck or the pheromones that she's coming off.
But so now they run into the interrogation room where they're trying to avoid all along.
And they're sitting there they're quiet at this point they do the old trope
(01:56:43):
the two-way window and trish is looking through the looking at her reflection
but the creeper's seeing her.
Sniffing the window sniffing her thinking you're
thinking they're setting it up to where it might be trish
being taken and throughout this
whole part of the scene they do that they kind
of build that up so then after he
(01:57:05):
does that trish and i think derry are looking out the window right and then
the creeper busts through the door i believe right yeah so i actually didn't
find an answer to your question what what question sniffing yeah yeah what about a sniffing,
so his nostrils i found this little fact this was just a mixed in with some
(01:57:29):
of his background So the creeper sniffs out what he desires and his victims.
So in this shot specifically, his nostrils, you know, they flare out. He's sniffing.
He's determining which character will provide him the most suitable body parts.
Right. Yeah. So he's sniffing it out. He doesn't find anything he likes out
(01:57:49):
of Trish. So Giselle was not suitable.
Everyone else thought he's left alive. Yeah. So then they bust out the... He busts in.
He ends up grabbing a hold of Derry, holding him tight. And Trish.
Well, Trish. He hasn't blinked. But Trish. Oh, yeah. And then he sniffs them both.
Close. Like. Yeah. And then he pushes Trish out. He's like, I found the one I want.
(01:58:13):
Clearly, Derry, he has a lot of fear.
He's been exposed more to the creeper. He sees the shit that went down in that fucking basement.
So that fear is full on. And Trish, you kind of get the sense.
And then she's pretty like, yeah, she's scared.
She's scared, but she is brave. And she's even more brave.
(01:58:34):
And this is where I didn't get it when I first saw this movie.
And I was pretty young. It didn't register.
But the cops, finally, they come out. They've got him at gunpoint.
But they can't shoot because Derry's being held.
And then Trish is like, take me, take me. The creeper doesn't want that.
You're being too brave. He wants you to be scared, screaming,
(01:58:55):
you know, being scared of him.
He doesn't like that. That's not his fetish. Yeah, it's just like we have the
same insides. Like, I won't fight you. Just take me.
Yeah, take me, not him. And then you still think like, oh, maybe he's going
to take Trish. There's a pause.
Because Derry's like, don't be a hero. Don't you be a hero, man.
(01:59:16):
And then, yeah, there's a pause. and then the cool part
is i told it reminds me
kind of like predator when you first see the predator's face yeah it
expands i thought this this costume work
was fucking awesome and it expands kind of like jurassic park when the guy the
fat guy lloyd or what's the dude off of seinfeld newman newman newman he is
(01:59:41):
trying to open the gate or whatever and then that dinosaur comes Comes down
and it opens up. It reminds me of that.
You know what I'm talking about, right? In Jurassic Park. You don't remember
that dinosaur? And he sprays like the black stuff in the guy's face.
I think it's been a while since I've watched Jurassic Park. Well,
anyways, I hope our listeners know what I'm talking about.
(02:00:04):
I liked it. See, I think he was a unique, different monster.
Like that freaking costume.
It flared out was cool. It flared out. has like spikes and wings and this is
why he stands out from all the other So what is he? Is he an alien?
Is he from a different world or is he a monster from like back in time?
(02:00:28):
What is he? Is he cursed?
Oh, oh, oh. I looked into this. Okay What is it?
I'm going, I'm going, I'm going to my page Ahem Ahem.
So, apparently, there was a deleted scene in Jeepers Creepers 2 that confirms
that the monster has been around since the medieval times.
(02:00:50):
Oh, shit. There was a comic book that revealed that the creeper participated
in human sacrifice during the Aztec times and was responsible,
supposedly, for the famous disappearance of the Roanoke colony in the late 1500s. Oh, fuck.
I think it's more along like a monster. Yeah, okay.
So, he's cursed. cursed he's cursed and he turned into a monster see okay i
(02:01:16):
could get behind that jeepers creepers like a prequel like how he was made yeah
and then kind of the tear like showed initially,
like don't show it pre-monster like only a little bit pre-monster how he became
do a little bit of that in the beginning of the movie but then show the first
initial part of the tear like when he He was originally,
(02:01:37):
you know, first the monster. Does that make sense?
Yeah. That would be a movie I would watch. Would you watch that?
I would. The other thing that I thought was cool. Throw the guy off Game of
Thrones in there. And that gets his head cut off.
I feel like a lot of people got that. I know, but the main guy, the... Fuck.
Fuck. Jon Snow's dad.
(02:02:00):
Oh, Jon Snow's dad. The lord.
Or uncle, I guess. his uncle oh spoiler but yeah i feel like throw him in there i think that'd be good,
maybe vigo mortensen would be good saying holla
but i don't know another thing
that i thought was effective in this they thought about giving him
lines and a voice but then
(02:02:23):
they decided against it which i feel like makes him a lot
more creepier because you don't know what he
wants so i've got on another thing too
before before we end this movie i feel
like this movie could have did a jaws effect where they didn't
show the creeper as much and because that car when they're
being chased throughout the movie the beginning half of this movie it's terrifying
(02:02:45):
it is and when you see him in a distance that's terrifying i think if they kept
that a little bit longer i think that would have made it more scary for a lot
longer in the movie because once you do see the creeper it It kind of, it made me less scared,
especially when I, back when I've seen it the first time, I kind of eased up
a little bit. I'm like, okay, this isn't as bad.
(02:03:06):
My imagination wasn't, didn't have to go as wild.
Yeah. Because when the car's chasing, you're like, oh, fuck this maniac.
Who knows what he's going to fucking do? You know? Like, I don't know.
For me, how'd you feel about that? Yeah.
Definitely the mystery gives it more of that creepy. Creepier. Yeah.
That vulnerability that you don't know what the hell is going to happen.
(02:03:29):
At the same time, the fact that he's so fast and he just will not give, he'll disappear.
And then they think they're safe. And in here he fucking comes speeding right behind him again.
And that's good too. This whole movie I like. But like, I just,
I feel like they could have done a little more with the vehicle.
Especially in later movies i don't think they even
(02:03:50):
acknowledge the vehicle that much i think
that was a huge part of this movie that was a character
that was a character in of its own oh yes and you know the horn that they used
on that was from steven spielberg's first tv movie first movie directed duel
that's cool yeah it was the semi and duel i know there I know a little tribute.
(02:04:15):
I know. What's up? What's up? Our research is better than yours,
motherfucker. Oh, my God. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I'm kidding.
Are we fighting? No. Oh, okay. No.
Our research. Our research. I thought you were comparing our research.
Team Annalise and Richard. Oh, yeah.
(02:04:37):
I forgot I was supposed to quiz you throughout. I know. I remembered.
But anyways, okay, let's finish this goddamn movie.
I keep my ADD brains going crazy.
So, yeah, at this point, he's flared up his face. He's looking at Trish.
Doesn't take her up on the deal.
He grabs fucking Derry. They fly off into the moonlight.
(02:04:58):
And then the cops look out the window. And somehow, somehow Trish,
somehow Trish fucking runs down the stairs fucking super fast.
Like, super quick, dude. Creepers.
Fast superpowers rubbing off on her yeah and
she runs out and she sees dairy flying off in the moonlight and
(02:05:21):
then the next day happens and the psych is
still there she's like your parents are here pick you up she goes out she sees
the crow out there didn't you weren't you saying before the podcast that there
was hints of albert hitchcock in this movie didn't you want to elaborate on
that or where did you find because i i don't know where you're going with that,
(02:05:43):
No, I was, I saw something and then I lost it when I was writing down my notes.
Yeah, because I mean, any horror movie post-Hitchcock is going to be,
have some Hitchcock vibes. Hoot-coot.
Yeah, and Trish, again, before she, before the end of the scene,
she goes back to Giselle and she's like, hey, like, you never answered Derry
(02:06:04):
when he asked you about whether your dreams are ever wrong.
You know, you said there was going to be screaming in the dark. What did you mean?
And essentially she's just like you know what i i'm just
a crazy old lady with crazy dreams like don't listen to me just
let it go i'm trying to probably comfort her
well i think comfort her and she knows what happens like
(02:06:25):
yeah she knows the like jeepers creeper song happening he's in pain screaming
so she doesn't want trish to think about living with that yeah i and i think
i would do the same i'm like don't don't worry about it life sucks right now
but that's that's the end of the The movie, you get credits.
No. Oh, yeah. You get your post credits after a while. Then you see the truck drive by.
(02:06:49):
Well, no. He's still going. You go back to the House of Pain where you see the Creeper.
He find another abandoned building. Yes, to do it.
And so you hear the music going. You hear Derry just going hard.
He's screaming. He's in pain.
Just like the psychic said. And then a fun fact about this is the Creeper.
(02:07:10):
It's justin long in that makeup in that
costume so and they and the practical
effect is justin long and at this point you see justin
long's body and his the back of his body's hollowed out and then you see the
creeper look through the empty eye socket and it's justin long's eye he plays
the creeper to have that effect that's cool i thought that was pretty cool and
(02:07:34):
then yeah and And then it cuts to black,
and then you see the extra credits saying, Trooper, Trooper 2 is going to happen.
The truck drives by one more time.
So with this, at the end of it, would you recommend this movie?
Hells yes. And what was your favorite kill?
I think we're going to start asking. I know other podcasts, I know Gourley and
(02:07:58):
Russ do this, but what's your favorite kill?
You go first. I wasn't ready for this. You go first. I wasn't ready for this. Okay.
So my favorite, I honestly, I like when the cop gets his head cut off.
When the cop gets his head cut off. Yeah, I thought that was pretty cool.
You don't see a lot of kills.
Yeah, it's off camera a lot. Yeah.
(02:08:21):
Well, you've got, so you got the crazy cat lady. That was very.
You got the cop that gets his heart ripped out.
You've got the inmate that gets his leg cut off or eaten
his arm eaten you got dairy you don't
didn't well we didn't see him get killed but you hear it
you hear it you got the other cop
(02:08:43):
that just gets pulled out of the car oh the girl
yeah what was your favorite kill i would have to agree like
actually seeing the kills either the cop that
gets decapitated you don't really see it either it's
imagination well he's had yeah the the
blade goes in i guess derry
had the worst killed because he freaking tortured him
(02:09:04):
cut him apart for for body parts yeah i
mean yeah i'd have to go with the cop so you would recommend this movie yes
i i would recommend it too i think this is great this is something that i want
to watch more regularly like it took a while like i said it's It's been 10 plus
years since I've seen it,
(02:09:25):
but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was very entertaining and I'm eager to watch two and three.
I've never seen three. We need it. I've never seen three. I want to watch it
because Trish reprises a role.
Gina, Gina Patterson. Is that her name?
Maybe. Gina P man.
(02:09:46):
She reprises a role in that. So I'm kind of curious to see.
So yeah, I re I recommend it too. It's a good watch. It has its quirks like
most horror movies do, but I think it holds its own.
I think so too. And what do you rate this movie?
Oh man, out of five? Yeah. I'd give it a 4.5. Holy shit.
(02:10:10):
Whoa, guys, this is the highest rating she's ever rated something.
I like it. Hold on. Hold on. Golf clap.
She finally found something she enjoyed.
Nice. Because I'm giving it, I would give this movie, honestly,
I would say I would give it a four. Okay.
I like it. It introduced a legendary character.
(02:10:35):
The Creeper is up there with Michael Myers, in my opinion, Jason Voorhees,
Chucky, you know, those kind of guys. Yeah.
Leatherface, he's in on that. So I think it did do a good job of that.
And it spawned a franchise, which was pretty cool.
Pretty cool. Right on, right on.
Yes. So, yeah, I mean, so Jeepers Creepers, from my research,
(02:10:59):
received mixed reviews upon its release,
but has since gained a cult following, particularly among horror fans who appreciated
its unique monster and suspenseful storytelling.
Telling and then critical reception
critics had varied responses to the film
(02:11:19):
some praised it for its fresh take on the horror
genre particularly noting its effective use of
suspense and introduction of the creeper a new kind
of horror antagonist like i was saying the film's first
half involving the discovery of the creeper's lair
and then suing chase was often highlighted
as particularly strong like that's kind
(02:11:40):
of i agree with yeah however the later part of
the film received criticism for perceived declines in logic and tension as the
plot progressed and that i think we kind of agree on too right we were walking
through it and some of it wasn't making sense something some of it didn't follow
through yeah a couple things here and there yeah but i mean for For this film,
(02:12:01):
it's for what it is. Come on.
So audience reception. Audiences generally responded more favorably,
appreciating the film's intense atmosphere and the Creeper's character design.
The film's ability to blend the elements of road horror with supernatural horror
struck a chord with many viewers, making a memorable entry in the genre.
(02:12:22):
And then, like you said, the box office, it scored worldwide 59 million.
And then Rotten Tomatoes. Do you have the Rotten Tomatoes or any other metric scores?
IMDb gave it a 6.2 out of 10. Rotten Tomatoes, 45%.
Metacritic, 49 out of 100. Letterboxd, 3 out of 5.
(02:12:44):
So middle of the road. I mean, kind of, so pretty much what we've seen on the
other movies we've reviewed, kind of the middle of the ground. Yeah.
Well, we were going to do Vianna's review corner, but she's going to get water.
Nope. Go get water. Go get refreshed.
We'll keep talking. Do you continue, Angelus? Continue.
(02:13:07):
A little bit of something. I think we've talked about this before,
how sometimes titles and words don't translate from one language to the next.
Yes. So Jeepers Creepers, apparently the phrase was originated in the early
20th century as a polite euphemism for Jesus Christ.
(02:13:27):
Wait, what? For Jesus Christ. It was Jeepers Creepers.
Really? Mm-hmm. It was, yeah, instead of saying the JC word.
Some people don't like it.
Jeepers Creepers. It just reminds me of Scooby-Doo.
So, and then later on, Jiminy Crickets was used and co-opted by Walt Disney.
That's funny i always go cheese and crackers crackers the other thing that we signed here was.
(02:13:57):
Apparently originally mgn wanted more
bankable names to play the two leads but francis you
say his last name coppola coppola used his
influence influence to back up the original casting oh
so they stuck with what the director and
what he wanted yeah do you know it was who
(02:14:18):
was originally did they want did they name it i didn't
i know you didn't see no they just want it again the typical reese witherspoon
toby mcguire's bullshit this was justin long's first leading role so he didn't
have much of a foot to stand on unproven and wasn't a box office name so again
(02:14:38):
Again, going back to the title.
So Jeepers Creepers originally used in Anglosphere.
So again, a lot of foreign markets were kind of figuring out what to do with it.
So some of the translations that I found in Canada, French Canada,
they called it Dead of Fear.
(02:14:58):
Brazil, they called it Hungry Eyes.
And then in Hungary, they retitled it Who Hid, Who Doesn't.
In Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela They called it el demonio Or the demon Is that
because they don't have like jeepers?
Yeah, jeepers creepers was not a phrase Why wouldn't they just use that name?
(02:15:22):
Jeepers creepers I don't know,
In Romania, they call it darkness. In Argentina, they came up with something
slightly different, which was el terror or the terror exists.
Hey, I could get behind that. France and Italy kind of aligned together and
calling it the devil song.
The what? The devil's song. Oh, okay. And then in Germany, they called it dinner is served.
(02:15:46):
What? Leave it to those guys. What the fuck, dude?
Dinner is served. Dinner is served. How would that be? How does that even,
I guess it tells you the story. It tells you the whole plot.
Dinner's served. Eat up. Okay. Well, that's cool. Any other fun facts?
(02:16:07):
Original title was Here Comes the Boogeyman.
I like Jeepers Creepers. It's more original. Way better. Yeah.
Okay. Without further ado, she's back.
She's parched. She got her water intake. take. Vianna, how you doing?
Hi. What's going on? Thanks for being a good sport.
(02:16:29):
Hanging in there. Are you good?
No, I hit myself with the mic. Oh my god, get your life together here.
So you watched the movie with us. No, I fell asleep. But you've seen the movie
then? Yeah. Okay, how do you like the movie?
From what I remember, my insomnia caught up to me this week.
(02:16:52):
But I think it was pretty good from what I remember.
From what you remember? What was your favorite kill? I don't know, the police officer.
Okay, cop out. Okay.
What would you rate this movie?
A four. You'd give it a four? Yeah. Man, strong from all of us.
(02:17:14):
I know you didn't watch it all, but kind of let me down, champ.
I fell asleep last night, too, while we were re-watching it.
Now you give it a four. It clearly is boring you.
No, it's because... You're tired. You had a long week. You know that whole week
I had insomnia, I couldn't go to school? Yeah.
Yeah, it caught up to me. You did get braces, too.
Yeah. I look good, by the way. Thank you. Are you able to chew yet? No.
(02:17:39):
Okay. I get it. I give you a pass on this one. so were you at least able to
get reviews yeah I was okay,
I don't know. We're flying blind here, guys. I don't know what's entailed here.
It's pretty short here so far.
So someone said, apocalyptically, soul-wrenchingly bad, 1 out of 10.
(02:18:05):
Ooh, can't please that mother.
Someone said, lobotomize the script writer, 1 out of 10. Hey, shit.
Suspend your disbelief and get taken for a ride, 6 out of 10.
Okay. I don't know how it could have been any worse. 1 out of 10.
What? If you want something scary and creepy, this is the movie you're looking for. 6 out of 10.
(02:18:32):
Entertaining, but not all that. 6 out of 10. Respectable.
Someone said, Jeepers Creepers is such a daddy. 5 stars.
What's that mean? Is that just a cool hip way of saying it's cool now?
No. It means like he's hot. oh weird
what that's creepy
(02:18:53):
i'll explain that to you off jeepers and
then someone said jeepers creeper is
my favorite x-men three stars what i don't get that comment oh my god someone
said a corny classic i love jeepers creepers three and a half stars okay someone
(02:19:15):
said okay the The Jeeper Creeper is caked up what?
Four stars and a heart. Wait, what's that mean, caked up? He has a big butt.
He has a lot of, he's got a lot in the behind. Jesus Christ.
He's got a badonkadonk, huh? Yeah, yeah. Okay.
And then my last one says, impressive, creative, and taken way too seriously. Seven out of ten.
(02:19:43):
Nice. Yeah. Okay, cool. So, yeah, kind of mixed reviews. I think some of those
bad reviews, we know why.
But given the director's history, I get it.
So, no, that's cool. I'm glad you did the research. Thank you for that.
Off topic, do you still want to defend Master of Puppets? Why do you think it's overrated?
(02:20:05):
I was just listening to that song. Oh, okay. When were you listening to it?
Like a second ago. When you're watching Stranger Things? No.
Okay. Like just now. Well, I was waiting, lurking for you to bring.
Nice. What? What song? Disposable Heroes?
Battery. Oh, dude. Battery is fucking awesome.
(02:20:28):
I was listening to that today. I actually like, shout out, Kill the Lights.
They do a fucking cover of Battery and it's badass.

You do yours I can't.

No, you can't say it because then
I laugh. Vienna, I feel like I expose my vulnerabilities and do things.
I did Dave Mustaine last week. Do it again. I can't. Okay.
(02:21:33):
My girlfriend's girlfriend. She looks like you.
Okay, okay. That's respectable. I can't. Yes, you can. I can't. You have a deeper voice.
I can't do it. I'm sorry. I gotta warm it up. Not today.
Chancho is so... Whoa. You did not bring up Chanchito.
(02:21:54):
