(00:44):
Alright, welcome, welcome, welcome. This is a pretty big deal for us.
This is today, our first episode.
I'm pretty excited. How about you? you
i'm excited too a little nervous never
done a podcast before so we'll see we'll see
how this turns out even if it's just for

(01:04):
fun yeah i'm a little nervous too bear with
us guys we should get better as we go
we're we're trying to find our footing so it
might take a few episodes but i'm happy
that you're taking a listen and hopefully you have
fun as like just as much much as we're having fun
so cool to get into it kind of i want to talk about ourselves a little bit how

(01:29):
the horror genre affects us and how we feel about it and pretty much like what
we like about it so like angelus how did you get into horror.
To get scared, to feel uncomfortable. Okay, but so when you were younger,

(01:50):
how did this, did this happen young in life, older?
When did you know you're like a love whore?
I feel like every, I don't know, growing up, we would watch scary movies at
times, whatever was playing on TV, and you're so glued to it because you were
intrigued by what was going on in TV because it was scaring you.

(02:11):
And again just making you uncomfortable so from there
i just feel like it's like a like a thrill you kind of
seeked it after to be like oh i want something to
just make me feel you know spooked a
little bit scared right that feeling that feeling
that i agree i had that as a kid and
it made me want to dive deep deeper into

(02:32):
horror it got me closer into the genre obsessed with
it you grew grew up in mexico was
horror a big thing over there or
is that is this something like you didn't really experience i
know you grew up in a small town so i
grew up in a tiny town no it wasn't when i was young it wasn't everywhere you

(02:54):
know growing up in the 90s it's whatever was playing on tv at the time the other
thing with that being a small town it was a small time where you only And they
had a handful of grocery stores and, you know, a clothing store.
You have your city hall, but there were no movie stores at the time.
So you couldn't really go out of your way to see horror movies.
So it's whatever it was on TV.

(03:15):
Mexico being a prevalent Catholic country. There's not, at that time,
there wasn't a ton of scary that was playing during the daytime. It was late night TV.
Not very often. Oh, so Catholicism. it
was uh it was pretty prevalent so with

(03:35):
that late at night what were did what ones
did you catch what flicks the ones
that i remember very prevalent is
the exorcist and that was a big shocker and
child's play nightmare on elm street there was a i remember watching at least
two or or three of them that they would rotate and then of course from time

(03:59):
to time there was a classic like the the lagoon monster frankenstein yeah so
black some black and white movies,
there was some mexican movies that were made around you know classical monsters
with wrestler wrestling very prominent and prominent okay yeah when i was a

(04:20):
little mexican culture her.
So I think we were discussing a little bit before we got on air and a little bit.
In general, when we first were getting to know each other, you pretty much kind
of, it was more spiritual.
You guys believe in ghosts. You're talking something about your dad would go

(04:41):
treasure hunting. Oh, yeah. He went through a face.
Okay. I don't know how this came to me.
Maybe it was the friendships he was keeping at the time and the people that
he was surrounding himself with.
So there was a group of them that would rotate and somehow word of the vine,
they would hear and know this places that where treasure was buried back in

(05:05):
the day where people died, they wanted to be buried with their treasures.
But of course, there was always haunted treasures. So they would bring,
you know, the holy water, needles, all these tools to help them figure out where things were.
And for some reason, it always had to take place at night. I just remember him
going on these night trips with all these people, you know, a handful of people,

(05:28):
shovels, all these things, and they would just take turns.
So growing up, I got to hear a lot of ghost stories, haunted stories,
not from movies. So I was getting some of the scare factor, like from through storytelling.
It was for some reason it was kind of prominent in my grandma's house, too.
We would stand around and tell scary stories. So you're living it.

(05:53):
Your dad would tell you those ghost pirate stories going in.
That's pretty cool, though.
So I didn't have that growing up. No ghost, no treasure ghost stories?
No, no treasure hunting. I grew up in Washington.
We live in Spokane, so I was born and raised in Spokane, Washington. Okay.

(06:13):
So basically, I grew up in a neighborhood. There wasn't a whole lot of ghost
stuff kind of going around.
Not that like my parents, my mom is kind of a person that likes ghosts, likes to believe in it.
If you guys remember John Edwards, the guy was a phony, but he would be like
a ghost whisperer. She'd watch that shit all the fucking time.

(06:35):
But no, besides that, like what got me into horror ultimately,
I swear to God, I remember this vividly.
I was about five years old five or
six years old on the weekends it would
start about Friday and I don't know I want
to say it's about 10 o'clock at night we'd be sleeping and
we'd fall asleep in the living room while my mom would leave

(06:58):
the tv on just so we were you
know we felt comfortable that we felt okay well my
mom wasn't the most observant about this
and what channels she would leave on and it was
always the usa network and what
always played in it never failed was child's
play fucking chucky was always on

(07:20):
and at five and six years old i had a mr good guy doll a version of it freaked
me the fuck out so we'd i'd wake up screaming every time and this This happened
multiple weekends that that would happen and I'd wake up and see Chucky.
Well, I think as I got older, I gravitated towards that.

(07:41):
I like that feeling, that feeling of fear, you know, anxiety, scary, scary stuff.
So I think it just kind of made me fall down that rabbit hole of,
okay, what else can scare me?
And like you, Nightmare on Elm Street was a big one.
You know, Friday the 13th, Halloween, I was seeing these at a young age.

(08:02):
I don't condone that, but it was just something my, my mom liked horror movies
and she liked showing us.
She, she was kind of sick that way. She liked to scare, scare kids.
So that's just kind of how I got started in the genre. And I've never, never looked back.
I have a question. Sure. Did your Mr. Good good

(08:23):
guy have a name other than mr good guy fuck i
don't know it's probably like tom or something i
i can't remember i'll have to look up the.
What the doll's name was but i
can it was pretty similar to chucky he.
Didn't have red hair had brown hair had a hat and then.
It had overalls on i swear to god i just

(08:45):
forgot what the guy's name was but you didn't name him no
just stuck with the name on the the box yeah the motherfucker
lived in my fucking closet in your
closet staring at me did you ask for him
no it just showed up at one
point it showed up maybe he was haunted no it
wasn't haunted no i don't think he was but he

(09:06):
had that creepy look on his face wanted your
but small innocent soul he he wasn't
battery operated so i couldn't look in the back and
see when he was talking if there's any batteries so but
anyways this episode
our first episode i thought it would be fitting to cover a

(09:27):
pretty awesome movie in the horror genre a
classic considered a modern classic and we're
covering scream 1996 how do
you feel about that what's your overall all an impression of
it initially initially it's been a
while i think one of
the reasons why i went out of my way to watch it was because it

(09:51):
was just widely known that it was a classic movie in
the and the horror genre so if you were a horror buff like this you couldn't
say that you like scary movies without ever watching scream yeah i think the
impact of it was huge so when it came When it came out, I, at 96.

(10:11):
That would have placed me about six, seven years old.
And when it came out, I remember renting it.
I didn't see it in the theater, obviously, but when my mom rented that,
that was the scariest movie.
It totally had an effect on me and it was cool.
What we had after after scream because it revitalized the genre we had things

(10:34):
like the faculty i know what you did last summer we went on a pretty good roll
in the whore so it kind of it,
breathe new life into the genre which was kind of cool to see but i think we
rode that a little too long in the 2000s we started getting like remakes like house of wax.

(10:55):
Gosh we had texas chainsaw massacre remake that was a good one but it was just
kind of after that was kind of how the genre went but there was some good ones
and obviously some bad ones which which I'm hoping to cover down the road.
So with Scream, it came out, I want to say it was December of 96.

(11:16):
It was about $14 to $15 million to make from what I read, and it ended up grossing
$173 million worldwide in the box office.
That was pretty huge, especially in 1996.
This movie did not go off well initially.
Initially it was a slow it was a

(11:37):
slow burn so to speak to build its momentum and this year was a pretty big year
as far as movies go you had independence day twister mission impossible these
are some pretty big blockbusters that it had to go against did you see any of those,
independence day i did not back in 96 no no what was he was a twister yeah twister

(12:05):
had the cow the cgi cow that was flying you remember that that was a big deal i think i did watch that,
with bill paxton oh man that was that that was a good one.
Yeah, no, it wasn't Mission Impossible. I also watched that in 1996.
That was more in my early 20s, teens.

(12:28):
So for pop culture, did that start for you in your teens, 20s?
Because you were from Mexico. You came over from Mexico in 2000, right? Mm-hmm.
So when did all that kind of play an effect for you? Like, how did you catch up to all this?
As I got older. Teenager, I had friends and they were talking about these things.

(12:51):
Whoa, whoa. You had friends talking about Mission Impossible. This is insane.
Talking about what the cool thing was that was playing on TV and what was popular
and what wasn't popular.
And what all the kids were watching. So that's kind of where I started catching
up on some of these things and hearing of things that were out there that apparently

(13:13):
needed to watch because they were so good.
Nice okay so i'm sorry i'm just trying to get into the head of young angelus,
just learning english picking all this up
and then dropping in you
got scream you've got all these all these classics that
you're you're running into i'm kind of jealous at an older age

(13:34):
you got to experience all these for the first time like that
to me would be epic epic but yeah
no so that's cool and so with
this with scream pretty much
the the director is wes graven the writer is kevin williamson a pretty strong

(13:56):
cast how do you feel about that cast i feel like it's pretty they have pretty
strong i feel like drew barrymore and corny cox you know They were pretty big names even back then.
They were the prominent actresses of that time. Yeah.
Yeah, I thought the cast was brilliant. I'm not going to lie.

(14:20):
This movie still is held dearly in my heart.
As I said, it was a pretty important horror film for me.
It had a big impact on me. so the the
plot of this though the plot of the movie basically
from what i gather seeing it

(14:40):
was sydney prescott her mom died was
viciously murdered and the movie takes place a year after her mom her mom got
murdered and at this point there's a killer out there and he's murdering students,

(15:01):
high school students.
Right? Yes. Yeah. He's, you know, almost a year to the anniversary of her mom's death.
And out of nowhere, unexplicably by the police, there's, yeah,
a mystery killer out there who, for no apparent reason at the beginning,

(15:21):
he's just out here going after high school students.
And what surprises me with these high school students, they're all movie buffs.
And they know especially they know they're whore and they're pulling this out they got,
they pull out some movies and
some tropes right away which is kind of cool but yeah I just noticed they were

(15:45):
all kind of amazing I never had all my friends did not they were not movie buffs
like this let's just say that I was a movie nerd and I'm not even to this level
you're my only movie nerd,
but yeah Yeah. So, yeah, a character characters that we got,
we have Sidney Prescott, which is Neve Campbell.

(16:08):
We've got Ski Ulrich and Matthew Lillard as Billy Loomis and Stu Lillard.
Mocker, I believe. Stu Mocker. We have Drew Barrymore as Casey.
And we have Rose McGowan as Tatum, Sidney Prescott's best friend.
My personal favorite is David Arquette as Dewey. This character is by far,

(16:34):
bar none, my favorite character.
He makes me laugh every time I watch this year after year and still be entertained by Dewey.
I like Dewey. He's my favorite, too. yeah and
to round out the main the main cast we have
randy and randy he's the he
is the aficionado the movie buff played

(16:56):
by jamie kennedy which i think he was perfectly cast i think everybody in this
movie was perfectly cast to be honest but him in particular he did that really
well yeah he was very enthusiastic in his role and all of his horror movie knowledge Yeah.
Also, I think Matthew Lillard, he was a pretty cool casting. It was by luck.

(17:22):
He ended up, I believe he was dropping off his girlfriend for another part that
was trying out on the same lot.
And whoever was doing the casting saw him and like, hey, you should try out and go for this role.
He initially went for the role of Billy Loomis and didn't get that part,
but then his manager was like, hey, you should go for this role,

(17:45):
the ugly, weird, best friend, Stu.
And lo and behold, he got it. I don't know. I don't know how to feel about that
if I was Matthew Lillard.
Here you get the ugly friend character. Yeah, nevertheless, he got it, which was pretty cool.
Oh, we also have Henry Winkler as the principal. Did you ever watch Happy Days?

(18:10):
I don't think that I did. Richie Cunningham, The Fonz. No, it doesn't ring a bell. Okay.
Well, I used to watch it, Nick and I. Shut up.
So, I liked Happy Days. He jumped the shark, man. The Fonz jumped the shark. So, yeah.

(18:32):
I think this was perfectly casted.
As far as the director goes we have
wes craven which i think his
his films at the time he was kind of
at a lull with what
he what he was directing i mean i i think

(18:53):
he in the 90s he had people under the stairs
he did shocker although i think that
was 89 i'll look through through my
notes here yeah let's see
here yeah so okay he starts
out in the 70s last house on
the left have you ever seen that i think i have

(19:14):
that was a pretty intense movie there's a.
Pretty intense rape scene which is kind
of common within west craven movies you
haven't screamed sydney's mom was supposedly raped
you had in the hills have eyes maybe
there's a little bit of rapage and last house
on the left so i think he finds that

(19:36):
pretty scary i'm curious to see throughout
the rest of the movies if that's the case i
don't think it is but i just those movies creepy
yeah well maybe especially the last house
on the left but no so 72 you had that that the hills have eyes have you ever
seen the original one i've seen the remake i've seen the original i like them

(20:00):
both if i remember right they both hold up pretty good i've seen one of them
i don't remember if it's the original or the remake okay.
Yeah, and then, so in 1984, kind of his big break was Nightmare on Elm Street.
I think this one put him on top as one of the horror director kings.

(20:21):
You know, you have John Carpenter, Stanley Kubrick with The Shining,
Wes Craven's right up there with Nightmare on Elm Street, just because it created
so many films after that with Freddy Krueger.
Although the movies don't hold up, they're kind of weak.
After the first one if i if i'm completely honest

(20:42):
although dream warriors shout out love that
movie tried to because i remember again
when i was you know watching as a kid
nightmare on elm street and it was pretty scary freaked me out
probably gave me nightmares back at the time too and then
a couple years ago i tried showing it to my daughter for
the first time and the only thing that we could find at

(21:02):
that time it was i can't remember if it was three
or four opening scene there's
a bus and it just looks like it rips through the i think that's two is it two
yeah i think it's two i could be wrong i haven't watched these we're gonna have
to revisit these down the road for sure it's a piece of paper ripping through
and she just paused and looked at me And she's like, this is what you were scared of?

(21:27):
Oh, my God. Well, hey, man.
I liked it. So, yeah. No, with Carpenter, he was kind of at a lull.
I mean, he did Music of the Heart. I don't even know what this movie is.
It was starring Meryl Streep. So, I can tell that it's not up my alley.
Definitely wasn't my cup of tea. But with that, he picked it up.

(21:50):
He did do Vampire in Brooklyn with Eddie Murphy. That movie,
I don't know if you saw that, Angelus, but it's not of, no, that was a pretty bad one.
So yeah, in the 90s, he got Scream that kind of turned his whole career around.
Which is kind of cool because he didn't even initially want to do it.
He was asked a few times. He was like, no, no, don't want to do it.

(22:13):
John Carpenter was asked too, and he even turned it down.
I couldn't imagine John Carpenter doing this movie, though. Imagine how different this movie would be.
Angelus John Carpenter directed the thing that I made you watch a little bit ago.
Crazy aliens.

(22:36):
Yeah he he's done escape from
new york escape from la he did halloween obviously
the original halloween so i couldn't imagine him doing the screen scream because
i just i don't know he's not very funny to me so i the meta part of this would
have fell short yes with him now i I think it would be kind of cool,

(22:59):
and I kind of do want to see a version that he would make.
Honestly, I think it would be entertaining, but it would be entertaining for
different parts. It would be a little more darker, I think.
I don't know. I feel like The Thing had a couple scenes that made me chuckle.
I don't feel that they were on purpose. I just feel like... Not on purpose. What?

(23:20):
Again, it's 1982. I mean, Jesus Christ, what do you want from the guy?
The costumes and the gore and everything i can't believe you don't like that
i appreciate that because at the time that was so hard to do and he pulled it
off perfectly that is a perfect movie,

(23:42):
sorry senor i like it yeah you take that shit back it made me chuckle probably not on purpose but.
I fucking love that movie okay for everyone
listening i'm gonna make her watch this every year
richard is glaring he's very offended i am

(24:03):
god damn it he's personal i bleed
out my heart and soul to you and then
you giggle at it oh my gosh um i
digress so what we.
Have next too is kevin williamson this is
his big break with scream now you

(24:26):
said scream was based loosely off of
like a serial killer right was that it or some
sort of gruesome thing that happened well yeah
when i was just doing a little bit of research i
i just found it interesting the movie
itself the story was loosely based off of
a real life case which was the gainsfield river

(24:47):
it took place back in 1980 in gainsfield florida
so it was this guy he murdered five
co-ed students over a period of i believe it was somewhere around
four years murder oh my
god you would remember this you're all about that
stuff but i am interested by
true crime stuff so is there any more

(25:10):
like details to this no so the
only thing and i don't know this is maybe just me
looking too much into things i was so it was five students that he killed there
was he had previous history before those five students when we were watching
the movie i was just taking notes and i don't know if it was a huge coincidence

(25:33):
or if it was on purpose or if it's just me looking for things.
But I did notice that throughout the actual movie Scream, not including,
you know, the characters that ended up being ghost-faced at the end,
there were five murders that also took place in the movie.
Oh, so five murders in the movie.

(25:54):
Let's do a rundown real quick. I know we're going to cover it,
but you have Drew Barrymore.
The boyfriend. Steve, her boyfriend.
The principal. Yep. Henry Winkler. R.I.P. the Fonz.
So that's three. Who's the fourth? Oh, Tatum.
And then the fifth, the camera guy. The camera guy. Kenny, that fucking fat

(26:17):
ass. Even though he's not fat, I'm sorry, I weigh probably more than him,
and I would consider myself chubby.
I feel like I'm a choncho, but I'm not by any means obese, and they make him
sound like he's just morbidly obese.
And I like how he's just shoveling Cheetos in his face.

(26:38):
Oh, yeah, as he's watching the cameras. As he gets fat shamed by Courtney Cox.
Poor guy. guy there's nothing else to
do other than to wait for her to say let's go so i'm
gonna be snacking too yeah so yeah i
don't know where i was going with that so
no so five kills yeah so back

(27:00):
to kevin williamson so he got that it was
loosely based off those that gruesome the gruesome murders
he ends up penning this
and i guess he did it in short turnaround too
like in a matter of days he gets this
penned other films that kind
of took off after this he penned i know what

(27:20):
you did last summer the faculty in 98 cursed in 2005 and that's the werewolf
movie and then he has one that came out in 99 but was wrote before scream this
was teaching mrs tingle and this was actually Actually, that was his directorial debut,
and apparently it was a dark comedy thriller. He also...

(27:45):
Yeah, tried to do. I'd never seen that. Have you seen Teaching Mrs. Tingle?
No, but that sounds fun to say, Mrs. Tingle. Mrs. Tingle, yeah.
I would say also in my findings, my research on him, he was kind of the voice of the 90s.
His television work, did you see any of that? He did Dawson's Creek from 98 to 2003.

(28:09):
I know what it is, but I didn't watch it. So that was in the 90s,
along with all those horror movies, right?
Well, then in the 2000s, he did The Vampire Diaries. That was pretty big.
The following with, I believe the following was with Kevin Bacon.
Yeah, so he had some pretty good success, and he's continuing with Scream because

(28:32):
I think he writes out Scream 2.
He does Scream 4. He doesn't do Scream 3, but he does Scream 4.
And then he's coming back, too, from what I understand, for the newest Scream
coming out, which is kind of cool.
And I think he even is, and I could be wrong on this. I'm not a guru, guys.
He could be the director of that one, but I could be just talking out my ass, to be honest with you.

(28:57):
There's a new movie coming out? Yeah. I think it's like Scream 7.
Oh. Yeah. Courtney Cox and Neve Campbell are back. Woo-hoo.
Shout out. Oh, geez. Oh, exactly.
So, yeah, no, and then, so as far as the cast, going back to the cast,
we have Neve Campbell, who's relatively new.

(29:19):
I mean, I think she, what was she in TV-wise?
It was like Party of Five or what are one of those? Nine, nine.
Two. Yeah, two and oh. One of those, I can't remember. That was a little bit before my time.
Five-year-old Richard was not digging the teenage dramas at the time.

(29:40):
So but yeah and then the movie
before this that she did was the craft which i
actually the craft will have to cover i i
enjoy that movie yeah it's another classic yeah that's
a that's a pretty good one so go rolling in from the
craft to scream i mean you're she
was on a roll your career is is on fire at

(30:03):
that point so yeah i
feel i feel like her sydney prescott is kind
of cool did you you know and i didn't know
this up until i was doing research for the podcast that other
actresses that were in the running for sydney
were one it was drew barrymore originally she was cast for the part but she

(30:26):
ended up wanting to do the casey becker part i think it's becker the initial
kill because she thought that was going to be more shocking which it was and
then after that it was was talk.
So Reese Witherspoon, I don't know. I'm trying to envision that.
I don't know how I'd feel about it. She was too sweet back in the night.

(30:47):
Yeah. Until today, I don't feel like that's really her.
And another one that was that pretty much had the role from what I understand,
but she then she ended up turning it down was Melissa Joan Hart.
Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Yeah, I don't know how
you feel about that, but I don't know if I could, I think that would change
the whole movie, but I don't know.

(31:10):
I'm envisioning a John Carpenter movie with Melissa Joan Hart.
That, like, imagine that universe.
Yeah, yeah. We're pretty lucky to have Wes Craven and Neve Campbell.
But yeah no
they've they settled on nev which i'm grateful for
and then you have courtney cox i want to

(31:31):
say she's either two seasons in or
three seasons in to friends so she i
think was the casting to draw people in like she was really catching fire people
knew who she was did you ever watch the entire friends show no so i never streamed
friends i growing up we watched I watched Friends weekly when it would come out,

(31:55):
but I've never went back and watched it in its entirety of you.
No, I haven't. I've watched scenes here and there.
If I'm around people who are watching it, then I'll watch it.
But I tried to go back and watch it from the beginning.

(32:15):
And I think I might have gotten like five episodes in.
But I just, yeah, I don't know. how you doing how you doing who's your favorite character phoebe,
she's just carefree run around with your
hair down don't care about people's things she's just
being herself i'm like joey like joey

(32:37):
yeah my can you relate to joey yeah yeah
my italian brethren i just like her character very free-spirited doing what
she wants okay so with the flow so maybe you know i'll quit my job i'll dedicate
full time to the podcast and learn how to to play the guitar and then just make
a living off of that would you be cool with that no.

(33:05):
No i'm good so the next
person i and i alluded to this my favorite character
the whole franchise dewey played
by david arquette which i believe this role was
his first really big role before this
he was in i think the movie buffy and

(33:26):
the other one with brendan frazier steve buscemi
a young adam sandler what movie was that were there rock stars oh airheads yeah
so he was in that but other than that i i don't think he he played main parts
so So this was kind of his big break.

(33:47):
And then to round it out again, we have Jamie Kennedy. This is kind of his big part.
And then Rose McGowan doing her thing.
Oh, and then, yeah, the two main guys, Matthew Lillard and Ski Ulrich.
Now, with Ski Ulrich, I'm getting a lot of, in this movie in particular,

(34:09):
I'm getting a lot of Johnny Depp vibes.
I do too. Like, do you think they did that on purpose?
Potentially, to get more people intrigued. I just think the hairstyle,
the hairstyle. They'd be like, oh, this guy looks like Johnny. Let's see.
Let's pull him into this movie. I did. The acting, the hair,
some of the mannerism, too.

(34:30):
It kind of resembled a little bit of Johnny. Yeah, I think he did.
Yeah, he was acting that part. I think that was maybe part of him,
too, doing that. But he played that creepy kind of menacing part really well.
He was a creepy boyfriend.
Yeah. He was giving me chills for sure. Yeah. He was very sweet.
But then he would do that one thing that you were like, oh, why?

(34:53):
Wait, are you? Are you the bad guy? Yeah.
Yeah, so, yeah, and then I do want to say the movie after this that I always remember.
And I think I showed you the trailer earlier, with Ski Ulrich is one where he
co-starred in this buddy movie with Cuba Gooding Jr.
It was like Chill Zone or something where they have an ice cream truck and they

(35:17):
got to drive this bomb somewhere.
I don't remember the whole context of the movie. I just remember it being a buddy,
like, they're not even cops, but it was like a buddy
buddy cop thing where they're teaming up
trying to save the world and it was not
funny whatsoever but they tried really hard to make
it funny and it was not it was terrible it's sad

(35:39):
i like cuba if you remember please email
it email us or uh on instagram let us
know uh you've watched it and and tell me what you think about it yeah and you
can email us at at whorescinemaobsessionathotmail.com or hashtag whorescinemaobsession

(36:01):
on Instagram. Yeah, hit us up on the gram.
Do it. I'd love to hear it. And also, if you think we suck right now.
Definitely let us know. Hurt our feelings. That's okay.
But make sure to address that email to Richard.
Sure. He'll pass down the message. Oh, man. I can take it. Dig in. We won't cry. Yeah.

(36:25):
So let's let's get into the movie a little
bit here that we're at let's start
out the opening scene now i think this opening scene is one of the best horror
openers ever if not the best would you agree the best opening yeah and if it
isn't what is sure richard it's the best opening Oh, my God.

(36:51):
You feel very strong about your movies. So I think it's good because it really sets the tone. Right.
And you don't know. You think Drew Barrymore is the main person.
Right. Like she's going to be.
The, the final girl, which I did back in the day.
I'm like, Oh, even at a young age, I knew Drew Barrymore was,

(37:14):
and that was the big draw.
And to see that, you know, she's settling in, she's going to watch a movie and
then she gets this phone call and yep.
And the famous line, when they're talking, what's your favorite scary movie?
I think that even till this day, Hey, when you say that people automatically

(37:34):
think of scream. I know I do.
Yeah. I, I just think the tone was good because once it starts going,
it's going right. Like, so they start off light.
They're kind of flirting on the phone, like he, he, ha ha.
And then he says things like, uh, what's the thing that trips her up?

(37:57):
Like he asked what her name is. and she because he wants to know who he's looking
at and she's like what and he quickly changes the subject but that kind of puts
her on an edge yeah an edge yeah i think it would too because,
you know from this scene you get this they let you know that she's home alone,

(38:21):
so yeah to hear someone on the phone call you not know who it is that you're
talking to and say oh yeah you know essentially i'm watching you that would put me on edge too,
Yeah, so, and then when she's like, I'm going to call the police in two seconds,
and he's like, they'll never make it in time.

(38:41):
And then I think before that, even, she's like, I'm going to hang up.
He's like, don't hang up on me. I'm going to gut you like a fish.
Sounds pretty, getting pretty gory. Yeah, pretty intense. And then I like the
part, too, where she's like, I got a boyfriend.
And then he's like, I thought you said you didn't. and that
she's like i do and he's big he's a football player

(39:04):
and he's gonna kick your ass and then he's like oh
does he his name happen to be steve and
he and he's like turn on the porch light
and then fucking lo and behold steve is
sitting in the chair duct tape which is
pretty intense right because now she's totally freaking
out she wants to help but can't because the

(39:26):
killer's out there yeah she goes to unlock the door and he's like
i wouldn't do that if i was you so you're like put up you know against two walls
what do i do you want to go out there and help and your boyfriend or stay inside
and potentially stay safe so now in this he wants you to play the game right
well here's some trivia he starts off with an easy one,

(39:49):
who's the killer in halloween she's like michael myers that happens to be her
favorite movie as as they allude to it earlier.
The second one, I want to say back in the day, maybe the stump people, maybe not.
I know it didn't for me now, but when he asked who the killer is in Friday the 13th.

(40:09):
And she says it's Jason. Jason, and she's dead.
Like, she thinks that's the answer. Yeah.
Well, obviously it's Jason's mom that's doing the killing. Now, Jason is at the end.
When he pulls the girl underneath but that's kind of
a dream sequence in that movie if

(40:31):
you remember yeah so in that
he's like well wrong but luckily we have a bonus round but unfortunately steve's
not gonna make it and i thought this part was really cool when he he guts steve
and you see the guts just falling out of them that's a pretty intense scene.

(40:52):
Being young and seeing that, like, that freaked me out, man.
The guy, the athlete that typically
is strong is going to make it at least to the middle of the movie.
He's freaking gone. He's gone out of it.
That's when Casey was threatening, you know, Ghostface to be like, go away.
I have a boyfriend who's going to be pissed that you're calling me and threatening me.

(41:16):
Yeah. So it pretty much took that power away from her, right?
Yeah. So now she's freaking out, what am I going to do? And at this point,
he wants to play, his last question is, what door am I at?
Now, I don't know about you, but I'd be panicking at this point.
Because I don't know what fucking door he's going to be at. He ends up throwing

(41:37):
a chair through the window.
Through the porch door? The patio door.
Yeah, does he run through that door? Is he through that one? I think he jumps in.
He like, yeah, jumps at her to try to grab her.
Chases her through somehow she gets gets
away and she's hiding kind of in a corner on the
outside of the house at this point she sees her

(41:59):
mom and dad rolling in in their
car she's thinking to make a run for it i don't know about you but if she would
have just stayed fucking put for just fucking two more minutes she would have
survived but then it wouldn't be a scary movie i know but But it's infuriating
because she scurries underneath the window,

(42:20):
looks at him, and he's like looking around.
And then all of a sudden he turns around and like sees her head. And yeah, it grabs her.
And then, yeah, she breaks free and then starts running towards her parents.
She gets tackled. And at this point, she gets stabbed in the throat, right?
Yeah. And this was one of the slowest kills I've ever watched in a scary movie.

(42:45):
Because I feel like they purposely, it goes into slow motion as they're running.
And he's right there within reach.
And then it goes up to normal speed again. And, yeah, he grabs her, cuts her.
So i don't know about you like even
now now that i'm an adult i don't have any
kids at the moment you do but like that scene to

(43:06):
me is pretty powerful because like could you
imagine like you're you're the
parents your daughter is helpless like it
just has a huge impact she's trying to scream out for
help but she can't her vocal cords are
damaged right yeah like that's a a pretty intense pretty
intense scene even still yeah do

(43:27):
you feel helpless and then when
the parents do get in there they hear her being
murdered being finished off and then being dragged
across the lawn to be hung up that would
be pretty traumatic the mom grabs the phone to call the police
and she's still on the phone because she was trying to who
was she oh she was still on the phone with what the killer casey was

(43:50):
so that's all they hear is the son of their dead daughter
being dragged away yeah so i mean that was pretty
pretty impactful um that's how
i think like that great start to the movie and then it just cuts to black then
you get that 2000s you know mid 90s 2000s font of scream coming in there and

(44:12):
i think a lot of movies did that kind of that that type I mean,
you know what I'm talking about?
That typewriter look. Yeah, just very simple, but pretty straight on. Hey, I like it.
So, yeah, and then the next scene, we're meeting our real final girl, Sydney Prescott.

(44:34):
At this point, she's on her computer.
Her cute square box computer with the clear colors. That's what the cool kids have. The Mac.
Yeah, the old Apple computers. I think it was Apple.
She's on her computer typing away, and then in comes old Billy Loomis, her boyfriend.

(44:55):
Friend well her dad first pops in just to say hey going out of town for work for the weekend right,
yeah does that happen before billy's there before billy
because no no after because then he's
like what's that noise what's that ragged they come in at
this they pop into the scene right around the same time
billy comes in through the window and right

(45:18):
at the same time her dad's right there at the door wanting to talk
to her yeah so yeah she gets rid
of him they're building it up he's gonna be gone for the weekend right
which is a common theme for all parents if you haven't noticed in this movie
there are non-existent the only other parent that i remember is uh dewey and

(45:38):
tatum's mom when she answers the uh phone and tells sydney that the phone phone
calls for her other than that Matt,
do you remember any other parents besides the adults at school? No.
I don't either. It's weird. Yeah. Especially with all this, all these shenanigans
going on, all this tomfoolery.

(45:59):
I would make sure my kid was on curfew and not leaving the house.
Yeah, they would not be going wandering around. I probably wouldn't even send
her to school. I wouldn't be keeping her home. Mm-hmm. Locked down. Right?
So, yeah, at this point, Billy Loomis, he's in the room.
Room they're talking about how's the how what are they talking about they're

(46:24):
talking about movies and the ratings oh yes and comparing their personal life to movie ratings,
yeah but they're talking about like their relationship
how like pretty much
when they started they were pretty hot
and heavy what did you say n17 yeah there

(46:45):
were are moving to n17 uh rating
but then it got cold but then she's
like well okay let's do a little bit of over the pants which
when is that hot it is never hot and
i don't like watching it in movies either that's weird and then at that point
he tries to you know he puts his hand on her thigh and then she's like whoa

(47:07):
big guy you better back up him away chastity belt fully engaged so yeah and
then they they They push it out,
and then the best line on this is, would you settle for a PG-13?
And then shows her breasts to him. It doesn't show it in the movie,
but shows her breasts to him. I'm sure he's so upset by this.

(47:30):
Dude, what PG-13 movie that from 85 to now showed breasts?
I can't remember any.
Can you? No. I don't know, man. Frontal nudity.
I don't remember nudity. maybe i'm just dumb again email
us if you know some because i'm curious i

(47:51):
just maybe i don't remember no i don't think that they would
put boobies in a pg-13 i feel
like they would get a lot of the one that i can
remember backlash the one i do remember because
titanic i don't think titanic was rated is it
no i think it's rated pg-13 do you
want to look it up real quick but do you remember the scene

(48:13):
i'm talking about although i think it's if
it if it if it's not going towards
sex that it's more of an art thing then
it's okay but if it's totally full-on hey we're going to fucking then it's rated
r and you can't show it but in that scene you start to see the sweaty hand on

(48:35):
the window like the fogged up window so that was pretty pretty sexual if you ask me.
It was. There was all that heavy breathing and.
Moaning going on in there too you didn't see a
lot i don't remember i don't remember the movie
i've seen that one time back in the
day i watched it several times it's a classic richard how do you only see it

(48:58):
one time i don't know man i the ending always gets me there's room on that fucking
door for both of them to live but she's like no i need the whole thing typical
woman not letting I'm letting the guy on,
selfishly taking up all the space.
Typical. Just kidding. I'm kidding.

(49:20):
Did you find the reading yet? I did. Titanic, 1997, romance slash adventure.
Okay, reading. PG-13. Oh, shit. It is.
Wow. Well, that's the only one. And I can only imagine that's a big box office hit.
They spent so much money on that. Of course, they're going to make it PG-13.

(49:41):
It was supposed to be, you know, an artistic moment.
I guess it was when her boobs showed it wasn't sexual.
The scene in the car was sexual, but they still didn't show anything other than the sweaty hand.
But it was right after the fact. But then they go in there and he's just,
you know, he's an artist.
He's typical artist wooing them like, oh, my God, he drew me.

(50:03):
So now we got to go hang out in this car naked. She said, paint me like one
of your French girls, Jack. Oh, shit. She says that.
Yeah, because he... Ooh, I'm even getting hot right now.
Whoa, I got to watch Titanic. I need to revisit the movie. Yeah,
he's an artist and he travels and he's a really good artist. He draws.

(50:23):
I just remember him being poor. He is poor, but she flips through his book. Starving artist.
He flips through his book of a bunch of ladies without clothes on.
And he said that in France when he was doing there, he did a lot of drawings and paintings of women.
Exposed just completely stripped down so yeah
she was like paint me like one of your french girls jack that's

(50:45):
a classic line damn leo damn leo
getting all the action fucking kate winslet giving it up hey she was intrigued
by the adventure she was bored of her rich life and her arranged marriage fucking
crazy okay so back to scream after that tangent now we know I know that Angelus loves Titanic.

(51:08):
I think we got to be watching this maybe tomorrow or something. I don't know.
You got me intrigued now. Celine Dion with the theme song.
Oh, how's it go? Sing it. I'm trying to remember how the song goes.
Yeah. That is not it.
Oh, wait. No, that's Whitney Houston. Oh, man.

(51:33):
My bad. Oh, man.
Wow, she would be so disappointed. My heart will go on.
Wow, I didn't. So, guys, we are covering Scream, but it's turning into a Titanic review also.
Angelus is giving it four stars. How did we get into the Titanic tangent? I can't remember.

(51:56):
Oh, PG-13 and TMS. Oh, yeah, the rating. Anyways. Okay, we digress. Titanic, awesome.
Boobs, PG-13. Boobs. Go if you're interested.
So now, so after Sydney's seen in her bedroom, we move on to the high school.
And this is where we get our initial suspicions.

(52:19):
This is where we meet pretty much the crew, right?
The rest of the gang. Yeah, we meet Stu, Billy again, Randy's there.
At this point, they're sitting down and talking about it like,
oh, my God, Casey got murdered.
And at this point, Randy's talking about.

(52:40):
He's. Oh, he says that, you know, rumor is that someone's liver was left in someone's mailbox.
And for some reason he asks Billy, you know, like, was it you?
Did you kill them like you were out of your house because he went to go see Casey?
He's like, no, I didn't. OK, I'm going to give a spoiler.

(53:02):
This movie. This is a 20 year old movie.
Stew and billy are the killers so i've
never noticed in the movie until recently that
they give each other glances and comments
are made that you can it kind of tips off that the killers because they're talking
about gutting and oh how do you gut someone i think sydney ass or either tatum

(53:27):
ass or sydney ass and matt matthew lillard's character stew starts getting into
it and he's He's really detailed about it. Playing too much.
Yeah, he says too much to the point where it kind of disgusts Sidney.
And then Billy Loomis gives him the look like, dude, what the fuck?
Shut up. Yeah, shut the fuck up. And he just gives him that glare.

(53:49):
I never noticed that until recently watching this movie.
And this happens a couple times. Where they make little comments that,
first I'm watching it, you're not going to catch them.
No. But when you start really analyzing it, you're like, wait,
they're staring at each other.
Yeah, yeah, they're just tipping each other off. It's clear, yeah.

(54:09):
But yeah, so they're talking about it at this point.
They go into the school, right? And then this is where they're doing the interviews? Or is that before...
I think that's before, because then it's after is when they're hanging out, right?
Yeah. So, no, prior to this, yeah, they're inside the school.

(54:31):
Police are there to see if anyone knows anything, has heard anything.
We meet Dewey. He's there. I think Gail's there, too. Yeah. Dewey got promoted to deputy.
Yep. Deputy Dewey. Love it.
So, yeah. And did you know his first name in this movie is Riley?
Yeah. I didn't know that. they briefly say that in the

(54:53):
office when sydney comes in oh no
i didn't catch that yeah yeah that
was just i didn't know that so now
once that happens the crew meets
up then sydney talks to tatum hey can i stay at your place yada yada yada they
make those plans well then sydney gets dropped off at her house she walks through

(55:18):
the house goes upstairs and by the way can i mention that that these houses are massive.
Like, they go to a public school, or it looks like a public school,
and they're supposed to be middle class, but all of them live in mansions.
You notice that? Yeah, it's huge branches. Except the poors, Tatum and Dewey.

(55:38):
Safe in town. They're a small house, but the final house, Stu's house,
massive. I don't know, Tatum's house?
Why were there two bedrooms in her room? Or two beds in her bedroom?
I don't know about that part. It was a pretty big bedroom. You're right.
But they were more close to the middle class than Sydney or Stewart or any of

(56:00):
them. Those are pretty big houses.
Agreed. And they, coincidentally, they were out in the middle of nowhere.
They were far away from actual town.
Yeah. So yeah, this scene, what's happening at this point?
She ends up turning on the TV. She's sitting in the living room,
goes through the news, talking about the killings.

(56:21):
She falls asleep and they establish, she talks to Tatum again and says,
oh, I'll pick you up about 7.15.
And then she falls asleep. Well, she wakes up and it's past 7.15.
So tatum's late and she gets the call this is her first interaction with the killers right yes.

(56:43):
Yeah he calls her wakes her
up doesn't he with the phone call i think so yeah
she wakes up and right off he's like hey
i can't remember i know
she asked what's your scary movie like what's your
favorite scary movie same questionnaires as
he did with casey but and she's like i don't watch scary movies
it's always the same thing the big breasted bimbos running

(57:06):
around blah blah blah blah blah yeah and actually
she thinks it's brandy yeah she's like okay randy you
gave yourself up funny yeah and so
they're going along with it she's still playing along but she's like okay randy
you're fucking around have you seen tatum are you with tatum yeah and they're
like well that's funny i'm not randy and at this point he's like i'm watching

(57:29):
you and she's like what the fuck And he's like, I'm out front.
And she goes out front. Kind of in a challenging manner because he's talking,
you know. And she still thinks it's all fucking around on her.
Yeah, so she goes out there. She's like, all right, here I am. Where are you?
You know, ready to confront Randy. Yeah, so...

(57:51):
So it's not. And then she's like, well, you're not here. What the fuck?
And he's like, yeah, I am. She's like, well, what am I doing? She's picking her nose.
He can't answer. He's clearly, well, he is there. On the front porch.
He's not on the front porch. But when she gets back inside, that's when he comes
bursting out of the closet, I believe. Right?

(58:11):
Yeah. And he attacks her and starts chasing her.
And, you know, one thing right before this, when she's talking about she doesn't watch scary movies.
Babies yeah they're all the same they're done
everybody runs upstairs rather than going outside yeah
and what does she do she does the same shit although
okay this is where i kind of think you can kind of tell the killers from each

(58:35):
other so billy i believe was the first scene right the first kill with casey
this one i think matthew willard's supposed to be the killer because he's He's
fucking clumsy as fuck, man. This guy's jumping around.
Tripping. Yeah, like not handling himself. I feel like Billy is more controlled
and is not going to like fucking, I don't know.

(58:59):
It's just the mannerisms. He's not going to be flopping around like crazy Stu.
You know what I mean? Yeah, every time you see Stu...
Interacting with the other characters he's very way more.
He's crazy yeah crazy is a.
Good description and also just goofy all the way
around right so i kind of get that vibe clumsy so

(59:19):
yeah she ends up running upstairs in her bedroom shuts the
door and then opens the closet door like the first scene
we seen her in tries to call the and he's swiping
tries to call the police the phone said this is what cracks me
up about this then 90s computer
technology man she reaches out to cyberspace
and email or text 911 help

(59:43):
on her on her computer and is
able to get the cops to come that was
really fast and effective considering this
was 1996 there was no aol dialing
of the how was she getting through if her phone was
dead it wasn't a thing i'm telling on you right now it
was bullshit i love it 90s internet

(01:00:06):
technology always fascinating they
had a vision for the future you didn't need a house
fun to always fascinating so at
this point ghost face disappears then in
comes through the window old billy loomis conveniently
coming through the window and she rushes to him like oh my god yeah and then

(01:00:31):
as she embraces him a phone falls out of old billy's pocket yeah she looks at
it and she's like wait and she's immediately like oh.
Billy's the killer um because having a cell phone at the time was in uh wasn't
huge so So, which is understandable, I think.

(01:00:53):
You've seen that big old brick phone he had.
I'm surprised, you know. He had it in his pocket.
Maybe that's why it fell out. It was so big it didn't fit in his pocket.
Yeah. So she ends up running downstairs.
This is the best part. She opens the door and fucking Dewey has the mask up in the air. Why?

(01:01:16):
Why does he have the mask? And she screams, and then he screams. He's like, ah!
He's like, oh. He's like, I found this.
He was just laying there. And then at this point, they arrest Billy.
Because he's the only other person in the house, and she's like, he has a phone.
And, you know, this happened. So they take him down to the police station,

(01:01:39):
and they also take Sydney for interrogation.
Yeah, they go in, they go...
The police station and billy gets interrogated and at this point too it's kind
of weird in the police station he's
able to have full view of sydney and they're just sharing a lot of way,
yeah he keeps looking around and looking at and just keeps staring at her as

(01:02:04):
his dad is in there with the police chief asking him questions like what were
you doing yeah he's like i was bored blah blah blah to visit her more boobies
they're powerful pg-13 baby yeah make fun of them,
so then as they're leaving they
have to leave out the side because the media is blowing up

(01:02:26):
right now old gail weathers is out there so they
go up the side dewey goes and gets the car and then gail shows
up this is where i feel like we really get
the embrace of gail she really immerses herself
in the movie yes so she
interviews never tries to and what's the comment she's like nev's like oh your

(01:02:47):
book came out and she's like yeah i'll send you a copy and then nev's like boom
right in the face yeah and then at this point dewey rolls up he's like whoa
whoa, where'd you get that right hook?
And then they go off and they end up going to Dewey and Tatum's house.
Now at this point, they're settled in. She's stressed out. She thinks her boyfriend's a killer.

(01:03:13):
And she gets a phone call at Tatum's house.
At this point, the mom answers and she's like, is it my dad?
And she's like, I don't think so. Of course not.
It sounds like a fucking old perverted guy on the phone like hello like you
know what i mean like it's just like who in their right mind if i heard that

(01:03:34):
i'm like nah bro you're not gonna talk to this teenage girl i'm sorry bye but
anyway she gets the phone call and he's like oh,
You fingered the wrong guy. No boyfriend can last with you or some shit like that, right?
Yeah, saying that, you know, she got it wrong. And she lets out a scream.

(01:03:55):
And then she ends up hanging up. My favorite part of the movie.
And I think this is improvised.
Yes, Dewey comes in. He's like, oh, what's happening?
And then they go in the room. He picks up the phone. He's like, hello. Hello.
He wants a little action. It's just my favorite. is
timing on this is perfect so at

(01:04:18):
this point they end up in the
morning they end up going to school she confronts
gail again she talks to her and she
says hey about last night you know i punched you and then
you get a little background up to really what their issue is and essentially
you know back to yeah you fingered the wrong guy caught weary sydney's mom was

(01:04:41):
murdered a year ago And she gave testimony that this one guy had done it. Caught and weary.
Caught and weary. And Gail doesn't think it's him. So she writes this book saying that he's innocent.
Yeah. And that Sidney gave, you know, pointed to the wrong guy.
That Sidney's mom is a fucking skank ass whore and sleeping around with everybody.

(01:05:03):
That's her fault. Which is my favorite throughout this movie.
People are calling Sidney a fucking skank. or not sydney's tank but her mom
was just a lowdown skis ass whore we are you kind of don't expect it like she
goes after that scene she goes back inside the high school.
Upset and there's just this two

(01:05:23):
high school girls me like yeah oh she the
place so nowhere safe right she goes
in there just to get some get a relief get break from
all the shit that's going going on right and then yeah
she then hears like oh yeah her mom fucking
skank whore blah blah blah they start
coming out she has to hide in the in the stalk she doesn't want to feed them

(01:05:46):
before this though fun fact i didn't know linda blair from the exorcist oh yeah
she's one of the reporters yeah so when dewey drops off tatum and sydney at
school the next day after the whole thing with with Billy,
she's the reporter that puts the microphone on her face and being like,
how does it feel to almost get slaughtered? Yeah, you pointed that out.

(01:06:08):
And Tatum, you know, she's like, she doesn't want to talk to anyone.
And she's like, the people have a right to know, Sydney.
Yeah, that was weird. Yeah, brief fire. That was funny. Yeah,
I never caught that until you pointed it out.
But yeah, so in the bathroom, this is one of my favorite scenes too.
So, like, who do you think, at this point, the girls leave.

(01:06:30):
She's at the sink she's like oh my god just kind of unwinding right processing.
And then you see, like, she hears something. She looks down below in the stalls, doesn't see anything.
Then all of a sudden she sees two feet come down and then the.
The gown. Yeah, the costume come down. Which is very glittery.

(01:06:52):
I've never paid that much attention to it before. Yeah.
But yeah, you see Ghostface in the stall. My question is, how long was he waiting there?
There and who do you think was in the stall's ghost
face from he had been waiting there
all day and hoping that she was
gonna stop by the bathroom go in there with the costume ready

(01:07:14):
i think it's matthew lillard i think it's stew because he comes out runs after
her slides down and falls down and gets up and starts running again i'm gonna
say no fucking way there's no way it's matthew lillard because he you think
he's gonna be able to sit still in the stall maybe he He took some,
you know, ADHD medication that day.

(01:07:36):
There ain't no way Matthew Lillard's stew is sitting in there.
That guy is too, like, fidgety. He'd be laughing, giggling the whole time.
He wasn't into the girls' conversation.
Yeah, I think it was old Billy Loomis sitting in that stall, taking a nap, waiting.
After his night in jail. But it's an effective scene still. I mean,

(01:07:57):
it just proves that you're not safe anywhere.
You're not safe at a friend's house. or you're not safe in the bathroom at school, daytime.
Like, it really hits everywhere that no matter where you go,
I'm going to be there kind of effect, which is, for me, I mean, that freaks me out.
Directly or indirectly, because isn't right after those students,

(01:08:19):
they're being funny, and then they grab their own costume of Ghostface,
and they're running around the school.
Oh, yeah, so that happens before that scene. Yeah.
That's what causes her to go to the bathroom. To be upset.
And then so at that point, it's hilarious too.
You get your first like, well, you get one of the red herrings.
That's the beauty of this, that anybody could be the bad guy, right?

(01:08:43):
Well, the one that kind of like got me originally was Henry Winkler. The principal.
Because he has this vicious scene. It's totally kind of creepy. It is.
He's kind of gives he you know caring principle
but also creepy principle well he shows he
is passionate about his students and

(01:09:04):
then he's like what the fuck you crazy motherfuckers why are you
doing this you're heartless blah blah blah and he
cuts up on the mask with the biggest shears i've ever
seen yeah why did he need shears that
big in his office yeah he cuts the mask up
one of of the mass and then he proceeds to like he puts the shear like across

(01:09:25):
the kid like he's gonna cut him up i forget what he says and then across his
face he kind of runs it on his face too a little bit yeah it's pretty brutal
like something along the lines of you know him cutting the students,
i thought it was brilliant though i think it was pretty good yeah he got dark
for sure yeah this This is one of the first scenes. And he kind of made a resurgent at this time.

(01:09:50):
So he did this movie. And I believe he did in like a couple years later, he did Waterboy.
He was the coach. You remember that? Yeah. He kind of came back,
which was kind of cool. I like the Fonz.
So yeah, we move past that. At this point, they say, hey, school's going to
be out until further notice.

(01:10:10):
Because all these shenanigans, all these murders are happening.
And then at this point, Stu is like, hey, we're going to have an impromptu party
at my house to celebrate which sick sickos like who's going to celebrate the
murder of their classmates. It's fucked up.
No school means party time. Apparently in this middle class town,

(01:10:34):
Woodsboro, man, the Woodsboro kids are crazy. Yeah.
Yeah they at this point and tatum's like
oh do you want to go come on let's see it'll be
fun we'll all be together and sydney agrees and
before that though they end up going to tatum's
house they're sitting on the porch and again they make

(01:10:56):
the reference of how big of a whore sydney's mom
was by tatum making the comment she's.
Like well you hear the rumor enough it's bound to be true you
hear richard gear dribble story
you start thinking it's true and you
can tell sydney's face it makes her think for a second like wait
could it be yeah she's like starting to question like did i

(01:11:18):
finger the wrong guy she's like
no way man and so they move on
from the conversation you know what ticks me off though you
see ghost face in the distance like when they go inside he's
running across in the bushes at the
party or tatum's house at tatum's house right there
he runs through and he makes a thing and then

(01:11:39):
there's another scene when they're at the grocery store oh he
does that that's totally uncharacteristic and
not like they didn't need to add those in the movie because
it's stupid like people are gonna point them out and
find them like you see a dude walking in a full-on halloween
costume walking around the grocery you're gonna to question
it so it was just kind of dumb i didn't like they added those so this movie

(01:12:04):
i think the pacing it was pretty fast it was a pretty fast-paced movie because
from the start to finish i mean they mainly about 45 minutes and the ending
of this movie is at stew's house this party.
So at this point they're there everybody's there gail they try to say oh did they see us Dude,

(01:12:27):
the news van is directly across the, on this private property,
is directly across from the front door.
Of course they're going to see you. Yeah, Dewey comes and approaches her when
he drops off Sidney and Tate. And he's like, hi, Gail, you want to come inside?
And I don't know about you, I don't get the will they, won't they vibe.

(01:12:49):
Like, I feel like they are annoyed, or at least Gail is annoyed from Dewey,
but using him. Yeah, she's definitely using him.
She tries to... But that's part of the movies, though. ...get involved with.
She's interested just to get, you know, inside details.
But that's part of the movies, though, where then they end up marrying each other at some point.

(01:13:09):
Like, but every movie, from what I remember, they're never together in the beginning.
Like, something happened. Oh.
Never get the vibe they're gonna get together because they it just
doesn't feel that way i don't know it's not like love at
first sight it's very used another
he's interested in her but another line i think's improvised from dewey was

(01:13:32):
something about hey do you know what that the stars like do you know what that
whatever is called and she's like no do you he's like no That's what I was asking
you. Oh, the Constellation, yes.
That cracks me up. Like, dude, it's just funny. That was a funny one.
So yeah, Gail uses him to get in the house.

(01:13:54):
She plants the camera to watch teenagers party. Yeah, I was going to say in
a room full of underage students.
Fucking weird, but it happens.
This is a stew's house? Yeah. This is happening. Where are his parents again?
I think they allude that they're somewhere on vacation or something.
I don't know, something fucking weird.

(01:14:14):
That's why you're just leaving your teenage kids to go on a vacation.
But yeah, so they're there. They're having a scary movie thing.
It happens to be Jamie Lee Curtis movies.
Yeah. And this is where Stu, he's wearing his Hugh Hefner gown robe in his house,

(01:14:35):
which whatever, he's comfortable.
It's his house. but at this point Randy starts giving them the rundown on all
the tropes and scary movies like how to avoid getting killed,
The perfect horror movie has rules, apparently. I didn't know that.
Yeah. And one of them is, you never say, I'll be right back.

(01:14:58):
And then Matthew Lillard is like, hey, I'm going to go get some beers. You want one?
And then he's like, I'll be right back, which is one of my favorites.
Yeah, he's like, oh, my God. All concerned.
So he disappears.
Tatum, I ended up, well, so Gail shows up in the house.
So it was like oh my god they're starstruck tatum goes

(01:15:21):
off into the garage someone asked her but
i think it's stew asks her to go get beer yes
he asks her to go go get more beer from the garage she gets
up and goes by herself yeah and she goes and grabs a beer at this point when
she grabs it the garage light ends up turning off the door shuts yeah the door

(01:15:43):
locks yeah and then ghost Ghostface is standing there again.
Yeah, Randy. She thinks that she's like, Randy, quit fucking around.
What the fuck? But she starts playing along with it. Like, okay.
And she's like, oh, don't kill me. I want to be in the sequel.
Another meta thing that they do.

(01:16:06):
But very quickly, Ghostface shaking his head. He's like, no.
And then grabs her pretty aggressively.
Cuts her arm. She freaks out and is panicking. At this point,
she starts throwing the beers at him.
Ghostface, I think it's Billy Loomis at this point, doing it.

(01:16:26):
But he gets, like, hit in the nuts.
Beers, and these are the most fragile beer bottles I've ever seen in my life.
They're just exploding.
Which, I don't know if you've ever thrown a beer bottle or been hit by one. I have.
And they're pretty solid. The shit fucking hurts, but they definitely do not
break. They don't break that easy. Mm-mm.
So at this point she hits him he falls down she tries to run and.

(01:16:52):
The garage like through the garage doggy door she gets
stuck she's trying to get out the door lives the most
unrealistic thing because there's
no way one this garage motor is gonna open and left a full-size human yeah exactly
and then there's gonna be a sensor so it'll stop stop moving it'll go naturally

(01:17:15):
back down well i guess it'd go up but with all that weight there's no way but anyways Anyways,
it goes up, and it does do an awesome, like, crushes, breaks her neck,
crushes her head. I thought that was a pretty good kill.
Slow, but effective. Slow, but effective.
Yeah, she's like, oh, no, fuck, fuck, fuck. She's slowly rolling up,

(01:17:36):
and she's, like, kicking, trying to squirm out of the hole still.
Which also, I don't know about this.
And he's just watching her slowly go up. I'm not trying to be a weirdo,
too, but did you notice her shirt at this point?
She had fucking nipples that could cut glass. She was cold.
Don't touch her nipples. It was insane. I'm like, are you serious?

(01:17:58):
What the fuck's going on here? PG-13.
It was just crazy. It just seemed very over the top.
So, yeah, at this point, she gets killed. The principal, everybody gets wind
that the principal died.
So the majority of the students that were there, the friends, left.
They get excited over this. yeah apparently apparently the

(01:18:22):
fawns got strung up on the football field they want
to see it before he's taken down so they get out of there so
this leaves us randy sydney stew
and at this point billy loomis
shows up and then she's like
oh man what the hell and then but they're like we need

(01:18:42):
to talk and she's like you know what we do need to talk and they
go upstairs and then
upstairs stairs do you remember what happened they start
talking and she apologizes for having
been acting a prude and and that she's
been taking her mom's murder too hard
and that she needs to get over it her mom was viciously murdered but and it's

(01:19:06):
been a one year and it's time she owns it she's like man i gotta be over it
yeah and he also apologizes he's like yeah sorry about everything you know All
the things that I've said to you in the past.
It's fine. Start over, baby.
And then at this point, they start talking about it. Oh, it's movies.
You can't pick the genre.

(01:19:29):
But you can't pick the genre. But she's like, I wish I could be in a Meg Ryan movie.
And then at this point, they're embracing. And she's like, or a good porno.
And I shit you not, the cheesiness happens where he's like, what?
And then they end up having sex.

(01:19:50):
I'm doing it. I'm doing it. So, but at the end of this, after their coitus,
she asked, she's like, hey, who'd you call with your one phone call?
And he's like, my dad. She's like, no, I watched the sheriff call your dad.
And he's like, no, I tried to call. He didn't answer.

(01:20:11):
And she's like, what? No way. She starts to put it together.
And this is where it starts to turn.
And he's like what are you talking about blah blah blah
he's facing he's got his back against the door and
this face ghost face comes in at this point stabs him
or so we think he falls down he

(01:20:31):
has the red corn syrup all over his his
shirt looks like he died she ends up
running out i think she jumps out of a window right yeah
in a different room but she does come out of a
window window and trying to figure out here we just saw four her through the
window and her only option at this point is to jump out into there's a boat

(01:20:54):
parked outside conveniently yeah she jumps out she sees tatum hanging there
she's like oh my god and she starts running out there.
And at this point she runs to the van
and she's like oh my god she sees old kenny
hanging out he's like what and they watch
the screen and at this point ghostface is behind jamie kennedy randy on the

(01:21:20):
video and they're like oh move kid move kid and then kenny goes out to help
he opens the door the van door and sees the front door he's like oh crap remembering
there's a 30 second delay,
and at this point ghostface gets right up there slits his throat kenny's gone.
So then Sydney runs off again. I think the SUV, right? This is the point where she gets in the SUV.

(01:21:47):
Or no. What happens?
She escapes from the back of the van. She gets stabbed first.
Yeah, but goes out the back of the van. Goes out the back and she's running
into the yard or to the middle of the road to try to get help.
And then Gail, at this point. Well, Dewey and Gail find Sidney's dad's car. Dewey gets a call.

(01:22:13):
No, what are you talking about? At some point, Dewey and Gail find the car, Sidney's dad's car.
And then he's like, oh, go get help. And she runs up at that point,
gets in the van because she's like, hey, Kenny, I need the phone.

(01:22:33):
Walks in blood. And then she gets in the car. And then she hits Randy with the
phone and then Ghostface shows up and then she has to like kick it into gear.
And then the camera guy is on the windshield and she's like,
get off my windshield. And she has the wipers going, right?
But then she, so when she gets going, then Sydney pops out and then causes her to wreck.

(01:22:57):
And we think Gail's done for, right?
Her van flips over. And so Sidney runs to the car.
I think the car scene happens before all that. The Gale part. Yeah.
But then at some point, Sidney goes to the house. This time you see Randy and
Matthew Lillard, Randy and Stu at the door.

(01:23:21):
And she's like, and Dewey's got a knife in the back.
She grabs his gun, runs inside, shuts the door on Randy and Stu because she doesn't know who it is.
And she's like, ah, fuck you both. Shut the door and locked it.
And then, so here's where the big reveal happens.

(01:23:41):
Happens billy loomis comes down the stairs
he comes barreling down he's not dead yeah
and she's like oh my god and he's like give me the gun grabs
the gun opens the door randy comes
through he's like oh man uh everything's
good and he's like nope and he makes a psycho quote

(01:24:02):
and shoots randy in
the shoulder at this point and
then she's like oh shit and then this is where she runs into matthew lillard
like oh my god billy's alive blah blah blah and then so they both get to the
point where they make it to the
kitchen where they have her and they're unfolding their whole plan right.

(01:24:26):
Yeah they're gonna no yes they're
gonna unfold their plan like she's like what the hell are you
you guys doing this you guys are crazy right and
then so then billy's like you made my parents separate
your mom was such a skank ass whore and
hurt my feelings i'm a grown man but my

(01:24:47):
parents are gonna split up and his mom ran away because of it yeah so that's
the big the big reveal reveal of why he why he's personal and then yeah and
then stew and billy are like okay we have another surprise and they bring out
old pops he's out there all duct taped.

(01:25:08):
Beat up yeah this poor guy's been kidnapped for
days yeah and then so they reveal
but you know what the dumbest part of this was though they
end up like yeah we're gonna say everybody died
and we're the only ones to survive they end
up stabbing each other ahead of time and then they like get into they get too

(01:25:29):
into stabbing each other yeah without doing the rest that you'd You'd think
they would kill Sidney and then kill her father first and then do all this and then call the cops.
They don't. Billy ends up stabbing Stu.
And then Stu ends up stabbing him.

(01:25:50):
And that's where we kind of get that point where they start arguing a little
bit, bickering, but not. And he's like, go get the gun.
And that's where Stu's like, I'm getting woozy here, man.
They stabbed each other too much yeah and then gail shows up she has the gun
and she's like we're gonna stop this right now here's the scene and then the weird like quote,

(01:26:17):
cindy has is like i like that and then
it doesn't happen anyways because she has
the safety on and billy knows that and pushes her
out and she hits her head or something gets
knocked unconscious unconscious does he hit her something happens
because she gets knocked unconscious she falls on
dewey yeah and then at

(01:26:39):
this point she's gonna get shot in the head and he's like gail out but then
they get a phone call in the house and it's uh sydney and then they can't find
her they're freaking out they're pissed i'm surprised they answer in the middle
of all the chaos yeah pick Pick up the phone.
And then she turns the table on them. And then they're like,

(01:27:00):
oh, man, we got to find her.
What happens is...
He's in the closet. Billy gets an umbrella to the shoulder. Right?
Yeah, she jumps out, yeah, with an umbrella and stuff. Or, yeah, pokes him. Yeah.
In the shoulder. And then, so he's, like, temporarily out.

(01:27:22):
And then you have Lillard come out. Stu, he comes charging in.
They wrestle a little bit.
And then he has an epic one where he falls on the ground and she throws a TV on him.
Essentially, he's dead, right? Yeah, it was a big, pretty graphic.
Yeah, he gets electrocuted and he does that cheesy, like, shaking on the ground.

(01:27:42):
But before that, one of my favorite quotes, too, when she's on the phone,
she's like, why are you doing this?
And he's like, I'm a follower, man. And then she's like, did you really call the cops?
My dad's going to be so mad at me. No, he's like, my mom and dad are going to be so mad at me.
Oh, I thought that was really good. I think it was improvised.
Honestly, it was pretty good, though. So, but yeah, he dies.

(01:28:06):
And then, so we think everything's good, right?
At this time. But no, then she has a scuffle again with Billy.
And then this is where Gail does come through, ends up shooting Billy.
Right? Yeah. She figured out that to take off the safety from the gun.
Yeah. She shoots Billy and then everything's good.

(01:28:28):
They hover over and then Randy, he's like, oh man, they're never dead.
Look out and then he does that final jump scare and
then they shoot him in the head all is
well right then i love this
they forget all about sydney's dad he comes hopping out she's like oh oh yeah
dad so yeah i mean that was that's the end of the movie pretty good right i

(01:28:56):
thought that was a pretty good ending i was satisfied were you,
Yeah, there was a lot happening at the end for me.
With all the... Like, do you remember when you initially saw that? I'm trying to remember.
I remember, like, somewhat being like, what the fuck just happened?
I was just confused as to all the stabbing between Stu and Billy.
Like, this, it was excessive. Oh.

(01:29:18):
Like, why are they still stabbing each other? I feel like once, twice was enough.
I thought it was wild. I'm like, wow, these fuckers are fucking wild and crazy.
Yeah, I know. So would you recommend this movie? No.
You don't recommend this to people? What do you rate the movie?

(01:29:40):
Yes, I would recommend it. Okay. I just knew that I was going to get a reaction
out of you for saying no, because it's so close to your heart. Stupido.
So what would you give it? Out of five? Mm-hmm. Or four? Out of five. Mm-hmm.
You would give it a four? i would get it for i honestly

(01:30:02):
would give this a five out of five and i would
recommend this to anybody again this is
a classic i think it holds up and
according to critics like rotten tomatoes it's still certified fresh and it
got a pretty high rating and then same with indb gave it a pretty high high
score so i think it i think it still holds up in my opinion how about you does Does it still hold up?

(01:30:28):
I know like phones are upgraded, but I think they do as the movies go on.
I think they counter that and are effective with that as well.
I think for me it holds as a comedy.
Okay, satire. Horror slash comedy.
I think two and three are more of the comedy and less of the horror.

(01:30:51):
I think this one is more horror for me, but it does have that satire.
That's a lot of suspense because throughout the movie you don't know who the
killer is and they give you little hints and bits like you said between Billy.
But it has a good combination of horror and comedy. Potentially the principal...
At one point starts being considered a subject

(01:31:11):
because they find out that calls were
coming from his cell phone yeah so i
think yeah this movie it did it had a lot of a lot of suspense a lot of horror
yeah it had a lot of suspense a lot of horror elements to it as the series progresses

(01:31:31):
It says two and three, I think, are a little more eh.
But if I remember right, but I still like two.
And then four kind of brings it back with its intensity, I want to say.
Have you seen any of those ones? I want to say two I have. I don't remember if I've watched three.

(01:31:53):
Gotcha. Yeah. So to wrap this up, wrap the episode up, I hope you guys enjoyed
